Knitted sweaters with knitting needles from bouclé threads. Properties and basics of working with boucle yarn. Products and yarns “Bouclé”

Many novice needlewomen bypass the bouclé yarn options offered in stores, the range of which is presented in different colors and textures. In vain. This material creates beautiful soft and warm products that look great. By mastering some simple techniques of knitting from such wool and using patience, craftswomen with any level of knitting skills can work with it. Read about all this below.

The French word "boucle" translates as curl. Bouclé yarn has in its structure many such curls, located in a certain or chaotic order throughout the entire thread. Bouclé yarn is obtained by incorporating various knots, thickenings, and loops of the finest fluffy fibers into the structure. Due to the presence of such elements in the structure of the thread, the finished fabric is distinguished by its splendor, softness, and lightness. It is fluffy and very pleasant to the touch.

There are a few key points to consider when knitting with this yarn:

  • The fabric is knitted using primitive knitting: knit or purl stitch, simple elastic, single crochet. No other patterns, braids, arans, or openwork will be visible on it;
  • the associated parts do not hold their shape, and therefore the chosen style should be very simple with a minimum number of decreases or additions of loops;
  • things made from such yarn are voluminous, so it is recommended to slightly lengthen the selected model;
  • When knitting threads with a uniform arrangement of fluffy loops, select knitting needles of the appropriate number, which will knit a loop from the gap between the curls. Thus, on one side of the knitting there will be a smooth fabric, and on the other, all the boucle elements will be laid out, forming a fluffy structure.

Important! This texture does not show any flaws when knitting loops, but the needlewoman has no right to make a mistake - the wool from the finished product is very difficult to unravel, and then looks ugly.

Choosing a tool

Bouclé wool is knitted with knitting needles or thick crochet. The tool number is selected depending on the thickness of the thread, the order of the thickenings and the size of the curl. The fabric that we are going to knit should be not only fluffy, but also to a certain extent loose. This factor also works to increase the tool number.

Many needlewomen prefer to work with such yarn only with knitting needles, because there is a high risk of losing the next column on which crochet is based in the fluffy structure. But correctly selected knitting needles will result in exactly the degree of fluffiness that was originally intended by the structure of the yarn.

Important! With any knitting method, the wrong side of the product will be fluffy, which will become the front side in the finished product.

What can you knit from such threads?

An interesting texture, different color combinations, and often a smooth transition of two main shades into each other, pleasant tactile sensations when working and wearing inspire needlewomen to create stylish, interesting, and sometimes unique things:

For summer

Items for the warm season are knitted from bouclé cotton yarn. This material will look great on a top, blouse or dress. The products are not as fluffy as those made from wool, but the fluffiness is still present here. The design on such a product is slightly visible, so in certain places you can use small flagella or braids. For example, when highlighting a raglan joint or along the side edge of a product.

Important! When working with yarn, write down the number of stitches cast on and all increases and decreases. The loose fluffy fabric makes it impossible to see all the loops and count them in the previous part.

For winter

Warm sweaters and dresses made from bouclé yarn are pleasant to the body and to the touch and at the same time quite warm. But any product will turn out to be voluminous, but whether you can wear it under outerwear is a question that needs to be taken into account at the stage of planning a cardigan or sweater. If the item is intended to be worn under a down jacket or coat, then choose a model that is not very loose in cut, since the fluffy texture will give it additional volume. Dress, sweater, cardigan - no matter what you knit from bouclé, you will find it pleasant, comfortable, and warm to wear.

It is a special type of thread, thanks to which you can create original textured products. Decorative threads are made with special irregularities. This feature of bouclé yarn gives it increased softness and volume.

Yarn is produced by placing another material with thickenings in a chaotic order on a thin thread.

The word "boucle" is taken from the French language and translates as "curly." This word fully characterizes the structure of microfibers of boucle threads. From these, experienced needlewomen knit various scarves, head accessories, sweaters, as well as interior items in the form of bedspreads and pillows. You can even knit interesting toys for children. Let's take a closer look at this material.

To obtain a loose knitting, you need to use large tools in your work. Knitting needles work best because the possibility of missing a stitch is minimized. If you're crocheting, you can easily skip a column. This is because it is practically invisible in the previous strip.

Another point that needs to be taken into account when knitting from boucle yarn. In order not to get confused and not try to create a product “by eye”, get yourself a notebook with a pen. In it you need to record all your additions and decreases of stitches, the number of rows knitted. Otherwise, you may get lost, and then you will have to unravel the entire canvas. When unraveling, boucle yarn loses its fluffiness and attractiveness. This is why it is important to write down your every action.

Bouclé knitted products

When thinking about the appearance of the desired product, do not forget to take into account all the features of your own figure, as well as the time of year when you want to wear this clothing. It is impossible not to say that a boucle jacket or a knitted dress can visually increase your volume.

Knits made from warm fibers, such as wool and merino, will be appropriate in cardigans, autumn coats and transseasonal jackets. In winter, a knitted hat with a scarf and a pair of mittens will look great.

For summer clothes, thin bouclé yarn, which mainly consists of natural cotton, is suitable. Products made from such threads are suitable for women with a fragile figure, since bouclé with lumps will give them the volume they require. Tops and dresses can be knitted according to patterns, as experienced needlewomen do.

It is very easy to care for such bouclé clothes. Must be washed by hand in non-hot water. The clothes do not twist out, but are laid out on the surface until it dries completely. After the first wash, the yarn will become much softer and fluffier.

Advantages and disadvantages

Having studied this material to some extent, we can draw final conclusions about all the advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage is that the knitted product will be durable and elastic, and most importantly, that your favorite style of clothing will keep its original shape. If the bouclé is made from natural wool, then the product can have high thermal conductivity, which gives it another significant advantage. And of course, such a thread will be pleasant to the touch.

The minor disadvantages of bouclé yarn may not be obvious disadvantages, since they are associated only with its characteristics. For example, it is not recommended to use this material in machine knitting, since an uneven surface can stall the entire process for a long time or even make it difficult to complete it. The hook will also be very difficult to handle. Boucle clothing is perfect for slender women, but it is not suitable for those with curvy figures because it adds extra volume to the figure. Another drawback is the price. It is much more expensive than simple threads. To save at least a little, you should pay attention to domestically produced yarn. It is in no way inferior in quality to Western manufacturers, and its cost is lower.

After purchasing bouclé yarn, do not rush to throw away the label with the necessary information: about the length, thickness, brand and batch of the skein. Save it until you finish working on the product. If suddenly you don’t have enough material, you can calmly buy the one indicated on your label. Sometimes a situation may occur when the same skein number differs in color and structure from different manufacturers.

How to knit with bouclé yarn? Bouclé yarn... What is it and how to knit with such threads correctly? The word "boucle" translated from French means "curled", "curly" (remember elegant ladies' hairstyles with boucles). A thread of bouclé yarn consists of microfibers with decorative thickenings, loops or knots. Thanks to this, the fabric knitted from bouclé turns out lush, soft and very light. Craftswomen knit everything from boucle: scarves and hats (berets are especially beautiful), sweaters, coats, ponchos, cardigans, toys, interior items - pillows and bedspreads. Knitting from bouclé yarn requires patience and certain skills. But believe me, the result is worth it! How to knit from bouclé: five secrets that will help you succeed 1. Choosing a model When choosing a model for knitting from bouclé yarn, follow the principle “the simpler the better.” Discard any openwork and reliefs: they will still not be visible on the fluffy, loose fabric. Simple shapes are best - circles, rectangles with minimal decreases/increases. Please also note that a garment made from bouclé yarn will be very voluminous. To maintain the proportions of the figure, you may need to lengthen the pattern a little. 2. Selecting knitting needles and a hook For boucle yarn, large tools are suitable: after all, the fabric should be quite loose. Give preference to a hook or knitting needles from No. 3 and above, depending on the location of the thickenings on the thread. Knitting from bouclé is more convenient than crocheting. When knitting, the risk of “losing” a loop is minimal, but when crocheting, you can easily skip the stitches of the previous row - after all, they are almost invisible on the boucle fabric. During the knitting process, try to hook or knit the section of thread that is located between the “bulls” so that all the “fluffiness” remains outside and does not hide between the loops. 3. Select a pattern The optimal knitting for boucle thread is garter stitch (all stitches are purl) or knit stitch (a row of knit stitches, a row of purl stitches). Single crochets are suitable for the hook. Please note: when working with bouclé thread, the wrong side turns out to be fluffy (this applies to both knitting needles and crochet hooks). 4. Write everything down When planning to knit a product from bouclé with identical or symmetrical details, prepare not only yarn and tools, but also a notebook with a pen. Write down everything important: increases and decreases, number of rows. It will not be possible to calculate these things “by eye”, since the texture of the yarn hides all the rows and loops. When starting to work on the second (third, etc.) part, constantly check your notes. Better yet, knit several parts at the same time, from different skeins. With this approach, the chance of making a mistake will be minimal. 5. We take care correctly And now, finally, the work is finished. Be sure to wash the finished product - it will become softer. Wash carefully: only by hand, in cool water, without twisting or stretching. Dry flat at room temperature.

The model is made with crochet. You will need: 200 g each of white and blue wool yarn, as well as 250 g of gray melange bouclé thread; hook No. 3; 3 buttons; needle with a large eye.

To begin, make a high-quality working pattern with a set-in sleeve (Fig. 12), adjusting it to your measurements. Then knit the sample according to pattern 12 and use it to calculate the knitting of horizontal darts, side bevels, armhole contours and neckline. For the technique of making horizontal darts and sleeve piping, see diagrams_12_a and 12_b.

Tie the details of the shelves, back and sleeves with a mesh according to pattern_12 - a base of horizontal strips two rows wide. Alternate the color of the yarn in the following rhythm: * white, blue, gray, blue, white, gray, blue, gray *.

Don't forget to make holes on the right shelf for

buttons! Then pull vertical stripes through the cells (holes) with thread in two layers, alternating colors

yarn in the same rhythm as when knitting horizontal stripes. Pass the needle and thread of each color twice in a row: alternately above and below the chain loops between the double crochets, then again along the adjacent row without shifting. Connect the pieces along the sides and shoulders

seams. Sew the sleeves into the open armholes. Crochet around the perimeter of the product with a pattern according to pattern 12_in. Sew buttons to the left front.
