From what to make a New Year's wreath with your own hands. How to make a wreath with your own hands: base, frame and decoration. How to hang a decorative element

There are a huge number of master classes on making New Year's wreaths on the Internet. But most of them begin with the words: "Take the base for the wreath ..." But where can I get it? After all, most of us live in small towns where needlework stores do not shine with a variety of assortment.

The problem is solved unexpectedly simply, you don’t even have to buy anything, you probably have everything you need in your house!)

This MK is based on the one already known on the Internet, but heavily revised and supplemented. The author of the first version seems to be impossible to find.
The base ring for the wreath needs a rounded (!) thickness. Rounded are usually ready-made wreath bases - synthetic or woven from branches, but they are rare in stores. Therefore, inexpensive and "environmentally friendly", since from recycled materials, such a base can be made independently. Cut out a ring with a diameter of about 30 cm from thick or corrugated cardboard, with a hole inside with a diameter of about 17 cm.

Take unnecessary magazine pages and twist each into a tight roll, glue the edge so that it does not unfold. Lay several rolls in a circle on a cardboard base and intercept with tape in several places. On the wrong side of the circle, make the thickness in the same way.

Another layer on the front side, already one roll wide, will add roundness to the wreath. On the wrong side, you do not need to add thickness.

Winding the workpiece with textile materials will help to add evenness and thickness, most conveniently elastic (take tights here!). Secure the ends with tape.

Now that the base of the wreath is generally formed and fairly even, it can be wrapped with a fabric of the desired color, in this case pink lace. Choose the fabric in the color of the intended decorations, because in some places the background can be seen among them. My jewelry was pink, so I wrapped the wreath in pink lace.

You see - everything is simple and fast, and the wreath is light and voluminous, as it should be!

You can see the final look of this wreath come up with your own or find a nice option on the web.

Very often, needlewomen create wreaths to decorate a room, to create a festive mood. A decorative wreath can be made for any holiday. But sometimes when creating it, there is a difficulty at the very beginning of the creative process - there is no basis for a wreath. Today I will tell you about 10 ways to make the basis for a wreath with your own hands.

First way

The easiest and most expensive is to buy a ready-made base for a wreath in a store. Ready-made bases come from foam, vine, rotogan, straw, iron rods. You already choose the material that best suits your composition.

Second way

The second method was suggested by Igor Linnik. First, you need to cut out the stencil base of the future wreath from cardboard. By the way, it does not have to be a ring, the shape can be any - a circle, a star, a heart.
Next, with the help of some thick paper (wrapping paper, newspaper), you need to create volume for the future wreath. The paper must be tightly compressed and connected with a cardboard stencil using a rope or wire, carefully equalizing it.
The result is a beautiful base for a wreath.

Third way

The basis for a wreath is easy to make from paper, even without a stencil. Simply by forming with your hands the shape that you have in mind. We can say that this is a lightweight version of the previous method.

Fourth way

You can make a base for a wreath out of paper in another way. Wind the tubes from newspapers and form a ring out of them, gluing the tubes around the perimeter.

Fifth way

If you are planning a small wreath, the base can be cut out of an aluminum baking dish. The shape of the future wreath will depend on the configuration of the baking dish - round, square or rectangular.

Sixth way

What is not made from plastic bottles! It turns out you can make the base of the wreath. It is necessary to cut the bottles, connect them together in a ring, fastening with glue or tape.

Seventh way

The bases for a foam wreath can be bought at the store, or you can do it yourself. Styrofoam can be taken packaging, or you can buy a sheet of foam at a hardware store. It is necessary to apply the contour of the wreath to the foam and cut out the base with a sharp clerical knife.

Eighth way

In my opinion, such bases for a wreath are very pretty and practical. I made the base for the heart in this way.
To work, you will need a heater for pipes. You can take the remnants of the repair or buy in plumbing stores. Such a heater costs a penny. You can buy a heater of different diameters, the choice is very wide.
Everything is done very simply. Cut off the insulation of the desired length and glue the ends. There is just one little trick. In order for the base for the wreath to keep its shape well and not to bend, it is necessary to bend the insulation with the seam outward. As a result, you will get a perfectly round wreath base.

If the insulation is large in diameter and does not bend very well, then you can glue the ends with a piece of pipe.

Ninth way

The basis for a wreath can be formed from cardboard tubes from toilet paper. They just need to be glued together and secured with masking tape.

Tenth way

Some craftsmen use clothes hangers to make wreaths. Two circles are formed from the hanger, which are connected to each other with a bandage or wire.

If there are no wire hangers, then use ordinary plastic ones.

When the basis for a decorative wreath made with your own hands is ready, you can turn on your imagination and decorate the wreath depending on the holiday and your equipment.

Decorating the house with a Christmas and New Year wreath is a very beautiful custom that came to us from Western countries. A few years ago, such wreaths looked rather exotic in Russia. But today it is an absolutely typical type of house decoration on the eve of Christmas, which is made from spruce branches and four candles, fixed vertically or placed on a table. According to Catholic custom, the first candle is lit on the first Sunday of the four-week fast - Advent, on the next Sunday - the second, and so on.

This fragile wreath was made from Christmas decorations and frost. Just shine.

Artificial spruce branches can also be used to make a wreath, it is not at all necessary to destroy the trees.

Why only toys and snowmen, a butterfly on a Christmas wreath also looks harmonious.

Rowan twigs, dried flowers and pine spruce branches - your wreath will be the best.

Christmas wreaths owe their appearance to the Hamburg Lutheran theologian Johann Hinrich Wiehern, who took on the upbringing of children from poor families. In the post, they kept asking when Christmas would come. And in order to make it easy for children to count the time until the holiday, in 1839 Wichern made a wreath based on the old wheel, which was decorated with nineteen small red and four large white candles. Every morning, one small candle was lit in a wreath, and on Sundays a large one was added to them.

The symbolism of Christmas wreaths highlights several basic meanings. At first, the addition of fire and light in wreaths symbolized the growing expectation of the birth of Jesus Christ - the light of the world. To everything was added the interpretation of the round shape, the symbolism of the wreath, due to spruce greenery, the colors of candles and decorative ribbons acquired additional significance. So Christmas wreaths and four candles began to be associated with the meaning of the globe and the four cardinal points. The circle is considered to be a symbol of eternal life that Sunday gives, the green color is the embodiment of life itself, and the candles are the light that illuminates the world on Christmas days. In the Christmas tradition, it is customary to decorate wreaths with three purple candles and one pink candle, which corresponds to the liturgical colors of worship during the Advent period. The pink candle is lit on the third week of Advent, when Sunday is called Gaudete, or Rejoice!

And such a bright wreath can be made from bright scraps of fabric. Below the picture you will find a detailed master class.

DIY Christmas wreath

Of course, today you can buy these symbolic wreaths anywhere. But what could be better, more reverent and even more majestic, how to make a christmas wreath with your own hands and decorate your holiday home with it. This will hide the real mystery of waiting for a miracle, although it would seem that this is just needlework, the result of which will be a New Year's toy, of which there are already many. After all, few people observe fasting, and only a few adhere to the ritual of lighting candles.

Is this an artificial tree or a real one? I don’t see the difference, but I’ll make a wreath exactly from an artificial one, why kill a living tree?

Fir needs to be trimmed and cleaned regularly. and from cut branches and fallen cones you can make such a wonderful wreath.

Fluffy, bright and in a scarf, so as not to catch a cold on New Year's Eve - such a wreath will be to the delight of children.

But this spruce spruce branch definitely appeared after trimming the spruce. And they got rid of dry twigs (let the tree rejoice), and weaved a wreath. It is not necessary to cut down a beautiful blue spruce for the holiday week.

An owl and a charming Christmas flower poinsettia coexist peacefully on the wreath.

But in the process of making this beauty, a person is subconsciously imbued with the sacredness of the action and, to complete the work, is fully overwhelmed with a sense of the triumph of the holiness of the upcoming event. As for the degree of complexity of making a wreath, there is nothing difficult about it. In addition, you should not deny yourself the joy of doing joint creativity with your children. And after determining the type of wreath and preparing the necessary materials, you can start working without any doubt.

From a tie, feathers, balloons, there are no wreaths!

So, in a wreath, the main thing is the base, its base, which will keep the decoration from scattering. The base is created from any suitable item. The classic base is natural raw materials in the form of straw, twigs, vines and even the rim of a wooden wheel. At worst, you can use wire. But in practice, any improvised material is taken as the basis of the wreath. So an excellent base will turn out from wires twisted and fixed in the form of a circle (for example, a simple extension cord). A piece of hose, a thick cardboard that can be glued together from several layers of a thinner one, newspapers compressed into bundles and fixed with a thin wire, a fabric in the form of a roller filled with cotton wool or padding polyester, and similar materials will also do.

Classic pine wreath.

But this candlestick wreath will sparkle with a gentle flicker from the candle flame.

Toys, beads, nuts and garlic - you can immediately see the hostess in the house.

To do DIY Christmas wreath, you will have to stock up on garden wire or twine, scissors or pruners, glue or liquid nails, and also a decoration for a wreath. For a traditional wreath, you will need a spruce or pine spruce branch, which can be replaced with a thuja or holly branch. You can also make a wreath that will be a decoration "for centuries" if you use artificial spruce branches, and then periodically change the decor. By the way, you can decorate a wreath not only with the usual New Year decorations, but also with everything that your imagination can tell you. For example - dried flowers, cones, berries, fruits, vegetables, cinnamon sticks, spices, citrus peel cut in a spiral, cayenne pepper, tangerines, apples, artificial and fresh flowers, candies, sweets, Christmas cookies, garlands, Christmas tree decorations , decorative braid, beads and ribbons. Ordinary brushes and paints, silver and gold sprays and artificial snowballs will also come in handy.

Such a wreath of ribbons can be made even by a baby under mother's and father's guidance.

Take a wire ring as a base and generously decorate it with ribbon bows.

Who would have thought that a wreath of mints can be made from an ordinary dry-cleaner's hanger.

The handmade store sells such soft blanks for a wreath, you just have to buy red felt and cut out circles of the same size from it.

From felt circles and invisibility we form flowers and generously decorate our wreath.

Do you have an old hoop lying around or just a round base? Decorate it with tinsel and the wreath is ready!

Practical advice will also not be superfluous, for example, how to make a wreath from pine or spruce branches. Usually, a frame is first made of wire or other rigid material. Then coniferous branches of the desired length are cut and weaving of the wreath begins. The branches are laid in a clockwise direction, and the bare part of the previous branch is covered by the lush part of the next. The second layer is woven in the opposite direction, which will help to add volume to the product. Between themselves, the branches are fastened with wire, and it is better to take green, which will be invisible against the background of needles. Thin garden or craft wire will also work. The number of layers is taken such that Christmas wreath, handmade done, will be pleasing to the eye. Then the wreath is braided with a satin ribbon and decorated with materials of your choice. Usually such a wreath is hung on the front door or on the wall, and also placed on a coffee table or shelf. But the future location of the wreath needs to be thought out in advance, because it can turn out to be quite heavy, which will not hold on to the mount of adhesive tape or pushpin, and you don’t always want to spoil the wall with a thick nail. Therefore, even before starting work with a wreath, you need to decide on its placement. If it is possible to fix it vertically on a strong mount, then you can make a heavy version of the wreath, and if the mount is rather flimsy, then it is better to choose a lighter form, which makes the decoration no worse. And if you still want to make a weighty thing, but the mount did not work out, then you can place the wreath on a horizontal surface - a table, shelf, stand. But here it will be possible to let your imagination run wild and load the wreath with any, even the heaviest toys. It will look so beautiful rather heavy, but very symbolic Christmas wreath of cones, decorated with gold spray, artificial snow, nuts and apples. Candles are traditionally inserted into such a wreath laid on the table. To fix them well, you can heat the wire and stick it perpendicularly into the base of the candle, then fix the wire to the main frame and decorate the lower part by a third with coniferous branches.

All. what you need for this wreath is sold in the supermarket, you just need to strictly adhere to our master class.

However, it is not necessary to use straw for a wreath; a regular blank is also suitable.

Such a beautiful wreath of red balls is made quickly and easily. Read our master class.

Take the wire hanger. Such hangers are given in dry cleaners.

Use pliers to separate the hanger.

Prepare several sets of balls of different diameters.

By the way. it took us about 80 balls to work.

String the balls on the base so close to each other that the wire is not visible.

If the balls start to stray and roll, fix them with a drop of glue-seconds.

Your wreath should be tight.

When the last piece of jewelry is put on, twist the ends of the hanger.

Now wrap the hook with red ribbon.

Attach the tape with glue.

All you have to do is make a bow out of the ribbon and tie it to the wreath.

Although not only the base is made from almost any suitable material. The wreath itself and its decoration can also be made as an absolutely unexpected fruit of your own imagination. So you can create a wreath of buttons of different diameters and styles, attached to a cardboard base and suspended with a strap with a round buckle. You can also dispossess your husband and make a creative wreath of ties wound around a plastic rim so that the tongues look beautifully outside the jewelry like flower petals. An absolutely unexpected option is a newspaper wreath: strips of paper are collected in the form of a three-dimensional flower and strung on a wire frame. You can decorate a wreath of spruce paws with small Christmas balls and memorable family photos. Since the area is not particularly expected, you will have to limit yourself to five or six small photos.

hang up Christmas wreaths on the door can be done without much difficulty: you need to tie a beautiful ribbon on the inside to the fittings or door handle, throw it over the top of the door leaf and fix it in a suitable place with a button, tape or carnation. This will depend on the weight of the decoration and the material from which the door is made, since you definitely cannot hammer nails into the armored canvas. On the front side, the wreath itself clings to the ribbon; from inside the room, the ribbon is usually decorated with cones, toys and rain.

But such a wreath can be made from red ribbons and burlap.

Hanging wreaths are usually made from lightweight material. Therefore, you can wrap a tire from a children's bicycle with a beautiful striped fabric, decorate it with beads and small postcards. It would be nice to pick up postcards in the old style. And from such a material, a wreath will definitely become your favorite: take a handful of small balls and decorate them with a circle made of the same wire. It will turn out a soft and fluffy multi-colored caterpillar, curled up in a ring. Fast and cute. Everyone will probably love the idea of making a wreath out of dried citrus rings attached to a paper ring. The wreath can be decorated with a spruce branch and a bunch of bright red Christmas balls with the same ribbon. Fragrant, beautiful and fun! A wreath made of vines, on which snowflakes of all shades of blue are glued, looks fragile and elegant. The impression is that they have just descended from the sky onto a vine branch. Very gentle Christmas wreath it will turn out from azure ribbons, collected in ruffles and decorated with small snow-white balls, similar to snowballs. You can also assemble such a wreath from separate modules using the origami technique. To do this, modules of the same size in the amount of approximately 60 pieces are folded from green colored paper of several shades. Assembled triangles are placed on a cardboard sheet with a wreath-shaped circle drawn in the upper part: from a darker color to a lighter one, which will create the illusion of volume. At the same time, the acute angle of the module is hidden under the previous figures, as in real branches. Then a candle made of pink cardboard with a yellow flame made of paper is “placed” in the center of the wreath. Paper snowflakes cling to the serpentine ribbons, as if hanging from a wreath. A cardboard sheet can be taken into a wooden frame or an edging can be made from the same bright cardboard. That's it - unexpected and cute. Happy holidays to you!

DIY Christmas wreath video

Touching on the “green” topic, that is, the recycling of unnecessary things, I noticed a funny pattern - the most popular product (regardless of what was used as a material - plastic bottles or woolen threads) was the Christmas and New Year wreath! And, of course, it became interesting to collect all the possible options for such wreaths. But first, a couple of composition tips!

When creating your wreath, be careful with the use of a large number of details - only one thing should be the main one, everything else is secondary. For example, when working on a paper wreath with many clippings and photos, focus on the main thing - the photo. So, everything else should be neutral in color and shape. Do not weigh down the side parts of the wreath, place everything massive either on top or below. Before you begin to fold the wreath, put all the components side by side and see if nothing “falls out” of the total mass with its color or shape? Believe me, it's easier to throw out some detail now than later - a finished wreath!

1. Clothespins

Use an aluminum hanger for the frame and beads for decoration (choose beads so that they easily "sit" on the wire). Unroll the hanger and start collecting, stringing clothespins and beads alternately. Clothespins pre-paint with gouache or acrylic. You can also decorate them with decoupage, glue buttons, beads, fir branches to them. Attach a large bow or soft toy to the finished wreath (Snowman, Santa Claus, funny deer ...).

2.Egg tray

Take a closer look at the empty tray and you will notice how its cells are similar in shape to half-blown buds. In the photo - an Easter wreath and therefore it is decorated with eggshells, but our task is to make the same flowers. Carefully cut out the cells and give them the shape of a bud. The cellulose, which is part of the tray, can be perfectly painted with any paint, so feel free to experiment with color, because fabulous Christmas flowers can even be green or purple! Fasten the finished buds to the frame (branches, wire, polystyrene) and decorate it additionally with beaded branches, corrugated paper, Christmas tree balls, etc.

3.Socks

It's funny, but such material as socks can be a chic basis for a Christmas wreath! They can be randomly strung on a cardboard base, or they can be folded in the form of “roses” and decorate a wreath with them.

4. Buttons

Cardboard, glue and a handful of buttons. And it turns out from this all a very elegant and stylish element of decor!

5. Wine corks

This version of the wreath is made according to the same principle as the wreath of clothespins. For greater strength, use two circles of wire - a larger one and a smaller one. String corks on both circles in parallel, alternating them with beads. Decorate the finished work with ribbon, bells, branches or toys.

6.Newspapers

Got a lot of waste paper? Make a solid "newspaper" decor in the house - toys, angels, garlands, gift wrapping, candle decor ... You can use newspapers or magazines everywhere. And let the real "highlight" be a wreath of paper tubes.

7. Paper or napkins

Very airy and “light” wreaths are obtained from such material. Don't be afraid to try and experiment - use magazine clippings, colorful stamps, postcards, your family photos, fancy envelopes, paper snowflakes, etc. Do not glue everything on the base at once, apply, assemble, remove something, change something, and only then proceed to the final “collection”.

8. Cardboard

A very interesting idea - a wreath with cells for gifts! It is not necessary to pick up small presents for this, because here you can put something besides the main gift - an envelope with a postcard, a candy, a lottery ticket, a theater ticket, a note with wishes ... The role of "cells" can be played by cardboard frames from under toilet paper, lids from toothpaste, etc.

9. Spruce twigs and twigs

The first wreaths were made from branches. And only from the branches. Such wreaths have a big plus - the breathtaking smell of pine needles, but also a small minus - it is short-lived. For lovers of traditional options - a small master class ...

10. Pasta

Do you want to surprise everyone, including yourself? Make a Christmas pasta wreath! The technique for making it is quite simple: glue the pasta to the cardboard frame with superglue and cover the finished work with spray paint. A wreath of figured pasta looks very original in itself, but you can complement it with fir branches, netting, bells, etc.

11. Fruits and berries

What exactly to use as a material is up to you. But to understand how to fix it all together is our common task. Dried citrus slices are easily glued to cardboard or polystyrene, apples can be strung on a wire frame (you only need to use a strong enough wire so that it does not bend under the pressure of apples), rowan and physalis branches can be stuck into plasticine or "foam". In another case, you need to use plastic fruits, as the real ones are too heavy.

12. Christmas balls

The technique is simple: string the balls on a wire bent in a circle and attach them to each other with glue (so that the wreath acquires a beautiful shape). Such works look especially beautiful if they are made in the same color or in the same color scheme.

13. Sweets

There is one minus of "sweet" wreaths - they tend to "melt", especially if there are sweet-toothed kids in the house. Candies can be attached to a pre-prepared frame with threads, glue, wire. And you can use toothpicks, as is the case with marmalade. Only for this you need to get a soft frame - foam or "foam".

14. Balloons

Tie a lot of balloons around the wire frame and that's it! You don't even need to inflate them.

15. Ties

Another extraordinary idea. But now the question - what to do with old and disliked ties - has been resolved.

A Christmas wreath is an obligatory attribute of the New Year holidays, and recently a pine needle ring decorated with satin ribbons and candles was a rarity for us. Created in the middle of the 19th century in Hamburg, a calendar wheel helped illiterate children of the poor to count the weeks and days remaining until December 25, the birthday of Jesus Christ.

The beautiful tradition quickly spread all over the world, and before each New Year, more and more doors, windows show off to each other with variously executed Christmas symbols. You can buy a ready-made wreath for Christmas, but it’s more interesting to make it yourself, decorate it in your own way, adding your favorite colors and details.

What should be remembered?

  1. A wreath is always a circle, a ring without end or edge.
  2. There are no strict rules in decoration - only fantasy and good mood.
  3. A place for a Christmas wreath - on the front door, in the window, on the table.

Material

The key to success is a good foundation: a circle made of cardboard, plywood, wood, dense foam, even preferably with a hole in the center.

The traditional filling material is spruce paws, candles and satin ribbons, but any other, familiar or just nearby, can be used.

Sweet Christmas wreath

Confectionery is a great material for crafts! Everything is suitable: cookies, especially curly ones, colored caramels, marshmallows, marmalades, chocolates in shiny wrappers. The photo shows different types of sweets that make up a wonderful winter ensemble.

All this deliciousness is arranged in a circle and fastened with wooden toothpicks on a pre-baked large sweet dough bagel or on any other basis. Unusual, bright, delicious.

Try to make a New Year's symbol from other products - sausages, groceries. different types and sizes, and even painted with bright colors, cause a smile, laughter and quite a New Year's mood. And tinsel, burlap, newspapers!

gifts of nature

They draw inspiration by painting and laying out pine cones, red rowan berries, juniper branches in a circle. You can connect the composition with glue, pins, carnations, multi-colored threads, twine and always red or white satin ribbons. The proposed photos are already embodied ideas, choose or create. And by the link - as many as 7 master classes about.

Wreath of Christmas balls

The most affordable material for making a wreath is old Christmas balls. They are very easy to attach to the foam base using paper clips. If desired, you can add real or artificial spruce branches.

Felt Christmas wreath

Skillful hands make a lot, besides, there is always one or two soft toys of animals, snowmen in the house. A little imagination - and funny figures will line up in anticipation of a solemn winter event.

Newspaper and paper Christmas wreath

This simple and affordable material is always at hand, and unusual ideas are in the photo!

Ribbon decor

Even the smallest needlewomen will cope with such wreaths. Take a large number of ribbons and artistically arrange them on a circle.

Shape Variations

Classical wreaths are round in shape, but modern wreaths have many variations and creative solutions: rectangular, square, heart-shaped and herringbone.

Simple master classes for everyone

From Christmas toys

And now a small instruction, a master class with step-by-step photos on making a beautiful Christmas wreath.

Wrap the base ring tightly with yarn or braid of any color. Attach multi-colored balls of all colors in random order to the base (with pins, brackets, paper clips).

Dried fruit wreath

A necklace made of rings of dried oranges, tangerines without a middle, strung on a thick wire, is well complemented with a real Christmas bow made of dyed burlap. How to do this is clearly visible in the photographs.

Brushwood and balls

Weave the base from thin twigs of willow, birch for strength, pulling the project together with twine. On a dark background of tree bark - touching foam snowflakes, sparkling tinsel, a translucent nylon bow.

Hearth symbol - textiles

A wreath of a needlewoman - balls of multi-colored yarn, fastened with knitting needles with fragments of a knitted fabric. Fluffy pom-poms will do too.

How to make pompoms: cut out two identical rings from cardboard, wrap them not very tightly with multi-colored fluffy yarn, cut its layer along the outer edge and, passing the wire between the layers of cardboard, pull off the middle of the pompom (see photo). The long ends of the wire will serve as a fastener between the pompoms. The number of them depends on the possibility and desire of the author, as well as the final decor.

If there are no skills in working with threads, knitting needles, a needle - just wrap the ring with a knitted sweater - the texture of knitwear creates a wonderful image of soft homely warmth. One - two bright bows, a cardboard figurine of an angel, a deer, will remind you of the New Year holiday, Christmas.

Whatever the Christmas wreath is made of, it always symbolizes joy, anticipation, invites to get together to meet the most solemn and significant day of the year, to wish each other peace and happiness.
