New Year's home atmosphere. Simple ways to create a New Year's atmosphere at home. It's all about

Most people at the end of a tough day don't have time to do some distraction. But at the end of the year, you traditionally want to do something to decorate your home and create a special festive New Year's atmosphere. Here you will find some ideas for quickly and easily decorating your home without wasting a lot of time and money. And you still have time to fully enjoy the holiday!

Most of our recipes are very simple: many of them do not require spending, and they all do not take much time and effort.

1. We decorate everything with bows

Decorate generously with ribbons on chair backs, candles, plant stems, wreaths, garlands, drawer handles, stairs, doorknobs.

Bows look festive. The ribbons you use should “knit” with the rest of the decor. Choose braid colors and textures that suit the overall design.

You don't have to get attached to the red and green combination. Choose plaid or floral fabric. If you don't find anything suitable, opt for silver, gold, green or red.

Choose ribbons that you can untie and tie next year. This will save money in the long run, and you will have a good collection.

When the holidays are over, untie the ribbons and press down lightly. The bows will remain intact, and when you take them out next year, they will be ready for use.

Look for instructions on how to make flower bows using wire. With wire, you can attach the bow wherever you want.

2. Use a festive decoration for every dinner in December

Look into your sideboard and select only those dishes that look like festively.

On sale before the holidays, you can buy high-quality branded tableware, as well as uncommon models with interesting designs.

Start picking up your party tableware set with dishes that go with your everyday plates. Add new items every year, such as salad bowls or glasses. Just make sure you can find the same pattern next year and beyond.

Buy 1-2 items every year. So soon you will be able to solemnly set the table.

If you're inclined to take risks, choose a different pattern and one piece each year. Set the table with different plates and get tons of comments and flashbacks. While the plates are not in use, they can be displayed in the display case.

3. Turn off the lights

Collect many candles on the dining table and spend candlelight meal, even if you finish eating the day before yesterday. Each meal will set a special mood.

Arrange thick paraffin candles in the bathroom, either on the sink or around the tub. Take time to take a bath and enjoy! If you have small children at home, you should be very careful with candles at home. There should always be an adult in the room.

4. More color

Don't even think about not decorating the tree!

Wrap garlands of tinsel or lights around mirrors, along the tops of cabinets and along curtains.

Use ribbons and Christmas tree decorations to diffuse color around the house during the holiday season.

5. Just listen ...

When you are at home, turn on the disc or playlist with the New Year melodies and listen to them.

Fasten at the door bells and listen to how they ring, inviting the next guest.

When you go to wake the children in the morning, ring the bells or hum New Year's tunes.

Check the TV guide in advance so you don't miss out on special New Year's TV shows.

Spend time with your family in front of the screen.

Collect the classic films on christmas and new year themes such as "Irony of Fate", "Carnival Night" and "Wizards".

6. Stock up on sweets

Prepare a dish fresh fruit or birthday cookies, which will need to be displayed before the arrival of guests.

Bake small muffins and wrap them in foil. Place them in a cute decoration basket. You can take them when you go to visit and generously treat those who come to you.

Make a bouquet or candy garland. Place small scissors nearby to cut off the candy for guests.

Fill the basket with traditional New Year's candy and place it on the coffee table or at the entrance.

Bake or buy a gingerbread house: for decoration and food.

Place sweets in the guest room to make your friends feel truly welcome.

7. Add some nature

Use Christmas tree branches in order to make small decorative ensembles.

Place them on cabinets, on the bathroom sink, on the kitchen windowsill, on some tables.

Dip pine or spruce cones and bows into a bowl or basket.

Tie the branches with a bow and hang them over the windows.

Decorate your bathroom or kitchen with a small wreath of fir paws.

From small twigs, you can weave a simple wreath for the bedroom door.

Make a "nest" for candles out of conifers by tying them with a beautiful ribbon. Add brightly colored little Christmas tree decorations.

8. Make everything shine!

Spread artificial snow over tables, dressers, and around flower pots.

Fill a glass or crystal bowl or vase with brightly colored Christmas decorations.

Decorate your home plants with Christmas tree decorations.

9. Create happiness with your own hands

Plan a time of day when the whole family will be at home to announce the start of the New Year holidays.

Make ritual of lighting a garland at the tree every evening.

Think of friends and loved ones who cannot come to you, and send them a little decorated Christmas tree.

Prepare New Year's cards with the whole family, take pictures and send congratulations. Offer to help a friend who can't handle it on his own.

By doing simple things, you will find that you enjoy this time of year, the lights, the traditions, the hours with family and friends, without getting tired of the process. Happy New Years!

To make the anticipation of the New Year holidays more exciting, each of us makes sure that an unusual and mysterious New Year's atmosphere reigns in his home, which makes us fade away sweetly and think about a miracle.

This article is for people over 18 years of age.

Have you already turned 18?

We are looking forward to the New Year holidays. With the arrival of winter cold, we seem to freeze in anticipation of something unusual and wonderful. This is probably because we associate the New Year with changes. We believe that next year everything will be a hundred times better, that we will be able to make all our dreams come true.

New Year's atmosphere

What is this New Year's atmosphere and how to create it with your own hands? The answer to this question is at least difficult to give. Before you start active actions, you need to decide what exactly this celebration means to you and what it is associated with. For example, there are 3 common signs for all people - this is a pungent spicy smell of pine needles, a sweet tangerine aroma and an abundance of bright lights around. Can you add a few more points of your own to this list? Fine. They should be guided by when creating a New Year's atmosphere.

If you do not have your own, special associations or you want to try something new, without established patterns and boring rituals, do everything as your heart tells you. For example, you can recreate the New Year, once read in a book or your favorite movie. Sometimes the description of the pre-holiday bustle is so realistic and intriguing that I really want to translate it into real life. For example, if you dream of hot mulled wine, gingerbread, warm blanket - feel free to stock up on your favorite wine and spices. This will not only diversify your life, but also give a sense of celebration.

If your family does not have your own New Year and Christmas traditions, establish them yourself. Search the Internet for everything about the rituals of different peoples of the world, and it may well be that some will become very close to you. For example, in Europe there is an interesting action that symbolizes the coming of the holidays. This is the ritual lighting of candles for a Christmas adventure. This is a wreath of pine or spruce branches, into which 4 thick candles are usually woven. It is customary to ignite them 4 weeks before Christmas. On the first Sunday, one candle is lit, on the second - of course the second, and so on until the brightest holiday. Also, if desired, smaller candles can be woven into the wreath - for each day. Children like this rite very much, because it makes it so easy and fun to count the days (or weeks) until the desired holiday and well-deserved rest.

Also, a pre-New Year ritual can be made and throwing unnecessary things or "bag of failures." If everything is more than clear with the trash, then the tradition of throwing out all the sorrows and failures of the past year is a little new. It consists in the fact that all family members take turns "putting" in some container everything that disappointed or upset them (you can write on a piece of paper), and then everyone throws it away together. In addition to ritual significance, this action also has a positive psychological effect - a person gets rid of emotional trash and is ready to perceive everything new with renewed vigor and good mood.

But no matter what New Year's ritual you come up with for yourself, no matter what traditions you choose, the main thing is that you must believe in what you are doing. In the future, traditions will serve as a trigger or reference point for creating that very New Year's atmosphere.

New Year's atmosphere in the house

How to create a New Year's atmosphere in the house is a rather multifaceted question, because its solution consists of dozens of different little things.

Home improvement

Oddly enough it sounds, but you need to start decorating the house ... with cleaning. Throw away unnecessary trash, clean up your bedside tables and cabinets - this will serve as a good basis for subsequent actions. Look for information about the owner of the year and his color preferences - let this serve as a basis for future decoration. It is important at this stage to decide on the New Year's scenario - when celebrating in a certain style, the decorations around must fully correspond to it.

This year is held under the auspices of the yellow earth Dog, so the main colors of the festive decoration are yellow, brown and white. But it is better to forget about the "screaming" reds and blues, because the Dog is quite modest in its tastes and does not like variegation. The same applies to the number of New Year's decorations - everything should be as simple and tasteful as possible.

To create the right New Year's atmosphere, do not try to buy everything that you see in the nearest supermarket - focus your attention on things with a “soul”. These are toys that are gathering dust in old boxes, things made with your own hands or through the efforts of your loved ones, New Year's drawings of children, that is, everything that has emotional significance for you, because along with pleasant memories, the feeling of a holiday will come.

By the way, do not rush to do everything at once - stretch the aching feeling of joy for a long period of time (for example, decorate only one room in an apartment at a time).

Smells

Smell is a very important sense, without which a person simply cannot do. As mentioned earlier, many associate the New Year with a Christmas tree and tangerines, so add a few drops of pine or citrus oil to an aroma lamp - the effect will be just lightning fast.

The same applies to scented candles - light them in the evenings and you will plunge into the unforgettable atmosphere of anticipation of your favorite holiday. For the New Year, candles with the smell of vanilla, orange, chocolate and pine needles will come in handy.

Also for the smell, you can use the old proven method - branches of conifers and bright fruits from Georgia or Spain.

Christmas tree

You simply cannot do without a festive tree, so feel free to go in search of it. For families with small children, spruce decoration is the most favorite pre-holiday tradition, which can set anyone in a festive mood. Even in a gray and completely non-holiday office, she is able to "conjure" a completely non-working atmosphere. The same applies to bright tinsel, which will certainly make you forget about everything in the world and look forward to the magic.

By the way, the Christmas tree, in addition to its own festive look, has another trump card in the sleeve - it is customary to put gifts under it. Children can leave notes with wishes under it, and it will signal to adults that it is time to go shopping in search of pleasant surprises for family and friends.

Festive table

It is not necessary that only the New Year's table be festive. Two or three weeks before the celebration, change the usual tablecloth to a festive one (ideally, if it has New Year's patterns on it), and get a set for special occasions from the closet. Take care of the little details too - Christmas napkins or themed towels. Thus, every time you eat, you will feel an incredible homey New Year atmosphere.

The same applies to dishes. Transfer the Soviet tradition of New Year's eating Olivier to an earlier time, while you can celebrate the New Year with new "unbroken" salads and snacks.

Leisure

Of course, general leisure is important for every family, but we often simply do not have enough time to stroll through the snow-covered city, admiring the pre-holiday illumination. I must say that there is a great alternative to spending time together - watching New Year's films. They will not only help make your leisure time more comfortable, but also add new interesting colors to it with a subtle nostalgic touch.

The fabulous atmosphere of the New Year is, first of all, how we see our ideal holiday. This is a premonition of a miracle in everyday life, which is sure to give you a bunch of pleasant memories.

Children believe in miracles, magic, fairy tales, they fantasize, get inspired, create, dream. They see not simple snow, but magic sparkling powder. They hear the story about Santa Claus and already believe and continue it themselves. They are adorable in their attraction to the mysterious. And this atmosphere, which is created around the holiday, is very important for them.

Let's support our little wizards and create a warm, cozy and fabulous holiday atmosphere around them.

1. Garlands, lamps and lanterns. “When we buy a new garland, we arrange a disco,” an acquaintance once told me. Yeah, electric garland, this is the very holiday in your home. The main thing is to maintain balance - a few garlands, turned on only at special moments and a pleasant regime that does not depress the psyche.

2. Homemade jewelry and gifts for loved ones.

You can easily find an extraordinary number of master classes on creating New Year's decorations on the Internet. It's great if you give free rein to your imagination and the creative impulse of your child, then you will get your own unique work. Preparing for the New Year is preparing gifts for loved ones. Even the smallest child loves to create, you will have to creatively arrange his work in order to hand it over to relatives.

3. New Year's tales, stories, heroes, cartoons and films. Reading stories together is an opportunity for you to spend time with your child, and for him to learn something new and interesting.

4. Winter and New Year's finds. There are such in bookstores and in online stores, something can be found and printed. And if you are not afraid to draw, you can create your own find, which will interest your child better than anyone else.

5. Snowmen, snowballs, towers, colored ice. If you are lucky and there is a lot of snow - do not forget about these joys of childhood, throw a couple of ideas to your child. And if there is no snow, then you can freeze the ice yourself at home, you can tint the water with food coloring (it is better to stock it up for the whole year before Easter) or watercolor paint, you can freeze pebbles, shells, leaves, berries inside and take them out into the yard for games.

6. Winter and New Year's poems. I recently discovered that there are many atmospheric and enjoyable winter-themed children's poems. Search, read and you can even learn by heart.

7. New Year's music and songs.

8. Surprises. For those who do not know yet, there is an interesting tradition to create Advent calendars for children. Such a calendar can look differently. Every day in December, before the New Year, a little surprise is hidden for the child. For whom it is difficult for now to take up such a calendar - just try to somehow hide something for your baby or play a scene, as you found something with the caption "For Petya Ivanov".

9. Pastries and drinks. Gingerbread cookies are not all that you can cook with your child. Try to track down a non-alcoholic mulled wine recipe and cook it together. Kids can get acquainted with citrus fruits (just in season), try to peel them, squeeze juice using a manual juicer.

10. Costumes. It's great if the child is involved in choosing a costume for the holiday and aerobatics, if he can participate in its creation.

11. New Year tree or tree. Since childhood, I have always sympathized with all children whose parents did not put up a Christmas tree. And they were terribly jealous, especially the tall tree that my dad brought every year. If you are against putting a living tree, you can buy an artificial one. You can create a Christmas tree in different ways, but it should be for the New Year.

Again, keep a balance - don't take on too much, just what makes you happy and relaxing, don't go overboard with surprises and cartoons, instead, just enjoy the little things with your child. All inspiration and New Year's mood!

Natalia Sidorova

We are not the only ones preparing for the New Year. Even our houses are preening and dressing up. Let each house turn into a small magical world, where an atmosphere of goodness, hope, comfort and warmth reigns!

Infuse your home with the scent of winter spices by making simple pomanders from oranges studded with cloves.

A truly elegant and solemn atmosphere can be created with the help of a golden brocade tablecloth and compositions of porcelain and glass, which can be from different sets. Gold Christmas firecrackers adorned with serving rings or ornate braid are a luxurious addition to the center of the table.

When decorating your home for the New Year, try to stick to your chosen color scheme, for example: red and green, gray and gold.

The living room with an elegant Christmas tree is now the main place in the house. Decorate it with sparkling garlands and place as many candles as you like. Candle lighting always creates a cozy fairytale atmosphere.

Wicker baskets can come in handy for New Year's gifts. This is especially useful when the gift has an unusual shape.

Decorate serving areas for guests with a bunch of cinnamon sticks adorned with golden braid. To such a composition, you can add a small personalized postcard or a tag with New Year's wishes.

Fruit shelves are ideal for Christmas ball compositions. Just stick to the same color scheme so that the decor looks harmonious. Shiny balls can also be replaced with natural decorations (cones, nuts), fruits or berries in sugar. Decorate a dresser or shelf with candles stacked on a round mirrored tray that will reflect their flame.

The top of the dresser is one of the most convenient and affordable places to create a Christmas fairy tale. First, remove the usual things from it, replacing them with candles and vases with balls.

Garlands can be hung not only on the tree. If you intertwine them with decorative pine needles, berries and cones, it will be very beautiful!

Save greeting cards from friends, family and colleagues. Make them a small display by decorating a chest of drawers, a mantelpiece or a shelving unit with them. Don't forget about treats. There should always be something tasty in the house - for family and friends!

For the holiday, dishes made of red or green glass are perfect, and you can supplement the serving with decorative branches with berries.

Funny crackers can be used to decorate the table, hang them on the tree or use as gift wrapping for sweet and other small gifts.

Arrange small candy vases with Christmas balls on the festive table, decorate the attachment points with ribbons

Hang decorations and Christmas toys from cabinet and door handles, decorate windows, or hang on wall hooks with ribbons.

Use more natural materials to dilute shiny jewelry. Arrange branches with berries, fresh flowers or dried flowers in vases or beautiful bottles.

Decide. Do you want classics with red and gold or cold tones, for example, silver and blue? With ribbons and shiny balls? Or maybe this year you are looking for textured craft ropes and wrapping paper. Or even Scandinavian minimalism with wood and bare Christmas trees. It is all useful to consider all this at once. Because the decoration of the whole house depends on it - a Christmas tree, a table, windows, doors, everything, everything!

Light

This point is also worth considering. If the range is classic, for example, red, green and gold, then it is better to use warm light - soft garlands, candles, yellow bulbs. And if the gamut is cold, on the contrary, there is a cold color in garlands and bulbs (just be careful, do not overdo it with the cold, then the house will be simply uncomfortable)

And that is not all. Think about how to make it so that there is more cozy soft light. Some very local sources. Fireflies. Do not skimp on candles, garlands, think about a couple of floor lamps or table lamps, replace the bulbs in the existing ones. Add a couple of backlit embellishments. In general, the more "fireflies" there are in the house, the more comfortable the atmosphere will become.

Smells

New Year is a holiday of sensations. Feelings stimulate emotions. Otherwise, why do we make Olivier every time, watch The Irony of Fate and gorge ourselves on tangerines? Take advantage of this and add sources of positive emotions.

Smells are one of the main stimulants. Make sure that throughout December the apartment is “perfumed” with manadrinks, a cinnamon stick is peeping out from somewhere and a vanilla candle gleams.

Let there be several such sources. A bowl of fruit on the table, scented candles on the windowsill. Cinnamon can even be on the tree, for example, as a New Year's decor. Hide other spices in a sachet or add to fruits. Delicious, like gingerbread, both smell good and taste great. Make a small edible gift out of them. There will be another stimulant.

Decor islands

We told you about vignettes in an article about Emily Henderson's book "Style".These are small interior compositions. They fill the space, tell the story of their owner and create an atmosphere. Just what you need for the New Year. What could be a vignette?

a free corner (by the way, a tree with gifts under it can also be a vignette)

beautifully served table (we will write a separate post about this)

wall above the sofa (a shelf with decor or a gallery with New Year's posters will fit perfectly there)

window sill (our vignette number 1, we adore window sills. Twigs and Christmas trees, bumps and balls, and trays with candles and whatever you want can be beautifully put or put on it)

bed (headboard and footboard, bench next to it - everything can be decorated. Not to mention textiles)

a whole corridor (for some reason they forget about it all the time, you can decorate the ceiling with pendants, the console - with branches or a photo, and even just hang a couple of toys on a wardrobe)

Little things

We were once told that love is made up of little things, so love for home too. During the holidays, this is doubly important. What napkins you choose, in which vase you put the branches, in which basket you put fruits, how you dry oranges for decoration or scent. What kind of ribbon will you tie to the kitchen towel hook. It's a matter of attention in the home. And the house needs attention.

Places of memories

New Year is a family holiday. With rare exceptions, people spend it in their living room with their loved ones. Make sure that there is an atmosphere of trust in the house, maybe even nostalgia for the past years or holidays - shared family photos, homemade cards, old drawings, New Year's toys that you made together ten years ago. Everything that is remembered with a smile. Let such reminders be in prominent places on the holiday.

Fluffy textiles

If you did not have time to "change" the house for the winter, as we asked in the article, then do it at least for the New Year.

What's noteworthy?

bed (update the blanket and pillows, for example)

sofa (add one or two Christmas pillows with lettering or funny pictures)

a chair (of course, a fluffy blanket won't hurt him)

table (let the dining table always have a tactile tablecloth and napkins. By the way, this is not textiles, but it is worth mentioning it - be sure to come up with a decoration for the New Year's (and indeed winter) table.

little things, little things, little things (warm slippers and socks, bags for small gifts, napkins, towels)

Let's go through the points again and draw up a checklist:

1) Decide on the style and color of the New Year's decor

2) We think over the sources of cozy lighting (garlands, candles, lamps)

3) We take care of the sources of pleasant aromas and festive little things in the house

4) We decorate several "islands" with branches and decor (bed / sofa / console / wall / windowsill)

5) We take care of the little things that resemble pleasant moments with the family (photo / postcards / crafts)

Don't be intimidated by a long list. Home decorating is a fun process. You can even plan one family activity every night before New Years. A day for a tree, a day for a wreath. A day looking for goodies. Day to choose from photos and drawings. The more love you put into decorating your home, the more love it will give you for the holidays. In the end, even if you complete just a couple of points from the list, it will already be very, very, good! Happy New Year!
