meizu watch. MEIZU MIX Review – A classic yet smart watch. What the watch can do

In our time, it is already difficult to surprise with devices like fitness bracelets or smart watches. However, many users still prefer to wear conventional quartz or mechanical watches. Often this is due to the attachment to the design, low weight and thin profile of the classics. After all, most smart watches are quite large devices, and some models do not look like watches at all in the usual sense of the word.

“But what if you combine smart functions with the advantages of ordinary wristwatches?” Meizu engineers thought. And the market saw a worthy heir to the "quartz classic" - Meizu MIX Smart Watch. What are the advantages of the novelty and how Meizu smart watches stand out from the competition - read in our review, let's go!

Design heritage

A distinctive feature of the new Meizu MIX Smart Watch, and we can say their main feature, is the most authentic design. The strict appearance of the novelty does not differ from the classics - mechanical and quartz watches.

The same can be said about the strap or bracelet - several options are available with classic leather straps (brown and black), as well as modifications with steel bracelets (metallic and black).

Adjustment of the leather strap on the wrist is carried out by selecting the desired hole, and fitting the steel bracelet - by changing the number of links. Everything is standard, as we are used to seeing it with ordinary watches.

The dial is contrasting - hands, numbers and serifs are clearly distinguishable. All elements are made in the image and likeness of "quartz-mechanical classics". At the top, along the edge, the inscription “swiss movt” flaunts - this indicates that the internal mechanism of the watch was assembled in Switzerland by the Ronda watch company. Under the inscription is a diode indicator, which is hidden under the dial and is completely invisible until the moment of activation.

At the bottom of the main dial is an additional - seconds. It is equipped with one hand, weekday marks and numbers 0, 50 and 100 - we will talk about its functionality a little later.

Two buttons are placed on the right side of the watch and are stylized as controls, like a regular watch – everything looks as harmonious as possible. Both keys have a soft, well-tangible stroke without clicks.

Features of work

Meizu MIX Smart Watch turned out to be not quite a standard smart watch, like analogues on Android Wear OS and other operating systems for wearable electronics. The novelty belongs to a certain class of smart watches - the so-called "connected watch", which is a classic quartz watch with advanced features.

Additional functions work only in conjunction with a smartphone or tablet, and Meizu MIX Smart Watch works with both Apple's iOS and Google's Android OS. Therefore, adherents of both operating systems will be able to use the new product from Meizu without any problems.

To connect the watch to a smartphone, you need to install a free application that is available in the Play Market and the App Store. The instructions for Meizu MIX Smart Watch have a special QR code, by scanning which, the user gets to the application page.

Next, you need to hold down the main key located "at 3 o'clock", and then follow the instructions on the screen of your device. Everything is implemented as intuitively and simply as possible, the user can easily figure out the settings in a matter of minutes.

After activating and setting up the watch, you can use additional features, including:
A pedometer that tracks your activity throughout the day
Finding a paired device is a very useful feature if you forgot where you left your smartphone (indoors, of course)
Vibration for various alerts (social media notifications are only accepted from Android devices)
Alarm clock, which can also be used to set reminders in the task scheduler

The pedometer has a flexible setting using the application. In the program, you can enter your personal data - weight, height, gender, age, etc., as well as set a specific goal, for example, losing excess weight. Based on the data received, Meizu MIX Smart Watch will calculate the individual rate of the number of steps per day and start counting calories burned.

The information received from the watch is stored daily in a proprietary application. If necessary, the user receives detailed statistics of his activity. Also, the watch will notify you of the achieved goal, for example, the implementation of the norm of steps per day.

In addition to the application, the statistics of the pedometer are displayed on the second dial when you press the button on the watch, located "at 2 o'clock". The arrow will show an approximate percentage of the established norm, which is why the numbers 0, 50 and 100 are needed.

Pressing this key twice will activate the calendar mode - the second hand will point to the current day of the week. When idle, the hand will return to counting seconds. The solution is interesting and very elegant.

Additional chips

Standard coin cell battery - CR2430

Firstly, this watch is powered by a replaceable CR2430 coin cell battery, which is used in classic quartz watches. The operating time is up to 240 days, so you will have to change the battery in the Meizu MIX Smart Watch no more often than in a regular watch. Compared to other smart watches, such an operating time will be a real gift for many users.

Secondly, Meizu MIX Smart Watch is protected from moisture penetration into the case according to the WR30 protocol (splash and rain protection). In practice, this means that you can wash your hands without removing the Meizu MIX Smart Watch, without any consequences for the operation of the watch. But taking a shower or swimming with a watch on your hand is not worth it, it can lead to breakage.

Summarizing

Meizu MIX Smart Watch turned out to be a very interesting hybrid - a bright representative of the "connected watch" class. They successfully combine the recognizable design of "quartz classics" and the most requested features of smart watches. Stylish appearance and extremely long battery life are the main trump cards

More recently, Meizu has released a smart watch that has a stylish appearance and pretty good functionality. To the surprise of all fans of the Chinese manufacturer, the watches went on sale in the Russian market very quickly. The Meizu Mix review will tell you more about this new gadget.

Appearance

In appearance, smart watches look very attractive and aesthetically pleasing. Their design is made like a classic watch, which is complemented by the necessary functionality for synchronization with a mobile device. At first glance, it is impossible to guess that this is a smart watch.

The case and strap are made of hardened steel, which is very durable and does not corrode over time. The dial is also made of steel. This device looks expensive and solid. There are two color options to choose from, black and silver. It is worth noting that the watch strap is very comfortable and fits almost any hand, but, unfortunately, is not adjustable.

If the strap is too big, then it is very easy to shorten it, just remove one or two links, and the watch will fit perfectly on your hand. A well-made strap does not rub the hand and does not cause discomfort even with prolonged wear.

In addition to the steel strap, watches with a nylon strap are available for sale, this option is perfect for young people. Another everyday version of a smart watch with a high quality Italian leather strap. The watch is suitable for both men and women. The leather strap looks very impressive and stylish. Meizu Mix will complement the image of any user.

As for the dial, it is quite large and stylish. It is covered with durable protective sapphire glass, which has a hardness value of 9. Only diamond protective glass can be stronger.

Specifications

Smart watches from Meizu have a Swiss movement, which significantly increases their status and reliability. Also an indisputable advantage is their moisture protection. The watch will not suffer if it gets caught in the rain, in the shower, you can even bathe in the pool.

To synchronize the watch with a smartphone, you need a special application that is available on the Play Market. Smart watches allow you to track the activity of your user. It is necessary to specify in the settings the required number of steps, how many will need to be done in a day, and the watch will remind you if you sit too long in one place.

It should be noted right away that the functionality of this device is small, but, nevertheless, the basic functions are present.

The watch also notifies you of an incoming call, message or other smartphone activity, while they begin to vibrate.

There is also an alarm clock on smart watches, but it is peculiar, there is no possibility to set a melody on it. You can wake up only from the fact that the watch will vibrate on your hand at a given time. But for many, this may be a better option than an annoying melody in the morning.

The basic functionality of the watch also includes a very useful “find my phone” function. For example, for girls who always lose their smartphone in their purse, this feature will be very useful. When you press a key on the phone, music will play and it will be very easy to find it.

The Meizu Mix smart watch is equipped with a very powerful CR2430 battery, its capacity is 270 mAh. It is replaceable, and is able to work stably for up to eight months, which is a lot for a watch with smart functionality. It is worth noting that most smart watches are able to work no more than one day with active use.

Stylish and solid watches will perfectly complement the business style, as well as perfect for everyday wear.

You can order these watches now. The cost of goods starts from 13,990 rubles.

Summarizing

Meizu MIX Smart Watch turned out to be a very interesting hybrid - a bright representative of the "connected watch" class. They successfully combine the recognizable design of "quartz classics" and the most requested features of smart watches. Stylish appearance and extremely long battery life are the main trump cards

Introduction

The Chinese company Meizu decided to please its fans (it is unlikely that anyone else will know about such an accessory) with a partially smart watch with the simple name Mix. The accessory is a classic round quartz watch with a steel case and a sapphire crystal strap protecting the dial. As for Smart-functions, they are presented rather modestly: inside there is a Bluetooth module, an accelerometer, a magnetometer and a gyroscope. Together with the special Meizu Watch app, we get a simple fitness tracker that tracks steps, distance, calories burned and other functions.

In Russia, the watch is available in several modifications: metal bracelet/case in silver and black, Italian leather strap in brown and black. On the global market, there is also a version with a nylon textile strap.

The cost of MIX with a steel strap is 15,000 rubles, with a leather strap - 14,000 rubles.

Contents of delivery

The watch is packed in a black cardboard box (and its color does not depend on the color of the watch). Having removed the upper protective cover, you will find a nice small cube made of eco-leather, inside of which there is a watch covered with a protective film. In addition, the kit includes a warranty card and instructions in several languages, including Russian (there are parameters and time settings).

Appearance

If you do not go into design details, then this is a classic round watch, of which there are a huge number on store shelves for every taste and color. Therefore, smart Chinese decided to "take" the buyer not so much with the appearance as with the materials. Judge for yourself: the watch case and bracelet are made of 316L jewelry steel, and the dial is protected by a durable sapphire crystal of hardness 9 on the Mohs mineralogical scale - only diamond is cooler, it has a hardness of 10. The 316L brand tells us about high anti-corrosion properties (a layer of chromium oxide), due to which it does not react with human sweat and does not cause allergies; moreover, such steel is resistant to sun and sea water, chemical (presence of molybdenum) or mechanical damage.

The diameter of the watch is 42 mm, and the thickness is 12 mm - quite typical dimensions of a quartz or mechanical watch. The weight is no less than 130 grams, they feel good on the hand, but those who are used to wearing light accessories will have to get used to it or buy a version with a leather strap.

Meizu MIX watches look good, fit both casual style (casual clothing style with an emphasis on convenience and practicality) and business style. I am sure that no one will have any complaints about the appearance of MIX: there are no pretentious elements here, everything is simple, relatively strict and stylish.

Since the bracelet was too long for my wrist, I had to remove a couple of links (it didn’t work out on my own, the watchmaker paid 50 rubles). After that, the watch began to sit comfortably on the wrist, however, a slight backlash was still preserved.

The clasp is classic: first one part of the bracelet is fastened, then the other. To open it, you must simultaneously press on both sides of the two protrusions on the sides. Fastening is reliable, for a month of use nothing terrible happened.

The manufacturer claims that the watch is protected from water splashes (class 2, the minimum degree of water protection is 3 atmospheres). However, before taking a shower or swimming in the open ocean, Meizu MIX must still be removed.

The dial consists of silver hour, minute and second hands. On the large dial, the minutes are indicated in Arabic numerals (05, 10, 15 ... 50, 55, 60), on the small dial - the days of the week in Latin and the daily load rate from 0 to 100.

With a black watch, there are two unpleasant nuances. The first is that in low light conditions, both dials are either poorly visible or not visible at all. That is, at night, most likely, you will have to select such an angle of inclination of the clock so that the hands “catch” the reflection of light. In this regard, the white watch behaves perfectly. The second - on the black background of the dial, fingerprints and greasy stains on the glass are very noticeable.

Frankly, I treat watches purely as an accessory: even if I wear them, I almost never watch the time, the main thing is that I like the design of the watch and that it is comfortable. Therefore, I chose MIX in black: although the time is not displayed quite comfortably depending on the lighting, Meizu looks great.

I completely forgot about the two mechanical buttons on the right side of the watch. The upper (small size) is responsible for switching modes: one press - and on the small dial, the second hand indicates the day of the week, two presses - the percentage of the load rate laid down in the application. The button below serves only to find the phone (the watch vibrates once, and the phone beeps until you find it and unlock it). Pressing the buttons is very tight, the move is average. For a month of using the watch, the functions described above were almost never used.

By the way, yes, Meizu MIX has a vibration motor and an indicator (it flashes red at the top under the inscription “Swiss movt”). Vibro is very weak, so I heard the vibration on the phone better than I felt it on my wrist from the watch. When walking, the motor is all the more not felt. Well, I’m talking about the indicator in general.

Watch mechanism

On the dial of Meizu MIX, the marking "Swiss movt" is indicated at the top. In general, the word Swiss is translated as "Swiss", that is, a certain element should have been made in this country. This marking has certain additions: for example, the word “movt” (movement) means that the mechanism is completely Swiss. Judging by the specifications, Meizu uses the Ronda movement. The history of the brand begins in 1946, when William Mosset (inventor) founded the Ronda factory. The name Ronda was born from the French term "arrondir" - "rounding of the hinge". At first, the company made scales and moving parts for watches. In the 60s, Ronda, after a long "battle" with the Swiss authorities, who protected the watch industry at the legislative level, received the right to manufacture Roskopf pallets and mechanical parts. Ronda currently has over 2,000 employees in Thailand, Hong Kong, Switzerland. The family business's business figures were not disclosed.

The main advantage of Ronda movements is unification, not only between different modifications of the same caliber, but also between different calibers:

“Unification is beneficial not only for the manufacturer, but also for the watchmaker. Very often, in the absence of spare parts, one has to pick up a watch with a “similar” mechanism in order to use it as a donor. The unification of parts makes this task easier. For example, if a 753 mechanism was brought to you for repair, but you don’t have exactly the same, you can take the 763rd, which looks different from it. All the basic details are the same."

Also inside is a Bluetooth 4.0 (LE) module, a three-axis gyroscope, an accelerometer and a geomagnetic sensor.

Under the metal cover of the watch is a CR2430 battery, which should last for 6 to 8 months. For a little over a month, in my case, the battery in the program settings wrote - “Full”.

Meizu Watch app

The program can be found on Google Play and the AppStore. I will talk about the application for Android OS.

When you turn on Meizu Watch for the first time, you need to connect it and enter your account information. For a long time the program worked extremely unstable, later an add-on came out that fixed everything.

The main screen displays the steps taken, mileage and calories burned. A little lower, a goal is set and comparative information is displayed relative to yesterday's result. Tapping on the "steps" takes you to extended information. Here steps are indicated in relation to hours, days, weeks and months, and a little lower is a transcript: the number of steps, energy spent, duration and distance.
