Ready-made pattern of children's shorts for a boy. Shorts pattern. How to sew women's, men's, children's shorts? Building the back

Do you love needlework? Do you want to get ready for the summer season? Make your own hot weather clothes. The pattern of shorts, for example, is not difficult to build, although it is even easier to take a ready-made template. Making a product is also not difficult. Create your own unique look for hot weather!

What will be required

In order to make a quality item, you will need the following:

  • the cloth;
  • pins;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine;
  • gum, zipper, buttons, rivets, decor (if desired, the simplest model can be made without all this).

In fact, there is nothing complicated. The main thing is to build all the details correctly and not make a mistake with the dimensions.

How to take measurements

The shorts pattern can be built on graph paper or a regular sheet. It will consist of two parts - halves of the front and back parts. A product is sewn from four elements. To build a template, you will need to determine the dimensions, which are shown in the following diagram.

You need to measure:

  • waist and hips;
  • bottom width;
  • side seam length
  • seat height (distance from the waist to the infragluteal crease).

If you take a ready-made pattern, it is also worth clarifying everything: take measurements, determine their compliance with the workpiece. Modern computer capabilities greatly facilitate the process of selecting patterns. You can print the found template in the desired scale, cut out the details, glue the parts if they do not fit in the A4 format, and work with them on the fabric. There are also special programs for building patterns.

Women's shorts: pattern

To sew the simplest product, it is enough to take such a drawing as a template, which is shown in the figure below. Print the diagram or build it yourself, starting from the sides of the right angle.

In order to build a pattern yourself, take a sheet of graph paper or newsprint. The size should be slightly longer than the length of future shorts and wider than the half-girth of the hips, if you make a template for two elements on one sheet.

To build the back (as well as the front) of the shorts, draw a right angle. On the vertical, set aside the length of the side seam, and horizontally - 1/2 of the half-circumference of the waist. Set aside the width along the bottom edge. Mark the level of the seat line. Next, work with crotch seams. The waist of the back can be made higher so that the shorts do not slip if the butt is voluminous enough.

As you can see, you will have to cut out four pieces. The belt and bottom processing are done with the help of a hem. In these shorts, you can insert an elastic band at the top or sew a zipper in the front. Then you will have to build a place for a zipper and a one-piece slope on the front part. In the simplest version, you can do without a fastener.

Having mastered the basic model, it is easy to modify it at your discretion: sew on pockets in front and behind, make a separate belt or belt, decorate with studs, zippers. In fact, it is not difficult to make women's shorts. The pattern can be used the same, but improved for different models.

How to sew shorts for a child

For a schoolchild or a kid from a kindergarten, you can make a product from natural fabric according to the same pattern that is presented in the previous section. Dimensions, of course, need to be determined by a particular person. This template is suitable for both boys and girls. The shorts are loose and comfortable.

The sequence of work will be as follows:

  1. First, a pattern of shorts is made.
  2. The details are superimposed on the fabric folded in half, secured with pins, outlined along the contour, taking into account allowances for the seams and cut out.
  3. Next, you need to sweep the parts and try on. If everything fits, you can sew on.
  4. Fold the front and back pieces right sides in and sew the seam along the inside (it will go along the side of the thigh and leg). Do the same with the second pair of elements.
  5. Connect both obtained parts with the right sides inward and sew the front and back seams. You will get what is shown in the photo below.

6. Now you need to form the legs with a single seam.

7. At the last stage, a belt is performed. It can also be made from a separate stretch fabric or as shown in the following figure. You can insert an elastic band inside. Also carefully process the bottom of the shorts.

Don't forget to iron the seams and finish the edges. For a girl, you can choose a beautiful fabric initially or, lastly, sew on additional decor in the form of bows or frills, as well as trim with decorative stitching in a contrasting shade. The length of these shorts can be changed as desired by making the details of the pattern shorter or longer.

How to sew a skirt-shorts

To make this product, you will need to build a new template. Examples are shown in the following illustration. In fact, you get shorts with wide legs of a certain shape, which give the impression that you are wearing a skirt.

If you want to make a skirt-shorts, the pattern from the first template can be just slightly modified. This is done according to the principle shown in the diagram above, but there is another option in which your product will look like a regular skirt in front and just shorts in the back. To do this, an additional detail can be sewn into one of the side seams in the form of the front of the skirt, for example, with pleats. Velcro or any other fastener will be located on the belt. The second vertical edge of the element remains free, which does not restrict movement.

Pattern of men's shorts

Any free model can be built from the same initial template. The differences will be when you start to sew in a zipper or make a fastener in the form of buttons. The figure below shows the pattern of the "unisex" option, that is, suitable for both men and women. The arrows show the direction of the lobar thread.

Unlike previous blanks, more details will be required here, since pockets are assumed in front and behind. They can be made symmetrical, that is, two on both sides or only one on the front. Choose yourself. It is more convenient to sew these elements together with the side seams in the first place. The belt will be made last. The fabric is better to choose elastic.

Now you know how to sew shorts. The patterns given in the article will help you with this. Use them as initial templates that you can improve on your own and make different versions of exclusive items.

Part one: Pattern of children's trousers (front half)

Pattern of children's trousers from 3 to 16 part 1 (step-by-step construction of the front half).

We build a pattern of children's trousers for children from 3 to 16.

This is a very simple and easy to use technique. Such it will seem to those who have previously encountered other methods. And for beginners, to simplify the building process, we suggest step by step instructions. Step by step, following the instructions, you will easily cope with the task and in the end you will come to the conclusion that everything is really very simple.

This technique can be used to build a pattern of trousers for both boys and girls (up to size 42). For older girls, the technique for constructing a pattern of trousers for women is used.

To build a pattern of trousers for children preschool age You can use another method, which is

First, we take measurements from the child. All measurements are important, you need to take this process seriously. The more accurately the measurements are taken, the better the pattern will turn out. The main parameters that you can’t do without are the semi-circumferences of the waist, hips and the length of the trousers. If measurements of seat height and (or) knee length cannot be taken, then these values \u200b\u200bcan be calculated using the formula. You also need to decide on the width of the trousers along the bottom line. For a guide, you can take old trousers (from which the child grew up), measure the bottom of the leg and add a few centimeters. You can do the same when determining the length of the trousers.

To build a drawing of a pattern of children's trousers, the following measurements will be required:

Name Designation Size cm Parameters
Length trousers dB 88 Measure from the side vertically from the waistline to the desired length of the trousers. The measure is recorded in full.
Pants length to the knee dbk 50* Measure at the same time as measuring the length of the trousers. From the waist line to the middle of the kneecap. The measure is recorded in full.
Half waist St 30 Measure at the narrowest point of the waist. The measurement is recorded in half size.
Semi circumference of the hips Sat 38 Measure horizontally at the most protruding points of the buttocks, taking into account the bulge of the abdomen. The measurement is recorded in half size.
seat height Sun 23* Measured from a person sitting on a chair. On the side from the waist line to the plane of the chair. The measure is recorded in full.
Pants Hem Width Shbn 18 Finished pants width. It is determined independently depending on the style.
*This value can be determined by calculation (according to the formula)

The front half of the pants.
In the upper left corner of the prepared sheet of paper, draw a right angle with a vertex at point T.

Length trousers.
From the point T down, we set aside the measurement of the length of the trousers (db), set the point H and draw a horizontal line of arbitrary length to the right.

In our example, the length of the trousers is Db \u003d 88 cm, and you are postponing your measurement.
TN \u003d Db \u003d 88 cm.

The pattern is shown in size 28.

To build a pattern of a different size, you need:
Waist circumference - 28cm;
Semicircumference of the hips - 28cm;
Shorts length - 30cm.
Construction of a pattern drawing.
Construction of the front half. Let's draw a right angle with a vertex at point A.
Shorts length . Set aside 30 cm from point A down and put point H (the length of the shorts). Draw a horizontal line of any length from point H to the right.
Step line. From point A we set aside 20 cm down and mark the point W (1/2 of the semicircle of the hips plus 6 cm for all sizes 28: 2 + 6 = 20 cm). Draw a horizontal line of arbitrary length from the W point to the right.

Step width. From the W point to the right, set aside 19 cm and designate the W1 point (1/2 of the semicircle of the hips plus 5 cm for all sizes 28: 2 + 5 = 19 cm). Through the point Ш1 we draw a vertical line up to the intersection with the horizontal line, the point will be called T. Down to the intersection with the bottom line, the intersection point will be denoted by H1. =2.8cm).

Bow line. From the point Ш1 we set aside 2.8 cm upwards (a segment equal to the segment Ш1Ш2) and denote the point Ш3. From the point Ш1 along the line dividing the angle in half, set aside 2 cm. We draw the bow line through the points T, Ш3, 2, to the point Ш2. From the points T t W3 to the right, set aside 3 cm each and put the points P and P1. Connect points T, P, P1 and Sh3.

Waistline. From point T to the left, set aside 17.5 cm and designate point T1 (1/2 waist semicircle plus 3.5 cm for all sizes 28: 2 + 3.5 = 17.5 cm).

Side line and plank . Set aside 12 cm from point A down and put point P2. From points T1 and P2 to the left at right angles, set aside 3 cm, put points P3 and P4. We connect points T1 P3, P4, P2.

Inseam line and low shorts. From the point Ш2 through the point Н1 we will draw the line of the step seam, extend it beyond the point Н1 down by 2 cm and designate the point Н2. Connect points H and H2.

Curling line. Divide the segment Ш Ш1 in half and draw a vertical line through the division point up to the intersection with the horizontal line, the intersection point T2 and down to the intersection with the bottom line.

Drawstring at the waistline . Set aside 2 cm from point T2 to the right. The length of the tuck is arbitrary.

Construction of the back half of the shorts . Let's draw the front half of the shorts, and based on its initial points, we will build the back half.

Step width and seat line. From the point Ш2, we extend the line to the right by 5 cm and denote the point Ш4 (1/4 of the semicircle of the hips minus 2 cm for all sizes 28:4-2=5 cm).

Step seam. Extend the bottom line of the shorts from point H2 to the right by 3 cm and put point H3. Let's connect points H3 and W4. Then, from point H3 upwards, set aside the length of the crotch seam of the front half (from point W2 to point H2) and set point W5. Let's connect points Ш5 and Ш2.

Set aside 4 cm from the point T to the left and denote the point T3. We will connect the points Ш3 and Т3 with a dotted line and extending the line beyond the point Т3 by 4 cm, we will designate the point Т4. Sh3, 2, and Sh2.

Waistline. FROM point A, extend the horizontal line to the left by an arbitrary length. From the point T3 to the left, set aside 19.5 cm and designate the point T5. Let's connect points T5 and T4.

Side seam and placket . From the point H to the left, extend the line by 2 cm and denote the point H4. Let's connect points H4 and T5. From the point T5 we set aside 12 cm down and denote the point P5. From points T5 and P5 to the left at right angles, set aside 3 cm and denote points P6 and P7. Points T5, P6, P7, and P5 will be connected.

Bottom line. Let's connect points H4 and H3.

A tuck at the waistline. Divide the waistline from point T5 to point T4 in half. Let's denote the division point as T6. From the point T6 to the right and to the left along the waist line, set aside 1.5 cm. Then from the point T6 down we draw a dotted line 7 cm long. Points 1, 5, 7, and 1.5 will be connected.

I don’t know about you, but we were told in kindergarten to dress the child in shorts. And not in simple ones, but with pockets - so that at the right moment the nanny could take out a handkerchief or napkin from there.

From the moment of this “news”, the imagination of the mother-needlewoman began to draw many models of shorts - plain and colorful, elongated and short. I settled on the simplest option, so now I will show you how to sew knitted shorts for a boy with a patch pocket.

Materials and tools:

  • Knitwear (cooler or interlock) - 0.5 m
  • Wide waistband
  • Threads
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine with knit stitch
  • tailor pins
  • Safety pin for threading elastic

Pattern of knitted shorts

Here is a modified template of children's shorts from the children's fashion magazine Ottobre. In the initial version, it was a panty pattern, but now it is shortened and supplemented with a patch pocket pattern. How to correctly calculate the size of the pattern for shorts?

Everything is very simple. Measure your baby's waist, divide by two and add 3 cm (this width is added so that the shorts are not tight). Remember the resulting value and increase the pattern on the screen so that the top side of the template is equal to it. That's all, now you can cut out the pattern along with the pocket template.

How to sew shorts for a boy with your own hands:

1. With sewing pins, attach the pattern to the knitted fabric, folded in half. The template allows you to cut out two parts of the shorts at once, why not use this? The main thing is to make sure that the two halves are folded with the wrong sides inward (so that they turn out to be mirrored). Cut out two knitted parts at the same time and remove the pins from them.

2. Attach the pocket template to the fabric and cut it out. Then, with a hot iron, smooth out the folds provided for by the pattern (from the beginning - the lower one, then the side ones and finally the upper one).

3. Sew the last fold (aka the top fold) on a typewriter. You can use a knitted seam or even any decorative one, even diamonds, even leaves. Lay out the two pieces of shorts in front of you and think at what level you want to place the pocket. If its role is purely decorative, the pocket can be raised higher. And if it needs to be used for its intended purpose, it is better to place it lower so that it is convenient for the baby to use the pocket. Attach the pocket with pins.

4. Baste it with thread so that you can carefully sew this part.

5. Sew the patch pocket with a straight stitch.

6. The pocket is in place, which means it's time to assemble the product. Fold the two mirror parts of the shorts inside out. With a knitted seam (teeth), sew the front line of the product.

7. Then sew the back line (it is deeper). Now you can preview what the finished shorts will look like.

8. Now sew the legs with one seam. A knit stitch is also suitable for this, which is ideal for stretchy fabric and does not require any additional work on the edges of the fabric.

9. Double-tuck the bottom of the legs and iron them.

10. Sew the legs with a straight stitch.

11. It remains to decorate only the top of the product! Tuck the top line twice so that in the final version your elastic band can fit into the “tunnel”. Sew with a straight seam.

12. Using a safety pin, thread the elastic inside the upper tunnel, connect its tips and sew them.

13. Evenly distribute the folds of fabric throughout the elastic band.

Children's knitted shorts for a boy, with a patch pocket, ready! They are quite simple (without side seams), so that such shorts can be sewn on, even for a whole kindergarten!

Boys usually need a lot of shorts. For summer walks, for the garden ...

My boys are now walking a lot, and the shorts can barely stand one day :). At best, they are just dirty, or even hooked somewhere. While some shorts are being “restored”, we need the next, and the next ...))

For kindergarten, you also need a certain set of shorts.

Therefore, I adapted to sew them extremely simply and quickly. Now I'll tell you about it.

It is very convenient to sew children's shorts with your own hands from cotton jersey. For these shorts I used .

How to cut shorts

In order to sew shorts for a boy, I take a pattern of ordinary trousers and cut them out. The pattern can be taken in a magazine with children's patterns. There are quite a lot of them now.

I use a pattern that I used to sew school trousers for my eldest son. I don't change anything. I just trace the pattern to the desired length of the shorts.

On the side, step cuts, and the seam of the seat allowances - 0.7 cm. On the bottom 1.5 - 2 cm for the hem. On the upper cut 2 - 2.5 cm per belt, depending on the width of the elastic band that you insert into the belt.

When cutting, do not forget about the direction of the shared thread!

For both shorts, the eldest and the youngest son, I use one pattern. Only for the older one I add allowances, and for the younger one I cut out without allowances. So I get some bigger shorts, some smaller ones.

Half the job is done, the shorts are cut.

I sew shorts for boys on a regular sewing machine, with an overcast stitch. It is very similar to a zigzag.

Fold the front and back halves of the shorts right sides together.

We sew the side and step seams, pre-cutting with pins or sweeping the details.

Then we fold the finished halves of the shorts along the seam of the seat, chop or sweep, and sew.

It remains to process the bottom and top.

We bend the allowance of the lower cut inward, on the wrong side. For hemming the bottom, it is convenient to use a double needle (it gives 2 parallel lines on the front side, and a zigzag on the inside). That's what they do in factories.

But ... you can do without it. You can sew in a zigzag, or lay 2 parallel lines on the front side.

Cut off the desired length of elastic band for the belt. You can take the usual linen, or wider - 2 cm wide. Sew it into a circle.

We bend and hem the upper cut as well as the lower one, inserting the elastic inward.

On factory items, I often see that the belt is hemmed, grabbing the elastic, that is, the elastic also enters the seam. It is more comfortable. But for this you need to manage to stretch the elastic band while sewing so that the assembly is distributed evenly over the entire width of the belt. This requires some experience.

Unless you're sewing a pair of shorts every day and you're not sure you can accurately distribute the gather, it's best not to grab the elastic with the needle. Let it move freely inside the belt. In this case, later, it will be much easier to adjust the length of the elastic, if necessary.

That's all.

Now you know how to sew shorts for a boy with your own hands :). One evening is enough for you to perform them.

You can give tailored children's shorts a finished, interesting and unique look using decor and trim. Colored finishing decorative stitches, applications ... In my case,.

Not a good photo ((, but the only

By the way, you can also sew shorts for a girl. A girly look to the shorts will give the appropriate colors of knitwear, trim and decor.
