If you learn the basics, in the future you will not be afraid of beautiful products with a jacquard pattern, unusual in the "patchwork" style, new models with braids, very cool with an ornament, etc.

Knitting socks on 5 needles

This technique involves knitting the product without a single seam. The socks are knitted in a spiral, as a result of which they ideally lie on the leg.

Socks on five knitting needles are knitted on top of the sock to the toe in circular knitting, loops are drawn on four knitting needles, the fifth is working.

The number of loops is calculated based on the circumference of the leg. Take two foot measurements:

1st - lifting circle; with a centimeter, measure the leg from the heel to the rise along an inclined plane.

2nd - leg circumference; is measured at the foot, at the thinnest point of the leg, above the bone.

Then we determine the average circumference: add the lifting and leg circumferences and divide the resulting figure by 2. For example, the lifting circumference is 31 cm, the leg circumference is 21 cm; we get 31 + 21 = 52, 52_2 = 26 cm. For this number of centimeters, we calculate the set of loops. It is advisable to round the resulting number of loops to a number divisible by 4, so that it is convenient to knit on 4 knitting needles.

We collect the required number of loops, distribute them to 4 knitting needles and knit an elastic band in a circular stitch. Usually the elastic is 5-6 cm, but you can knit even smaller - if you wish. Then knit 7-8 cm knit to the heel. We knit the heel on two knitting needles from half of the loops, and leave the other half on unused knitting needles. On two knitting needles we knit a knitted fabric 5.5 - 6 cm, this is the height of the heel. Depending on the rise of the leg, it may be less, but starting from the 35th leg size, this is a constant value.

Then, to give the heel a shape, we make a heel descent: we divide all the loops into three parts. If there are extra loops, then we attach them to the central part (if the number of loops is not divisible by 3). We will knit the loops of the central part further, and gradually attach the loops of the side parts (they will form the sides of the heel) to the loops of the central part.

We start the descent of the loops from the seamy side to finish it from the front. We knit two thirds of the loops with the purl, then 2 loops together - the last loop from the central part and the first loop from the third part - we knit them together with the purl. After that, we turn the knitting and knit along the front side of the heel, while at the turn we remove the first loop without knitting.

Knit with the front one, we knit the last loop of the central part and the first loop of the first part with a broach (remove the first loop, knit the second with the front one, then transfer the removed loop to the knitted one). We turn knitting again, remove the first loop without knitting, etc.

We continue knitting until all the side loops are closed. Now we collect loops from the side of the heel, from each second row we collect 1 loop + 1 additional loop, i.e. from 2 rows we collect 3 loops. We turn to circular knitting, we take into work the loops from the left knitting needles, the newly recruited loops from the lateral parts of the heel and the loops of the central part of the heel. Knit one row with knit stitch. Then in each 2nd circular row, for a better fit of the heel, we knit the 3rd and 2nd loops from the end of the 1st knitting needles together with the front loop and the 2nd and 3rd loops of the 4th knitting needles together with a broach.

We repeat the decrease until the original number of loops is reached (set to start knitting the product). Next, we knit the foot with the front knit in a circle to the bone of the thumb or to the end of the little finger. Then we knit the toe of the sock. We reduce the loops as follows: in each 2nd row of the 3rd and 2nd loops from the end of the 1st and 3rd knitting needles we knit together with the front loops, and the 2nd and 3rd loops of the 2nd and 4th knitting needles together with a broach. When half of the loops remain on the needles, we perform such reductions in each circular row until 4 loops remain. We tighten them with a thread and fasten them.

Using two knitting needles (easiest way)

You have already learned how to knit the simplest model on five knitting needles, so we proceed to knitting on 2 knitting needles (you can use circular knitting needles). The knitting of such a model allows you to make patterns of any complexity, but many are confused by the seam. But if you manage to finish beautifully and connect the seams correctly, the seam will be invisible visually and to the touch.

To start knitting, we calculate the number of loops based on the circumference of the leg.

For example, we take 48 loops, we collect them + 2 hem (50 loops in total) for 2 knitting needles, we knit a straight fabric 5-6 cm with an elastic band, then with the front satin stitch or the chosen pattern of 7-8 cm.We start knitting the heel: the number of loops (without hem) we divide into 4 parts, it turns out 12 loops each. We will knit the heel on the two middle parts. Knit 12 + 12 + 12 loops (three parts), turn the work and knit 12 + 12 loops (two middle parts). Again we turn the work and knit 12 + 11 loops.

Again we turn the work and knit 11 + 11 loops, etc. That is, in each row we knit 1 less loop (we make shortened rows) until we have 8 loops left in the work. Now we will begin to increase the number of working loops, in each row knitting the loop removed earlier. So that there are no holes in the knitting, we do this: we put on the side loop on the left knitting needle, and we knit this put on and the next one together with the front one. Those. the number of work loops will increase by 1.

Then we turn the knitting, remove the first loop, then purl 8, raise the side loop on the left knitting needle and knit the purl 2 loops together. And so on, until all the loops (12 + 12) are in operation.

Now you start knitting the toe. We again divide the loops into 4 parts - 12 + 12 + 12 + 12. We decrease the loops as follows: in each 2nd row, we knit the 3rd and 2nd loops from the end of the first and third parts together with front loops, and we knit the 2nd and 3rd loops of the second and fourth parts together with a broach. When half of the loops remain on the needles, we perform such reductions in each row until 6 loops remain.

We pull them together with a thread, we sew a sock with the same thread. The seam is made along the top of the sock.

How pleasant it is to wear a thing made with your own hands, but it is doubly pleasant to create for others. I really like to knit. When I have a free minute, I pick up the knitting needles. I learned to knit since childhood. Socks are the first product that I knitted. I will share my knowledge with you.

We knit socks on 5 needles, a master class for beginners

The sock consists of five parts:

  1. cuff,
  2. top part,
  3. heel,
  4. main part,
  5. toe.

To knit socks, we need knitting needles in the amount of 5 pieces with a diameter of 2 - 2.5 mm. We take soft threads. We will need about two balls of 100 g each. If desired, you can add a thread of a different color.

Having mastered the technique of knitting socks on 5 knitting needles, you can try to knit them with 2 knitting needles, see the master class.

We put on the needles the number of loops in multiples of four, I typed 64 loops (a multiple of four), pre-measured the circumference of the foot with a centimeter.

We divide the dialed loops into four knitting needles.

We connect the last loop of the fourth knitting needle and the first loop of the first knitting needle (using a crochet or knitting needle), skipping the remaining thread on the knitting needle.

We tie a knot.

Now we take the fifth knitting needle in our hands and knit the cuff of the sock in a circle.

I knitted an elastic band with a pattern: two front loops, two purl loops.

I like the high elastic in the socks, so my cuff is 9cm or 30 rows. For beauty, I knitted four rows of pink stripes.

After the cuff, knit the upper part of the sock with the front loops, grabbing the upper loop with a knitting needle.

Having knitted 4 cm or 15 rows, we proceed to knitting the heel. Here you can add to the main thread - a simple thread of the same color. This is done so that the heel does not rub quickly and is stronger.

We proceed directly to tying the heel. Heel width is equal to the number of loops on two needles. In my case, 32 loops. We connect the first and fourth knitting needles. Knit 16 rows with front and back stitches. This is the heel height.

Remove the first stitch at the beginning of the row, and knit the last stitch with a purl. This is necessary for a beautiful edge to form.

Now we will knit the bottom of the heel. Divide the number of loops by three. Moreover, on the sides of the loops should be the same, and in the middle - as many as you like. We distribute the loops on three knitting needles. I have 11 loops on the side needles, and 10 in the middle. Knit with front loops: first 11 and middle 9 loops. We knit the tenth with the front loop, and then the first loop of the third knitting needle. Now we lower the tenth loop (i.e. remove the loop from the knitting needle). We will have a chain.

The heel will be rounded. On the side knitting needles, the loops will decrease, because we only knit the middle - ten loops. Expand the knitting needles. Remove the first loop. We knit a row with purl loops. We knit the last loop of the second knitting needle and the first loop of the first knitting needle together with a purl loop. Turn the knitting needles over and knit the front row. Remove the first loop. At the end, we lower the loop, as we already did.

So we knit until the loops on the side knitting needles end.

We turn the sock, with an elastic band towards us and knit a row with front loops. Now we unfold it with the other side and collect the loops from the formed sides of the sock. I had 11 loops on the side knitting needles, which means the same number of loops, I have to dial now. We knit the dialed loops not just with the front loops. We knit them with crossed loops (we take the loop not for the lower part, but for the upper part) so that holes do not form.

Now we knit the main part of the sock, periodically reducing the loops, if necessary. You can find out by measuring the sock. We make reductions in a row, one loop, alternately on each knitting needle.

We knit the main part of the sock to the middle of the thumb.

We proceed to knitting the toe. I have 44 stitches left. We will decrease the loops starting from the second knitting needle. We knit the first eleven loops on the first knitting needle without changes. On the second knitting needle, having knitted eight loops, the next two loops - we knit together at the back walls. The last loop of the knitting needles - knit with the front loop and the first third knitting needles too. We knit the next two loops of the third knitting needle with the front loop for the front walls. Knit with knit stitches to the end of the knitting needle. We knit the fourth knitting needle in the same way, we knit the ninth and tenth loops together with the front one for the back walls and one front loop. In the future, the loops will decrease and you can knit a toe only on two knitting needles. Thus, a chain is formed on the sides of the toe. If we fold the sock in half, then this is clearly visible.

We continue to knit in this pattern until only eight loops remain on the two knitting needles.

Using a crochet hook, thread the thread through the remaining loops.

We tie a knot and hide it inside the sock.

Our sock is ready. It remains to tie the same on the second leg.

Finished products can be lightly steamed with an iron, the threads and seams will straighten, and the thing will look more beautiful.

What can keep your feet warm than knitted socks made from virgin wool or whatever material you choose? Make them yourself, it's not that hard. An irreplaceable thing in the cold season. Present the product to your family for New Year, Christmas or any other holiday to warm those who are dear to you in bad weather. Check out the instructions for beginners below, we will dwell on the most difficult moment - knitting the heel.

To work you need:

  1. choose your own yarn. The thread should be tight, not torn, the color of your choice. Choose the thread material (wool, cotton) yourself;
  2. knitting needles (5 pieces), the thickness is approximately equal to the thread;
  3. scissors.

Instructions:

Getting started, you need to complete a couple of preparatory steps. First, let's calculate the knitting density with which we will knit our socks. One of the simplest (hosiery) will be used during work, you can use another. For the calculation, we knit a centimeter or a couple of centimeters in length, width, and then you can find out how many loops you need to dial. Or on two knitting needles of 10-15 loops along and knitting the same number of rows across, we calculate how many centimeters have turned out. Then, if we found out the number of loops in a centimeter, then we multiply this number by the required length. And if the number of centimeters, then using a light proportion, we also find loops (10-15 taken initially we multiply by the number of centimeters we need, divide the resulting number by centimeters when knitting 10-15 loops). The number of the resulting loops for our work is a multiple of four, since exactly so many knitting needles will be used, and on each it is desirable to use an even number so as not to get confused during work. If the resulting result does not meet the requirements, then it would be better to add loops so that everything fits together.

Below is a diagram of the capture and knitting of the front loop.

The diagram below shows the technique for knitting a purl loop:

Moving on to the sock itself:

Elastic. Top part.

  1. Distribute the required number of loops on 4 knitting needles. First, we knit the required amount on 2 loops, then we move the loops on 4 knitting needles equally to each. The knit depends on the density of the elastic you want to make. In order not to stretch the upper part, we use the 2 * 2 technique (2 front, 2 purl). If you want the elastic to be more mobile and stretch, then you need a 1 * 1 method (1 front, 1 purl).
  2. At the end of knitting the first row, we will close the work. Knit the outermost loop on the very last remaining knitting needle (fourth). Let's go back to the first knitting needle and knit in a circle. The width of the elastic depends on your desire (a couple of centimeters or ten).
  3. We move on to knitting the cuff of the sock. When doing this, use a hosiery knit. You can also choose the length of the cuff yourself.

Toe heel:

This part is the most subject to wear and tear, so more attention should be paid to it.

  1. To knit the heel, you need to take only the first and fourth knitting needles, we will leave the rest free (in general, you can take any two of the four that are next to each other, and the rest do not touch). We will knit the height of our heel. Connect the loops on 1 and 4 knitting needles to one and start working.

  • When knitting the heel, you can take an extra thread that doesn't stretch and knit in a double layer. So that the heel comes out tight and does not rub out very quickly, does not wear out, we will use the following knitting technique:
  • On the front part (remove the first loop (edging), knit 1 front, remove 1, knit 1 front, and so on). We use this method to the end of the row.
  • On the seamy side we knit all the loops (purl).
  • According to this pattern, we knit about 5-8 centimeters (this is the height of the heel).
  • Let's give the shape and volume of the work done, already the end of tying the heel. We divide the number of knitting needles by three, if their number is not evenly divisible, then the middle knitting needle will leave more (we had 55 loops, we left 18 on the side ones, 19 on the middle). Let's start from the first side (any) and the middle part. We will knit the last loop from the second side. Thus, the loops on the side needles will gradually decrease, the shape will become voluminous.
That is, in the first row we will knit 17 loops, and we knit 18 and 19 as one (instead of that one front). Then we will knit 15 loops and from 16 and 17 we will again make one.
  • We turn the work over and continue to knit. Doing all the same actions (we knit the last loop of the middle from the first one from the side).
  • Our heel will gradually form a volumetric shape (boxes). We decrease the loops until they end on the side knitting needles.
  • The heel formed and gradually took the shape we needed.
  • In order to move on to making the sole, we will need to add loops. We will knit them from the edge (extreme lateral) side of the resulting product.
  • The heel itself is ready, then to complete the sock, you will need to knit a length to the little finger with ordinary hosiery. After that, decrease 2 loops to the end of the product, fasten 2 or 4 remaining loops.

The heel is ready! It's not as difficult as it seemed! Good luck with your work!

A reinforced heel was knitted and several decades ago In recent years, needlewomen have returned to it again. Simple knitting pattern + more wear resistant. Suitable for wearing under shoes.

Usually socks are knitted on five knitting needles. Knitting is located at 4, the fifth - we knit.

Knitting of the heel takes place on two needles. The tip of the set of stitches should point towards the inside of the leg. If you fold the knitting so that two knitting needles are on top and two on the bottom, then for the left leg the tip should be on the right. For the right leg - on the left.

We start the reinforced heel by transferring the knitting to one knitting needle. We knit not in a circle, but the front and back row. Knitting on one knitting needle, knitting with the second knitting needle.

Do not knit on the upper knitting needles yet.

You can first knit one front row, one purl.

Reinforced heel. Knitting pattern

Next, we knit according to the scheme: one front loop, one we remove untied, one front, one untied; knit to the end of the row. Knitting on two knitting needles, so we remove the first loop without knitting - this is the first hem. We knit the last loop with a purl. This rule applies to both the front side and the back side. With these edging"pigtails" are formed, from which we will later raise the loops.

We knit from the seamy side all loops purl. We knit the untied loops of the front side too

The loops, which are removed untied, will form a convex pigtail along the pattern.

The length of the heel lift (number of rows) depends on the volume of the leg. For an average fullness, a leg of size 37-39 is enough 12 - 15 rows.

Video instruction

The heel in the toe is the most “washable” part. No wonder our grandmothers and great-grandmothers darned socks in these places. Such a scheme will make this part, vulnerable to holes, stronger.

If you like to knit socks with a simple pattern, for example, a reinforced heel will look great!

After knitting a reinforced heel, the heel itself is knitted. One way is a horseshoe heel. You can see a step-by-step description of knitting.

For these socks, let's take homemade Hutsul wool. It is usually sold in skeins

therefore you need to roll the wool into a ball. For socks up to size 44, 100 grams of wool is enough.

Previously, colored stripes were always inserted into the elastic of socks. So we will start with a different color, especially since the factory-made semi-wool comes with the addition of acrylic and the edge from it will be stronger than from 100% homemade wool.

For sizes 38 to 43, it is enough to cast on 48 loops. You need to calculate the loops so that their number is a multiple of 4.

Divide the dialed loops into 4 knitting needles, 12 loops each, lay them out with a square so that the beginning is connected to the end of the row.

With the fifth knitting needle, we begin to knit in a circle. Thus, we will constantly have 4 working knitting needles, each of which has 12 loops and one fifth knitting needle. We will knit the elastic 2 * 2, that is, two purl and two front.

Having knitted two or three rows, we change the thread to the main one.

You can insert as many strips as you like. I knit with two.

Having tied the elastic to the "bone" on the leg, that is, three to four centimeters before tying the heel, the thread must be "strengthened". To do this, add a thin but strong semi-woolen, cotton or synthetic thread to the main woolen thread. Then you can knit with a smooth knit knit.

Measure your leg well. The bottom end of the bone is the beginning of the knitting of the heel of the toe.

To do this, we leave the loops on two knitting needles, and continue to knit no longer in a circle, but back and forth only on two knitting needles. If you have 24 loops on your heel, then we divide them mentally by 7 + 10 + 7, that is, the middle ten will invariably knit, and the side 7 will connect with them, forming a heel. To restore the connected 7 loops, you will need 7 edging for a set of 7 loops from each side.

To do this, we knit 14 rows on two needles. Look at the photo from the front.

and a view from the back.

In the fifteenth row we knit 7 loops, then 9 loops, and knit the tenth together with the next (of the next seven loops).

Having knitted 9 loops, we again knit two together, already taking one loop from the other extreme seven.

Having knitted two together, we turn in the other direction.

Thus, the middle 10 will be knitted with us, and the extreme ones will decrease each row.

A heel begins to form.

Look at the photo, we have 10 loops left on one knitting needle, and the outermost ones on both sides are connected to them, forming a right angle.

Now we restore the missing loops. First, we collect seven loops from the left edge stitches, then we knit the loops on the left two knitting needles and go to the right edge loops.

on the right side we also cast on 7 loops. now the number of loops is restored and you can again divide the total number into 4 equal parts, 12 for each needle.

Such a beautiful heel should turn out. Bottom view.

Side view of the heel.

If you knit a sock on a narrow leg with a slight rise, then you can decrease one loop on each knitting needle and leave 11. It is better to decrease the decrease from the side and through a row or two so that it is not sharp. The photo shows: on one side, two loops have been reduced through two rows, the same is done on the other side.

In the process of knitting, the sock should be periodically tried on or measured with a ruler so as not to knit too wide or narrow.

Three centimeters before the end, we begin to run the sock. We do this one loop on each knitting needle for each row. Decrease should be done better at the end of the spoke and to the right.

The last four loops can be pulled together one at a time.

It turns out such a neat sock.

Check the size again, until you have hidden the end of the thread, and the launch of the sock can still be unwrapped and performed over again.

Check the size and the side and the size of the sole.

It seems the sock turned out to be "fit"

And the owner of the socks admires them from all sides.

It remains to hide all the tails.
