How to properly pack your suitcase on vacation without forgetting anything. Video instruction is attached. What to take on a trip. List of required items and fees

Prepare the sleigh in summer and the cart in winter. Let's not argue with the well-known saying and start prepare for the summer (and not only) vacation season right now. Indeed, in winter it is especially pleasant to think about the warm coast and the gentle sea, plan a trip and view photos of famous resorts. Have you ever forgotten to put an important thing in your suitcase? And does the process of packing your suitcase go smoothly for you? Today I want to talk about the suitcase issue and tell you how to quickly pack a suitcase and not forget anything.

At the end of the article, a flight attendant will share with you the experience of collecting suitcases. Imagine how often they have to pack their bags! And there will be a good video too 🙂

The basic principles that guide me before the trip, packing my suitcase:

  1. Nothing extra
  2. Everything should be easy
  3. And once again, nothing superfluous: having packed your suitcase, find in it a thing that you can do without on a trip.

How to properly pack a suitcase

In order to properly pack my suitcase and go on vacation with a light soul, I divide all things into the following categories:

To properly pack your suitcase for your trip, I make a list of things in these categories in advance. And I immediately note which things I have ready, and which ones need additional preparation for the trip. For example, if you buy new clothes before a trip, you need to have time to wash them. You also need to have time to charge the batteries of the camera and phone.

For documents and tickets I use an A5 transparent plastic folder. One glance is enough to once again make sure that everything is in place and not worry 🙂

I keep money in my wallet. Tips to hide money in the most secluded places - I have never come in handy. Maybe I was just lucky - no one has ever encroached on my hard-earned money. Or maybe I just don’t carry with me such amounts that should be carefully hidden.

Belt bags- also did not take root. In general, I take on a trip an ordinary bag with handles that can be thrown over my shoulder. Alternatively, I sometimes use backpack, but then you have to take a waist bag with you for documents and money.

How to pack a suitcase

Helpful advice: roll up all things with a roller, so they will fit more compactly in a suitcase and wrinkle less.

The sequence of packing things in a suitcase:

Shoes first - better on the edges of the suitcase

- trousers - at the bottom

- things are thicker - the second layer

- thin light things - the third layer

- toiletries, cosmetic bag - to the very top. There is a flight ahead and the suitcase is checked in as luggage - we place toiletries deep into the clothes so that nothing breaks or spills.

If you are flying by plane and check in your suitcase, then leave it with you: documents and money, first aid kit, camera, cosmetic bag (the smallest of all that you have), wet wipes and hand sanitizer. Well, a laptop or an e-book too.

We pack everything else in separate bags and then in large tight bags by category: clothes, shoes, hair dryer / iron, cosmetics. Firstly, it is easier to sort things, and secondly, things will not suffer if something suddenly spills on your suitcase from neighboring ones. We pack everything tightly in a suitcase. Don't stuff it to capacity. Properly packed suitcase you have to fasten yourself and quite easily. If you have to resort to the help of others, your tightly stuffed suitcase is in danger of bursting.

Then at least pack it at the airport - such a service is now available everywhere. Your suitcase is wrapped in several layers of cellophane, cuts are made for handles. This will protect your suitcase from external damage. But for such baggage packing at the airport time and money are wasted. And time is more important in this situation.

well and to make the suitcase lighter, I make a list in advance of what you can buy at the place of rest. Usually these are sunscreen and various things for relaxation: inflatable swimming equipment, a beach umbrella, and a beach mat. After the end of the holiday, I leave them on the beach, so that in a year I will return again 🙂

And here is a real stewardess packing her suitcase! I liked it very much. I do everything almost the same, only I have three times less things, and I put them in bags first.

And finally, video. At first I did not believe that a huge pile of things would fit in such a small suitcase. But how cleverly he did it! Handsome! 🙂

And also look at how they pack luggage at the airport, maybe it will come in handy. The whole art, however! And what kind of music 🙂

**** Above is a list of clothes that I took with me on a 25-day summer trip to Europe. We flew by plane to Prague, and from there we drove by car through Germany, Austria and Italy to the westernmost point of Sicily.

T-shirts and shorts never got out of the suitcase. She wore dresses all the time, sometimes she threw on a jacket in the evenings. Ballet shoes and sandals were not needed, I put on sneakers twice. Some slates in Italy were enough above the roof (both on the beach, and in a bar, and in a restaurant).

All of the items listed above, with proper packaging, will fit in hand luggage, but if you plan to fly low-cost airlines without luggage, then some items from the list will have to be abandoned. Their incomplete list is given below.

How to pack a suitcase on a plane (hand luggage)?

Toothpaste, deodorant and creams should be bought in packages up to 100 ml. Shampoo needs to be poured into a small jar or bought on the spot, shower gel can be bought upon arrival. All bubbles need to be put in one transparent bag with a zipper (I use bags from Serge underwear).

hand luggage are the things you take with you on the plane.
Baggage— what is rented in the luggage compartment. Large bags, 80-liter backpacks, suitcases that are larger than 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm and weigh more than 7-8 kg are luggage.

What can not be taken in hand luggage on a plane?

  • Scissors, files, manicure sets, knives, forks, screwdrivers, axes and other items that are cut and pricked. It is better to buy all this on the spot, then throw it away.
  • Liquid in tubes and bottles, the capacity of which exceeds 100 ml. Even if there are two drops of shampoo left in the bottle, but the bottle itself holds 150 ml, then you can’t take it in hand luggage
  • Flowers in pots (you can take a bouquet of fresh flowers)
  • Razor blade, if it is separate. Razors are not usually selected
  • Lighters (can match)
  • syringes
  • Weapons, drugs

How to pack things in a suitcase, life hacks:

  • To pack your suitcase compactly, roll things up as shown in the video. So clothes take up less space
  • Do not take voluminous wrinkled things
  • You can not take a hair dryer, especially if you live in the same hotel. More or less decent hotels have hair dryers.
  • Earth and flowers in pots cannot be transported, but if you really want to, you can wrap a flower with a pot in foil, put it in a box and hide it in a suitcase. When scanning, the foil is not translucent.
  • The lens solution I use is only available in 120 ml bottles. I erased the inscription "120 ml" and carry the solution in my hand luggage. No one has yet thought of taking the bottle away.
  • Do not put nail polish remover in a suitcase - it is likely that it will leak. It is difficult to get rid of the smell afterwards.
  • You can take some food in hand luggage. If you fly with low-cost airlines without meals, you can prepare food at home in advance in case of hellish hunger. A small bag of tomato juice, waffles, cookies, chocolate - all this can be brought on board and quite crunchy in the airplane seat to the envy of other passengers. Do not take sandwiches with sausage and lard - hungry customs officers can take it away.

If after reading this article and watching the video you have doubts about what you can take and how to properly pack your suitcase on vacation, please write them in the comments to the post so that other travelers can read the answers. I do not answer questions in contacts and facebooks.

Let your bags weigh no more than 7 kg! Sincerely,

At first glance, it may seem that packing luggage for a trip is a simple task. After all, here you usually have to tamp things for all occasions.

How to compactly fold things in a suitcase so that nothing is broken, wrinkled or spoiled during the move? Solving this problem is only part of the story. Ultimately, you need to organize your luggage in such a way that it can be easily torn off the ground.

I have already touched on this topic in posts and

But in the midst of the velvet season, I would like to finish this topic with tips on how to properly pack a suitcase at sea, because the comfort and success of your trip depends on it.

Packing suitcases for the sea: a list of necessary things

The best solution is to make a list of what you need, and then delete from it all the items that you doubt.
No matter how trite it sounds, but it is this simple (and a little tedious), at first glance, action that will allow you to quickly pack your things, not forget something very necessary and fit into the established baggage weight.

Sometimes this is very difficult to do. Scrolling through different scenarios of rest and all kinds of situations in my head, I have to add some things to the list more than once and cross them out again.
As a result, often, we leave a bunch of things on the list “just in case”.

When deciding what to take with you on vacation at sea, the first thing to add up is that you cannot categorically forget at home. This

  • Money. No more than 500-1000 $ or euro in cash, the rest on several cards
  • Documentation.: passports, driver's licenses, powers of attorney for children, etc.
Scan (or just take a photo) of your passport, driver's license, and other important documents.
First, print scans or make a photocopy. Second, save the scans to your tablet or smartphone and email them to yourself. If you lose your passport, you will quickly prove to the police and the consulate that you are you.
It is better to walk around a foreign city with a copy of your passport, and lock the original in a hotel safe.

  • Transport tickets and accommodation documents/hotel vouchers, Plane tickets, hotel booking confirmations/hotel vouchers are also useful to keep on your smartphone - so that they are at hand even when there is no Internet.
Save screenshots with maps of the right places (how to get from the station to the hotel, find the museum, etc.) - then you will have a route even without the Internet.
  • Insurance abroad. Usually bought online, pays off many times over. The choice of insurance depends on the country.
  • house keys(your:)

My secret is in zippered wallets, one of which contains cosmetics and medicines, the other holds money, and the third holds a passport and a notebook. All this is better to put in a small bag-purse. It should not be a bright color - so as not to attract too much attention.
I shifted my wallets - and you're done, no need to rummage through the endless compartments and pockets. Gathered for lunch - take a wallet with money with you, a cosmetic bag in the ladies' room, and you can leave the bag itself with a friend.
I have three multi-colored wallets: gold for money, red for cosmetics and black for documents :).

Also bring a pack of dry wipes, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and a pen.

Whatever trip you go on, the main list of things always remains the same: personal items, gadgets, cameras, first aid kit.
Everything else, if necessary, can be bought on the spot.

So it’s worth working hard and compiling such a universal road list once. It is best to make a list of what you need to take with you a week before the trip. Moreover, the list should be as detailed as possible. Once every few days, look into it - cross out something, and add something. So you have time to think everything over, weigh and avoid turmoil.

Then, with a little adjustment, it can always be used in preparation for any trip.

Cloth. As practice shows, at sea you need to take mostly light casual clothes so that each item is combined with another (for example, any T-shirt could be worn with any jeans or skirt).
Also pack 1-2 evening attire and a handy hiking kit if you plan to do multiple excursions.

Tricolor.
If you want to be sure that everything in your wardrobe goes together (and don't forget about shoes!), take things with you in a maximum of three colors. This will give an almost unlimited number of combinations, from which you can later choose what you want to wear today.
Make sure everything fits together and is good for at least 2 outings.

Multifunctional items.
Which? A good example is the sarong. Used as a blanket, skirt, towel, beach accessory, curtain, scarf… in short, whatever you want. Or a scarf.
For women, there is such a wonderful option as a transforming dress. With a slight movement of the hand, the trousers turn into ... I mean, a couple of movements - and you have changed the style of clothing to a more befitting place, time of day and your mood.

Quick dry items. You can reduce the number of things, assuming that you can wash some things. In a hotel sink, you can easily freshen up a T-shirt or a light dress using a small packet of washing powder or even a spoonful of shampoo.
In addition, it is easier to find a washing machine on a trip than a dryer. Therefore, mainly those things that need less than a day to dry (indoors!), And ideally, just a night, should get into the luggage.
An added bonus: usually light items dry faster, which means that luggage will be lighter.

Wrinkling things.
No matter how carefully and carefully you fold or fold your things, they will still wrinkle during the journey, leaving two options: to walk like hell or constantly look for an iron. Of course, what else to do on a trip, if not ironing! (Sarcasm)
In order to avoid such dubious entertainment, it is worth testing the clothes “for wrinkling” even when collecting suitcases.
Squeeze each item into a ball for a few seconds: if it remains crumpled, it is better not to take it with you.

Warm clothes
Wherever a trip is organized, it is useful to look at the weather for the entire stay. Even in seaside resorts, there are periods of prolonged rains and storms. Therefore, it is worth thinking about packing a few warm things in a suitcase.
For example, take a cardigan with a long sleeve or a three-quarter sleeve, this thing will allow you not to freeze: in the cabin, on an evening walk, in the cinema hall.

Swimsuit.
Most importantly, do not forget to take a swimsuit - even if you are not going towards the sea, a swimsuit can be useful for visiting saunas, pools, SPA.
Also, do not forget about such beach accessories as a beach bag, rug, pareo, shorts, short tops or a light sundress.

Shoes. The same goes for shoes: take shoes that can be worn with several outfits.
Ideally, it should be three pairs: sneakers, sandals and beach slates. Of course, you can change or add to this kit a little, the main thing is not to overdo it.

Put flat shoes or sneakers in a shower cap. This way you protect both the shoes themselves from scratches and clothes from dirt on the soles. An ordinary plastic bag is no worse, just a pair of shoes fits perfectly into a hat in size.

It is recommended to put it on the bottom of the suitcase. The space inside the shoe can be filled with underwear, socks, cosmetics, and any other small items. This makes it possible not only to properly pack things, saving space, but also to avoid deformation and damage to shoes.

Do not take new shoes with you: calluses and torment are guaranteed!

Accessories. Hats, belts, glasses, take one at a time. And it is better to buy beach umbrellas and circles on the spot.

And this is how the hat can be placed in a suitcase so that it does not wrinkle:

4. Cosmetics. Cosmetics require an individual approach. Items such as toothpaste, sunscreen, deodorant, shaving foam and shampoo can be bought on site, used and left at the hotel.
In some hotels, universal hygiene products are provided free of charge.
If you want to use your own, pour everything into small bottles or take half-used ones, with the expectation that you will throw out the empty container at the end of the rest.
To prevent shampoo or other liquids from spilling out, cover the neck with cling film - and only then screw on the lid.

You need to take with you (or buy on the spot): a comb, a manicure set, an epilator or shaving machines, eyebrow tweezers. Gaskets (at least for the first day). By the way, Tampax is not sold in all countries. If you use tampons of this brand, it is better to take them with you.

Don't forget to pack all your makeup in ziplock bags.

Technique . A camera, a mobile phone, a camera, a laptop - this is what you most likely will take anyway. But many people forget about chargers, adapters and flash cards. A selfie stick would be nice too.
Keep in mind that gadgets and all sorts of chargers, spare batteries, adapters take up a lot of space in your luggage. Therefore, do not try to take on a trip everything that you have at home.

Never check chargers in luggage! If your flight is delayed or your suitcase is lost, you will be left without communication.

For a while, a power bank, or an external battery, saves. They come in different capacities, but even the simplest and cheapest ones will be enough for a couple of phone charges.

Smartphones and tablets last longer in airplane mode. If you don’t need to constantly be in touch during a trip, turn on airplane mode not only on the plane. And in the usual translate, only when you need to call or go online.

To keep wires from spreading all over your backpack, put them in a zippered bag, makeup bag, or eyeglass case.

If the hotel room has a modern TV, gadgets can be recharged via its USB connector (useful when you forgot to charge, or there are fewer sockets in the room than you have appliances, or in the country where you arrived, there are other sockets - but there is no adapter) .

Wi-Fi passwords for restaurants, bars and other establishments can be found on the FourSquare social network - you can use the Internet even on the street next to the bar.

Medicines. When deciding what to take to the sea, never make the decision to buy medicines on the spot. First, resort prices are always higher. Secondly, the necessary drug in a local pharmacy may not be. Thirdly, a cold or other illness can overtake you unexpectedly, and you will not have time to start treatment on time.
Therefore, take medicines and pills from home. In another country, medicines known to you may have a different name, and many require a doctor's prescription there. If you suffer from any chronic diseases, take several packs of the right medicine at once.

Be sure to stock up on painkillers; antipyretic and anti-inflammatory; ointment for herpes; preparations for the normalization of the gastrointestinal tract; antihistamines and means for healing burns, cuts, wounds.

In addition, be sure to take a sterile bandage, plaster, iodine or brilliant green, hygienic sticks and cotton swabs with you.

Now go over the list again and cross out what you already at first glance seem superfluous:

Cross off the list those things and items that can be bought abroad. Although, sometimes, they are cheaper at your place, but in general, the additional charge for extra weight of luggage can be much more.

Cross off the list of books and magazines that you don't want to part with. For reading it is better to buy a magazine or newspaper at the airport

Do not try to take all your jewelry and jewelry with you (unless there is a special reason for this). In addition to the fact that this is extra weight and space in luggage, this is also the risk of being robbed. You become a noticeable bait for thieves and scammers.
Thin gold and silver chains tangle and cling to rings and pendants if all the jewelry is placed together. Slip the chain into the cocktail tube.
On a trip, you can get by with inexpensive fun jewelry or even update your jewelry boxes with something new.

So let's go...

Save on weight (you will have to pay extra for overweight)

Not so long ago, getting ready for the road and throwing all the necessary things (and sometimes not very necessary) into the suitcase, we boldly went to the airport, not particularly worrying about how much our luggage weighs.

The surcharge for excess weight was not critical for the wallet and did not create any special problems when registering for the plane.

Today, the situation with excess weight delivers a lot of trouble and worries.
The difficulty lies in the fact that there are no uniform rules and requirements for the carriage of baggage and hand luggage. It depends, most often, on the direction of the flight, its duration, the airline and the class of service.
For example, business or premium passengers can carry 30 kg (and sometimes 40 kg) for free, as opposed to 20-23 kg in economy class.

Are you afraid of overweight, but there is nowhere to weigh your suitcase in advance? Do not line up at your front desk. Find a free one and weigh your luggage. An extra kilo or two? Take the heaviest things in hand luggage or put on yourself. And now take your luggage.

Let me remind you that in most cases you can check in a suitcase weighing 20 or 23 kilograms for free. Even if you are a frequent flyer, always check the conditions for your particular flight (the free baggage allowance is shown on your e-ticket). You can find out about a pleasant indulgence. For example, on flights to the States, China and some other countries, Aeroflot allows you to check in not one, but two 23 kg suitcases for free.

There are also unpleasant exceptions. On charters, the weight of a suitcase is sometimes limited to 15 kilograms. "Victory", the only domestic low-cost airline, allows you to hand over 10 kilograms, more - for a surcharge. Foreign low-budget companies usually do not include baggage at all in the ticket price.

Also, business class passengers can take 2 pieces of hand luggage, unlike economy class passengers. They are allowed only 1 piece of hand luggage in the form of a suitcase / bag + one personal item of some kind (for example, a camera bag, a lady's bag, a bag with a laptop).

Hand luggage is those things that you can take into the cabin of the aircraft, the list of which is determined by the rules of each particular airline.

There are restrictions on the size of hand luggage and its weight.

As a rule, it is no more 25 x 40 x 55 cm or in the sum of 3 measurements - 115 cm. Well, the weight depends on the rules of the airline and can range from 3 to 15 kg. (usually 10 kg)

If your hand luggage does not meet the established parameters or exceeds the weight limit, you will have to check these items in your luggage. There is no surcharge for excess weight in hand luggage (with the possible exception of low-cost airlines, which have special requirements for the rules for carrying hand luggage and baggage).

✈ What to take on a plane and how to pack your suitcase

Foreign airlines are especially strict in following these parameters.
This variation in requirements is sometimes due to increased security requirements, and, in some cases, the desire to get more profit.

Strict rules and heavy fines for excess weight in some airlines can seriously undermine the budget planned for a trip. Because 1 kg of overweight can cost tens of euros.

And, even if you save a lot on buying an air ticket (for example, using the services of a budget or low-cost airline), the surcharge for being overweight can eat up all your savings.

Here is another video on the topic so that it is not boring:

"Proper" travel suitcases and bags

As you know, a good pre-holiday mood appears from the moment you buy a travel bag. What difference does it make what bag or suitcase to buy, you might object.
Yes, it doesn't seem to make any difference.

But in fact, the choice is always determined by several circumstances:

  • Where and how are you going to spend your vacation (on the beach, in the mountains, on a hike)
  • How will you get there (by car, by train, by plane)
  • Durability of the travel bag
  • Ease of use, correct dimensions

If your favorite mode of transportation is by plane, then the last two points are of particular importance for the reason we discussed above (weight and size restrictions).

Our task is to choose a universal suitcase or travel bag so that (despite different requirements for baggage allowance in different airlines) we can safely go on any trip and not overpay for extra pounds or non-standard bag sizes in hand luggage. And in which, despite the relatively small volume, one could easily fit the necessary set of clothes, shoes and travel accessories.

Take a small bag. The bigger the bag, the more everyone is trying to cram into it. And the harder it ends up being. Imagine how "fun" it will be to drag it to the upper floors without an elevator, drag it around airports and train stations, load it on a shelf in a bus.
So always choose the right bag for your particular trip.

Need to stock up on a bunch of souvenirs for friends and family? A separate package is allocated for this - and you do not have to constantly shake and repack all these trinkets. Just put new acquisitions there, they are usually not needed on a trip, and you can calmly sort everything out at home.

Hoboroll organizer bag. A variety of mesh (and not so) covers and shelves do not really save space (moreover, the weight of the luggage even slightly increases), but they really help to correctly decompose things. Anyone who travels in couples / with children / often moves / just does not like to lay things out - such a thing can be useful.
Or a Hoboroll organizer bag. I must say right away - a bag for an amateur. But in certain situations, such a bag is just a godsend. Inside it has five compartments, it opens from two sides, all this makes things easily accessible for review, despite the considerable volume of the bag, which can hold up to 19 liters.
Plus - Hoboroll has the unique property of compressing things into a small lump. We stuff everything that does not wrinkle and is not fragile, we throw the organizer bag into a suitcase or just on our shoulder - profit!

Take a bag with compartments. Otherwise, everything ends up in one heap, gets mixed up, makes it difficult to find what you need, and crumples even more. Stretch mesh pockets, zippered compartments and all sorts of internal dividers help organize the space inside the bag.

So, a bag, a backpack or a suitcase - what is better to put luggage in? Depends on where you are going and what you plan to do. Were you going to climb mountains, spend the night in nature and all that? Of course, in this case, it is better to take a proven comfortable backpack. We are watching

Traditional "lazy" rest with a hotel and civilized excursions? A suitcase would be a great option. Also try to figure out how much you will have to walk with things on foot through airports, train stations and streets, it may be more convenient to use a bag on wheels. (The suitcase should be with wheels by default, always.)

Packing your suitcase wisely... A week at sea with hand luggage

When traveling, you almost always have to assemble and disassemble a bag, backpack or suitcase several times. So, this process should be optimized as much as possible.
Build your own bag arrangement system. Then you don't have to frantically rummage inside in search of the right thing - each of them will have its own permanent place.

How to compactly fold things in a suitcase

Before you start chaotically rushing around the house in search of the necessary things, you need to take a deep breath and move on to reasonable, consistent actions.

How to compactly fold things in a suitcase? To do this, they all need to be in one place, for example, stacked in an orderly manner on the bed. The use of such a simple approach makes it possible to avoid overloading luggage with a whole mountain of unnecessary trash. Only after the things that are really necessary for the trip remain in front of your eyes, you can start filling the suitcase.

But it's hard not to agree with the famous saying of the philosopher Oscar Wilde: "I can do without the necessary, but I can't live without the superfluous." It's just about me.
What to do in this situation? Select things according to the principle “I definitely can’t do without it”, and not according to the principle “what if you need it”.
Remember that extra things are not only money thrown away for excess weight, but also the safety of your luggage. Heavy suitcases and bags are most often damaged: it is difficult for loaders to work with them and they are usually placed at the very bottom of the luggage compartment

So, before you put things in a suitcase, gather them in one pile. Compare the size of the pile with the size of the suitcase and be horrified. Throw out every fifth item. Review the remaining baggage according to the recommendations above...

General rules for packing things in a suitcase or bag (in any case, this is what experts advise) are as follows:

  • bottom layer- stack the heaviest items, placing them evenly and keeping the balance of the suitcase (bag). It can be a travel bag, a cosmetic bag, shoes.
At the bottom of the suitcase, you can also put chargers, adapters, after packing them in a separate bag.
Shoes fit into the covers of one shoe and are located on both sides of the suitcase and corners. In order to save space, shoes can be pre-stuffed with any small things (socks, scarves, underwear, etc.)
  • middle layer- fill all the voids formed with belts, having previously twisted them, ties (transported in a special case), rolled up jeans, T-shirts, jumpers and T-shirts.
  • Upper layer- dresses, tops, suits that would be good to pack in a bag beforehand (a travel case in which suits or clothes are transported, while it does not wrinkle and retains its shape).

In order not to wrinkle clothes, some tricks and tricks are used.

Roll your clothes. To pack as much as possible in your suitcase, forget about the neat stacks of t-shirts and jumpers from the laundry detergent advertisement. Roll each item into a tight roll.

First, folding clothes instead of folding will help save space. Secondly, it makes it easier to access each specific thing. Thirdly, the clothes are much less wrinkled.

Place the rollers in the suitcase closely and do not allow empty spaces.

For example, if you twist trousers into a tight tube from the bottom up, nothing will happen to them and you can put them on without any ironing.

For shirts - when packing, it is necessary to turn up the collar, then it will definitely not wrinkle.

How to quickly and compactly fold T-shirts.

Mass vacations of this summer are over, but travel continues! We help novice travelers planning vacations in September and October optimize their travel packages: what clothes and shoes to take, how to place warm and light things in a suitcase and make sure that there is enough space for shopping.

How to pack a suitcase

Make a list of what you might need on your trip. Now remember where you are going, what you will do, what the weather is like there, and make the necessary changes.

Try to leave room for future shopping. Didn't work? Can you fit a fold-out souvenir bag?

Be sure to take toiletries and cosmetics. You can actually buy sunblock in Sydney, shampoo in Tokyo, and a toothbrush in New York, but isn't it a waste of time? Don't rely on a hotel: shampoo will be the cheapest in a microscopic bottle. Together with the travel bag, put the charger and a list of necessary phones in your suitcase.

It is convenient to divide the fees into two stages. A week before departure, put everything you want to take out of the closet. Carefully check each item for stains and buttons, you will probably reject more than a third!

Make a list of what you put in your suitcase: by writing down the eighteenth white top, you are likely to stop, and if the airline loses or sends luggage to the wrong place, you can claim compensation.

How to close a suitcase? Here is the problem! Fold tops, skirts and jeans twenty times, pray to your saint, and if all else fails, sit on the lid. I hope you haven't forgotten anything and you'll only have to open your suitcase at your destination...

Can't lift your suitcase? It doesn't matter, the main thing is that the porters and the cart endure! It is desirable, of course, to independently move it from home to a taxi, from a taxi to a trolley, and after arrival from a trolley to a taxi, and then the employees will help.

Please contact the hotel to confirm your arrival before closing your suitcase. After a tiring flight with three transfers, the last thing you need is pads. Try to be extremely polite so as not to annoy the administrators in advance.

How to pack a bag or suitcase correctly

Advised by Anja Hindmarch, accessories designer

In your free time, clear all your bags of garbage, recipes and photos of ex-boyfriends. I assemble my bags according to the nesting doll principle, which allows me to quickly and painlessly change them even during the working week.

The whole secret is in leather wallets, in one of which cosmetics and medicines are stored, in the other - money, in the third - a passport and a notebook. I shifted my wallets - and you're done, no need to rummage through the endless compartments and pockets. Gathered for lunch - take a wallet with money with you, a cosmetic bag in the ladies' room, and you can leave the bag itself with a friend. I have three multi-colored kid wallets: gold for money, silver for cosmetics and hot pink for documents.

The same principle applies to suitcases.

I divide things into two categories: those that are packed at the last moment, and those that can be folded in advance. Travel bag, cosmetic bag, jewelry bag, bags for stockings and underwear - everything should be bright in order to quickly navigate. And when you are going home, you just count your wallets with handbags and immediately realize that you forgot.

It is better to put jeans and woolen clothes at the bottom. The next layer is dresses, capes, blouses and so on, the higher, the smaller and lighter.

Turn your shirts inside out, fill the voids with light cardigans, and put everything “explosive”, that is, shampoo, perfume and toothpaste, into separate bags. Under pressure, they can open and stain clothes. Wash your shoes in advance, dry them and only then put them in a suitcase.

If there are not many things, I put them right on the coat hanger, and then just hang them in the closet. I have a strong prejudice against hotel hangers: there are too many knots and “splinters” in them.

Fold your suitcase in such a way that, opening it in front of strangers, you do not burn with shame. In my opinion, it is better to spend money on a bright rag bag for underwear than to show it to customs officers.

Stick a sticker with your initials and upon arrival you will instantly recognize it on the conveyor belt.

What to take with you on a trip: clothes, shoes, accessories

Advised by Angela Lindwell, model

The ability to organize a wardrobe for a trip is a special talent. Ideally, from a minimum of things, a maximum of species should be obtained. For example, for each trousers, take three different tops: a top, a shirt and a feminine blouse; if you go for two or three days, this is quite enough.

Choose jackets with a liner to be less dependent on the vagaries of the weather: I removed the lining, and the warm "dutik" turned into a windbreaker. Even if you are going south, be sure to take a jacket. Will it suddenly get colder? You don't want to sit in a hotel waiting for the weather to warm up.

The more shoes, the better, at least two pairs, plus what you wear. Easy to say, right? Wrap sharp heels with crumpled paper, and stuff your noses with stockings (not mesh, of course), scarves or mufflers.

Accessories are the best friends of a traveler: they hardly take up space, and any everyday look is instantly turned into a smart and solemn one. Some girls like to take dresses that are very compact and self-sufficient. The motley pashmina is my constant companion, goes well with any look and perfectly warms during long flights.

Yes, depending on the country and location. For example, in California, these apples will not be told where they will stuff the tourist :). There's even special luggage sniffing dogs.

Everything is possible in my opinion. There are only a number of countries restrictions on the import of alcohol (no more than 1 liter of strong and 2 liters of beer) and cigarettes.

Yes, fresh from Greece. Max. up to 23 kg suitcase, if more than one person flies, this is strictly!
For one - 20 kg. If you don't have anything to carry with you, take a nasty bag with wheels and a handle, it takes up less space and is lighter.

They have the right to open any suitcase if something seemed suspicious on the transillumination. And here is the presence or absence of a film? This is the work of the security service, as a rule, they open it at the airport of departure. Are you going to draw up an act at the airport of arrival?

2. Kipling bag on wheels. Plus the fact that everything sits and soft things fit a lot. We took one for all (2+2)
3. Small suitcase on wheels. We take for trips together. Me and my husband or me and my daughter.
More than one suitcase was taken only twice - when we went on a winter vacation, as there were replaceable warm clothes, and to Spain, since they brought Sangria from there! And so for 4, one is enough, I don’t know what people carry, I even have an obvious surplus of things, but I really want to wear summer dresses!

You go to the website of some foreign airline (Airberlin for example) and look at the allowed luggage, it's even a separate item on the menu.
It says what size and weight and number of pieces of luggage and hand luggage is allowed for one passenger.
suitcases on wheels are convenient, but you need to look not only at the size but also at their weight, otherwise with a huge suitcase weighing 6kg you won’t put much in there with a weight limit of 20kg.

Normally, flowers fly on airplanes, of course, if they are well packaged. I have rich experience in transporting flowers by plane, including across the border, mostly without fatal outcomes. It can also be in luggage if you find a good solid container for the whole flower. Otherwise... Well, you know how luggage is handled when the owners don't see it. It is better to carry cuttings in luggage, in strong plastic boxes. Of course, it is better to take it to the salon and stick it somewhere under your feet. If the flowers are with you, then the usual packaging will do.

The holidays are in full swing, and the main headache is packing the suitcase, which most of us pack four hours before departure, dumping all the best in one heap. We share tips on how to pack a bag and what to take with you, starting from the principles of healthy asceticism and rationality, so that you will have room for new things that you definitely want to buy, having left three miles from home.

Plan carefully what you want to take with you. It’s even better to make a list and then cross out everything superfluous. Why do you need a mountain of dresses and boots with you when you can find new ones on vacation? Take with you what you wear in life without hesitation. Buy everything else locally. You can go even further. Someone practices detox and fasting days in nutrition, arrange for yourself the same in relation to things. Take the necessary minimum of comfortable and functional things and do not go in cycles that you have nothing to wear. Enjoy the adventure and avoid the shops.

If you put things in a suitcase in layers, they take up much more space. The best thing is to roll each item tightly into a roll, then everything will easily fit even in hand luggage or there will be enough free space in your suitcase to bring home local wine, souvenirs and new clothes. In addition, twisted clothes wrinkle less.

In addition to your suitcase, take with you one roomy beautiful backpack, a small bag on a chain and a fabric bag-bag for going to the beach. Suddenly your plans will change, and you will want to go from the city for a couple of days to the sea or vice versa. You can leave your suitcase in a hotel or rented apartment and take only the essentials with you so that nothing distracts you from your adventures. In addition, put your iPad or laptop in your backpack, which is convenient to get on the plane, and documents in a bag on a chain (which will come in handy on vacation in the evening). Just roll up the bag and take it with you - it will come in handy.

City vacation set pretty simple: two dresses (a little black and a day dress), birkenstocks or other sandals, a pair of versatile sneakers, a shirt, tank top or crop top, a pair of favorite jeans, cozy basic knitwear like a vest or turtleneck, a few basic t-shirts, a sweater or cardigan, and one jacket (or bomber, or leather jacket, or denim). You can take a jacket with you - throwing it on a dress, you can go to some cultural event in the evening. Dresses, shorts, skirts, jewelry and smart shoes are best bought on the spot and then brought home.

If you are going to the sea You can get by with even fewer things. For the beach, take two swimsuits (one-piece and one-piece), one skirt or midi-length shorts, light trousers and one summer dress - all this will be needed not only on the beach, but also in the city. The same with slippers - it is better to take all the same orthopedic birkenstocks, in which it is comfortable to walk even on sand, even on paving stones and which, on occasion, can be worn with an evening dress of any length. The main condition for things on vacation is a double function. Think about where else this or that thing can come in handy. For example, if you plan to run past the beach in the morning, then a beautiful sports bra will come in handy, you can wear it in the city with a midi-length skirt or trousers (for example, light culottes) and not take extra T-shirts and crop tops. And you can always put on beautiful running bike shorts with a shirt and sandals on a tractor platform and go see the architecture. Sports will not go out of fashion in the near future. It’s better to take a towel with you, even if it’s small - it’s better than looking for a disposable towel for half a day instead of throwing things and going straight to the beach.

Wilderness vacation set(in the forests or in the mountains) will be different in that you will take with you more cans (from mosquitoes, burns), medicines and other items: from a tent to dishes, which you are unlikely to buy on the spot. Here sports and warm clothes are the main thing. In addition, it is better to merge lightly with nature.

A couple of little things can make a big difference make your life easier: like earplugs, sleep mask, pillow, antiseptic, universal nourishing cream, thread with a needle, allergy pills, noshpa, aspirin, spare charger and a second phone, condoms, copies of documents and a supply of interchangeable lenses - emergency little things better than extra clothes. Remember T-shirt rolls and reasonable asceticism. Separately, think about a set of medicines, especially if you have chronic diseases: for example, activated charcoal can be bought at a pharmacy in any country, but a proven antibiotic is not a fact.

About liquids in microbottles we won’t write much in a separate plastic bag: when traveling, something always bursts and spills. Well, you know. Therefore, it is better to pour everything into small containers, which are sold in any cosmetic chain stores, and put it in a waterproof cosmetic bag. In addition, home, as with clothes, you will probably want to bring local cosmetics.
