What socks does a newborn need in a maternity hospital. What to take with you to the hospital? A complete and detailed list of things in the hospital. Generalized list of things prohibited in the hospital

The documents:
  • passport;
  • medical insurance policy (compulsory medical insurance or voluntary medical insurance) (if you make a photocopy of your passport and policy, the hospital staff will be very grateful to you);
  • exchange card of a pregnant woman;
  • referral to the maternity hospital (agreement with the maternity hospital or doctor);
  • birth certificate (issued in the antenatal clinic, if not, then it will be issued in the maternity hospital after childbirth);
  • insurance certificate of state pension insurance (where SNILS is indicated).

Mobile phone and charger(if allowed).

Postpartum Padding and Fixation Shorts Increasingly, padding and fixation shorts have begun to appear on the mandatory lists for childbirth. If these items are not on your list and they are not useful in the maternity ward, then in the postpartum ward they will definitely be needed. After all, a baby can be born at night, and things for the postpartum department can only be handed over to you in the morning.

Snack. Childbirth is a rather long and energy-consuming process, so after childbirth, most women have a strong desire to refresh themselves or at least drink a cup of sweet tea, sometimes doctors themselves recommend eating something. It's great if right after you are transferred to the postpartum department, you can have a snack in the dining room or your loved ones will give you some gifts. But it may happen that the baby wants to be born at night, and the dining room is already closed and the transfer can be given to you only in the morning, so be sure to put your handbag in a small but very tasty snack.

Cotton socks The experience of most women in labor suggests that due to a surge in hormone levels after childbirth, feet can be very cold, even if the room is warm, which is why socks for childbirth are included in most of the mandatory lists in the maternity hospital.

Things for dad. It should be noted that if you are planning a joint childbirth with your husband, you need to prepare things for the future dad. To attend the birth, your spouse must have the following documents on hand:

All things should be pre-washed, ironed on both sides and put into a separate bag.

To ensure that all the necessary things for the maternity ward are always at hand, they should be put in a plastic (washable) bag or a special transparent bag for the prenatal ward.

The first childbirth is the most indescribable sensation! Preparing for them is an exciting and touching event. Everyone has ever faced the difficulty of choosing - what does a baby need, a mother in a maternity hospital, for discharge?
What is necessary?

List of things in the hospital.

Pack your things in advance - you may not have time to look for things. Contractions
may start unexpectedly, and you will not even have enough time to get together, and this may
only aggravate your nervousness. Collect all your belongings in a bag and put it in a specific place. Contact the hospital where you intend to give birth. The list needs to be coordinated. Different maternity hospitals have different conditions and their own rules.

When you ride the contractions ambulance, you will need (and will be allowed to leave):

Passport,
policy,
exchange card,
money;
telephone,
(you should always carry these above things from the 8th month of pregnancy with you wherever you go!) In some maternity hospitals, it is impossible to bring either a telephone or money for childbirth.
slippers (better washable),
warm socks (so that the feet do not freeze, sometimes shivers during childbirth). It is also impossible or possible))).
You will be given a spacious shirt (you don't mind getting blood stained).
After giving birth, your loving relatives should bring you the following things:
phone charging,
money, incl. pocket money for tips to nannies, bribes to security,
possible gifts honey. staff,
notebook and pen,
pads (special postpartum, or night 6 drops with a soft (non-mesh) surface), or urological pads will save.
a nightgown or a spacious T-shirt (with a large neckline or buttons in front, so that it is convenient to reach the breast for nursing), in the maternity hospital only local people may be allowed to use.
dressing gown (in principle, in the hospital you can be given a state dressing gown),
5 pairs of underpants (inexpensive underpants that you don't mind getting dirty and throwing away or special disposable ones), disposable suits me.
postpartum bandage, I chose in advance-sooo tight, for better tightening, but unfortunately I could not put it on in the first 4 days due to episiotomy.
nursing bra or seamless bra made of stretch fabric,
bra pads,
comb,
bath towel,
face towel,
a bottle of water (Attention! After giving birth, before the arrival of milk, you should not drink a lot, it is necessary to limit fluids as much as possible, especially on the 3rd day, when milk comes from most women, otherwise you can get hyperlactation!),
cream for stitches that relieves pain (for example, Traumeel), cream for cracked nipples (for example, Bepanten, Purelan, Solcoseryl, you can lubricate your own breast milk),
laxative candles glycerin-ideal,
books on breastfeeding and newborn care - if there is time: -D I DIDN'T HAVE,
camera (camera),

hygiene and cosmetics products:
toilet paper (the softest you can find),
baby soap in a soap dish,
hygienic lipstick,
a toothbrush (preferably in a case),
Toothpaste,
shampoo (preferably in disposable sachets),
deodorant- without smell,
face cream (tonic, milk),
handkerchiefs,
decorative cosmetics (for taking pictures on the day of discharge. Be sure to take a foundation - for bruises under the eyes from the first sleepless nights);

products:

Apples of green varieties (for example, Semirenko),
bananas,
juices (green apples),
diet yoghurts,
low-fat cottage cheese,
kefir,
cup, teaspoon, knife, plate,
for baby:
a pack of diapers for newborns 2-5 kg, wet wipes (just in case, although it is better to wash the baby's ass with plain water under the tap), baby soap, baby cream, cotton wool (wash the baby's eyes), oilcloth. In our maternity hospital, we were given about 1 diapers per day. But you could always ask for more. That is, the diapers are NOT YOUR OWN. But again, find out about your maternity hospital in advance.

For discharge from the hospital:

for the kid:
cotton bodysuit (or undershirt, although this is the last century),
cotton jumpsuit (or blouse + sliders),
cotton hat (or cap),
socks,
a blanket with a duvet cover (or an envelope for a statement, or an envelope with a zipper that transforms into a blanket),
1 cold diaper (chintz),
1 warm diaper (flannel),
warm outdoor jumpsuit (just in case),
car seat for a car (category 0+ from birth - to ensure the safety of transporting an infant in a car).

your clothes for leaving the hospital:

Skirt (preferred over trousers so as not to disturb the crotch),
a blouse or jacket (which can be unbuttoned in the car if the baby wants to eat on the way),
underwear,
outdoor footwear (don't forget).

Dowry. What to buy for a newborn?

You have read a lot of literature, visited all the children's stores. I want to buy, if not everything, then almost everything. Let's try to figure out what you really need ... To the list of what you can buy in advance we include a baby stroller, a crib, a mattress in the crib, a set of bed linen and bumpers. It is important to think about where you will change your baby's clothes and store his things. These functions are successfully combined in a special chest of drawers.
Of course, any mother will decide herself with the list of children's cosmetics.
Now let's decide on the clothes. General words and recommendations.

The ratio of light to warm clothing will vary with the season. For home you will need 2-3 bodysuits, 3-4 pairs of light and insulated sliders, blouses. Many mothers prefer overalls. Do not forget about 3-4 pairs of socks or booties. Caps, hats - their number is determined by the season. Most likely, a pair of light and insulated ones will be enough. If desired, you can purchase anti-scratch gloves - I didn't need it.
For sleep - a blanket, blanket or envelope. We choose the material according to the season.
For walks, you can purchase a jumpsuit (according to the season), an envelope, or replace it with a blanket. A few general notes:
Best used - white, light colored things. Bright red, pink stuff
shed when washing. All bright things (blue, red) cannot be washed with
white, and it's a pity to turn on the machine for one tiny colored thing ... I wash everything together and does not fade.
Buttons are preferable to buttons - buttons are more difficult and longer to fasten, and the baby can accidentally tear them off and send them unnoticed into his mouth ...
Underwear should be natural, made of cotton. Sweatshirts and overalls, worn on top, can be with acrylic.

The minimum required list of clothes for a newborn:
Body 2 pieces of the same size,
Overalls cotton underwear (slips) 2 pieces of the same size,
Knitted hat,
1 pair of thin socks,
1 pair of terry socks,
Diapers 2 thin, 2 thick. knitted - the-best!

Bodysuits are the most comfortable underwear for a baby. The best are bodysuits that wrap around like a kimono (I liked the buttons on the front more). They are not worn over the head and therefore do not cause any outrage in the baby. And if the diaper leaks, it is convenient to quickly remove them.
But most often there are bodysuits that are fastened on the shoulder with a button. There are also bodysuits that simply fold over the shoulder, it is not very comfortable, the neckline quickly stretches and a “neckline” is formed, which has to be sewn up or buttons put on.
When buying a bodysuit, there is a chance to buy one size smaller, since the diaper adds one size.

Overalls, cotton or knitted, fastened with buttons from bottom to top - the second wonderful thing. It is convenient to put them on like sweaters - in the sleeves and then fasten the buttons in the front. Overalls with legs (i.e. with closed legs) are best. If the jumpsuit is too big, wear socks on top.

Knitted hat - fits well on the head and looks modern. By the way, in a room at a temperature of 20 degrees or more, the head of a newborn baby should always be open, without caps, since in newborns thermoregulation is carried out through the head, and the wearing cap breaks it! The hat is put on indoors only after swimming for a while.
When buying a hat, pay attention to where the seam is, it should not interfere with a child lying in a stroller, for example, 3 hours on a walk. I liked hats with a string or strings more

Socks are best those that are difficult for a child to remove: high, but not too tight, so as not to squeeze the leg - this is important for older children.

Diapers are enough 3 thin calico, 3 thick flannel. If you are not going to swaddle, they will come in handy as sheets, bedding, for example, for examinations in the clinic.
If you are going to swaddle a baby, purchase 2 knitted swaddles. They stretch and wrap the baby very comfortably. I did not have. Perhaps another time I would have acquired ...
For walks "with a bare bottom", it is advisable to purchase a pack of disposable diapers. I would recommend 3-5 knitted and a pair of flannel. and disposable, for these very examinations, airings, etc.

Sleep and safety, storage and leisure

1. Bed (2 levels, a descending front wall, a lock so that it does not
could be opened by a child, an overlay so that the child does not gnaw the railing)
2. Mattress in the crib (must exactly match the size of the crib,
there are orthopedic, coconut and foam rubber, removable cover so that you can
was washed). We have a coconut latex mattress.
3. Biker blanket - 1 pc.
4. Bed linen set - 2 pcs. (respectively, according to the size of the mattress
and blankets) Ideally, the sheets should be elastic.
5. Changing table / chest of drawers / pad for changing the bed
6. Bumper on the crib (bumper) - choose dim, not too colorful
colors and pictures on the bumper (by the way, this also applies to bedding
linen). For bed - everything is in pastels (sorry for the pun): bright colors,
firstly, they will prevent the child from falling asleep, attracting his attention, and secondly
(more importantly) can cause poor visual abnormalities
(the child actually constantly "squints" at bright spots, as our
pediatrician). Canopy - a must if you want to over the face of the child
a large dusty rag was constantly hanging: -D
7. Baby monitor (video baby monitor) - at first glance, a whim and a waste of money. But
if possible - buy or, even better, order as
a gift (from colleagues, girlfriends, relatives, etc.). And you won't have to accept
shower with an open door, nervously listening to the sound from the room
rustling, on the other hand, you can calmly listen to music, watch
TV, you can work in another room (in the kitchen) without fear
put a stroller with a child on the balcony or under an apple tree in the country, calmly
going about their business while the child sleeps ...
8. Mobile. It is possible with black and white toys, you can do it yourself, it is better to have them in the amount of 2, and a couple of light rattles to put in the handle. Both the mobile and the rattles will be in demand at least one month after birth.

Walk.
1. Stroller.
2. An envelope on a sheepskin the size of a stroller is a very useful thing, it is used
not only in cradles, but also later, in strollers (like a cavity -
to keep the legs warm). or a downy envelope for winter
3. Stroller rain cover
4. Mosquito net for strollers - for summer
5. Car seat 0 + or a set of safety in the cradle (if you have a car and are planning a trip and not only).

Care items.

1. Oilcloth / waterproof sheet - 1-2 pcs. I had a waterproof sheet-thing!* THUMBS UP *
2. Towel for bathing with a hood - 2 pcs. (but you can get by with the usual
large flannel diapers - they are good for getting the baby's body wet)
3. Bath + ladle - in my opinion, NOT needed if your own bath
and a shower in a normal sanitary condition :))) Do not deprive your baby
the joy of bathing and don't turn bathing into an adult wash with a huge
the amount of cosmetics. In addition, the obligatory daily
bathing for 20-25 minutes, with swimming, games, gymnastics, with
with ears in the water is a way to involve PAPU in the process of caring for a child. One
pulling this (without pulling the back) is difficult, but with the participation of the dad - very
even fun, such a family ritual :)
4. Thermometer for air / water
5. Scissors for children 6. Comb-comb for combing off crusts (we were presented with two: World of Childhood -
terrible, I had to give my niece for the dolls, Chicco - all combed for one
time, draw conclusions ...)
7. Children's cosmetics - Choose something, if it fits - use and
do not fool yourself that there is something better.
- protective diaper cream OR powder
- moisturizing milk - on the body (legs and arms often peel off)
- wet wipes
- bathing gel (convenient - for body and hair at the same time, with dispenser Do not pour into bathing water, but apply to the body after swimming, in the very
end!
- baby soap
8. Breast pump
9. Bottles 125 ml - 2 pcs. Until you decide on feeding, enough, and
then buy in addition - just like a sterilizer, heater and other attributes
IV.
10. Pacifiers for newborns - 2 pcs. we didn't need it at all... nipple clip - 1 pc.
11. Powder (or gel) for washing children's clothes + conditioner

CLOTHES. Detailed list.

1. Warm diapers (flannel) - 5 pcs.,
2. Thin diapers - 5 pcs. (provided that you do not swaddle, diapers
useful for laying on a table, getting wet after bathing or
washing, put on your shoulder if the child spits up, etc.)
I had 7 thin and 10 flannel. She hardly swaddled. But! this amount of diapers allowed me to wash them every 2 days.

3. Knitted bodysuits with long sleeves - 5 pcs. Of which: 2 pcs.
- 56 sizes, 3 pcs. - 62 sizes. As you grow up, replace the retired
items of clothing for the same larger size. By the way, the bodies that have become small
can be worn without buttoning the bottom for air baths (airing the priests).

4. Knitted pants without shoulder straps, with a wide loose elastic band - 5 pcs. From
them: 2 pcs. - 56 sizes, 3 pcs. - 62 sizes
Either (if you like it better)
3. Blouses with buttons - 5 pcs. (I didn't like the wraparound sweaters,
shirt type is better). Of which: 2 pcs. - 56 sizes, 3 pcs. - 62 sizes.
4. Sliders with straps - 5 pcs. Of which: 2 pcs. - 56 sizes, 3 pcs. - 62
size.
Let me explain: strap sliders are less practical, since a child is
grows faster (besides, the patterns are often not designed for a diaper), but with
they can wear blouses that will bully if you put them on
with regular pants. So choose: either bodysuit + pants or
blouse + romper with straps
5. Socks - 3-4 pairs. If it's warm at home, body + socks are a great pair!
The main thing is not to slip and be tight enough, but not tight
(pay special attention to the elastic bands). Girls can have 2 pairs, boys
the consumption of socks increases during air baths :)))
6. Cotton jumpsuits knitted with buttons from top to bottom or with a fastener
back, "slips" - 3 pcs., of which 1 - 56 sizes, 2 - 62 sizes. I dressed in
their son after bathing for a night's sleep - freely, comfortably, will not freeze if
will open up. Many wear them during the day, but they are closer to me like pajamas - at least
because it is more convenient to change in bodysuits and diapers (during the day it happens more often),
and wash away the ass.
7. Cotton knitted cap - 2 pcs. Only after swimming, no more than
an hour, but for a walk in the summer (if it's cool or in the evening).
8. Overalls for walking velor - 2 pcs. or velor (1 pc.) +
woolen (1 piece), size 62-68. No, child in velor (high quality, 80% -
cotton, 20% - PA!) does not resist, I answer potential critics. Put on
under a warm overalls in the cold season and independently - in a cool season
late spring / summer / early fall weather.
9. The overalls are warm for walking. Adjust for climate, month
birth, etc. For example, it is convenient for summer kids to buy 1 good jumpsuit
size 68 on a thin padding polyester or thin down, with a breathable top layer,
with a hood, two zippers and put it on like in the fall (covering the baby in
stroller with a blanket), and in winter (putting in a fur envelope-bag on
the size of the stroller, with zippers on the sides). It will come in handy for autumn-winter kids
in winter (with a fur envelope) and in spring (as a separate dish :))
10 Warm hat for walking - 1 pc.
11. Bibs, anti-scratches, booties and other trifles. Maybe it will come in handy. But
equally likely not. :)
12. Cotton blanket thin, the size of a large diaper - 2 pcs. My alternative
swaddling, when the child cannot fall asleep (not to sleep, namely to fall asleep), interfering
handles yourself. I did not tightly wrap my son in such a plaid before going to bed,
rocked and laid right in him, no longer covered with a blanket - falling asleep, he
freed his hands and slept stretched out. In addition, it is used as:
bedding, blanket in the stroller, blanket in the crib, blanket in the car, etc.

Thus, from the listed elements, a good WARDROBE is made
for a baby with a washing frequency of 1 time in 2-3 days (for newborns),
the same amount will be enough for an older child when washing every 3-4 days.
How to dress?
AT HOME:
cold (below 18 degrees): bodysuit + jumpsuit slip + booties
normal / warm (18-23 degrees): body + pants
warm / hot (above 23 degrees): body + socks
for the night: jumpsuit slip
STROLL:
summer (hot) - bodysuit with short sleeves + socks, very small -
light blanket
summer (warm / windy) long sleeve bodysuit
summer (cool / damp) - bodysuit + pants + velor jumpsuit, plaid
autumn / spring (you are already in a coat or still in a coat) - bodysuit + pants + velor
jumpsuit + warm jumpsuit, plaid
autumn / winter (frost!) - bodysuit + pants + velor jumpsuit + warm jumpsuit,
fur envelope.

The consumption of disposable diapers in the first days is high: on average, every 2-3
hours. It takes 8-10 pieces per day. But do not skimp on diapers (their
quantity and quality)! Diaper rash and irritation - the trouble of many newborns
kids!

BASIC PRINCIPLES OF PURCHASING THINGS

1. Less is better! no need to buy a lot of cheap calico
(bike) undershirts, blouses, sliders, etc. You will not recognize them after
wash in twisted cloths that have shrunk in three sizes and you will be doomed
for eternal ironing (and your time is more expensive - nothing teaches you to appreciate
time, like the first months of motherhood). Quality cotton jersey is the best
friend of the girl :) And forget these horror stories about the seams, which are necessary
should be outside, about multilayer clothes a la white cabbage and
etc. Good knitwear does not require ironing, will survive an infinite number
washes, does not sit down, is easy to put on (take off) and has a lot of other
merits.
2. Buttons will save nerve cells - yours, your child's, and your neighbors'! And no
strings, buttons, zippers, etc. I think there is no need to explain.
3. Movement is life! And moving in a hundred clothes is problematic. And still in the heat
and do not want to, and, besides, overheating the baby is harmful. Therefore, at
temperature from 20 to 23 degrees (this is the mode we usually maintain
in living quarters) one layer of clothing will be sufficient. If in
the room is warmer, then it is no longer warm, but hot, and something needs to be done - either
actively ventilate the room, or undress the child. And freed from
use the resources to purchase heaters and fan heaters
a good humidifier.
4. Everything should be fine in a child. And a child's feeling of beauty
must be developed from early childhood. Some moms believe, not without reason, that poisonous green romper with pink dots will cause irreparable damage.
the aesthetic sense of not only the mother, but also the baby dressed as a clown.
Therefore, when choosing colors, imagine what and how you will combine. AND
it is not at all necessary to follow the dull Soviet tradition, stubbornly dressing up
a boy in blue, and a girl in pink. There are many other colors :)
5 .. Respect the size, but remember that manufacturers often do not
respect. From the one bought in Moscow, I trust the following scheme: 56 - from 0 to 1
months, 62 - 1-3 months, 68 - 3-6 months, 74 - 6-9 months and next
manufacturers: Mothercare, Albimini, C&A (these are adult clothing stores, but
they have departments for children of all ages - by the way, European brands are
often practice).
6. They don't look a gift horse in the mouth - you don't want to remember this
folk wisdom, looking at the pile of things bought without your participation? If
you yourself will not implement the principles outlined above by following the ridiculous
medieval superstition that forbids the expectant mother to collect a dowry for
baby, you will sadly observe from the window of the maternity hospital how they
to the contrary, your volunteers (husband, mother, mother-in-law and
NS.).

Collected from many forums and personal observation.

In some maternity hospitals it is allowed, and in some it is even obligatory to bring things for the baby. Especially so that you don't have to worry about what kind of clothes the baby will need in the maternity hospital, we have collected a ready-made set of clothes for a newborn. This set includes everything you need for a maternity hospital and for the first time at home. The set is packed in a convenient transparent bag. The items included in the set are made of 100% cotton, almost all clothes are made with seams on the outside. Inside the bag you will find a special transparent bag with a zip-strip for the delivery room, in which you can separately pack your baby's belongings in the delivery room. All clothes in the set are 56 sizes and are designed for babies from the first days to 3 months. You can choose for whom you need a set - for a boy, for a girl or a universal one.

For the birthplace:

Undershirt with closed handles and outward seams (if your maternity hospital requires a slip-on overalls, you can replace the undershirt with the overalls from the set), 1 pc.

A cap with ties and seams outward (if your hospital requires a cap without ties, you can replace the cap with a cap from the set), 1 pc.

Diaper size 90 by 120, 1 piece

Diaper Merries, 1 piece

The delivery kit comes in a special transparent bag with a ZIP-zipper and a writing strip.

A set of clothes for the postpartum department and after discharge includes:

Jumpsuit with buttons along the entire length and seams outward with closed handles, 1 piece

Jumpsuit with buttons with open handles, 1 piece

Bodysuit with buttons with long sleeves, 1 pc.

Bodysuit with short sleeves (or without sleeves), 1 piece

Sliders with wide elastic band, 1 pc.

Changing cocoon with zipper, 1 pc.

Bonnet with ties, seams outward, 2 pcs.

Hat, 2 pcs.

Scratches (mittens), 2 pairs

Thin socks for newborns, 2 pairs

Warm socks for newborns, 1 pair

Warm diaper (flannel) 90 x 120, 1 pc.

Thin diaper (coarse calico) 90 x 120, 1 piece

Soft diaper for wiping 90 x 120 (in the maternity hospital, after washing the baby, you will need to wipe him), 1 pc.

Undershirt (or blouse), 2 pcs.

As a result, you get 4 sets of clothes and 4 sets of swaddling clothes. This amount is enough not only for 3-4 days of stay in the hospital, but also for the first time after discharge. The set includes a variety of clothes, this is a bodysuit with sliders and overalls with a blouse, thanks to which, without purchasing a large amount of clothes, you can understand what suits you and your baby.

Before the first use, all items must be washed with a special children's detergent and ironed.

Attention, colors or drawings may differ from the photo, the kit will be selected based on the availability in stock !!!

When buying a set for a newborn, a cute rattle toy for a baby as a gift !!!

The due date is approaching, and the expectant mother begins to get ready for the hospital. It is better to prepare everything you need in advance than not to put something in a hurry, and then get upset. Until the exciting moment comes, let's find out what to take to the hospital to feel comfortable there. The list consists of the necessary things and documents. Let's conditionally divide it into three bags: for childbirth, after childbirth and for the baby. The fourth bag, intended for discharge, can be collected, both for admission to a medical facility, and brought by relatives at the time of discharge from it.

It is advisable to put things for the baby in a separate bag or even ask relatives to bring them after childbirth

Which bag should you put your things in?

According to the sanitary norms and rules (SanPin), it is forbidden to take bags made of leather, fabric or wicker to the maternity hospital. Such materials can spread germs and viruses. It is advisable to pack things in plastic bags. The bag should also be transparent so as not to delve into it for a long time in search of the right thing. The hypothetical "three bags" cannot be taken literally. The staff of the institution is unlikely to allow you to bring 3-4 trunks.

Stock up on one roomy bag, put all the prepared things in it, breaking them into sectors so that you know where what lies. By the way, you can purchase a ready-made bag in the store if you find one that suits you. If you or one of your relatives knows how to sew, make your own version of the "emergency suitcase" for the woman in labor. For some moms, ordinary plastic bags with handles are quite enough.

What documents do I need to take with me?

Having been observed by a doctor during the entire period of pregnancy, you have acquired a large number of medical documents and certificates. Some of them should be taken to a medical facility. Starting from 32 weeks, make it a rule for yourself to carry documents with you - the period set by the doctor may change at the request of your baby. If all goes well, by week 36, go shopping, pack a "disturbing suitcase" with things. Put the following documents in it:

  • passport;
  • exchange card of a pregnant woman with complete information about the course of pregnancy and test results;
  • medical insurance policy, which gives the right to medical care;
  • if you have a contract with a medical institution, make sure to put it in;
  • receipts for payment for a separate ward and for joint delivery, if you decide to use these services.

The exchange card will give the obstetrician all the information about the course of pregnancy, therefore, at a later date, you must carry it with you at all times

By the way, about joint childbirth. Your significant other also needs documents. Doctors will require your husband's passport and health certificate. This is done for the safety of the baby.

Calculate the amount of money you may need to buy a medicine or pay for services. Put large and small bills in your wallet. Realizing that the moment a new person is born is an unpredictable business, be sure to keep your mobile phone in your purse or pocket in order to quickly call an ambulance and notify your family.

What things to prepare for childbirth?

The list of items that will come in handy during childbirth is not long. The service regulations in the maternity hospital imply the provision of the necessary clothing to women in labor, however, you can take washable slippers. However, each obstetric institution sets its own rules, you better find out about their existence in advance. In theory, you should collect:

  • nightgown (loose fit);
  • drinking water (1 liter or more if you feel like it);
  • towel (you can have two);
  • baby soap (liquid);
  • disposable toilet seats;
  • warm socks (not wool);
  • you can grab a camcorder or photo camera if you want to save a joyful historical event in the life of your family on them.

Add to the bag with your belongings and equipment for the newborn, which will be worn by the staff of the institution after childbirth. Some establishments use their own baby diapers for changing the baby. Find out this question in advance - you may not have to collect an outfit for a newborn, only for discharge. Stock up on the following:

  • undershirt, bodysuit or blouse;
  • diaper;
  • you can put sliders;
  • cap.

Some maternity hospitals provide their own diapers and clothes for the newborn - this issue needs to be clarified in advance

Mothers who are going to give birth for the first time often wonder if they can bring food with them. Believe me - giving birth, you will definitely forget about any food. If you want to take something for a snack, you can stock up on dried candied fruits or fruits, cookies, crackers. Boiled eggs and broth will do. Do not overload your emergency suitcase so that you cannot lift it.

Checklist for mom after childbirth

After giving birth, mom spends about 3-5 days with her little treasure in the hospital. What to collect for this period, what items will be appropriate for a nursing mother? List some wardrobe items. Be sure to put in the products that you use for personal hygiene. Stock up on water and food you ate before giving birth. If you want to look attractive - grab a cosmetic bag, but be sure to read our additional explanations in a separate review block. We have prepared the necessary list for you.

clothing

  • Clean nightgown, bathrobe, slippers. Choose a cutout model for comfortable breastfeeding. Some maternity facilities provide their own clothing, please ask in advance. Put on two pairs of warm socks if you're giving birth in winter.
  • You need a special bra for breastfeeding, equipped with detachable nipple pockets on the nipples. Such a product will provide you with comfortable feeding of your baby.
  • If the hospital does not issue underwear, take disposable underpants (cotton, 3-5 pieces) and postpartum pads.
  • You will also need pads under the bra, which perfectly absorb leaking milk. If they are not taken, all clothes will be stained, which acidify and begin to smell bad.
  • Take care of your figure - grab it.

Using a bandage immediately after childbirth will help you restore your figure faster.

Hygiene products

  • The usual set for daily care: toothbrush, shampoo, soap, body care cream, deodorant (roll-on), shower gel (see also:). Disposable toilet seats. Mothers who ended up in labor with sutures may ask a loved one to bring them the softest grade of toilet paper.
  • The remedy against. Choose one that does not require rinsing. Cracks appear in many mothers and cause pain when feeding. The cause is improper attachment of the newborn to the breast. Buy Bepanten or D-Panthenol cream.
  • Glycerin candles. Helps with stool problems.

Food, cutlery, leisure items

The items presented in this section may not be taken with you on the day of admission to the hospital. Any of them can be reported to you by relatives when visiting. Utensils can be limited to a mug and a teaspoon. You can make notes on your cell phone. We have compiled an approximate list:

The question about medicines is often asked. A maternity hospital is a medical facility where you can be given any remedy for headaches, nausea, or more serious medication if needed. Mothers who know that they will have a cesarean section should check the list of necessary medications with the doctors of the maternity hospital or perinatal center.

Additional explanations of important items

We will answer the questions that inevitably arise from mothers going to the hospital. People often ask about pads, wondering which ones are best for postpartum hygiene. Pharmacies offer special post-natal pads, which may be called post-operative or urologic. Made from a material that absorbs moisture as much as possible. One package is enough. If you think you can get by with regular "night" pads, take them.

When choosing a bathrobe, find out if the institution is issuing sterile items of clothing from the government. If you can bring your own clothes, choose a lightweight cotton robe with a zipper or a wrap-around one - these clothes will not restrict your movements and will ensure comfortable breastfeeding. It is desirable that the product has pockets for various women's little things (hairpin, hairpin, hair tie, handkerchief, telephone).

In listing things, we talked about soap. Do not use a lot of detergents. You can take liquid baby soap with you, which will be enough for both you and your baby.

There is one more nuance and it is connected with the recommendations of doctors. Doctors advise a woman who has given birth to wash her genitals with laundry soap. Please note that the procedure should be superficial. Wash the outer seams and surface of the body with soap, never use it to wash the interior. Lye, which is part of laundry soap, negatively affects the vaginal mucosa, especially when it is inflamed or damaged during childbirth.

Ordinary laundry soap is perfect for intimate hygiene of a woman in labor.

List of things for a newborn

Collecting clothes and accessories for a newborn is the most enjoyable moment for a mom. Sorting through children's clothes, she lives in anticipation of immense happiness. An approximate list looks like this:

  • ... Product size 0 or 1 (by weight 2-5 or 3-6 kg). A pack of 28 is enough.
  • The soap is, of course, baby. You can take a liquid one, for a solid one, grab a soap dish.
  • Cotton wool hygienic products (discs, sticks with a stopper). It will be needed to clean the ears and nose of the crumbs, to lubricate the umbilical wound.
  • Wet baby wipes or disposable handkerchiefs.
  • ... Since you cannot predict the baby's reaction to the remedy, take the cream in a small tube.
  • ... As a rule, they are issued in maternity hospitals. If you think you trust your own things more, take 2 of cotton and 2 of flannel (size - 60x90). Allow financial opportunities - buy disposable diapers.
  • Soft towel.
  • Undershirts, blouses, bodysuits. Choose models with outside seams. Take them at the rate of one for each day, about 4-5 pieces.
  • If the sleeves on the wrists are open, put on anti-scratch mittens.
  • Cotton romper or overalls, 4-5 pieces.
  • Cotton or flannel cap - the choice of fabric depends on the season. Buy 2 pieces of the same size.

Let's take a closer look at diapers. Doubts about their number, size, brands torment many young mothers. Forget about gauze, reusable diapers and diapers right away, stop only on disposable diapers. Choose a brand according to your own taste, the quantity - limit yourself to a small package. Buy what you like, but based on our recommendations. When you return home with your child, pick up better diapers.

For the maternity hospital, disposable diapers are perfect, which you can choose to your taste

What things to take for discharge from the hospital?

The selection of things for discharge from the hospital depends on the season. Most of all, women are worried about the outfit of a newborn.

Summer

In the summer, you can get by with a cap, undershirt or a light blouse and sliders. Additionally, wrap the baby in a thin blanket or envelope. For a trip in a car, put on a cotton jumpsuit for your baby.

Autumn / Spring

A joyful event happened in the off-season - navigate with the outfit for the baby according to the weather. Choose a demi-season jumpsuit for your baby, wearing warm underwear under it. If you are discharging in early winter or spring, use the cold season set we described above. The main thing is not to tangle the newborn so that he does not overheat, stick to a reasonable decision.

Winter

Now let's see what needs to be taken for a baby born in winter. Add a warm hat, an insulated envelope or overalls (preferably a transformer) to the summer set of underwear. It is better to transport the baby in the car in outer clothing, since it is difficult to thread the belts of the infant car seat under a blanket or envelope. Remember - the rules for transporting children in a car require the use of a special car seat. Sliders, a vest and a cap that are worn under outerwear, take flannel.

Mom's clothes should be comfortable and appropriate for the weather. It’s unlikely that you will be able to easily squeeze yourself into jeans that you wore before pregnancy. The belly has not left without a trace yet and tight clothing will cause you discomfort, even if it fits. Choose loose clothing for your own outfit: a skirt, dress, cardigan, sundress. Take shoes with or without a small heel. Let them bring the cosmetic bag from home - you want to be beautiful in memorable photos.

What should not be brought to the hospital?

Remember that your stay in the hospital is limited to 3-5 days. There is no need to pack as if you are going to the sea for a month. Decorative cosmetics is a matter of child safety. Contact with a baby who has just come into this world should be absolutely safe for him. Powder, eye shadow, lipstick can get on the baby's body and cause allergies. The most you can afford is to tint your eyelashes a little.

Strong fragrances should not be used. The baby should feel the smell of the mother, which he recognizes as dear and protective. Feeling the natural maternal aroma, the baby sleeps calmly, eats well, comfortably gets used to the new environment for him. Forget about the pacifier if you plan to breastfeed your baby. A nipple in the hospital is an extra accessory. The baby sucks well and is quite happy.

The thrill of childbirth is familiar to most women. Experiencing and rejoicing at the same time, you are preparing for the greatest sacrament. Practicality is good and you will of course take all the essentials with you. However, the most important thing that you will bring to the hospital is a great love for the one who should be born. We wish you the easiest birth, so that your treasure will be born healthy and strong.
