Who among us has not looked at wooden bracelets that are sold on the shelves of many souvenir shops in resort towns? Their cost is actually very low, and even a teenager can make the same for himself. There would be desire, patience and work.

The most suitable trees for bracelets are maple and acacia. Do you remember what juniper pillows smell like? Try to make it from juniper, delight yourself and your surroundings with a pleasant spruce scent.

You will need a piece of wood 25 cm long, 7 mm wide and 7 mm high. This block must be processed as shown in the figure, round the edges and give the shape that you like best. Then we cut the bar into 30 small ones, of which the bracelet will be folded: 7 * 7 * 30mm. Figure "a" shows the markings for the bars, and "b" the assembly of the bars into a bracelet.

The outer edge of the bracelet must be very carefully processed and rounded off, sanded with an emery cloth. Drill two 2mm diameter holes in each piece. If you use varnish, then we collect the bracelet only after the product dries. To assemble the bracelet, take two thin elastic bands and thread them through the holes, stringing our bars. At the end of the rubber bands we tie or sew with threads. And now you know!

The bracelet, cut from a single piece of wood, looks very original. It is not easy to create it with your own hands, since you will have to work a lot both on the design and on the search and processing of the material. Otherwise, the bracelet will be very fragile and will not last long. In this case, the wooden product will resemble a dragon's tail with all protruding spikes and characteristic notches.

Materials (edit)

To create a carved wood bracelet with your own hands, you will need:

  • walnut board;
  • compass;
  • markers;
  • drilling machine;
  • band-saw;
  • sandpaper;
  • joiner's glue;
  • wood burning tools;
  • varnish for wooden surfaces.

Step 1... Measure your wrist. This measurement will be the basis for the bracelet. The resulting diameter must be transferred to a wooden board using a compass, adding a couple more centimeters to the measurement so that you can later put the product on your hand without any problems.

Step 2... Transferring the inner diameter, draw the outer circle of the bracelet, reflecting in advance on the board all the protrusions for future spikes.

Step 3... Using a drilling machine or handcrafting tools, cut out the bracelet blank. Please note that in this case it was a piece of walnut that was taken, since the idea was to make the bracelet dark. You can give preference to a different type of wood.

Step 4... Now you need to work out the resulting blank for the bracelet in more detail. In this case, it is better to give preference to hand tools, since the work is painstaking. Markers will help you to outline all the cuts and the shape of the thorns. Try to make the braids interesting, but not too florid.

Step 5... Grind the resulting workpiece. Start with the coarse sanding attachments and work your way up to fine sanding or sanding paper.

Step 6... In this master class, during the grinding process, something happened that ideally should not have happened - the bracelet broke. But this is not scary, you can still fix it by adjusting the parts and gluing them together with wood glue. Make sure the glue is firmly in place and leave the bracelet alone overnight.

Step 7... Make distinctive notches on the bracelet and varnish the entire surface of the product. Apply the latter in a thin layer so that there are no drips.

Stylists note that wood jewelry is experiencing a rebirth in modern fashion. The first reason is the trends in the fashion industry, the second reason is the desire to wear original things made from natural materials, to be closer to nature. The tree, after being processed and acquiring a stylish design look, gives warmth, surprises with texture and an unusual look.

Pros and cons

Warm summer weather is a time of freedom, carelessness and the opportunity to experiment with your own image, trying on various types of jewelry. Wooden accessories can make your look trendy and memorable.

But like any jewelry, wooden bracelets have their own advantages and disadvantages.

The pluses of jewelry include:

  1. Organic. A massive tree looks harmoniously with light flying outfits, finding a balance between elements.
  2. Versatility. Wood bracelets can be dyed in any color, have many design solutions, so they will suit many clothes.
  3. Laconicism. Wood and ethnic style are indivisible concepts. Thanks to this tandem, it is easy to create a super-topical fashionable image, simple but bright.
  4. Focusing attention on details. A wide bracelet will perfectly emphasize the fragility and grace of the wrist.
  5. Compatibility with other accessories. A wooden bracelet is a self-sufficient decoration, but you can combine it with something else if you wish.
  6. Durability. Due to the lacquer coating, the bracelets will last a long time.
  7. Lightness and convenience. The material does not rub, does not bite into the skin, does not cling to clothing.
  8. Such a simple accessory - a bracelet made of wood, creates that very summer mood that encourages you to travel, walk until the morning, feel young and carefree.

The only drawbacks are that wooden decorations are not suitable for every style.... For example, they are unacceptable against the backdrop of tracksuits and office dress code.

Models

It's so good that designers are always trying to surprise fashionistas and pamper them with exclusive gizmos! Today you can find several models, interesting and stylish, combining the attractiveness of ethnicity and modern fashion trends.

From beads

The bracelets are laconic, but eye-catching. Beads can be different: large and small sizes, arbitrary shapes, intertwined with each other, shapes, separated by knots or other elements.

The most popular bead bracelet is Shambhala. Once it was a talisman of ancient tribes from evil forces, today it is a detail that is in great demand among young people.

Solid wood

A unique product that makes great jewelry. These bracelets are comfortable, practical and not subject to fashion trends. The solid wood accessory will complement an evening dress, an urban style look, an ethnic dress.

Sectional

They look fresh and not beaten. They can consist of wooden blocks of any geometric shapes - rectangles, ovals, squares, circles, or have an irregular intricate shape.

From wooden sticks

A unique piece of jewelry that you can create with your own hands. To do this, you need a medical wooden staple or an ordinary ice cream stick. The workpiece is soaked in water for a day so that it can bend. Then it is placed inside the glass so that it acquires a rounded shape, and left for a day. Then the most interesting thing begins - the endless possibilities for decorating the future fashionable bracelet.

Decor

Wood is an unpretentious material, it is easy for needlewomen to work with it in any technique. Therefore, in the manufacture of bracelets, a wooden blank is combined with many other materials.

Designers add inserts opposite in texture to the wood - metal, leather, stones (amber, coral), ceramics, pieces of fur, mother-of-pearl.

Epoxy resin allows you to bring different ideas to life, create flat and voluminous decorations.

Tree type

Craftsmen use a variety of tree species for bracelets. If we consider a tree from an esoteric point of view, as a talisman, you should pay attention to the following types of wood:

  • oak is a symbol of strength and will to win. Endows the owner with such qualities as endurance, courage, dedication;
  • birch protects the family hearth, harmonizes relations between partners;
  • tender pussy willow helps in education, profession and personal life;
  • aspen neutralizes negative energy;
  • mountain ash helps to find friends, become more sociable;
  • alder and sandalwood will protect you from the evil eye;
  • conifers give positive energy and peace of mind.

Care

Wooden jewelry does not require much maintenance. But do not expose them to mechanical force (pressing, squeezing), direct sunlight, cleaning chemicals.

The stylists have developed a short guide with tips to help you extend the life of your wooden jewelry:

  1. Store separately from sharp objects - knives, files, scissors.
  2. Observe the temperature and humidity conditions - fold away from batteries, do not leave in the bathroom.
  3. Use a padded container or box.
  4. Avoid contact with household chemicals, cosmetics, perfumes, alcoholic medical solutions, ink from pens.

What to wear with?

The list of clothes that wooden bracelets are paired with is small. But they look best with things made from natural materials - cotton, linen, wool.

To make unique jewelry, you only need to cut beautiful wood - and a few tools.

Glue the blank. Saw out squares 100X100 mm from thin boards (we took a cherry 6 mm thick). Glue them face to face, alternating the direction of the grain of each layer.

Determine the outer diameter. Glue the blank to the carrier board. When the glue is dry, attach the carrier board to the drill table. Then use the 83 mm hole saw to drill through the workpiece so that the teeth enter 3 mm into the carrier board. For best results, take your time to immerse the instrument in the material.

Now cut out the inner diameter. Without moving the carrier board, drill the second hole inside the first hole using a 70 mm hole saw.

Use the material effectively. You can make another small bracelet (perfect for a child) if you drill a third hole inside the first two holes using a 57mm hole saw.

Release the rings. Saw the workpiece with a band saw so that the bracelets are the same width. First saw off a thin layer from the outside of the workpiece. Then, with a second cut, separate the rings from the backing board.

Chamfers for convenience and beauty.

Saw out a 3 mm thick strip from the scrap and tape it next to the sander drum. Grind the chamfers on the inner surface by rotating the ring slowly and continuously at the same speed.

Check the result more often as you work. Do the same on the outside. Then sand the inside and outside of the bracelet by hand with N “320 grit sandpaper and apply a finishing coat.
