Comb long hair after washing. How to brush tightly tangled hair. How to fix tangled hair

If your hair is hopelessly tangled, try a deep conditioner or moisturizing oil before getting a short cut. Leave these products on your hair for an hour or even overnight, and tangled strands will be much easier to detangle. Even if combing all of her hair is very difficult, at least it no longer causes such severe pain, and the result will be much better than if you did not use these tools at all.

Steps

Part 1

Hair products

    Choose a hair product. For a start, you should try a regular conditioner, if you have not done this before, but when your hair is too tangled, you will have to look for other ways. A regular deep-action conditioner perfectly compensates for the lack of moisture in the hair structure and facilitates the combing process, but there are special conditioners for detangling hair that make the hairs absolutely smooth. Coconut oil, olive oil, or argan oil can be used instead, especially if the curls are curly. If you don't like the feel of your hair after using oils, try using a brushing spray.

    • Some people use mayonnaise. But not only does it very often become the cause of an unpleasant odor, but also in itself is not very effective in comparison with other means.
  1. Moisten hair slightly with water. Moisten hair with water from a spray bottle, or briefly place your head under a shower head or low-pressure water jet. Most hair products need to be applied to damp hair, but do not over-wet your hair as this will cause brittleness.

    Massage the product into your hair. Pour a small amount into the palm of your hand, or use a double dose if your hair is below the shoulders. It is necessary to apply the product over the entire length, including the ends. Do not rub it into the scalp, but into each strand of hair separately, otherwise the hair will become even more tangled.

    Wait for the product to absorb into your hair. A regular conditioner will moisturize your hair in a few minutes. For maximum effect, coconut oil and similar products should be left on the hair for at least 30 minutes, but not more than 2 hours. In the process of working with deep conditioners, you must follow the instructions on the package, since all products work in different ways, but they are usually left on the hair for at least an hour, and if necessary, even overnight.

    • To keep your hair neat and out of your eyes, put on a shower cap or plastic bag and tie it with an elastic band. Alternatively, you can wear a tight-fitting hat over cellophane to speed up the process.
  2. Use your fingers to detangle the simplest knots in your hair. Once the product has been absorbed, try to gently detangle the strands of hair. Small nodules or loose strands are sometimes intertwined with other nodules at the roots closer to the scalp.

    • Miracles do not happen, and at this stage you will not be able to get rid of all the knots. When faced with a problem, move on to another site.

    Part 2

    Combing
    1. Use a wide-toothed comb. A comb with large, widely spaced teeth is vital for detangling heavily matted hair. The fine-toothed combs and brushes are then subject to great resistance, which leads to hair breakage and makes it difficult to comb.

      • The teeth on the comb should not be too sparse, otherwise they will miss small knots.
    2. Comb the ends first. Always start combing matted hair from the ends. Step back a few centimeters from the ends of the matted hair and brush downward. Repeat the procedure until this part of the hair is free of all tangles, and then move the comb a little higher. Repeat the procedure until you have combed the entire length of your hair. It can take an hour or more if you have long or thick, highly matted hair.

      Raise your hair as high as possible to reduce pain. If you have a sensitive scalp, hold a section of hair in your hands while brushing. Take a section as thick as a marker or glue stick between your fingers and make an incomplete loop so that the comb does not pull hair from the hair itself. Comb through this section of hair and work upward after you unravel all the knots on this section.

      Apply extra conditioner or oil as needed. Add a little conditioner or oil to tangle-free mats and rub in with your finger. This will reduce the clumping of the hairs together.

      Use scissors to trim stubborn matted hairs. A clump of matted hair should be thinned out if, despite your best efforts, it does not want to detangle. Open the tip of the scissors and hold your hair firmly with your other hand. Run your bottom scissor blade along the bottom of the matted strand, then gently pull on your hair to remove any cut hairs.

      • The best option to get rid of heavily tangled strands, if you do not want to waste time without any visible result on many hours of trying to untangle them, it is simply to cut them off.
    3. Finish the procedure by combing your hair with a fine-toothed comb or brush. Use a wide-toothed comb until absolutely all tangled strands are straightened. Then use a fine-toothed comb or brush to detangle small knots if any.

      Rinse your hair. Wash absolutely everything from your hair as soon as you detangle it. Divide and secure curly hair that has been able to detangle heavily matted strands just enough to be able to rinse each one separately.

I twist and twist, I want to untangle: how to untangle your hair yourself?

Hair that has turned into an unraveling mat is a nightmare come true for any owner of long curls. But wait to grab the scissors! We'll show you how to detangle even highly tangled hair at home easily and without loss!

Prevent the problem: what to do to keep your hair from tangling

The longer the hair, the faster it gets tangled. But not everyone knows that fine and dry hair is more prone to tangling, so if you want to minimize the problem, take care of your hair health. Take vitamins, avoid bad habits, do not overuse junk food and, of course, take care of your hair: cleanse, nourish and cut the split ends.

A surefire way to reduce tangles and make tangle free is hair conditioner, such as Matrix's R.A.W Nourish with coconut oil and white kaolin clay, designed specifically for dry hair that tends to tangle.

Also, your hair will need a remedy that will fight the electrification of the hair. For example, Kérastase Initialiste Serum, which protects hair and improves its structure.

How to detangle your hair: step by step instructions

So, it was not possible to avoid the problem, and when combing, you found a matted mat of hair on your head.

What to do? The answer will be given by our step-by-step instructions:

  1. Wash your hair with a shampoo appropriate for your hair type.
  2. Apply hair conditioner for three to four minutes, rinse with warm water. This will help remove residual hairspray and other styling products that make it difficult to detangle your hair.
  3. Care should be taken to keep them moist, but not wet.
  4. Part your hair into sections with your hands or a wooden wide-toothed comb.
  5. Start detangling your hair from the ends, gradually working towards the roots.
  6. If your hair is very tangled, then pull it out in small strands. This is a very time consuming but effective process.
  7. After you have detangled your hair, you can apply the mask on it for 20-30 minutes.

We have learned from stylists seven tricks they use when detangling their clients' hair:

  1. Extensions should only be detangled with your hands to avoid damaging the capsules with the comb. If you can't unravel your hair extensions on your own, you will have to contact a master at a beauty salon with this problem.
  2. To reduce pain when detangling your hair, hold the section you are working with with your hand. This will reduce the tension on the skin.
  3. If your hair is very long, braid it before going to bed to avoid tangling.
  4. When detangling your hair, you will need several combs: the finest-toothed comb, the finest-toothed comb, and the finest-toothed comb. So you will gradually work through the entire mass of hair and not miss a single knot!
  5. If you need to detangle hair tangled on a round comb, do so by pulling small strands off the edges of the comb. A fallback method is to pull out the teeth of the comb with pliers.
  6. Some forums on the Internet advise using mayonnaise to detangle your hair. We do not recommend this method: firstly, it is ineffective, and secondly, it is fraught with an unpleasant odor.
  7. Instead of balm when detangling hair, you can use folk remedies: coconut, olive or argan oils (the latter is especially effective on curly hair). But here, too, we do not advise you to tempt fate - matted hair should still be entrusted to professional formulations.

Which comb is suitable for detangling hair

If your hair is prone to tangling, you should be especially careful. Moreover, in your arsenal there should be not one, but several types.

We will tell you which combs will help to detangle your hair:

  • sparse-toothed comb you will need it to comb wet hair, you should also start unraveling the tangles with it;
  • fine-toothed comb will help to comb even small knots in the hair;
  • comb with fine handle necessary to remove small strands and individual hairs from the mat;
  • massage brush good for daily combing and head massage;
  • round brush (brushing) used to create volume and curls. But, alas, it is because of her that hair most often gets tangled during styling at home.

Professional hair detangler

Now let's move on to professional formulations that will help you detangle even heavily tangled hair!

The product with Pro-Keratin and ceramides, penetrating into the hair structure, strengthens them from the inside. As a result, they become smooth and manageable, which makes them easier to comb and prevents split ends.

A product with shea butter tames unruly hair, protects against moisture, and gives smoothness. Shea butter nourishes and adds incredible shine, while ceramides restore hair structure.

If your hair is very tangled, you should not immediately run to the salon and cut the entire length. There are some easy solutions for this problem!

Sometimes after washing, curling or evening hairstyle, the hair becomes very tangled, especially if it is long and thick. Brushing them seems impossible and very painful. But there are several ways to untangle the tangles without harming the curls.

Small tangled clump of hair

In this case, you can try to untangle the hair with your hands. It is necessary to carefully divide the curls into small strands with your fingers, and then draw a flat comb with rare teeth along the tips and gradually higher, to the roots. The tangled clump needs to be scattered a little with your fingers and pulled up a few hairs from it. You can't pull it down: you can pull it out with bulbs!

Severely tangled long hair

First, wash your head with shampoo without combing the strands. Tangling dry hair is strictly forbidden, otherwise you will pull it out by the roots or confuse it even more!

Then we apply a balm or mask to them. We withstand the product for 20 minutes.

Gently begin to separate the wet strands with a comb with sparse teeth or with our hands, starting from the ends and gradually rising to the root part, while holding the strand at the roots. However, wet hair is very fragile, so you need to take it apart slowly and do not pull it down! Ideally, you should lie on the sofa with your head hanging down, or sit in a chair with your head bent between your knees. But even if you stayed in a standing position, you need to tilt your head.

Having untangled all the knots and tangles, we lubricate the strands with a mask again and wait another 15 minutes. Rinse your hair with cool water.

Hair wrapped in a round comb or Velcro curlers

In this case, it is necessary to soak the strand wound on the brush in the balm and slowly rotate so as not to pull out the hairs. It is useful to sprinkle with oil before unwinding the koltun. At the end of the procedure, you need to smoothly comb the hair with a comb to get rid of the torn hairs.

Prophylaxis

If the problem of matted hair bothers you quite often, you may need to pay extra attention to the curls and adjust your daily routine:

  • Dry and brittle strands are prone to tangling, so regularly use masks, balms or conditioners to restore and improve hair structure.
  • Comb your hair throughout the day. To prevent the formation of knots, it is not enough to run a comb through the hair in the morning and in the evening. However, frequent brushing is also not worth abusing, hair can break, which will lead to the formation of split ends.
  • Braid or bun your hair. Do not leave them loose overnight, wear a cap when swimming in open water, pin your hair during sports.
  • Use a hairdryer as little as possible, it is better to dry your hair naturally.

Gently untangling the knot in your hair is quite possible at home, the main thing is not to get nervous, not to tear the strands with a comb and not to rush. If you have very long hair, the knot is large and you understand that you cannot cope on your own - go to a hairdresser or call a specialist at home. A professional will carefully disassemble your curls and keep them healthy.
