Quilling patterns. Do-it-yourself tea house with quilling decorations. Quilling items

Hello friends! Until recently, I was fully confident that products requiring delicate handling in the quilling technique are mainly intended for static use - hang on the wall or, for example, on a Christmas tree, put / put on a shelf or table and admire. :) But, as it turned out, in this type of handicraft there exists and is developing quite successfully such a direction seemingly incompatible with the fragility of the material, like quilling jewelry. Imagine: earrings, bracelets, necklaces, paper rings - all this is as functional as it is beautiful. Moreover, absolutely everyone can make jewelry using the quilling technique with their own hands, it is enough just to master the basic technology. And Ekaterina Shkodovskaya will help us with this.

So, with a simple example, I will show how you can make exclusive quilling jewelry from the simplest materials.

We will make a jewelry set of earrings and a bracelet.

And for this we need the following materials and tools:

quilling paper,

quilling tool,

pVA glue,

metal rings, ear wires and bracelet clasp.

Let's start with the selection of the colors of the future jewelry. I want to make my kit in a nautical style, so I chose white and blue colors of paper stripes for quilling.

We take half a strip of white color and begin to wind a tight roll. Already at the very end of the strip, glue half of the blue strip to it and continue to wind it.

We make sure that our roll does not accidentally dissolve. It must remain tight and tight.

Having tightened the blue strip, we glue the white one again, but not half, but whole. Since the diameter of the roll is gradually increasing, we now need a longer strip.

We continue to wind up. Then we glue the blue again ...

In my idea, the earrings will not be very large in diameter, so after the blue one I wind only 1.5 more white stripes. At the very end, it is necessary to fix a metal ring (I opened it in advance with the help of scissors) by passing a couple of turns of a paper strip through it.

We repeat this entire procedure a second time - and the earrings are ready.

2. Quilling bracelet.

Since we are talking about a single set of jewelry, we will make the component links of the bracelet exactly according to the same principle as the earrings. Just keep in mind that you need to insert 2 metal rings into each element of the bracelet, placing them on opposite sides.

Then, with the help of these rings, all the elements are connected into a chain.

Trying on the blank on hand.

If necessary, lengthen the bracelet by adding more roll elements. Having received the desired size, we attach the clasp.

That's all, a set of paper jewelry is ready. It remains only to cover it with varnish or, if there is no varnish, you can thoroughly coat the product with PVA glue, and then sprinkle with hairspray.

Thus, showing a little imagination and playing with color, you can embody a variety of patterns and images in quilling jewelry and create original jewelry to your own taste and mood. :)

For example, you can make funny fish earrings for a girl - from the elements of a wave and two curls. Or geometric earrings - from a rectangular contour and circles of different sizes pasted into it.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated in the technology of making paper jewelry. If you know how to make the basic elements of quilling, then you are already capable of a lot \u003d).

See what earrings can be made from ordinary small rolls and a pair of paper rings:

or from the elements "drop":

And here is what a floral ornament for earrings was invented by a self-taught craftswoman from the UK Victoria Brewer:

By the way, quilling flowers, for example, roses, can become a wonderful decorative element for jewelry.

or fringed flowers.

Even in vegetables and fruits, you can find a source of inspiration for creating intricate decorations, as did the Ukrainian quilling craftswoman Katya Vrublevskaya (http://kasia-wroblewska.blogspot.in).

Earrings - carrots or earrings - tangerines - in my opinion, are just a great accessory for a holiday party or carnival. Looking at them, it is impossible not to smile :)

How do you like this paper jewelry?

There is a special direction in the art of paper rolling - contour quilling. Using his techniques, you can create absolutely incredible pictures that amaze the imagination with the grace of lines, airy openwork and breadth of possibilities.

The main principle of contour quilling is to create a stroke (outline) on the base and partially or completely fill this stroke with segments of suitable shades. It is very important to choose the right base. It can be either a picture that creates a background for work, or just textured colored or white paper.

Paintings using the contour quilling technique can be created on the basis of almost any drawing - from simple sketches and silhouettes to full-fledged paintings. From a distance, such works are very similar to real paintings, made in oil or pencil.

The main element of contour quilling, also called silhouette or graphic, are lines. The contours of the template are outlined with ordinary paper strips for quilling, only they are glued with their butt, at right angles to the base. It is not too difficult to do this yourself, even novice needlewomen can cope with this task. This process is described in great detail in this video.

With the help of strips, smooth, wavy and curved contours are created at different angles, which make up the picture. The voids in the contours are filled with the same segments glued to the base:

Also, in contour quilling, you can freely use the elements of ordinary quilling - rolls, droplets, eyes and others. The combination of styles allows you to get amazingly vivid and unique paintings. Scrolls of several varieties are especially actively used in this technique:

Half of the strip is twisted into a tight roll, the rest is also twisted, but in the opposite direction. The result is a figurine that resembles the English S. It is not necessary to glue it, slightly loosening it keeps its shape.

The edges of the strip folded in half are rolled outward to reach the fold. The antennae or letter V are obtained.

The strip is conventionally divided into three equal parts and folded in a 1: 2 ratio. The tips are twisted to one side.

A tight roll is rolled out of the strip, a little short of its edge, and then freely dissolves. The result is a comma-like curl.

This element is similar to a V-shaped scroll, only the edges are curled not outward, but inward, forming a heart.

  • when working, it is better to give preference to thick glue, which, after drying, becomes transparent (for example, construction PVA);
  • the use of tweezers will greatly facilitate the process of gluing the strips to the base;
  • glue on the end of the strip can be applied with a toothpick or brush to avoid spreading;
  • it is better to connect the stripes on straight lines, since it will be much more difficult to connect them imperceptibly at the points of bending of the base contour;
  • it is better to mark the folds with dots so as not to get lost;
  • you need to work only with clean hands, otherwise you can ruin the whole work. To do this, it is convenient to keep a damp cloth close at hand to remove the glue from the fingers;
  • for work, it is better to use wider strips - from 0.5 to 1 cm.

In contour quilling, it is necessary to glue all the elements in stages so as not to disrupt the composition.

At first glance, it seems that graphic quilling is a very difficult technique that requires a lot of skill. Even experienced paper-rolling masters, at the sight of contour quilling, wonder how to make such beauty? However, in practice, it is quite simple to create crafts and paintings with your own hands with it. The main thing is to get used to the unusual technique. You can try your hand at using a simple MK to create a delicate bouquet of spring tulips using the contour technique.

  • pieces of colored paper for quilling (width - 7 mm, color - pink and green, but can be replaced to taste);
  • glue (transparent);
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • spiral twisting tool or substitute (optional).

Step by step description. Elements for the buds are twisted from pink strips: the segments from one edge are twisted into a tight roll, the other side remains straight. It is not necessary to try to make all the tails the same, in the process the excess will be cut off. After that, the finished curls are laid out on the surface of the base and glued to it one by one. If you first apply a diagram of the future flower, it will be more convenient to work.

Drops of glue will inevitably remain on the surface of the base and strips, but if it is selected correctly, after drying, its traces will be invisible, so there is no need to worry about this. When the outline of the tulip petals is glued, it is filled with curls inside, cutting off the excess:

Cut the green stripe in half to make the stem of the flower. One edge of each segment is twisted slightly. The resulting stem is attached to the base next to the bud, giving it a slightly curved shape. This can be done with scissors, passing them along the strip several times.

You can complement the bouquet with a graceful half-open bud. The paper is cut into three pieces 4.5 and 6 cm long, one edge is twisted, and the tails are connected. A stalk is attached to them, made according to the same principle. The finished flower is placed on the base in a suitable place and glued.

The second tulip flower is made in the same way as the first and glued to the base.

The stem can also be made from a whole strip that is folded in half, twisting the ends outward. Then the curled ends are glued to each other. And the stem itself - to the tulip.

If you like to use unusual techniques in the design of your home, then quilling in the interior of a children's room will definitely appeal to you.

Quilling is an applied art with which you can create paintings, panels and even volumetric figures from twisted strips of multi-colored paper. Along with mosaics and decorative wire decorations, quilling is becoming more and more Cactual for the interior of modern housing every day.

In a short time, intricate curled paper patterns have conquered the whole world. And if professionals in this business prefer unique paintings and three-dimensional figures, then having perseverance and some skills in working with paper, we can decorate our house with quilling quite well.

Quilling tools

For this type of paper, you need a paper curling tool. You can find it at a craft store or make it yourself. It is enough to buy a large tailor's needle with a wide eyelet, fix its sharp part in the shaft and remove the upper loop from the eyelet with pliers. The tool for curling paper patterns is ready.

You can purchase a stencil with circles of various diameters at a stationery store. Glue is also sold here. You can use special glue bases, but it's easier to stock up on a glue gun and PVA tubes.

To work with paper, you will need tweezers with long, pointed ends. You can use a flat one, but in this case you have to take care not to wrinkle or damage the finished parts.

Standard strips of quilling paper are sold at a craft store. If the desired color was not found, or in the assortment of strips of the wrong width, try cutting blanks for quilling by hand. To do this, fasten several sheets of colored office paper with a staple, mark the workpiece and cut the required number of strips using a clerical knife and a ruler.

Workplace and work methods

When organizing a workspace for quilling, take care of good lighting. An armchair or chair at the desktop must be chosen so that during painstaking work, your spine does not get tired, and your hands do not go numb.

On the table, place a corkboard or thin sheet of styrofoam on which you will shape the patterns. Such a base will protect the parts from excessive sliding and facilitate the assembly of the parts.

We start to twist

  • We pinch off a paper strip of the required length.
  • Thread the tip of the paper tape into the eyelet of the paper curling tool and turn it so that you start to wind the spiral.
  • Adjust the wrapping density with your finger.
  • Remove the finished spiral from the awl, let it open a little. We fix the tip with a drop of glue and give it a minute to dry. Now you can give the workpiece the shape you need.

To get an open spiral, let it bloom as much as possible after wrapping, without fixing the ends with glue. Finished parts can be cleaved, glued or secured with double-sided tape.

To create large volumetric paintings from quilling, you need to have figurative thinking, be able to keep a picture of an ideal product in your head and have great willpower to perseverance.

With a child, you will not be able to create something extremely unusual, but decorating a photo frame, making a postcard to your beloved grandmother is quite possible. Quilling, like many applied art techniques, is aimed at developing visual-figurative thinking and forms fine motor skills of the hands.

Children's room solutions

Today, the use of quilling in the interior of a children's room is experiencing a special rise. It has become fashionable to create and exchange postcards with twisted paper patterns, decorate walls with beautiful quilling-style paintings and ornaments, or come up with intricate swirl frames. Moreover, the material for twisting can be not only paper, but also silk ribbons, woolen threads and even leather blanks.

To learn how to decorate the interior of your home with quilling, you do not have to take courses. It is enough to download one of the master classes presented on the net. We will take a closer look at how you can decorate a children's room using quilling in its interior.

The photo on the wall in the children's room of a little fashionista will look very elegant and original if it is decorated with flowers and curled paper petals. Fancy twisted paper patterns look equally good both on photo frames and in decorative panels on the entire wall.

Quilling can be used to decorate pencil jars, flower pots, and even a work table can be decorated with a picture of curled paper by placing it under tempered glass.

Quilling can be used to decorate the lampshade of a table lamp. The intricate patterns of paper spirals give the desk lamp a touch of vintage.

See how unusual the candlestick looks, the base of which is studded with twisted paper patterns. Such candlesticks will appeal to a little princess or a growing gentleman. For example, my son gave a similar candlestick to a girl he is friends with.

Or a night light in the form of a ship with openwork sails, ready to soar into the heavens at any moment, will add a fabulous component to the world of a young dreamer.

In the children's room, a developing environment is added to an imaginary quilling pattern. For example, when a child is learning the alphabet, three-dimensional curled paper letters on the walls of the nursery will help with memorization.

What is quilling, what is needed for this skill and the technique of handicrafts. Easy quilling schemes, 29 photos and videos for creating shapes.

Quilling originated in the 14th century, now it is experiencing another birth. Many are attracted by the fact that such beauty can be created with your own hands from paper strips.

Quilling for beginners - what you need to prepare

For those who have never been involved in such creativity, it is better to start with simple crafts. It can be:

  • postcards;
  • snowflakes;
  • flowers;
  • panel;
  • images.

They will tell you how to make a craft using the quilling technique for beginners. Below are the basic shapes that are used to create true pieces of fine art. First you need to prepare everything you need for this type of creativity.

If you have the opportunity to buy a quilling kit, purchase it. The basic kit includes:
  • strips of colored paper;
  • a template with a coordinate grid, radii, guides applied to it;
  • a device with a bifurcated metal tip, with which paper tapes are twisted;
  • glue;
  • small scissors;
  • tweezers.
More complete sets for quilling are also available. There is a ruler with round holes to make curling elements of the desired size along it; pins for rough fastening of parts. Ready-made kits are also sold, in which there is a diagram, blanks for making flowers, a butterfly, a picture, and so on.

If you do not have the opportunity to buy a ready-made set, this should not stop those who want to create. Tape twisting quilling tools can be transformed into:

  • nail scissors with straight ends;
  • awl;
  • kernel;
  • gypsy igloo;
  • a toothpick.

Cut off its sharp part from the toothpick, and bifurcate the resulting tip with a clerical knife. In this hole, you will insert the edge of the paper tape and twist it.

When using nail scissors, paper strips are placed between two blades. Next, the tape is wrapped around this tool and a spiral of the desired size is obtained.

When using an awl and a gypsy needle, the edge of the strip is applied to the metal part, held with two fingers of the free hand and twisted. They also work with a rod, but in this case, the core of the workpiece may turn out to be larger than necessary, then any of the four tools listed above are used.

Quilling paper strips can also be replaced. To do this, cut them out of white or colored double-sided paper.

Quilling schemes

A detailed description of the manufacture of various elements of this needlework will help you create real masterpieces over time.

The main elements of quilling are:

  • tight and loose spiral;
  • curl;
  • drop and curved drop;
  • semicircle;
  • eye;
  • arrow;
  • sheet;
  • heart;
  • triangle;
  • crescent;
  • square;
  • foot;
  • horns.
Almost all work begins with making a "tight spiral". Take a strip of quilling paper. If there is no such material, then lay a sheet of A4 paper horizontally in front of you, with the movement of scissors from the bottom up, cut a strip equal to the width of 3-5 mm. Attach the tip between the blades of nail scissors, in the slot of a toothpick or a special quilling tool.

Hold the paper tape with your left hand and the tool with your right. If you have a double-sided strip, then its seamy part should look towards the rod. Rotate the tool clockwise, and with the fingers of your left hand, hold the spiral that begins to form at the top and bottom so that the curls are even and level.

When the tape is over, drop a little glue on its free end and attach it to the spiral so that it does not unwind, and the workpiece looks neat. This is how you made one of the main quilling shapes. Many others are based on this very element. Those who are better at using the left hand need to carry out this process in a mirror image.

The next element is called a "free spiral", make it from the shape you just got. To do this, remove the spiral from the needle, let it unwind a little. You can do it differently - do not let go of the fingers of your left hand, but rotate them slightly in the center of this quilling element, and the spiral will weaken.

To make a "curl", you do not need to glue the free end of the curled tape to the spiral. To make a "drop" it is necessary to squeeze the "free spiral" on one side with your fingers for a few seconds. A "curved blob" is obtained if you bend the corner of the "blob".

The element called "eye" is also easy to make. To do this, the "free spiral" needs to be pulled slightly to the sides and squeezed from two opposite sides, then released. The "leaf" shape will turn out if you bend the corners of the "eye", one - to the right, the second - to the left. To make a "semicircle", take a free spiral, press on it so that the upper side becomes rounded and the lower one is even.

It clearly shows how the elements are made using the quilling photo technique. Looking at it, you will understand how to create an "arrow". To do this, press your fingers on 3 sides of the spiral to make a triangle, now press its two corners to each other, leave the third as it was.

To make a greeting card using the quilling technique, you can decorate it with an element called "horns". To do this, you need to take a long paper tape, bend it in half, wind the right side in a spiral clockwise direction, and the left side counterclockwise.

The "heart" shape is made in the same way, only the right half of the ribbon is wound counterclockwise, and the left half - clockwise. The junction of these two elements must be pinched with your fingers to get the corner of the heart.

The "crescent" is made from the "eye", its 2 opposite corners are bent in the form of the letter "C". The "triangle" will turn out when the "free spiral" is squeezed in three places, and to make a "square" it must be done from 4 sides.

For the "foot", you need to make a "triangle" shape, and then bend two opposite sides of it with your finger to the center.

How flowers are made using the quilling technique

Now that you know how to make the basic elements for this type of creativity, you can start the fun process and create original postcards. If you want to decorate them with these colors, then from the "free spiral" make a "drop" shape. Use a different color of quilling paper to make the petals multi-colored. The middle of the flower will be formed from a "free spiral" shape.

Put glue on a postcard or cardboard, attach a "free spiral" here. Also, using glue, fix a few petals around it. The stem is glued in the same way. For it, take a strip of green paper. The middle leaf, as you can see, is made of the "drop" shape, and the top and bottom ones are made of the "eyes" elements. After the glue is dry, the work is complete.

You can make other postcards using the quilling technique. For beginners, another simple option is offered.

As you can see, the middle of the flowers is a "free spiral". The petals are made from the same element but in a different shade. Decorate the card with a heart element and an eye shape. A beautiful creation will be appreciated by the one to whom you present such a gift.

How snowflakes are made using the quilling technique

For the New Year, you can make a snowflake. For her you will need:
  • quilling paper;
  • stencil;
  • tailor's pins;
  • glue gun or PVA;
  • quilling tool.
Cut 3 strips of paper in half, you need 5 cuts. Insert the tip of the first into the hole of the quilling tool, twist the tape tightly. Remove it and insert it into the hole in the stencil. Let's say it is 10 mm. You will have your first workpiece with this diameter. Make the next 4 elements the same size.

To remove the spiral from the stencil, pick it up in the center with a toothpick and remove it, pressing the workpiece with your finger. Let it unwind a little, glue the tip. You now have a "free spiral". Place all 5 blanks in the center of the template, it will be easy to align them with it.

If beginners make a snowflake using the quilling technique, then it is better to attach the elements to the template with a pin, and then glue them together. Then the parts will be arranged as needed.

As you can see in the photo, 10 parts of the “eyes” are located around the five “free spiral” elements. Make them and glue them together and with the central parts of the snowflake.

The next 5 parts of the "free spiral" are made of solid strips, so they will be 2 times larger than similar ones glued to the center of the snowflake. A stencil will also help to achieve their evenness. Use a hole with a diameter of 2 cm. After gluing the tip to the spiral, let it unwind and attach each such blank to the previous row of parts.

To prevent the “free spiral” in the snowflake from unwinding, direct the center of the spiral to its edge, press down. You can apply a little glue here so that the middle of the workpiece moves to the edge.

As you can see, the "tight spiral" is completing the production of the winter and New Year attribute. You need 5 such elements, made using a stencil. Glue them in place. If you will be hanging a snowflake, pass a strong thread through the center of one "tight spiral" and pull it out through the middle of another. Tie a bow and hang it on the tree or on the wall.

Hello dear readers! Back in winter, in a shop for an artist, I came across a funny little thing - a tea house. A tea house is a kitchen accessory that looks like a small house with tea bags inside. Since the house is being sold with a wooden blank for decoration, I was directly on fire to make it with decorations using the quilling technique. I thought for a long time what theme of jewelry to choose, and recently inspiration came. I decided to decorate the teahouse with lemon branches. Today I would like to bring to your attention my creation - a tea house with do-it-yourself quilling decorations.

Materials:

  • Paper ribbons 3 mm, length 29.5 cm, density 80 g / m2: white, yellow (lemon), dark green, peach, yellow (warm shade), light brown and light purple
  • Paper ribbons 1.5 mm, length 29.5 cm, weight 80 g / m: white
  • Teahouse wooden blank
  • Scissors
  • PVA glue
  • Hot glue gun
  • Twisting tool
  • Shirring tool
  • Officer's ruler
  • Scrapbooking paper in three colors
  • Stamens are dark purple
  • Stamens are yellow
  • Green wire
  • Brown paper twine
  • Yellow nail polish
  • Stationery knife

First, I chose scrapbooking paper for the walls of the house. My choice fell on a light yellow background with a white openwork mesh. I cut out pieces of paper to the size of my house and, using PVA glue, glued them to it. When the walls were dry, I took a clerical knife and cut holes in the window and a hole at the bottom for serving tea bags. The inside of the walls was also pasted over with paper. I chose light yellow polka dots on a light green background color of paper for scrapbooking. I also cut out pieces for my house and pasted over the inside of the house, not forgetting about the day. The roof of the house is removable for loading tea bags. I also pasted it over with paper, chose a light purple background imitating wood. After drying the paper on the house, I painted over the places on the window and at the bottom of the teahouse where the paper was not covered with yellow nail polish.

So my teahouse was ready for quilling decoration.

With the help of brown paper twine, she formed three branches. One is on the back wall, and the other two are on the sides, so that their ends face the front of the house.

The next stage of work was the preparation of lemons. Each lemon was folded from two tight rolls, shaped so that they imitate the shape of a lemon. Diameter of rolls for lemon is 21mm and 22mm. Having glued the elements from the inside with PVA glue, I fastened them together afterwards. I have 18 lemons on my house. I made the stem of a lemon using a small piece of green wire.

Lemon flowers were made from white paper ribbons 1.5 mm wide. The lemon flower consists of five petals, a center and a stem. I made the petals an eyelet as an element of quilling (the diameter of the loose roll is 8 mm). Three yellow stamens served as the middle. The flower leg is a cone element (roll diameter 8 mm) glued from the inside. In this work, I have 23 lemon flowers. The stalk of the flower, like that of lemons, is a piece of green wire.

I made lemon leaves from dark green ribbons. For the teahouse, I used 46 leaves. Each lemon leaf was folded from two quilling elements by a wave. She used four paper ribbons for one element and unrolled the roll on the officer's ruler (circle diameter 24 mm).

I glued a butterfly on the roof of the teahouse.

Started working on a butterfly from her torso and head. The body was made from two cones of light brown paper ribbons. The diameters of these two elements are 11 mm and 12 mm. The head of two rolls (diameter 9 mm and 10 mm), which I formed with a half ball and glued the inside of the elements, then joined together. Antennae made of two purple stamens.

On one wing, butterflies twisted:

- three drops of light purple color (diameter 11 mm), pasted into each cut off purple stamen;

- one drop of light purple color (diameter 8 mm), pasted a cropped purple stamen into the middle;

- tight roll of light purple color (diameter 7 mm);

- two horseshoes made of peach colored ribbons (diameter of a loose roll is 24 mm);

One horseshoe made of peach colored ribbons (roll diameter 38 mm);

- one horseshoe made of yellow ribbons (roll diameter 24 mm);

- four yellow droplets (diameter 24 mm);

- two yellow droplets (diameter 15 mm);

- one peach droplet (diameter 13 mm);

- one element of a wave of yellow ribbons (diameter 22 mm);

- two crescents made of yellow paper strips (roll diameter 12 mm);

- two rolls of light brown ribbons with a diameter of 11 mm;

- one roll of light brown ribbons with a diameter of 9 mm;

- I passed three paper ribbons of light brown color through the corrugating tool, bent them twice in half, and made loops of them along the edges of the wings.

Having collected all the elements, I fastened them together with a hot glue gun. Knowing that the butterfly's wings are symmetrical, I carefully checked everything with a ruler. When the wings were ready, I glued them to the side of the body on both sides.

So I managed to decorate the teahouse using the quilling technique with my own hands.

And now it serves me as a wonderful decoration for my kitchen and is the highlight of the tea drinking process. I like the guests very much, they cannot take their eyes off the cute little house.

I hope you also enjoyed this little kitchen product. It will serve as a wonderful decor element, and it will be a wonderful gift for any hostess.
