Since the moment when “import substitution” has become one of the usual words, Russian designers have indeed been treated with special pride. For me, as the founder of my own brand in the past, this is infinitely pleasant: before, brides also welcomed the “French brand” or “Italian brand”, as they now do with the “Russian designer”. At the same time, in Western countries, the attitude towards our designers has changed for the better: often for fashion shoots, outfits and accessories for brides of Russian brands are specifically sought. Of course, this does not mean that absolutely everything made in Russia has the highest quality mark. But today in the wedding fashion market there are our colossal designers and brands that are not inferior to top Western competitors. It is very important for us to use the highest quality materials, so we order silk, delicate Chantilly lace, embroidered lace and tulle only from France and Italy from manufacturers of couture fabrics. We pay great attention to elegant hand embroidery, which is performed by our St. Petersburg craftswomen using the highest quality materials: Japanese beads and Austrian rhinestones. And if we talk about trends, then, probably, two directions can be distinguished here: experiments with a color palette and experiments with decor. If we take competition from Western brands, yes, it is difficult. They have a sewing infrastructure that has been created over the years, a system of seasonal shows, a system of sales and interaction with buyers has been established. We still have to fill bumps by trial and error. We ourselves seek out suppliers of fabrics, we are looking for talented seamstresses and embroiderers in all cities of Russia - in a word, we are building our design world bit by bit.

Western buyers are showing interest in us, and this is good news. We offer a different product that differs in style, spirit, and often, we have a more attractive price, which does not reflect on the quality. But often our brands offer couture and demi-couture.

We design and create custom-made dresses using European fabrics: French laces and tulles, English silks, handmade adds nobility to the image and allows the dress to look beautiful not only from afar, but also up close. The main focus of our studio has always been colored wedding dresses, I think this trend will linger on the catwalks and in real life. Delicate shades of powder, cool gray, smoky, blue... We also have classic white and milky dresses in our collection, the main thing is to choose the right shade.
Now it has become popular to sew dresses to order, when the designer can listen to the guest and catch her style, mood, character, so that the phrase from the film: “It’s not Vera Wang’s dress that adapts to you, but you to it!” – was no longer our reality.
But there is also a negative side to the development of the fashionable wedding sphere. In Russia, there is a rather serious art school of fashion designers, and now there are opportunities to express themselves and declare themselves. Style VESSSNA WEDDING, first of all, we define as a complete consonance of the bride and the dress. It is worth noting that the classic wedding look is also influenced by new trends, but traditionally it is dominated by shades of white and cream, luxurious lace and sparkling embroidery. I launched my brand while in the UK, but the presence of a Russian origin in its DNA was noticeable even by the name - Beretka. The style of the headwear brand is very diverse. I often draw inspiration from vintage. I have a great love for antiquity in its various manifestations, in particular, I am inspired by the Art Deco era. Therefore, once or twice a year I try to release at least one such collection. I also love headbands, small combs, tiaras - classic options that are familiar to brides. But knowing my brand, anyone can see that the incarnation often takes on more modern forms. If we are talking about a tiara in the sense of Beretkah, then it will be a tiara made of quartz crystals, and not a classic tiara with rhinestones.
Now I live in two cities, Moscow-Berlin, and this forms a special vision and creates a very interesting bridge between the West and Russia. For example, I noted for myself how, despite the fact that the tradition of wearing hats has not yet been revived in Russia, nevertheless, after the royal wedding in England, hats began to gain more weight among modern youth, albeit not in everyday life. As for the demand in the West, some of the designers with whom I collaborate, knowing about my Russian roots, ask me to give a special touch to headwear, since I create some products for specific European boutiques.
