Mitten for washing bedridden patients. Fixing mitten for active patients. Means for moisturizing and nourishing the skin

The fixation mitten is intended for patients who:

  • take off diapers;
  • comb the bedsores;
  • May interfere with treatment by pulling out an IV or catheter
  • are prone to self-aggression.

The mitten is designed in such a way as to reliably and painlessly protect the patient from unconscious harm to himself. The mitten does not restrict the movement of the fingers inside and does not interfere with the circulation of blood in the hands. Its upper and lower parts contain expanded polystyrene beads. The use of such a filler has an additional calming effect - the patient can squeeze and roll them indefinitely.

Peculiarities:

  • The fastex fastener, which fixes the mitten on the wrist, is located on the back of the hand, which makes it impossible to unbutton yourself (in contrast to the Velcro, which the patient, with sufficient activity, can unfasten with his teeth);
  • The material of the mitten is dense 100% cotton, thanks to which the mitten allows air to pass through and the hand inside does not melt;
  • Suitable for the hand of any size of an adult, while the length of the fastener is adjustable to the desired girth;
  • The lower part of the cuff is additionally sealed with a soft material to exclude the compression of blood vessels;
  • Filler - expanded polystyrene, has antibacterial properties, because it does not contain organic impurities and bacteria, fungi do not grow in it, it is not subject to rotting and insect attack.

Indications for use:

  • If there is a risk of disruption of treatment (for example, pulling out IVs and catheters);
  • When the patient tries to remove the sensors of the connected equipment;
  • If the patient injures himself - scratching, scratching the skin, bedsores, itchy areas;
  • When the patient resists the use of hygiene products (diapers, absorbent panties).

Contraindications for use:

  • Do not use if there are dislocations, fractures or damage to the skin on the affected limb;
  • Do not use on patients prone to aggressive, agitated or suicidal conditions.

Adverse reactions: serious emotional, psychological, or physical problems can occur if the mitten is uncomfortable for the patient or if it severely restricts movement.

Instructions for use:

  1. Check that the mittens are not damaged before use.
  2. Insert the patient's hand into the mitten, palm down (the lower part contains more filler).
  3. Fasten the buckle and adjust the length of the strap to fit your wrist.
  4. Use your finger to check the location of the mitten (on the inside of the patient's wrist). The strap should be tight enough, but not overtighten the wrist, so as not to interfere with blood circulation. If the mitten is too loose, the patient can remove his hand from it and hurt himself.
  5. Ensure that the patient is monitored regularly while wearing restraint mittens, including:
  • Do not allow patients to bite mittens, swallowed Styrofoam balls can be dangerous;
  • Make sure the patient is in bed while wearing mittens. When moving around in mittens, there is a risk of falling and getting injured.

Attention! When ordering a fixation product, you independently assess the patient's activity and make a choice. The store is not responsible for damage to goods by patients during use.

Please note, the price is for 1 piece. (not for a couple).

Abena Shampoo Cap for shampooing and conditioner without water

The skin protects the body from pathogens and helps the subject regulate the temperature. But only clean skin! If you do not regularly wash off dead cells, sweat and dust particles from the skin, then it ceases to perform its protective function and itself becomes a source of problems.

This is especially true for people who are bedridden. First, they are constantly in an unnatural horizontal position that impairs blood circulation. Second, bedridden patients often suffer from urinary and fecal incontinence, which contributes to irritation and pressure sores. Therefore, the hygiene of a lying patient should be performed regularly and with the help of special means.

Why regular soap is not suitable

The skin of bedridden patients is sensitive and usually dry (especially in the elderly). Therefore, it is very important that the lying patient is washed as gently as possible. Ordinary soap dries the skin, disrupts the acid-base balance and normal microflora. This negatively affects the stratum corneum, which has a protective function.

The lather should be thoroughly washed off with water, and then the body should be wiped dry, but wiping can cause discomfort in the patient. And if the soap is not completely washed off, it is deposited on the skin in the form of calcium and magnesium salts, causing itching and irritation. Therefore, washing a bed patient is best done with the help of hospital hygiene products.

Specially formulated products for washing a bed patient, which do not contain alcohol, have a neutral pH level (5.5), maintain the skin's oil balance, soften and soothe it. In addition, cosmetic products for the care of the skin of a bed patient practically do not smell and do not contain substances that can cause allergies.

What is the difference between washing bedridden patients from regular hygiene

The hygiene of a bed patient consists of three stages:

  • Gentle skin cleansing
  • Moisturizing the skin
  • Skin protection and nutrition

If you simply cleanse your skin without using protective and moisturizing products, there is a high risk of irritation, especially if the patient is incontinent.

Since it is not always possible to bathe a bed patient in a bath (and sometimes it is simply impossible), special detergents are used for skin care that do not require rinsing with water.

Types of means for washing bedridden patients

All skin care products for a bed patient are divided into three broad categories according to the stage of the hygiene procedure:

  • Skin cleansers (foaming gloves and sponges, washing creams, gels, washing foams, cleansing lotions, wet wipes, shampoos without water, caps for washing your hair without water)
  • Skin protection products (creams, tonics, sprays)
  • Means for moisturizing and nourishing the skin (oils, lotions, creams)

Means for cleansing the skin of a bed patient

Foaming gloves and sponges impregnated with a cleansing gel, which, when moistened with water, whips into a foam. Usually one glove (sponge) is enough to completely wash an adult. In this case, you do not need to wash your body with water, just pat it dry with a dry towel.

Detergent creams cleanses, moisturizes and protects the skin (3 in 1). Suitable even for sensitive skin and crotch treatment.

Foams and gels for body care cleanses and refreshes the skin, relieves irritation, neutralizes urine and feces odors, has an antibacterial effect, is applied and removed with a damp cloth, does not require rinsing with water, does not stain the bed.

Cleansing lotions contain extracts of medicinal plants, gently cleanse and moisturize the skin, have an antibacterial effect, reduce diaper rash. Available in vials and aerosols. Aerosolized lotions are used to cleanse hard-to-reach areas.

Wet wipes are used to cleanse the patient's skin and to apply other products to the skin (foams, creams, etc.). They are made of soft non-woven fabric impregnated with healing components. Alcohol free and pH neutral. They are produced both for the treatment of the whole body and for intimate hygiene.

Shampoo without water ready to use, no rinsing or rinsing required. The shampoo is simply applied to the hair and towel-dried. Even if a little shampoo remains on your hair, it will not affect its condition in any way and will not cause irritation.

Caps for shampooing without water is a shampoo conditioner 2 and 1, available in the form of a cap. The cap should be put on the patient's head and massaged with light movements, then removed and dried with a dry towel.

Skin protection products

Protective cream creates the thinnest film that protects the skin under the diaper from irritating urine and feces. Helps prevent pressure sores and neutralizes odor.

Protective tonic has an antiseptic effect, improves blood circulation. Typically contains menthol, which has a cooling effect. Helps prevent pressure sores.

Protective spray (skin protector) intended for intensive protection of the skin of a bed patient under a diaper. Forms a protective film on the skin that is active for 6 hours. The film prevents urine and feces from irritating the skin.

Means for moisturizing and nourishing the skin

Moisturizing oils soothe, soften dry skin, protect it from dehydration, reduce flaking and irritation, and have an antiseptic effect.

Nourishing lotions are designed to moisturize, nourish and soften dry, irritated and sensitive skin. They have a long lasting effect.

Moisturizers return moisture to dry and irritated skin, restore its elasticity, nourish, relieve irritation, itching and flaking, do not leave a greasy film.

Prevention of pressure sores

Also an important part of bedside care. To combat existing ones and to prevent the occurrence of pressure ulcers, it is recommended to use special anti-decubitus mattresses. You can find out detailed information on the selection of such mattresses from.

Proper patient care requires strict hygiene standards. For this, it is better to use special disposable hygiene products, which reduce the risk of spreading infection and greatly facilitate care. We recommend using disposable towels and gloves for hygiene procedures, disposable bibs to protect the patient's clothing during feeding.
