Externally, white clay (kaolin) is a grayish-yellowish powder. In skin care, it is used mainly in the compositions of ready-made and homemade face masks, which perfectly cleanse the skin, absorbing excess secretion of the sebaceous glands and normalizing their work, absorb toxins, tighten pores, dry out minor inflammations, pimples, relieve irritation, improve facial contour, tightening skin, and also lighten pigmented areas (freckles, age spots). Rules for the preparation and use of white clay face masks

  1. Masks and other compositions with white clay are best prepared in glass or ceramic dishes, metal is not suitable, since some of the minerals contained in the clay react with the metal, as a result of which it loses its properties.
  2. It is important to dilute white clay with cooled boiled water until a consistency resembling sour cream is obtained.
  3. Like any mask, it is effective to apply a clay mask on pre-cleansed skin, avoiding the area around the eyes.
  4. It is important to apply the mask immediately after preparing the composition, otherwise it will harden due to evaporation of moisture.
  5. In the presence of severe irritations on the face, a clay mask is contraindicated.

To date, white clay is part of many cosmetics, and its absorbent properties allow you to take the mineral inside in case of poisoning.

What is white clay

It is a soft, crystallized powder that is used as the main cosmetic component for the manufacture of scrubs, face masks, soaps, deodorants. The white mineral is named after Mount Kao-ling in China, where the substance was first discovered. Hence the name - Chinese or kaolin clay. Also, large mineral deposits are located in the United States, Brazil, Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine.

Compound

White kaolinite is the main component of clay. Its chemical structure consists of alumina (39.8%), silica (46.3%) and other impurities (13.9%). The mineral is a hydrous aluminum silicate obtained by chemical weathering of feldspar and decomposition of aluminosilicate rocks. It is a soft white substance that is used in many areas.

The chemical name for kaolin is hydrosulfate phyllosilicate. Clay is inert (does not react with other elements) and practically does not dissolve in water. It forms a suspension with weak alkaline properties. The white sedimentary rock has a pH level of approximately 7.0, so it does not harm the skin. However, kaolin can transform and change properties at extreme temperatures (above 500°C). The composition of white clay includes:

  • silicon;
  • aluminium oxide;
  • calcium;

Even in ancient times, women valued white clay (kaolin) for its excellent properties: skin cleansing, elasticity, the ability to treat various diseases ... Today, white clay has not lost its popularity. It is considered one of the best, because it gently affects the skin without irritating it ... The use of kaolin is truly amazing: it is used to make masks for the skin; wash their hair for medicinal purposes; brush their teeth; make powders, ointments, compresses from it; even ingested...

Characteristics: color - white, pH - 6.0

Typical mineral content: total kaolinite-97%, silicon oxide-46%, aluminum oxide-37%, iron oxide 0.79%, titanium oxide-0.37%.

Useful and healing properties

- Like any clay, white is an adsorbent and is able to draw substances harmful to humans from the skin, thereby cleansing it. Kaolin absorbs toxic substances from the lymph, blood, through the skin, which adversely affects the body. For example, during inflammation, it draws in decay products and thereby helps to quickly cope with the disease. It is worth noting that white clay does not heal, but only helps! Therefore, it is well suited for complex treatment.

It consists of extremely small particles, due to which it is able to absorb the waste products of the cells of the body. Absorbs poisons, gases, toxins and even radionuclides from the gastrointestinal tract before they have time to be absorbed into the bloodstream. Therefore, it is it that is still used for serious intoxications. No worse than modern antibiotics, kaolin copes with pathogenic bacteria, it “absorbs” viruses, fungi and other microorganisms. But, unlike drugs, the clay itself remains chemically inert, and therefore absolutely harmless to the body. And while artificial antiseptics kill both pathogenic bacteria and healthy cells, kaolin eliminates only harmful microbes and toxins, renewing cells and developing immunity in the body. It does no harm, you can not be afraid of its overdose - the body will absorb exactly as many useful substances as it needs.

  • Contains oxides of silicon, aluminum, mineral salts, trace elements (zinc, silica, nitrogen, calcium, magnesium, potassium).
  • Perfectly cleanses the skin. It absorbs all the oil from the skin and thereby cleanses the pores from pollution.

head masks

As mentioned above, white clay masks help to cope with oily, dry and brittle hair, as well as seborrhea and dandruff. You can apply masks, both in their pure form, diluting white clay with water, or use other ingredients. For example, if you have oily hair, you can dilute with apple cider vinegar (after diluting it with water 1:5 or 1:10), or use non-fat milk, you can even sour.

Compresses

Everything is simple here. Warm up the clay. Make a cake out of it, that is, a mass that does not spread and apply a compress to the sore spot. Do not use compresses for inflammation! Throw away after use!

It is important to remember that for therapeutic, prophylactic purposes, white clay should be bought ONLY in a pharmacy. What you dug up in nature may not be. In addition, in order to use clay for medicinal purposes, it must be very well purified from harmful impurities. And remember that white it does not heal by itself, it helps with complex treatment.
