Autumn crafts from leaves (dry) for children. DIY autumn leaves (3 ways)

Autumn inspires a desire to capture the play of colors not only in memory, but also in the house, where on long winter evenings one can see, touch, breathe in such a beautiful charm with a slight touch of bitterness of autumn.

You can decorate your house, succumbing to the impulse inspired by the autumn landscapes, simply and unpretentiously by typing multi-colored maple leaves in the nearest park and placing them one by one throughout the apartment (using tall narrow glasses or vases) or in armfuls, like flaming bouquets.

But with a small amount of time and a minimum of effort, you can build real works of art from them, which will delight the eye for a long time and will serve as a real decoration of your home.

Maple Leaf Pendants & Garlands

You need to take two or three leaves, preferably of different sizes, cover them with transparent varnish or lower them in paraffin melted in a water bath, and then tie them together with a thread that can be decorated with beads to match the leaves and, having made a loop out of it, hang them, for example, under the ceiling of the children's room.

You can complicate the task by collecting leaves processed in a similar way in a garland. From which it is easy to construct an intricate pattern by fixing it on the wall, either around a picturesque branch set in a vase, or placing it in a high-hanging pot of flowers to let it hang freely along the wall. If you combine several of these garlands, then a bright curtain will come out on the window.

Maple Leaf Wreaths

Also a popular fall craft is maple wreaths. You can as simply weave a wreath of leaves, as in the summer weaved from flowers, or make something more intricate. In this case, the wreath is made from birch or other branches, and leaves, acorns, ribbons, cones and other gifts of nature are used to decorate it.

Decorating candles and candlesticks with leaves

Leaves dried under a press or iron can be pasted over a glass jar, covered with transparent varnish for decoupage, and a candle can be placed inside. You will get an original lamp that can decorate any romantic evening. Thick candles are decorated in the same way - the leaves are simply glued or tied to their surface. It looks very unusual, especially if you use candles of light, dim colors.

Roses and bouquets of maple leaves

Roses made from maple leaves deserve a separate theme, from which you can collect not only bouquets, but also tie them into wreaths, decorate wickerwork with them, and lovers of vintage style can easily fit such decorations into their interior by covering flowers from maple leaves with gold or silver paint.

It is very easy to make roses from maple leaves, which are then assembled into one large bouquet. These flowers will delight you all winter. Plus it's an interesting idea for a little girl surprise from a guy. These roses are made elementary - just fold the maple leaves and wrap them on the blank. Do not forget to bend the edges, like a real rose. Here is a detailed step-by-step master class on making a rose from maple leaves and a bouquet of them:

And here are some more craft ideas - from these roses. After all, you can make a topiary of them, about which you read below, a wreath, decorate pictures and much more, and even bouquets of dry leaves can be quite diverse:

September and October are not only "golden autumn", but also the time to make crafts from dry leaves. For children, this activity turns into real entertainment. After all, using various gifts of autumn, you can create applications on various topics. Most often, children prefer crafts in the form of various animals - mice, squirrels, birds, deer, etc., as well as autumn pictures showing yellowed trees, dry grass and the last sunny days. However, this is only a small part of what can be made from dry leaves.

Preparation of flowers and leaves for applications

Dry flowers and trees can be made not only in autumn, but at any other time of the year. The main thing is to think about it in advance and "stock up" on the necessary natural materials. It is worth noting that you can start collecting flowers for crafts and appliques even in summer, when they are completely green. Then you will have more opportunities to create exactly the image that you desire. Leaves must be collected from a wide variety of trees and bushes - birch, mountain ash, oak, viburnum, willow, ash, cherry, apple, maple and much more. By the way, maple fruits, the so-called helicopters, can also be useful for autumn crafts.

In order to be able to make from dry leaves, the material must be prepared in a certain way. So, if you have enough time, then it is best to use the old method of drying sheets - insert them between the pages of a thick book and leave for several days or weeks. If the craft is planned to be made on the same day when the materials are collected, then the simplest method of drying is to iron the leaves inserted between two newspaper pages with an iron. After that, they become dry, however, a little brittle, so you need to handle such material carefully.

Preparation of materials for work

The gifts of autumn are not the only thing that is needed in order to make interesting crafts from (dry) leaves. For children, it is necessary to equip a comfortable one, as well as purchase a number of other materials that may be needed in the course of work. For example, cardboard, colored paper, glue, pencil, scissors, thread, brushes, tape tape, colored markers or markers. You may also need toothpicks or wire.

It is most convenient to glue the necessary elements with an electric hot gun. However, if it is assumed that the child will do everything without the help of an adult, then it is safer to buy him regular PVA glue.

Maple leaf rose bouquet

If you want to make crafts from dry, but plastic, then a bouquet of roses can be an excellent option. First you need to make the middle for the future flower. To do this, fold a large beautiful sheet across the central vein in half and twist it into a tube. Then the rest of the petals will fit around the resulting center.

In the center of the leaf, it is necessary to lay the core made earlier so that the front side of the future rose petal is inside. Then we bend the leaf outward from the middle. It is important that this bend passes 1.5-2 cm above the core. Next, the side edges of the folded sheet should be wrapped around the middle. Subsequent rose petals are made in the same way as the first. Remember that each maple leaf should be opposite the previous one.

When the desired density of the rose flower is reached, so that the bud does not crumble, it is necessary to tightly tighten all the leaves at the base with a thread. In the same way, you can make as many roses as you need for a beautiful bouquet. Finished flowers should be collected together and decorated with bright colors, you can also add a sprig of viburnum or mountain ash to the composition.

Birds made of leaves

Birds are another interesting option for craft from leaves (dry). For children, the process of making such a creation will be a real holiday. Using the dry leaves of various trees, you can make any kind of bird. The simplest and at the same time interesting application is a bird sitting on a branch. To make it, you will need two ash leaves of different sizes, one birch, two mountain ash and a small twig.

First, we glue a branch to the cardboard on which the future bird will sit. We fasten the body a little higher - a large ash leaf, and glue the birch leaf to it, turning the rounded end forward. A tail is made of two long leaves, and a wing is made of a small ash tree. The eye and beak can be painted with black paint, a marker, or cut out of cardboard and glued in place.

Leaf frames

What child does not dream of having photographs or homemade pictures in an original frame decorate his nursery? And if we are talking about a do-it-yourself frame, then placing it on a work table or bedside table is doubly pleasant. It is worth noting that the manufacture of such a decorative element does not require any special skills, only cardboard, leaves, glue and a little time are needed.

A cardboard template is the first thing you need to make such a craft from leaves (dry). It will not be difficult for children to independently come up with a design for their frame. To make it, you will need to cut out two squares, one of which must be left intact, and in the second, make a hole inside so that it corresponds to the area of the photograph or picture that is planned to be placed inside. Next, you need to glue these two blanks, having previously installed a photo between them.

It remains to decorate the frame with dry leaves and other elements. To do this, they need to be dipped in hot water and, greased with glue, attached to cardboard. It is recommended to wrap the edges of the leaves on the opposite side of the frame. In the course of work, it is important to smooth out all the elements, giving them the most even surface. When the craft is complete, you need to press down on it with a stack of books for better adhesion. The finished frame can be installed in any corner of the room, it all depends on the child's wishes.

Helicopter - Autumn Leaves Applique

All the boys really enjoy making various vehicles. It can be plasticine cars, designer trains, origami airplanes, colored paper ships, and so on. However, there is one more craft that children may not even know about. This is a helicopter made of dry leaves. For its manufacture, you will need leaves of various sizes and shapes.

In the center of the cardboard sheet, you need to glue a large pear-shaped sheet, which will become the body of the helicopter. To make the front of the base, you need to give the sheet a rounded shape using scissors. Next, the propeller and tail of the helicopter should be made from narrow long leaves by gluing them to the appropriate places. One application can depict several helicopters of different sizes. Such children's crafts made from dry leaves will certainly interest any boy, and soon he will make a new vehicle, showing his own imagination.

Leaf animals

All of the same materials, but different in shape and size, can make various charming crafts. From dry leaves, applique can be done in several ways - using whole sheets, cut out figures, or by overlaying them on top of each other in several layers.

Having collected a large collection of leaves, you can try to make an unusual exotic animal. However, the most simple figures are: mice, squirrels, turtles, moose, cats and so on. So, to make a mouse, you need to stick an oblong leaf on the cardboard - this will be the body, for the head you need to use a sheet that is as close as possible in shape to the circle, and the legs and ears should be made from very small maple fruits. In a similar way, you can depict any animal on cardboard by selecting leaves of the appropriate shapes for certain parts of the body. For example, for the horns of an elk and the tail, squirrels are suitable for the tail of a cat and the ears of a donkey - mountain ash or willow, for the head of a mouse - birch, etc. The main thing is not to be afraid to show your imagination, and then everything will work out!

Herbarium

It is better to collect leaves for a herbarium in dry weather, since wet leaves require additional processing. Each detail of the herbarium must be straightened with a cold iron, before that, carefully remove all the creases of the leaf.

If there is constant dampness outside and there is no time to wait for dry weather, then they should be given the opportunity to dry on their own. After the leaves are dry, they are ironed with a warm iron, placing them between two sheets of paper. You do not need to press on the leaves with an iron, you just need to press a little so as not to flatten them.

The prepared elements are placed on a sheet of paper, which will serve as a background and at the same time a frame. The leaves are fixed with thread or glue.

Flower bouquet / rose

In order to get neat and beautiful flowers, the leaves must be even and clean. Place the piece of paper directly in front of you, fold it in half. Then you need to twist half of the leaf into a tube, but do not twist it very tightly, the flower should be voluminous.

It turned out the core of the flower, we make the petals from the rest of the leaves. In the second maple leaf he inserts the core. In turn, wraps the edges of the leaf so that the petals are obtained. The sheet can be fixed with a thread so that it does not disintegrate later.

Note!

To make the flower voluminous, you should twist at least six or seven maple leaves in this way, each of which is fixed with a thread. To create a bouquet, you need several of these flowers.

Vase

  • Leaves of different colors;
  • An ordinary balloon.

It is necessary to inflate the balloon to the desired vase size. Take glue, diluted half and half with water. Lubricate one half of the ball with glue.

Each sheet must be properly glued and lubricated on top with another layer of mortar so that the top layers of the sheets hold just as well. When you have glued the top layer, then it should also be greased with glue.

After that, remove the ball for several days until it solidifies completely. When our fake is completely dry, you will need to burst the balloon. A vase made of leaves is suitable for use. Making such work is not difficult, but very interesting, so it is good to do it together with children.
