If we only weave knots in one direction, we get a twisted chain. This technique is commonly used when weaving hanging planters.

The reps knot can be either horizontal or vertical. The horizontal one is formed on four strands as shown in the photo.

After that, all the threads are collected with a reps knot into one bundle, the excess ends are trimmed.

To do this, you need to take two threads. Divide one of them in half and put it in the middle of the second thread with a simple fastening.

The warp threads are lowered to the center and two rep knots are woven. Further, with one rep knot, the warp threads are woven.

Two new threads are taken and the middle is pinned to the pillow along the edges from the first. Two rep nodes are formed on both sides.

One end is taken out of service. In the center of the product, the right warp thread is woven onto the left strand. The extreme threads on both sides are woven into braids, crossing in the middle.

The additional two threads are rejoined according to the same principle as the previous ones. Two more rows of reps nodes are formed.

To begin with, I suggest you weave a simple macrame bracelet.

It is necessary: 2 twine, 1 - 1.4 m each.

1. Fold 2 ropes together, back off from the edge a distance equal to the planned length of the bracelet + 10 cm of reserve for knots. At the designated point, tie the strings to form a small loop (fastener). Check again if the length is sufficient.

2. Use a pin to secure the threads to the pillow. Put the short ends in the middle - this is the base, on the sides along the long end - working threads (they tie the knots).

How do I prepare the thread?

Sometimes the threads are so long that they bring a lot of inconvenience to the process. Then they are wound on something like a coil and attached to the base. The most basic elements of the macrame technique are right-sided and left-sided flat knots, as well as a square knot, which is a sequential execution of the two previous ones. Such a knot was used by sailors to decorate something. For example, knife handles. Also, twisted and knot chains can be attributed to the basic elements.

Square knot

Secure two threads on the base so that you get four free edges. Take the thread on the far right, pass it over the two central ones and wind it under the left one. Then we stretch the one on the left under the central ones. We withdraw into the hole that formed between the right and central threads. The left should lie on top of the right. Now the thread that turned out to be on the right is drawn under the central ones and over the one that turned out to be on the left. The left one is laid on the central ones, after which it is drawn into the hole on the other side, under the right thread. Thus, a knot is obtained, called a square, with which you can weave a chain, and if you use only half of the knot, then your chain will twist.

Materials for a bracelet made using macrame technique

Let's consider how very simple it is to create bracelets for beginner needlewomen using the macrame technique. For our decoration we need a cord with a diameter of one millimeter, several beads with a hole about two millimeters in diameter, one large bead - about 1 cm in diameter. To correctly calculate how much cord we need, we need to decide how many centimeters the finished product will be in length, as well as how much is needed to tie the knots. To find out how much cord is needed to work, you need to add the length of the bracelet and the amount of material spent tying the knots, and multiply the result by 10.

Consider also the fact that the more beads you use, the less material you will need, and vice versa. You will also need a piece of cord to create the fastener. Taking this information into account, we determine that for the central part we need a piece with a length of 48 cm, and for the side parts - 175 cm.For the fastener - 25 cm.

Bracelet weaving instructions

Of the tools, you need scissors or nippers, tape for securing medium threads, and a folder with a clip to fix all the work. Anyway, such a design will allow you to move anywhere with your work.

Take the two main cords (48cm and 175cm) and line up the midpoints. At the same time, put the loop of the shorter one inside the loop of the long one. Now define the midpoint of the 25cm segment and fold it in half.

Pass the loop of this section through the loop formed by the two previous cords and bring the free ends of your future fastener through it. Secure this whole structure to a clip folder and tape the ends of the middle cord. This will greatly add convenience to your work. Pre-determine how many knots will be located at the beginning, at the end and between the beads, and also choose the degree of tightening for yourself and try to perform it the same way. Otherwise, your bracelet will be uneven. Make several knots, then put on a bead and then alternate knots and beads in the order in which you intended. After putting on the last bead, weave as many knots as you did at the beginning. Now slide a large bead over all four cords. Don't forget to pre-try on the bracelet on your wrist. Tie a knot, cut the thread, and add a drop of glue for strength.

Making a clasp

Try on the bracelet again. This time you need to decide on the length of the fastener. Tie a knot on the section of the cord set aside for fastening the bracelet. To make the clasp adjustable, step back about 1.5 cm from the knot and tie another one. Cut the cord and secure with glue.

The next step is to create the suspension elements. Divide the entire bundle into three groups of cords. Each of them should consist of four ropes. Using one of the options for a flat knot, weave a twisted chain. Each of the three chains should be 70 cm long.

It remains to make a basket for the pot. We take two threads from adjacent chains and weave 2-4 square knots on them at a distance of 9 cm from the edge of the suspension elements. Then we take two more threads from the next ones and repeat everything. And so we continue weaving in a circle and down until the size of the height of the basket is suitable for your pot, which is supposed to be put there. When the desired size is reached, again collect all the cords in a bundle and wrap them together. Leave a small brush for beauty and cut off all unnecessary.

The number of threads must always be paired.
Any work begins with hanging the threads on the "carrier thread", which is pinned to the pillow.
There are two ways to hang the threads:
1. The thread must be folded in half, put on the carrier thread, then bend over it. Thread the loose ends of the thread into the loop and tighten.


2. We also fold the thread in half, put it under the carrier thread and bend the loop towards ourselves. Thread the ends of the thread into the loop and tighten.

Breeds
The principle is simple: weaving around one thread of all the other threads in double knots is called a brida. The extreme thread (right or left) is called nodular.

Braid:
In many works, you may need to beautifully finish the weaving of the product and collect the threads in a bun. And here the braid can come to the rescue.
