Cut out two pieces of denim according to the pattern in a mirror image. Remember to add about half a centimeter of hem around the rounded part where the finishing seam of the patch will pass. And finally, the most common case for men's jeans is the ragged edge of the bottom of the jeans. Most often this occurs due to the fact that the jeans are a little longer than required. But since men rarely pay attention to such "little things", sooner or later, frayed areas appear along the edges of the back halves of jeans. At first, simply disassemble and iron the bottom hem. With chalk or soap, draw a line along the rubbed area, and cut off the bottom section of the jeans hem with scissors. The tape can be pulled slightly, but not too much, then the appearance of the hem of the jeans will be more beautiful and the hem of the jeans will not turn out. Darning (or stuffing) is carried out as follows:

  1. Stretch the fabric with the right side facing you.
  2. Pick up threads that completely resemble the threads of the matter from which the thing is sewn. If necessary, you can pull the thread out of the thing itself from the edge on the wrong side.
  3. Each stitch hooks on a strong part of the matter and is led to the opposite side, a meager stitch is made there, then with the next stitch the needle returns to the previous side.
  4. First, the entire area is darned in one direction, then in a direction perpendicular to it. In this case, the stitches are carried out in waves: the needle goes over one thread, then goes under the second, then goes over the third and so on. A kind of lattice of threads is created.

When darning clothes, you should try to make the general outline of the darned area resemble a circle. With a successful selection of thread and careful work, the darned area is almost invisible, at least not striking.

Applying a patch

When the edges of the hole are torn and crooked, it is advisable to apply a patch. To do this, the edges of the break are cut in such a way that they resemble a clear geometric figure that best suits the pattern on the fabric: a circle, a rhombus, a square. The patch for the patch is usually recommended to match the color of the fabric, preferably with the same pattern. As a rule, a suitable scrap is attached to the clothes. Thermal patches can also be used for this purpose. They look stylish and are very easy to apply: it is enough to iron them with a hot iron and they stick almost “tightly”. Experience shows that high-quality thermal stickers hold even after repeated washing.

How to mend a hole in clothes if it has even edges

If the tear on the clothes turned out along one thread in a straight line, then you can mend this hole without applying a patch. The edges of the fabric are folded over so that they do not crumble and do not come apart from under the seam as shown in figure a. Then the original tightening thread can be pulled out, and if it remains under the new one, then it can be left. The seam from the inside of the fabric is ironed with a hot iron so that the fabric does not wrinkle.

How to mend a hole in clothes if the fabric is torn in different directions

If the fabric of the clothes is torn up and down (as in fragment a of the figure on the right), then it is placed on the table so that the entire tear is on a hard, even surface. The torn ends are smoothed out and, if they do not hold in this position, they are slightly pulled together with a few stitches, while trying not to tear the hole even more.

Then they outline and, at the same time, fix the edges of the hole, starting to do this with shorter break lines, and leaving the longest ones for the last stage of work. Each gap must begin to darn a little further than the hole, in a strong place. In this case, it is best to do this with a seam “by the needle”.

After fixing all the lines of the hole, cut the “antennae” of the threads and finally darn the hole with a seam “over the edge”, starting, again, from the shortest lines and ending with the long ones. At the same time, each seam must be finished a little further than the place where the gap ends, and the stitches should be gradually “nullified”, shortening the sewing lines (as in fragment b of the figure).

At the end, the basting thread is pulled out and the seam is smoothed with a hot iron. Fragment c shows the seam on the wrong side, and fragment d shows the seam on the front side.

If the hole in the garment has many tear lines or part of the fabric falls out, then it is not advisable to darn it, it is necessary to apply a patch.

Yes, this is a banal situation that everyone has probably fallen into. Imagine putting on your favorite T-shirt or pulling on comfortable pants. And suddenly you notice a hole. And it looks great!

Of course, you can sew up the hole, but if it is in front or behind, then the result is unlikely to please. Alas, you have to throw away your favorite thing ... or not?

Yes, there is a simple but ingenious way, by applying which you will forget about the annoying incident. And, for him, you do not need to get the thread. What will be required:

  • the affected thing with a hole (not bad if the hole is small, somewhere up to 0.5 mm);
  • iron;
  • ironing board;
  • parchment paper;
  • special spray gun, with water;
  • white cloth;
  • gossamer tape, it is taken for gluing fabric;
  • thin interlining (adhesive).

Procedure:

First, carefully spread the parchment on top of the board. He will protect her from the consequences of the "experiment".


Now carefully turn the affected item inside out and place it on top of the sheet on the board. Bring the edges of the hole tighter so that they touch and the hole disappears.


Cut off a piece of gossamer tape, which is used to glue pieces of fabric (it is easy to find in specialized fabric stores). Put it more tightly on the hole, and put a piece of adhesive interlining on top (buy it in the same place where you took the gossamer tape).


Set the iron (if available) to the "Wool" setting. Now lay a piece of ordinary, white fabric on top of the thing, trying not to touch the patches. Spray it with a spray bottle. Remember the place where the patch is located under the fabric and place an already heated iron on it.

Install it, don't drive it, otherwise you can shift the patches. Just hold it for 10-15 seconds. Do not be afraid, the fabric will not burn through, especially if the iron is a modern model.


After removing the iron, carefully remove the white cloth, then turn the affected item inside out. Check how the threads stuck together that were around the hole. If unsuccessful, repeat the manipulation.


The method is simple, beginners usually spend 10 minutes. But when the technology is known, it takes much less time. Moreover, this method is considered more effective than darning. It is faster and, most importantly, a sealed hole is difficult to notice, even if the affected item is light in color. Sometimes it's hard to believe that there was a hole at all!
