Melissa's post quote We sew a brownie Kuzya together with Alesya Pustova

The well-known cartoon about the brownie Kuzyu is one of my favorites. Therefore, I could not pass by such a wonderful master class by Alesya Pustova. Look at this toy - Kuzya is just like from a cartoon! How not to sew such a charming brownie?

For work we need:

Cotton fabric - for the body

Calico white

Filler synthetic winterizer or synthetic fluff

Colored fabric - for a shirt

Dark fabric - for panties

Light yarn - for hair

Knitting needles

Pastel crayons

Brushes, pencil

Acrylic paints

Sewing machine and sewing accessories

First of all, for sewing a brownie Kuzi, we need a pattern.

We print the pattern in A4 format.

Cut out the details.

Fold the fabric in half. We will cut along the share, except for the details of the head, we will cut them along the oblique, each detail separately (for the wedges of the head, we make an allowance of 5 mm). For the legs, take a white fabric or completely sew from a white fabric and then tint (coffee, tea) the upper part.

We transfer the pattern to the fabric.

Chip off the details with pins.

We make a stitch length of 1.5 on a sewing machine.

Sew the details along the contour.

We sew all the details of the head, leaving a small hole for turning out.

After stitching, we make small cuts, so the head will be smoother.

We cut out the parts with zig-zag scissors if there is, if not, you can also make small cuts.

We turn it out with a stick or knitting needle.

We stuff, the handles of the legs and the body are not very tight, leaving a little space for the convenience of sewing, we stuff the head tightly, so it turns out smoother. Particular attention should be paid to the neck, you need to stuff it very tightly, you can also insert a stick (so as not to bend).

We pin the arms and legs to the body with pins, as shown in the photo.

Sew on.

We make a spout, as shown in the photo. First, we gather around the edge.

We fill with filler.

And we pull the thread.

Sew the nose to the head.

Here's what we got.

Now you can take a break, drink tea and start painting your face.

Draw eyes, mouth and eyebrows with a simple pencil.

We paint over the eyes with white paint.

Next, paint over the iris with blue paint.

We paint the pupils with black acrylic.

We add realism to the eyes. Add a little black to the blue paint and darken the upper part of the iris.

Darken the upper part of the protein with gray.

Highlight the lower part of the iris with white paint, add highlights.

We take brown paint, make a contour around the eyes, draw cilia, outline the eyebrows and mouth.

We tint the area around the eyes with pastel crayons, blush the cheeks and nose.

Do not sew the head yet!

Now we need to "dress" our brownie.
We transfer the shirt pattern to the fabric folded in half, make allowances for the seams of 0.7 mm.

We fix it with pins and cut it out.

We transfer the pattern of the panties to the dark fabric folded in half. We cut the details in two together in one piece. We sew pants without allowances.

Set the stitch size on the sewing machine to 2.5.

Sew the upper shoulder cuts. Do not forget to leave holes for the neck (2.5-3 cm).

We bend the edges of the sleeves and the bottom of the shirt, pin them off.

We lay a line.

Chip off and make side seams.

We make small cuts with scissors so that it does not constrict.

In order not to crumble, we process the edges with zig-zag scissors.

We turn out the shirt and sew on the button.

Sew the side cuts.

We cut off the step cuts, stitch them.

Don't forget to make cuts.

We turn it out.

We put on the pants, make folds on the front.

We turn it up with a cut inward, chop it off and manually sew it to the body.

Sew the bottom of the panties (pull together, tuck in and sew with a blind seam).

The pants are ready.

Now we knit our Kuza twine bast shoes. We collect 7 loops on the needles, knit 20 rows and close.

We knit two identical rectangles.

We bend 1/3 of the rectangle, sew on the sides, grabbing the corners a little so that the sandals are round.

We turn it out. We tighten in a circle.

We put it on the leg, fix it.

We do the same with the second bast shoe.

We tie up the legs with a piece of rope.

Sew the head to the body with a blind seam.

Now our Kuzya is almost ready, only the head of hair is missing.

We wind the yarn around the book not too thickly (the book measures 22 * 14.5 cm).

Carefully remove it on a A4 sheet.

And exactly in the middle we lay a seam on the sewing machine.

For reliability, we go through this seam two more times so that our brownie's hair is strong and does not fall out.

We lay a line in the middle of one of the halves, also twice.

Next to it, we lay another line to the width of the foot, also twice.

Cut the edges. it should look like in the photo.

Cut again.

We remove the paper.

Cut thin strands in half.

Sew the first strand to the bottom of the head. Further, the other three strands are sewn at a distance of 2-3 mm from each other.

Now we will sew on the largest and longest strand

We will sew in a circle, starting with the bangs.

How to sew or make a brownie from fabric, burlap, stockings, pompons or cones. Detailed master classes with photos.

People believe that peace and happiness in a house, be it a city apartment or a country estate, is guarded by a brownie. No one has ever seen him, no one knows exactly what he looks like and in what hidden corners he hides. But everyone understands that if you respect and love the brownie, he will take care of the well-being of each family member. In order for the brownie to understand that they love him, people create amulets in the form of house dolls.

  3. Sintepon or synthetic winterizer for stuffing
  4. Twine rope to tie the foot shoes and knitting needles
  5. Hair yarn

Do-it-yourself grimy brownie Kuzya

Do-it-yourself brownie doll from burlap: pattern

Burlap dolls made with their own hands, despite their seeming simplicity and simplicity, invariably evoke a feeling of admiration. They connect our present with the distant past with an invisible thread. In this past, bread is mowed by hand with a scythe, cool bread kvass is drunk on a hot afternoon, and children are given fresh milk.

There, in this past, children play with rag dolls, which mothers could make in a couple of minutes by rolling several pieces of cloth. Perhaps this is why our genetic memory brings us back to simple burlap toys. You can make a brownie doll according to the principle of sewing small parts onto a bag, symbolizing the head and body.

The burlap pattern for a brownie is very simple:

  • You need to make a rectangle that will be the head and body
  • Then cut out the details for the cap and legs.
  • The beard and mustache are made of thread. We sew them last.

There are a lot of options for housewives that can be sewn using this pattern. We will describe in detail how to make such a brownie, as in the photo below, with nylon handles and frowned eyebrows. And you, depending on your wishes, can add or remove small details yourself.

So, to make such a brownie you will need:

  1. A new bag or piece of burlap
  2. Sintepon for stuffing
  3. A small piece of cardboard to stiffen the legs
  4. Nylon pen stockings
  5. Thin copper wire that bends easily to make a hand frame
  6. White plastic and blue and black paper to make the eyes
  7. Variegated shirt fabric

So, let's start sewing a toy:

  • We cut out a piece of burlap of the required size, for this brownie, a cut of 20 by 85 cm was taken, but the size may be different, the main thing is to observe the proportion of about 1 to 4
  • We fold the burlap in half and sew on the sides, round the lower corners a little
  • We dissolve the upper edge, from the threads that remained on the workpiece, hair will be obtained, and from the threads that we pulled out, you can make a mustache and eyebrows

  • To make a beard, mustache and eyebrows, we tie the bundles of threads in the middle, and then trim the edges with scissors.
  • In order to make a nose, cut out a circle from nylon tights and sweep it around the edge with a thread, then put a piece of padding polyester in the middle and tighten the thread.

Let's start making the head and torso again:

  • We sew the edge with loose threads with a strong thread so that it does not bloom further
  • We make another seam to separate the head from the body.

  • We fill the blank with padding polyester and tighten the threads

  • For the peephole, we cut out blanks from plastic and colored paper
  • We glue them together with glue
  • Making a wire frame for handles

  • We carefully wrap wire blanks for handles with padding polyester
  • Then we cut out two rectangles from the nylon.
  • We tighten the nylon brush and fix the fabric by tying it with a thread on the wrist
  • We take a thread with a needle and sew the connections between the fingers
  • After that, we make the rest of the handles: we wind a little padding polyester on the wire and sew up the nylon

This is how the blanks for our burlap brownie will look like at this stage:

  • For the legs, cut out 2 blanks from cardboard
  • We cut out two of the same parts from the burlap, a little larger. One of them is simply glued to the cardboard, the second is stuffed with padding polyester and glued to the cardboard only after that
  • Then the two parts are sewn together
  • The seam, if desired, can be decorated with a pigtail, woven from threads
  • The legs are attached to the body with good glue.

  • Now all the basic elements of our brownie are ready and you can start making clothes and accessories
  • In our case, the brownie has a shirt and a hat.

  • We fasten all the details together with glue and admire the result

If it is difficult for you to work with nylon, then the handles of the brownie can be made from burlap threads, braided into braids, and the nose from a piece of wood.

The doll was protected by the brownie with his own hands from nylon tights

Dolls made of nylon tights are very similar to people and therefore even a little scary in their realism. Those who are not afraid to put such a doll at home can make it with their own hands. The principle of making a doll is in stuffing nylon blanks with padding polyester and stitching by hand by tightening the doll's face, pens and legs.

To make a brownie out of stockings you will need:

  1. Nylon stockings, tights or socks
  2. Sintepon for stuffing
  3. Wire to make doll handles
  4. Round nose pliers
  5. Sackcloth
  6. Hair yarn
  7. Spikelets and artificial flowers for decoration

Let's start making a doll by making pens. For them we need:

  1. Wire
  2. Two square pieces of nylon
  3. Sintepon
  • We bend the wire with our hands so that we get five fingers
  • With round nose pliers, bends can be smoothed

  • After that, press the fingers with round-nose pliers so that they are not too thick.
  • Then the free ends of the wire are twisted together and cut to the desired length.

  • We wrap each finger with padding polyester

  • We tighten the workpiece with nylon and fix the fabric with a thread on the wrist
  • Separate the fingers with seams

Now that the hands are ready, you can start making the head of the brownie:

  • We tear off several pieces of padding polyester: one is the largest for the head, two smaller for the cheeks, one for the nose and the smallest for the sponges
  • We take a piece of padding polyester intended for the head, give it the shape of a ball and tightly fit the capron
  • Then we insert the lumps intended for the cheeks, nose and lips into place
  • With the help of puffs we shape the nose, cheeks, lips and eyes

Make the body for the doll out of fabric:

  • Fold a rectangular piece of fabric facing inward, sew it on the sides, turn it out and stuff it with padding polyester
  • Head, legs and arms are sewn to the body by hand
  • Clothes for the brownie can be made in the form of a frock coat
  • Measure your doll's bust, divide by 2 and add a seam allowance. So you get the size of the blank for the frock coat along the chest line

How to make a brownie from threads and cardboard with your own hands?

  • If you sew eyes, ears, arms and legs to a pom-pom made of knitting threads, you can get an original toy-brownie
  • Any thread will do: plain, multi-colored or variegated
  • The eyes can be decorated with buttons, and the arms and legs can be cut out of colored cardboard or plastic bottles

If you take a lot of threads, then the brownie will turn out to be voluminous, and it will be possible to put it as an independent toy. If you wind long threads in 2-3 layers on cardboard, you get a fairly flat brownie, which will need to be glued to the cardboard base. Attention, only TODAY!

The brownie, or the brownie, is the spirit of the home, the owner and patron of the house, protecting the dwelling and its inhabitants (people, animals) from various troubles, supporting life and contentment in the family. In ancient Russia brownies were defined as souls relatives-sinners who have passed away, the ancestors of the family, men who died without repentance. According to another version, in ancient times, with the beginning of the construction of a fresh dwelling, a special sacrifice was made, the spirit of which was considered a brownie. Later, the human sacrifice was exchanged for a sacrificial animal.

In appearance, the brownie was most often represented similar to a recently deceased relative, although the features of animals also belong to the guise of the spirit: sharp and elongated ears, a woolen body, long nails (claws). According to legends, the brownie wears any member of the family living in the house, or even an animal: most often a cat, a fox or a snake. In addition to the male brownie, there is also a female version - this is the owner's wife (housewife) or daughter (housewife). Some people in Ancient Russia believed that the brownie was a lonely creature, while others believed that the number of brownies was equal to the number of people in the family. So there may be several house or house people living in the house.

The housewife has always been there. Nowadays, many no longer believe in the spirit of the dwelling, but just in case they still place the figurine in their place as an interior decoration.

The value of the amulet for your home

To appease the brownie is quite simple, then he will repay with his kindness. Popular beliefs say that there are no many amulets in the house. All the figures symbolizing the brownie, are taken into account by the spirit, which tries more to strengthen the well-being of the house, the more it sees that it is loved. Amulets are very different, for example, a shaggy doll with a tablespoon, a figurine with a full armful of berries, mushrooms and flowers, Kuzya the brownie from the cartoon, clean or grimy.

The figurine can be bought at the gift shop, there are a great many of them, but it is best to do it yourself from improvised means. Such a craft does not even need to activate magical energy, it arises in the process of sewing. But it is important that thoughts are positive at the same time. How to sew a brownie with your own hands will be discussed further.

Brownie Kuzya: master class

In order to sew the Kuzya brownie, you need to prepare:

  • beige cotton fabric (to sew the body);
  • coarse calico of different colors (for a shirt and pants);
  • synthetic winterizer or synthetic winterizer;
  • white or gray yarn (for hair);
  • a sushi stick;
  • threads, needles, scissors;
  • fabric paints;
  • thread twine (for bast shoes);
  • button.

The first step is to print the pattern and transfer it to the beige fabric.

Sew the head from five wedges, turn it to the right side, fill with padding polyester. Sew the arms and legs of the product, stepping back from the edge of half a centimeter, make cuts in places of bends or cut them out with curly scissors. Turn out the workpieces of the legs, arms and torso, also fill with filler. Take the head again and paint eyes and mouth with paints on the fabric. To make the eyes the same size, you can cut a blank out of paper and, measuring the distance with a soft meter, place it evenly on your face, p then draw around with a pencil.

After the paint has dried, the face can be browned with pastels or powder. Sew a ball nose and sew to the head. Next, sew the limbs to the calf. If the brownie is poorly stuffed with padding polyester, the head may dangle, so it is worth inserting a sushi stick into the body and head. But you can do without it. Next, take the yarn, wind it around something wide, for example, a book, cut the ends. Sew the resulting hairstyle to the head.

Iron the material for the shirt and pants, circle the pattern, cut, grind and turn out. Clothes for Kuzi are slightly larger than the figure itself, since in the cartoon she sat on it freely. You can make two versions of the toy: clean and sloppy. Kuzyu dress, comb or, conversely, tousle. Sew a button on the shirt. You can sew a loop on the back, for which you can hang a toy in the apartment. The brownie Kuzya is ready! The toy can be placed in your home, or you can bring it as a gift to a loved one or a relative for good luck.

Charm "Brownie" from burlap

Burlap figurines, despite their artlessness and simplicity, look touching, their image seems to unite us with distant times, peasant identity - those years when the children played with dolls rolled up by their mother from rags. Such a talisman is made like this: small details and decorations are sewn to the calf formed from a piece of the bag.

Do-it-yourself housekeeping is not difficult at all, anyone can handle it. The pattern is very simple: a rectangle is drawn on paper - the future torso with a head. After that, details of the legs and hats are made, last but not least - hair, mustache and beard from threads. From such a simple pattern, you can sew many types of housewives: with and without handles, with frowning eyebrows, etc. Further, the process of creating a housekeeper with nylon handles is described in detail.

Necessary materials:

  • sackcloth;
  • nylon tights;
  • synthetic winterizer;
  • cardboard (insert in the legs);
  • shirt fabric;
  • wire;
  • eyes (can be purchased at any craft store).

So, you need to make a square cut of burlap, fold in half, sew the sides. Dissolve the upper end so that the hair of the figure is formed, form a hairstyle. Leave the elongated trims of threads in order to make a beard, eyebrows, mustache later (for this you need to tie them in the middle, and trim the ends).

The nose is made of a round piece of nylon, a needle is stitched along the perimeter with a seam forward, and pulled together. The resulting ball must be filled with padding polyester and swept to the face of the future amulet. Glue the eyes. Sew the upper end of the head under the hair with a strong thread so that the burlap does not bloom further, pull it off. Do the same with the seam that separates the head from the body.

Form a skeleton of hands from a thin wire, wrap it tightly with padding polyester. Gently pull two nylon rectangles over the wire handles, fix the fabric by wrapping twine around the wrists. Sew the connections between the fingers, wind the synthetic winterizer on the rest of the wire part of the hands, pull the nylon and sew its edges.

For the legs, a blank of a certain shape is cut out of the cardboard, as shown in the picture. Cut the same shape out of burlap (2 pieces). Glue one of the parts to the cardboard, fill the second with padding polyester and also glue. Sew the edges of the parts together.

Glue the legs to the calf, sew hands on the sides. Cut out and sew a shirt from a motley fabric, and a hat from jersey. For beauty, you can sheathe the edges of the headdress with fur. Add the necessary details: buttons, berries, a spoon in hand, etc. The do-it-yourself brownie from burlap is ready!

Where to place the housekeeper

After acquiring a talisman or creating it with your own hands, the question arises - where to settle it? The most favorite place for arranging your home near a brownie is a corner behind the stove, a pantry, a cellar or an attic. The little housekeeper prefers to live in quiet, secluded places. The brownie was always the first to enter a new house, and his favorite habitat left behind him: it is impossible to occupy the house of the spirit, as one can get sick.

Recently, there has been a rather popular trend to hang a brownie figurine in a conspicuous place to appease the spirit. You can put a cup of milk nearby, put cookies or sweets. The spirit does not feed on food itself, but on its energy, so it is not worth finishing up after it.

A brownie with a spoon should be placed in the kitchen, you can put a security guard in the corridor, figurines for good luck, wealth will be most effective in a library, study or living room.

Can a talisman do harm

In general, a homely spirit is a peaceful, useful creature. It sits quietly behind the stove, if they do not forget to feed it, warns of misfortunes, illnesses, natural disasters. But making a brownie angry is not a tricky business either. And then he begins to take revenge: he can hide things, change their places, throw off a blanket from a sleeping person, break dishes, drop household items, entangle threads. And he can even send a stranger to the family who will cause a lot of trouble.

Most often, the spirit can be angry if you quarrel in the house or in the yard, or stand on a trash heap, if a woman walks with her hair untied or sleeps naked, if you work at night, forget to have dinner, occupy the house of the brownie, or put some things there. You can save yourself from an angry spirit by hanging a mirror in the room. He will see his reflection, be frightened and quiet down.

A cute little brownie, sewn with your own hands, will become a decoration for your home, and such a doll will also play the role of a family amulet. This toy will be a wonderful gift for relatives or friends and, of course, you can put it in your apartment.

Households can be of various shapes and differ both in execution and in the materials required, depending on which master class you liked more, and which author took on the task.

  1. An oblong bag is sewn from burlap, the material that is used to decorate wine bottles is well suited, it is dense and beautiful. You can sew both on a sewing machine and with your own hands, the main thing is tight. For orientation, let's take an example of dimensions 14x24 cm.After we managed to sew three sides, the bag is turned inside out and the corners are straightened.
  2. We fill the container with padding polyester, cotton wool or a fragrant filler such as sawdust or herbs, on the sides we make holes for the pens with a pencil. They can be made from pigtails of twine or burlap threads. The length and thickness of the arms are to be scaled to the size of the "body". We pass the braid through the holes, draw out and align on both sides.
  3. Next, gently indent about 2 cm from the top of the bag, tighten the rest with a thread. Thus, the toy received the crown. We attach a wig made of "hair" to it. The hairstyle that the brownie gets can be made from twine or a grass brush with your own hands. We put the hair on glue and attach it to the crown, cut it at our discretion.
  4. The bast shoes that the brownie will wear can be made from twine or corn leaves. We stuff the rolled burlap into them, and the doll gets its legs.
  5. The next step is to make a hat. It can be sewn from burlap, in such sizes and shapes as you want. It is not necessary to attach it to the head, you can just put it on. We make Kuzyu whiskered with tow.
  6. Next, we fix the eyes, the nose can be made from walnut or beans, the mouth can be made from halves of lentils.
  7. The brownie is ready, it remains to reward Kuzya with good and food supplies. For them, you need to sew several small bags and fill them with cereals. To prevent the contents from scattering, it must first be mixed with glue and wait until dry.
  8. The toy will be ready after you decorate it with your own hands, you can fix on it dummies of berries, fruits, vegetables, ears of wheat and everything that your imagination allows.
