Before the New Year, the capital was again decorated with fluffy Christmas trees, bright art objects, dozens of meters of garlands, sparkling installations.

At any, even the darkest time of the day, you can walk along the illuminated streets and alleys, examining volumetric light figures: Santa Claus, angels, bears, Christmas balls, etc.

Where can you see real magic with your own eyes and recharge your New Year mood? Where to go to take holiday photos?

Magic forest on Manezhnaya Square

You can admire the tallest city spruce on Manezhnaya Square. Strasbourg, Bern, Nuremberg, Copenhagen, Prague, Vienna, Brussels, Riga, Vilnius and, of course, Moscow - the square invites guests on a journey through European cities, where the world's most famous Christmas markets take place.

The festive mood is created by live music and bright performances of theatrical groups. The main point of attraction for lovers of spectacular photos is the Christmas tree. It took 3 km of Christmas tree garlands and 3,500 toys to decorate it.

And here you can also take a walk in the snow-covered New Year's forest of 130 Christmas trees - it is spread under the dome of the luminous "Christmas sky", take pictures against the backdrop of the art objects "Moscow Troika" and "Nuremberg Christmas Mill" and watch how the lamplighter lights an old Prague lantern.

On the square there is a fair carousel where you can ride and take a photo as a keepsake.

Tale in Zaryadye

Zaryadye Park received a fantastic decoration for the New Year season 2019/2020. A good location, unique objects, transformed into festive attire, will undoubtedly be appreciated by both adults and children.

In the fairy tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King"

Tverskoy Boulevard will especially appeal to young citizens. After all, it is here that they will find themselves in the atmosphere of the most famous Christmas fairy tale of the 19th century, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. And artists dressed as characters from their favorite fairy tales, unusual art objects and a themed photo zone will help them in this. Every day here you can meet the brave Nutcracker, sweet Marie and the treacherous Mouse King, take part in exciting games and sports and take dozens of wonderful photos as a keepsake.

At this site, you can take atmospheric family photos in the "Christmas Anticipation" photo zone - against the backdrop of an elegant living room with a Christmas tree and shelves full of books. Children enjoy riding the toy horses.

Art objects of the Journey to Christmas festival

Moscow sparkles with festive lights and New Year's art objects on another occasion: until January 31, the annual Journey to Christmas festival takes place in the capital.

The festival venues traditionally host unusual installations, Christmas markets, street shows and concerts, exciting workshops and competitions.

Sunrise in Gorky Park

Skating rink "Sunrise" in Gorky Park stands out among its counterparts in the capital with a bright, extraordinary design. This season, the ice rink again sparkles with thousands of lights.

The design of the ice rink this season is dedicated to the events of the first half of the 20th century: space, flight and the pursuit of a dream. The main elements in the design of the ice rink and pavilions are a star, a planet, a satellite.

Skating rink at VDNKh

The skating rink at VDNKh is located on the Central Alley - from the Central Pavilion to the Agriculture Pavilion. From a bird's eye view, the ice rink with its outlines resembles a magical golden key.

Lovers of romance can take a ride along the Alley of Lovers around the Stone Flower fountain. Along the central alley of the ice rink there is a large-scale artistic composition - a fabulous field of luminous fir trees, snowdrops, cornflowers and forget-me-nots.

In the evening, the skating rink is illuminated. The fences and the pedestrian wooden bridge are also illuminated, from which a beautiful view opens.

The main exhibition of the country has changed for the New Year. Instead of lawns and flower beds, luminous flowers appeared, shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow, dandelion lamps grow on both sides of the Central Pavilion, and a field of fireflies flickers on Industry Square.

Immediately at the entrance to the exhibition, guests will be greeted by the Magic Alley, which consists of nine luminous openwork arches. Walking along it, you can get to the "Central" pavilion and see the unusual festive installation "Christmas Time". This is a luminous arch with columns almost 19 meters high. It almost completely repeats the outlines of the arch of the main entrance. The composition is crowned with a clock with a dial and a snowflake pendulum. The clock "Christmas Time" is not fake, and, indeed, accurately counts the hours and minutes.

GUM Fair and GUM Skating Rink on Red Square

Until February 29, the Christmas GUM Fair with carousels, attractions, hawkers, buffoons and mummers is open on Red Square. Located nearby.

Inside the structure, woven from 23,000 light bulbs, there will be a dance floor. There is enough space for everyone, because the diameter of the ball is as much as 17 meters. We will dance to winter melodies about the New Year and Moscow.

The redesigned arches will move to Kudrinskaya Square, the grounds near the circus on Vernadsky Avenue and near the Krasnye Vorota metro station. The designs will be decorated with heroes of Soviet postcards and luminous snowflakes.

And like true art objects, they require further explanation. After all, there is a "Flower of Life" and "Christmas Tree-Dragon", "Christmas Tree from Axes" and "Individual Christmas Tree-Doomsday Bunker", "Christmas Tree-Antenna" and "Yo-Christmas Tree". ABOUT THE EVENT

New Year's holiday is usually not complete without its main symbol - a decorated Christmas tree. The exhibition "Art-Yolka" is the creation by means of modern art and design of an unusual "Christmas tree space" - the plastic equivalent of the "Spirit of the Christmas Tree", as a ritual tree and the holiday of the same name. The exposition is conceived as a dynamic, whimsical installation and offers to enter as if inside the Christmas Tree itself, as in space, in contrast to the traditional festive action unfolding around the Christmas Tree. The gallery will create a unified festive environment, like a picturesque collage of different materials and semi-finished products, reminiscent of the attributes of the New Year holiday - Christmas decorations, forest animals and all sorts of fabulous "forest evil spirits".

The exposition includes large images of objects by master artists of the 20th century that correspond to the spirit of the holiday, as well as Art objects on the theme of the Christmas tree and non-trivial Christmas toys made by designers, glass artists, students of the Moscow Architectural Institute and the Moscow State Art Academy named after S.G. Stroganov and children's creative studios.

The New Year's exhibition installation can also be considered as a "theatrical decoration", in which various performances and quests for children will be played during the exhibition.

If you want to get a charge of joy for the whole year, come to our exhibition "Art Tree".

Exhibition "Christmas tree as an art object"

In Moscow, on the territory of the Krasny Oktyabr factory, an exhibition "Christmas tree as an art object" was held. The participants of the competition were faced with the task of creating an original New Year's tree that could become a work of modern art.
The winner of the competition was chosen as a result of the voting of the star jury - the installation "Return" became the winner. Anatomy of a Christmas Miracle by Nastasya Bezrukova and Nikita Sysoev won in the nomination "The most popular Christmas tree" according to the results of Internet voting.
Art objects were also awarded in the following nominations: the most non-Christmas tree - the Doomsday Bunker project, the most New Year tree - the project "Christmas Tree without balls, like a ball without Christmas trees", the most high-tech Christmas tree - the "Christmas Tree-Antenna" project, the " Tree of happiness.
Due to the fact that "Red October" is not only the center of cultural, but also the social life of the capital, the organizers established a special prize - "The Most Secular Christmas Tree", in which "MainYolka" from MainPeople won.
