Your ideal holiday: DIY Christmas decorations. New Year's master class "Christmas ball in the technique of kinusaiga" Kinusaiga on foam balls

Before the holidays, the age-old question of choosing a gift arises. Of course, you can buy cheap souvenirs in the nearest store, and the problem is solved. But a formal approach is not possible when it comes to close and dear people. We are analyzing a master class on studying the kinusaige technique will help create a miracle for beginners and create unique crafts for the home. This technique allows you to make charming roses on a panel postcard, which is perfect as a gift for a wedding or Valentine's Day.

Another type of crafts using this technique is souvenirs for the kitchen.

And even New Year's gifts can be made using the kinusaige technique - look at these original soft Christmas tree balls.

As can be seen from the photo of the finished work, kinusaig is somewhat similar to patchwork, indeed another name for this art is patchwork without a needle. Schemes for kinusaige are varied: from rectangular houses to complex pictures with animals and people.

The basis for the work is a soft material - foam. Therefore, this type of needlework is quite suitable for children and will not cause them any difficulties. The kid himself will be able to make Christmas balls or a patchwork on polystyrene as a gift for grandparents. A step-by-step description and video will help to deal with kinusaig.

We study a step-by-step master class on kinusaig for beginners and for children

The work begins with the preparation of the necessary materials and drawings for the panel. For kinusaiga you will need:

  • remnants of colored fabric;
  • a piece of foam;
  • PVA glue;
  • scissors;
  • seam ripper, dummy paper knife, nail file or any sharp object (what exactly will be convenient, you will understand in the process of making a patchwork);
  • buttons and pins.

For the first craft, you should not take complex drawings. Let's start learning the technique by making a flower on foam. Such a picture can be easily drawn by both an adult and a child. A sheet with a sketch is fixed on a piece of foam plastic with buttons.

To transfer the picture, we prick it with a needle along the contour at small intervals.

The next stage of work is the most dangerous, so it is better not to trust the baby. With a sharp knife (or a seam ripper), a picture on the foam is cut through the points.

Next comes the fun part! Work starts with the smallest detail. For it, a piece of fabric is cut out, which is glued to the base. In order for the shreds to match the parts of the picture, you can cut them out using the previously drawn sketch and do not forget to make allowances of 0.5 cm on each side of the part. The cut piece of material is applied to the foam and is tucked into the slot with a sharp object.

Thus, the entire flower is consistently "filled".

If it is difficult to make a background for your baby, you can cover it with acrylic paints, for example, this is how it was done for the second work. Here are some interesting pictures as a result. Simple materials, a little time - and the panel as a gift is ready!

Trying a volumetric kinusaig using the example of New Year's toys

Using bulk blanks in the form of foam balls, you can make unusual decorations for the Christmas tree.

The first stage is the most responsible. It is necessary to divide the ball into "slices" as even and neat as possible. The dividing lines are drawn with an ordinary ballpoint pen.

Tip for beginner craftswomen: wrap the workpiece with a regular thread, adjusting which you can get the required number of parts of the ball. Lobes can be from four to eight. It's not worth doing anymore. Too thin pieces on the foam will also require thin fabric patches, which will crumble in the process of “hiding” them. In principle, the pattern on the toy can be anything. It looks interesting ball with fabric strips of different sizes.

Along the marked lines, the foam blank is cut with a sharp knife to a depth of 1 cm.

Then, using elegant shreds of fabric, preferably with glitter or New Year's motifs, the future toy is decorated. A piece is cut off from the material, which is tucked into the slot with a sharp knife or nail file. Everything, as in the manufacture of panels! To make the job faster, you can make a template for "slices". The dressing allowance should be at least 0.5 cm. This is how an already laid piece of fabric looks like.

The rest of the ball is filled in the same way. The end result is a toy.

Decorative ribbons, cords, lace, rhinestones and beads will make it elegant and festive. To begin with, the joints are closed with a golden cord, which is fixed with PVA glue.

The final stage - we make a bow and a ribbon so that the toy can be placed on the New Year's tree.

So, the kinusaige technique has been mastered and I already want to do something with my own hands. There are a lot of ideas for creativity, and to make sure of this, we watch the video.

Back in school years, children made simple, but unique decorations for the New Year. Now, using different techniques, you can create amazingly beautiful Christmas balls quickly and easily with your own hands. The only thing you need to stock up on to make such products is fantasy, because there are no boundaries in creativity as such.

We learn to make a variety of Christmas balls with our own hands in MK

How to make small papier mache balls

To create such a creative papier-mâché balloon, you will need some old newspapers, glue and a balloon. This technique is familiar to everyone since childhood, so it should not be particularly difficult.

  1. The balloon must be inflated to the desired size and tied tightly with a thread.
  2. The newspaper needs to be crushed into small squares. It is not necessary to do this carefully, the main thing is that the pieces are not too large.
  3. The first layer of newspapers is molded onto the ball without the help of glue. This is necessary so that the ball itself does not stick to the paper and can be easily removed. It is enough to dip the paper in water, after which it can easily attach to the surface of the ball.
  4. All subsequent layers are smeared with glue, paper is molded onto it.
  5. You need to make at least 8 layers. The resulting product should be strong enough.
  6. Layers need to be built up so that the tail of the balloon always remains outside.
  7. After all the layers are ready, the product must be given time to dry. This will take a couple of hours.
  8. After all the layers have dried, the balloon must be pierced with a needle and carefully removed from the paper cocoon.
  9. The resulting hole must be masked with a couple of layers of paper while not forgetting to attach the tape. The ribbon is needed so that the ball can be hung on the spruce.
  10. If you plan to decorate the ball with paints, then it is worth making the last layer of white paper so that the paints look brighter.
  11. Turn on all your imagination to decorate the ball.

Also, the ball can not be covered with white paper, so it will look much more interesting. On newsprint, you can draw the faces of animals, which will look quite funny and interesting.

We study step by step the quilling technique in decorating a ball

The quilling technique is quite simple to perform, but requires perseverance. Having mastered a couple of tricks of this technique, you can make such a Christmas ball. Quilling has in its assortment a lot of tricks with which you can create truly sophisticated interior decorations. You can use a foam ball as a base.

Weave with a detailed description unusual balls of thread

  1. Inflate the balloon to the desired size.
  2. Wrap it well with thread and coat with glue.
  3. Hang in a dry and warm place to let the glue dry completely.
  4. Pop the balloon with a needle and pull the thread out of the cocoon.

In order for the ball of thread to look brighter and more creative, you need to sprinkle it with sparkles or other material until the glue is dry.

Let's try to make a simple paper ball

  1. The paper needs to be twisted into a bundle. In order for it to be enough, you need to connect several bundles together with glue.
  2. Taking a foam ball, you need to glue one end of the tourniquet to the top.
  3. You need to wrap the entire ball with a tourniquet so that there is no gap between the poisons. Each row of the flagellum must be coated with glue.
  4. When the whole ball of paper is ready, you need to attach it to the thread in the form of a loop.

When the ball is ready, it can be coated with spray paint or regular paint.

How to make a Christmas ball with your own hands using decoupage technique

  1. Ordinary plastic Christmas toys are suitable for decorating balls using decoupage technique. To begin with, such a ball needs to be prepared. To do this, the wire mount should be removed.
  2. Treat the entire surface of the ball with sandpaper and wash off the paint with nail polish remover. This is necessary in order for the paint to adhere better to the surface.
  3. After the paint is removed, the surface must be primed. To do this, mix pva glue and ordinary gouache. This mixture must be applied in several layers to the surface of the ball. Each layer should be given time to dry.
  4. Once the balls are dry, you can proceed directly to the design using the decoupage technique. To do this, you need napkins with an interesting pattern for you. The pattern must be cut out and attached to the surface of the ball, and then smeared with glue on top.
  5. After the drawing dries, you need to carefully cover the ball with another layer of paint. This is necessary in order to level the line between the pattern and the main surface of the ball.

Here I have nothing against glitter, tinsel and store-bought toys when it comes to New Year's holidays. Just sometimes you want something unique and stylish, what we call our own. We will take care of this.

Remember your first childhood toys? Mine were glass. These are dangerous for children and short-lived. But how cute and beautiful they are! Glass toys have been replaced by plastic ones. Their problem is that they are plain, not of very high quality and get bored pretty quickly. If you have a mountain of boring plastic balls, I'll show you how to remake old christmas decorations. And I'll tell you how to make Christmas toys in kinusaiga technique.

Reworking old Christmas toys

New Christmas decorations every year at no extra cost? Easy!

We will cover some of the old New Year's toys with fabric, and some we will paste over with braid and paper. This alteration opens up a lot of possibilities for your Christmas tree design: a Tiffany-style tree, a tree with burlap toys, a tree with turquoise or even black decorations. After all, finding fabric, ribbon or paper of the right color is much easier than finding the right Christmas balls.

Christmas decorations made of plastic balls - materials and tools

  • Plastic Christmas balls
  • Textile
  • Scissors
  • Thread and needle
  • Miscellaneous braid
  • Note paper
  • PVA glue
  • acrylic paint
  • tassel
  • Hot glue.

Updating Christmas decorations with fabric

1. We take our ball and measure its diameter with a ribbon and a ruler. The circumference of my Christmas ball is 15 cm.

2. Cut out a template from cardboard with a diameter of 15 cm.

3. Draw a pattern on the fabric and cut out a circle.

4. We take a thread with a needle and make a dotted seam along the edge of the fabric. At this stage, it is good to change the braid for hanging the ball on the Christmas tree.

5. We place the Christmas ball in the middle, tighten and tie the ends of the threads.

6. We take a suitable braid, cut off a small piece and glue it with hot glue around the top of the ball. After the glue has hardened, cut off the excess fabric to make a neat bunch.

7. From the same braid we make a small bow and glue it to the ball.

Such balls can be supplemented with any decor.

We update Christmas toys with paper

1. We take a Christmas ball and remove the mount for hanging from it.

2. We take paper, wrinkle it and tear it into strips. I used sheet music that I have kept specifically for needlework. I have already used the papier-mâché method to decorate a cardboard star.

3. Glue the strips of paper to the ball with PVA glue.

4. We return the hanging mount to its place, paint it with acrylic paint in the desired color and stretch the braid.

It may seem that it takes a long time to redo Christmas decorations with your own hands, because at least 20-30 decorations are needed for a Christmas tree. I dare to bet: it takes only 10-15 minutes to update one toy. If, starting from November, every evening you spend 15 minutes on one New Year's toy, by the end of November you will already have 30 toys, and if you do two or three, then all 60 or even 90!

Christmas decorations made of polystyrene foam using the kinusaiga technique

I bought foam balls when we went to. My internal drive whispered: Buy it, and suddenly come in handy! They lay dormant for two years. And then I learned about the kinusaig technique and decided that the hour of foam balls had come.

Kinusaiga originated in Japan due to the desire to reuse the rather expensive fabric of an old kimono. This technique is also called a patchwork without a needle, because the pieces of fabric that are used for it do not need to be sewn together. Initially, for a kinusaig panel, a pattern is applied to a wooden plank. Then the master makes indentations of about two millimeters along the contour. Pieces of fabric are inserted into the cut grooves.

To comprehend the art of kinusaig, we will make a more primitive thing that does not require such skill, but no less pretty.

Styrofoam Christmas tree decorations - materials and tools

  • Styrofoam balls
  • Small pieces of fabric
  • Scissors
  • Braid or rope
  • Hot glue.

DIY Christmas decorations - progress of work

1. We take a foam ball and divide it into 8 equal parts with a rope and a gel pen.

2. With scissors we make indentations about one centimeter along the markup.

3. Find out the approximate size of the divisions of the ball and prepare a template, as in the photo. The petals should be larger than the divisions of the ball.

4. Cut out eight petals from the fabric.

5. We apply the flap to the division of the ball and begin to tamp the fabric along the recesses with scissors.

6. Cut off 5 ropes or ribbons with a length equal to the diameter of our foam ball.

7. Apply hot glue along the sections of the ball and glue the braid. When 2 ropes remain, they need to be glued so that the ends form threads for hanging.

8. We complement the Christmas ball with a bow.

Here is another portion of handmade New Year's toys ready.

In the next master class, I will show .

Have you already decided what you want to see your Christmas tree this year?

The long-awaited New Year holidays are approaching, on the eve of which I would like to offer you to make Christmas balls with your own hands. Such a ball will not take you much time, and you will definitely have time to dress up your green beauty.

Kinusaiga is a Japanese technique for creating silk paintings, an artistic genre that arose, so to speak, on the basis of economy. Or rather, Japanese frugality. Initially, it was a way to "recycle" old worn-out kimonos.

In the modern handicraft world, based on this technique, needlewomen create boxes, decorate Easter eggs, create panels and paintings, and, in particular, decorate Christmas balls, which I propose to do today. So, to create a Christmas ball, we need:

* round styrofoam blank

* manicure scissors or thick skewer

* patches of fabric

* clerical knife for slots in the workpiece

* decorative braid, beads, satin ribbons for decoration.

First of all, we make marks on the ball blank, along which we will notch the ball. It is convenient to divide the workpiece into slices. After that, we take a clerical knife, and make not too deep cuts. In them we will hide the flaps of fabric.

To make it smoother, it is convenient to use the thread by wrapping the ball and adjusting the lines that the thread forms. You can divide the ball into as many slices as you wish. But here, I think, the main thing is not to overdo it, and not to make too thin slices, otherwise the workpiece may crumble during the process of notching and "hiding" the fabric. Slices can be of different widths, some are wider, others are smaller. There is room for fantasy here. I'm not talking about the patchwork combination of colors and textures.

After the ball is prepared, it is necessary to cut the flaps, cutting the fabric into rectangles that fit the length and width of your slices. I leave a good allowance on the flaps, which can always be trimmed after the fabric is hidden in the incision. Otherwise, if you leave too little an allowance, you may simply not have enough shreds.

The preparatory stage is over, and the fun begins) We begin to hide the fabric in the cuts. Sometimes it is recommended to coat the workpiece with PVA glue, glue the flap, and then hide it in the cuts. I did not use glue, and did not regret it. Everything turns out smoothly and evenly. In order to hide the fabric in the cuts, I used closed nail scissors, it is very convenient to hold in my hand. It turned out to be inconvenient for me to work with a skewer, it is rather thin and round, I wanted something flat and stable in my hand. You can choose the tool that is convenient for you.

First we hide one side of the slice, then the other. When everything is ready, and you like it, we cut off the remaining allowances with confidence, and hide the rest in a notch.

I didn’t use glue on purpose, because if the fabric pulls to one side, or something goes wrong, you can always remove the patch and try again, achieving the best result. And if the fabric is glued, this will no longer work. In addition, without glue, in my opinion, the tension is more successful, so that the mosquito does not undermine the nose =) There is one more nuance here. When you hide the patch in the incision, it is better, holding the fabric with the finger of your left hand, to move from the center of the slice, first in one direction, for example, in the right incision, and then in the other - to the left. If you move with pressure movements from the middle to the edge, the fabric will lie more evenly and without wrinkles. This is where my manicure scissors turned out to be the most successful tool, because it will not be possible to straighten the fabric with a skewer. When both edges of the patch are hidden, I slowly run the scissors from top to bottom along the incisions so that the small wrinkles formed in the places where the fabric is hidden are straightened out.

Our first slice is ready. We do the same with each sector.

When your ball is completely "stuffed" with shreds, the only thing left is to decorate the toy. The seams are closed with satin ribbons, decorative braid, a string of beads, in general, whatever you want. I hid the braid tails deep with scissors into the ball itself. Deep so that the ball, although weightless, hangs comfortably and holds itself by the loop =))) I would advise you not to rush to cut off the tape or braid. First, you need to hide one tail in the top of the ball, wrap the ball around it, and hide the second end of the braid in the same place on the top of the head, having already cut it off. Do this with each seam of the ball. On one of the seams, do not forget to leave the tape longer to form a loop.

I wish you pleasant New Year's Eve, exciting preparations for the holiday, home comfort and smiles. May all your plans come true, and a magical holiday will come to your house as soon as possible. Happy New Year!

I'll tell you how I did it using the example of a simple ball (in a vase on the left, red-gold).

Actually, these are Japanese traditional dolls that are made using a special technology: they are cut out of wood, then cuts are made on them with a special tool, and then fabric is tucked into these cuts (translated from Japanese, kime is a wooden edge, komi is to fill), thus, the whole doll lined with fabric. For us, wood is too complicated, but, fortunately, it can be replaced with a softer material - foam. This idea does not belong to me, of course, but there is very little information on this topic on the net, which is why I decided to make this MK. I apologize for the dark photos in places, it was already getting dark, I was in a hurry to finish it, because New Year's Eve is just around the corner, maybe it will come in handy for someone. For the same reason, I did not shoot the photo "live", but used similar balls at different degrees of readiness, so don't be confused by the fact that beads, fabrics and ribbons do not match in places. They are still very similar, so I hope this does not interfere with perception.

So let's get started. We will need:

foam ball
beautiful shreds
finishing cord
ribbons
sequins, beads, bead caps (optional)
carnation pins

tape measure
pen or marker
stationery knife
thick needle (non-sharp, for embroidery)
glue stick
sharp scissors
glue Moment-crystal or something similar
compass (possibly depends on the pattern)
calculator (so as not to count in the mind)

First you need to think over the pattern, perhaps sketch it on paper. Then you need to mark the pattern on the ball. Most often, the ball is symmetrical about the poles. So you need to find them first. I do this with two pins, stick on both sides and scroll the ball, holding the ends of the pins with the fingers of one hand. When spinning, you can immediately see if the pins are evenly stuck. Unfortunately, I did not find a mathematical method for finding the poles. You can, of course, lay off 1/2 of the circle in different directions from one of the poles, and somehow find it, but this is very long.

Then we dance from the poles, use the centimeter tape as a flexible ruler, draw lines of the desired pattern under it. I used a pen, but if the fabric is very light, then the line may show through, so in such cases it is better to use just a light or disappearing felt-tip pen, or a simple pencil. Then we cover all unnecessary lines (if any) with a corrector.

Then, along all the lines of the pattern, you need to make cuts with a clerical knife, to a depth of about 1 cm. If the pattern is small, then be careful not to accidentally cut a piece of the ball. The knife must be sharp. I had balls of not the best quality, so even when cutting with a very sharp knife, the foam still crumbled in some places. There is nothing you can do about it, you can only glue it. It is necessary to cut through all the lines of the pattern at once, and not so that half of the ball is finished, but here it is necessary to cut further, but the fabric interferes.

Determine where to start. It doesn't matter where you like it. We smear the desired area with glue-pencil.

We apply fabric. We follow the direction of the pile if your fabric is velvet.

And now we take a thick, non-sharp needle (I haven’t tried it, but I think an awl or a thin knitting needle will do) and fill the fabric with it in the slot, press it there. Not deep at first. We make sure that the fabric lies evenly, without folds, if there is a pattern on the fabric, then so that it does not warp.

Cut off the excess with sharp scissors, leaving 3-5 mm of fabric. In some sources, I saw how the part is first cut out of the fabric, then applied and tucked. Well, it's inconvenient! A little to the side, that’s all, there’s not enough in another place, and even cut out the patterns first, waste time. Much easier to fill first and then cut.

Now we fill the needle completely.

Here's what happened:

We do the same with all the other elements of the pattern. That's how beautiful it is.

You can leave it like that, or you can improve it. Due to the fact that the foam in my balls crumbled very much, for me this is a necessary measure to hide defects, the cord closes all (or almost all) problem areas.

To glue the cord, we need glue and the same needle. I smear it with glue and fill the cord. Yes, I ran out of instant-crystal glue, but they advised me like this, I liked it, the smell is a little stronger, but it grabs quickly and is transparent.

First, take a little glue and gently lubricate the place where the cord trim will begin from. Then we fill the end of the cord there.

Next, grease the “seam” with glue with a needle, and glue it on. In the right places, we drown the cord, as desired.
