Introduction

Diamond mosaic, diamond embroidery, applique and even jewelry, as well as diamond mosaic - all this is the name of a new type of handicraft, covering more and more people around the world, including in Russia. And I recently joined him. What to say? I am delighted! Panels are created quite quickly, they look beautiful, rich, elegant. Due to the wide variety of themes and sizes, they will fit into any interior! Have you seen the paintings lined with amber? Diamond mosaic resembles this technique. The diamonds are, of course, not real. But the cost of the kits is quite high; depends, of course, on the size and complexity of the work. Elements made of durable plastic with a glossy shiny surface act as diamonds. Most often rhinestones (elements) are square, but they also produce mosaics with round elements. Such needlework can be called embroidery only in a figurative sense, because no thread or needle is used. However, the presence of attentiveness and perseverance is required.

The purpose of creating a creative project: Acquaintance with the art of mosaic. Mastering the technology of mosaic art.

Tasks:

Collect and study information about the art of mosaic;

Make a panel yourself using the diamond mosaic technique;

Encourage other guys to be creative.

Rationale for the choice of topic

Last summer I visited the city of Irkutsk, together with my mother we went to the museum, where I saw beautiful paintings made of pieces of glass. I really liked these paintings, I decided to learn more about the art of laying out paintings from pieces of glass, pebbles, and other material. I decided to try to make such a picture myself. First, I went to the library, collected the necessary literature on the fine arts. In the art encyclopedic dictionary of a young artist, I found information about the art of mosaic.

Initially, mosaic paintings were very common in the countries of the East. Modern stone embroidery is very original and is gaining more and more popularity every day, because it not only allows you to create unique "jewelry" works of art that complement the interior of any style, but also turns the very process of embroidery with jewelry beads into a fascinating creative journey.

Relevance

The relevance of diamond mosaic as an art and its practical value lies in the fact that it is quite possible, with some skill, to decorate a variety of personal things with a unique and original pattern. In addition, the mosaic opens up completely unique opportunities for making gifts with your own hands. But there is no more sincere and pleasant gift than the real one, of which there is definitely no other specimen in the world and there will never be any more.

By the way, a mosaic is a great idea for a hobby, or making money on a hobby. I think that there will be more than enough people who want to acquire such beauty for their interior.

For us, mosaic pictures represent the most advantageous ratio of result and time spent. After all, the technology of embroidery with stones differs from embroidery with beads in a faster execution process and allows you to get a masterpiece made by yourself in a short time. And the simplicity of execution and accurate indication of the location, eliminates the possibility of error, making embroidery with jewelry beads available even for novice needlewomen.

In addition, diamond mosaic gives embroidered products a special charm and unique qualities:

    the mosaic does not lose its qualities and does not fade over time;

    embroidery with rhinestones, gives the embroidered canvas a certain texture and relief, making them as realistic as possible;

    the use of a wide range of colors with the transfer of the smallest shades, allows you to convey a real play of light and shadow, realizing the 3D effect, unlike canvases embroidered with beads, where this is not possible.

History reference

A mosaic is an image or pattern made of particles of uniform or different material - colored opaque glass, smalt or stone, and is one of the types of monumental art. The mosaic is made up of individual particles, which are fixed in a special glue. In the classical period in Greece, under the influence of ancient Eastern patterns, mosaic patterns and inscriptions (originally made with colored pebbles on the floors) became widespread. During the Hellenistic period, they began to create mosaic compositions of colored stones and smalt. In the early Middle Ages, the Italian city of Ravenna was famous for its mosaics, which was decorated with mosaics of numerous palaces and temples. Mosaic reached its highest perfection in the early Byzantine period, when mosaic images were used to decorate the walls and vaults of churches. Sets of smalt and stones (often semiprecious) were not polished, which made it possible to achieve depth of color. The shimmering surface of these mosaics, their golden backgrounds, optically expanded the real space of the interiors of Byzantine temples and palaces of the nobility. Along with the adoption of Christianity, the art of mosaic came to Russia, closely associated with fresco painting. The first samples of mosaic smalt were brought to Kiev with Byzantium. Subsequently, the production of glass smalt was established in Kiev in the Cathedral of St. Sophia and St. Michael's Zlatoverkhovsky Monastery (X1-XII centuries). Cathedrals amaze with the grandeur and richness of the mosaic decor. Even the steps of the spiral staircases of Hagia Sophia were lined with gold smalt. Scientists have counted one hundred seventy-seven shades in the mosaic palette of the Hagia Sophia. After the Tatar-Mongol invasion, no subsequent ruler in Eastern Europe could afford such an attribute of true wealth and enlightenment. The mosaic is notable for its luxury and elegance, made of smalt - small modules of colored glass. Well reflecting sunlight, smalt gives off color tints, like the shimmer of precious stones. Over the centuries, mosaics have spread throughout the world, and each state has made its own changes in the technique of making mosaics. New Diamond mosaic (diamond embroidery), which you yourself can do with your own hands and decorate any room with it!

Variability

This beautiful painting with snow-white daffodils would have looked very beautiful in my room, but there was no set with such a pattern in the store.

I would like to present a picture of this magnificent rose to my mother. She is very fond of these noble flowers. Looking at the picture, it seems that the morning dew is dripping with sparkling drops from delicate petals and dripping onto the glass. Very romantic! I will definitely prepare such a gift for my mom by March 8

I chose a bouquet of wildflowers for work and I want to give it to my grandmother for her birthday - these are her favorite flowers

Materials used

Diamond embroidery involves the use of ready-made kits, with all the necessary components. Therefore, I have to choose any plot I like and implement it using all my skill.

First, let's take a closer look at the contents of the kit.

The main components of the set

So, the size of the image we have chosen is 20 x 20 cm, and our embroidery is based on a color scheme.

The set includes:

    Detailed chart with detailed color breakdown, printed on cotton canvas, covered with an adhesive layer.

    The key to decrypting the circuit.

    Adhesive film with rhinestones, the desired colors, fixed on the diagram. Sometimes rhinestones are packaged in numbered bags.

    Tweezers for working with crystals. If suddenly, for some reason, tweezers are missing, you can safely replace it with a regular pencil, which is no less convenient to use.

Safe work rules.

    When working with a mosaic, it is necessary that there is nothing superfluous on the working surface.

    Use tools carefully, with care.

    Maintain cleanliness and order in the workplace.

    Perform work carefully, not be distracted by extraneous matters

    At the end of the work, clean your workplace.

    When working with glue, use a brush if required.

    Take the amount of glue that is required to complete the work at this stage.

    Try to keep the glue away from clothing, face, and especially eyes

    After work, close the glue tightly and remove.

Instructions for use

    Having prepared the place and all the materials necessary for work, you should be as careful as possible to free a small piece of the diagram from the adhesive tape with rhinestones. We recommend peeling off as much as you can embroider at one time. Otherwise, the adhesive base may rub off, and the mosaic will not be sufficiently fixed;

    If rhinestones are in bags, then they should be placed in containers convenient for work before embroidering. It is best to mark the containers by assigning a number to each color, this will greatly facilitate the workflow;

    Next, we go directly to laying out stones. To do this, using tweezers, we take a stone numbered in accordance with the color of the scheme and carefully place it in the desired cell on the scheme. Such embroidery should be carried out with impeccable accuracy and the strictest adherence to technology, making light pressure with tweezers on each crystal to be laid in order to ensure reliable fastening and positioning of all elements of the composition in the right place. It is very important to observe light pressure, because a strongly glued mosaic will not allow you to eliminate the error that has arisen;

    We will embroider in one direction all the time, going in horizontal rows in order, as when embroidering with beads. Although there are quite a few needlewomen who prefer to embroider in colors: first one color, then another, thus filling the entire area. Embroidery is a creative process and comfort is very important here, so you can try different ways, choosing your own individual style;

    If, during installation, we come across crystals with chipped corners or defective holes, we do not use them, but put them separately. Stone embroidery does not allow the use of low-quality material, since the appearance of the picture depends on it;

    Having laid several rows, we take a metal stationery ruler and carefully trim the finished horizontal and vertical rows. This procedure will significantly reduce the distance between the crystals, making the canvas of the painting monolithic;

    Having finished working on the peeled off piece of the circuit, we move on to the next one, following the entire algorithm of the above actions;

    After the entire diamond mosaic is assembled, we trim the edges again to obtain a uniform texture of the canvas;

    When the embroidered surface is ready, using a knife or scissors, we trim the work as accurately as possible, strictly along the edge;

    In our case, the canvas is small and does not require additional joining; If mosaic pictures of large sizes are assembled, then exact alignment of all fragments is required, with the corresponding, according to the scheme, filling the boundaries of the connection. To do this, on each part of the canvas, leave 1 empty column of the diagram, in the place where the parts are supposed to be connected. The resulting elements are glued end-to-end, and then empty columns are laid out with rhinestones of the desired colors.

    For a more secure fixing, mosaic pictures can be covered with a thin layer of silicate glue. In order to preserve the original appearance of the product, we will place it under the glass, which by its plane will press down on our work;

The next step is to create a solid foundation for our painting.

Instruction card

Prepare equipment and materials on the desktop

I advise you to put rhinestones (or the color you are working with at the moment) in some convenient container. It is inconvenient to work from a bag, and also the supplied pallets are not always convenient to use

Rhinestone saucer, hollow tip pencil

Silicone glue

Match and check the colors of the rhinestones and their designation on the diagram

Fabric blank, color chart

When working, be careful - there are defects in the sets of rhinestones (chips, blotches on individual elements). Rhinestones are usually in a set with a margin, so they should be enough to complete the picture.

Rhinestones

An adhesive layer is applied to the base, and a protective film is applied on top of it. Peel off the protective film a little and lay out the rhinestones in rows according to the scheme. Begin gluing from a corner or horizontally in rows. Make sure that the adhesive layer does not dry out! Do not remove the protective film from the entire base at once and do not touch the base with your hands, always use tweezers / pencils! Press the rhinestones firmly to the base.

Hollow tip pencil, tweezers

Next, we go directly to laying out stones. To do this, using tweezers, we take a stone numbered in accordance with the color of the scheme and carefully place it in the desired cell on the scheme

Hollow tip pencil tweezers, ruler

Fill out the finished work, and it will definitely take its rightful place in your interior or with your friends or relatives!

Diamond mosaic diagram - what is it

Diamond mosaic or diamond embroidery is a form of artistic creation that has become noticeably popular in recent years. It is quite similar to embroidery with beads, but instead of beads, square colored mosaic tiles are usually used, which are not sewn, but glued to the base. The basis is usually a printed diamond mosaic scheme with symbolic images of the palette colors involved.

Diamond mosaic diagram - a brief history of its appearance

Some researchers consider the mosaic of the Italian Ravenna to be the progenitor of modern diamond mosaic. Ravenna is a city in Italy near the Adriatic Sea, located near the city and airport of Rimini. Ravenna has a rich history, for example, at the border of the millennium of the New Era, it was the capital of the Roman Empire. Until now, in this place there are many perfectly preserved monuments of those times, many of which are decorated with simply stunning mosaics, which is, for example, the Basilica. Many of Ravenna's monuments are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Surely the ancient masters-creators of these masterpieces used some kind of draft models before assembling their masterpieces. These were also diamond mosaic schemes, but not computer ones. Now, for a reasonable price, everyone has access to the computer program "Diamond Mosaic with MyJane", which makes it easy to make such a scheme from a photo.

Below are some pictures of the mosaics from the Basilica of Ravenna.

We create diamond paintings - beautiful and easy

I have been doing diamond paintings for a long time and I have already written about them on this blog. First, I bought schemes with rhinestones and made pictures for myself, made, gave to friends, household members. Now I work more and more with them, buying ready-made is simply expensive and pointless. Sometimes I make portraits to order, and just images of the customer's choice.

Not so long ago, I came across a special program with which you can draw up a scheme for diamond paintings yourself. Then, according to this scheme, it is not difficult to order the necessary rhinestones in the online store and an adhesive checkered base.

Here is the original photo and what I got in this program:

Just imagine this picture, which will still shine and shimmer depending on the lighting.

So, the program features:

The selection of colors and rhinestones, moreover, is separate, which is important. You can exclude some of them, or, on the contrary, add a new color;
- the ability to reshape the image. Moreover, make it both smaller and larger. In this regard, there is perfect freedom, which is very convenient and often necessary;
- there is manual editing, moreover, you can not only correct, but directly add, change, finish as needed, even contrary to the original image. For example, add a leaf to a flower for symmetry, or make the eyes more expressive in a portrait;
- gorgeous post-processing with color correction. The program creates really realizable, moreover, it is comfortable and affordable realizable schemes;
- you can manually change the colors. For example, in the photo from which the diagram is made, they are rather faded, as is often the case with portraits to order from a photograph, for example. And you can make them bright enough automatically. And then add something else, correct, correct manually. And it turns out just incredibly beautiful. Of course, all this could already be done in the process of laying out, as many craftsmen I know do, but it doesn’t work as well as when it’s all done by a professional program.

There are 3 program options:

Basic, advanced and master versions, how they differ can be read on the website: http://almaznaja-mozaika.ru

Here's the process for working with the master version:

1. Load the picture, choose the number of colors and size, create a scheme:

2. Here you can correct the color, add or remove. And here you can make a partial stitching of the picture, if you need to cover not the whole picture with rhinestones, but only the selected fragment.

3. And the last mode, I like most of all, here you can create. Add, draw, correct everything as your heart desires.

After finishing editing, save everything. The program gives us a Legend for the scheme - colors and quantity of rhinestones by color and in grams

as well as the circuit itself in several versions. On separate sheets in large format and one large for printing along with a palette of colors.

What I personally liked

I liked the most, of course, the price. A year of work with software pays off already on two or three schemes. Now I understand how much manufacturers earn from them. And this despite the fact that they also buy materials at wholesale prices. It is quite possible that it is according to such a program that they work, well, or on some kind of similar one, for sure.

Perfectly translates, almost no manual editing required. More precisely, I often use this type of image editing, but not in order to fix the "jambs" of the program, but in order to finish drawing something on my own, with my own hands. And such freedom of creativity cannot but please.

The quality of even the first version is simply amazing. To be honest, sometimes in the store you buy more carelessly made schemes than the program just gives out in a minute. So the point here is not only to make a diagram of a given and specific image, but also the quality, ease of implementation will then often be better than the purchased options.
