How to feed a child a year: menus, recipes. What can not be given to a one-year-old baby? Fish soup with meatballs

Mothers know that a balanced diet is the key to the good development and well-being of the baby. For an infant, breast milk is the best food, but as the child grows, more and more variety in his diet needs to be.

For many families, the transitional period is the baby's one-year-old age. At this age, some children already calmly refuse to breastfeed, but even if the mother continues to feed, all the same, breast milk is no longer the main product, but an addition. Let's figure out how to feed a one-year-old child.

If the mother introduced complementary foods in a timely manner, then by the year the baby is already familiar with a fairly wide range of products. When answering the question of how many times a day to feed a one-year-old child, pediatricians recommend focusing on the needs of the baby himself. Usually, 5 meals are left by this age: in addition to the usual breakfast, lunch and dinner for adults, two more snacks are introduced - second breakfast and afternoon tea.

The daily serving volume for a one-year-old child is 1-1.2 liters, the intervals between feedings should not exceed 4 hours.

Many mothers ask if a one-year-old baby needs to be fed at night? At this age, night feeding is not mandatory, but if the child is used to it, he may wake up and demand food. It is advisable to wean from night feedings, preferably from the age of 6-8 months, but if this has not been done, it is not too late to start weaning now.

What to feed?

The menu of a one-year-old child is already quite diverse. In the morning it is worth offering him porridge, the serving volume is 150-200 ml. You can use any cereals for cooking cereals, rice, buckwheat, oatmeal, wheat, corn are suitable.

Sometimes you can give semolina, now among young mothers there is an opinion that semolina is a useless and even harmful product. In fact, this is not so, you just do not need to replace all other cereals with it, as was customary before. A 5 gram piece of butter is added to the porridge, berries, fruits can be added if there is no allergic reaction. A good addition to porridge is pumpkin, especially with a tendency to constipation. The pumpkin must first be boiled (you can steam it) and cut into small pieces or beat with a blender.

Variety for breakfast instead of porridge, you can offer a steamed omelette. Such a breakfast can be supplemented with a sandwich with butter and cheese. As a drink for the morning meal, they offer tea, compote, jelly, fruit drink.

For second breakfast give kefir with cookies, fruits in pieces or in the form of mashed potatoes.

Dinner you should start with a small portion of vegetable salad seasoned with vegetable oil or sour cream. For salad, you can use cucumbers, cabbage, carrots and other vegetables.

At first, you should give soup: vegetable or milk. Just do not get carried away with soups with pasta (milk noodles, etc.), they should be given more than once a week or less.
For the second, you can give a meat dish with vegetable puree. By the year, a variety of vegetables can be included in the menu, it is only important not to get carried away with mashed potatoes because of the high content of starch in it. The meat component can be presented in the form of mashed potatoes or meatballs, steamed cutlets. If there is no allergy, you should regularly give sea fish, giving preference to low-fat varieties (cod, hake, etc.). For dessert, they offer juice or compote.

What can be done for an afternoon snack? You can give cottage cheese or a casserole from it. You can also give fruits (in pieces or in the form of mashed potatoes), cookies in a small amount.

Dishes for dinner should be satisfying, but at the same time, not overloading the digestive system. You can offer a dish of meat and vegetables or vegetables and cereals. Moms can come up with recipes for various options for vegetable stews and casseroles themselves, based on the taste preferences of their baby.

Before bedtime the child is given either breast milk or baby kefir.

What should not be given?

At the age of one, a child can not be given all the products from an adult table. No matter how much you would like to treat the baby (usually older relatives sin), the diet of a one-year-old child should not include:

  • sweets, cakes, chocolate and other confectionery delights;
  • sausages, canned food (except for children), smoked meats;
  • fish caviar;
  • mushrooms;
  • industrial semi-finished products.

If there is a desire to pamper the baby with something sweet, it is better to offer him some marshmallow or jam, but do not give sweets and cakes.

Non-standard situations

If there is a need to take a child somewhere on a train or plane, the issue of food on the road will need to be thought out in advance. The best option for this case would be ready-made baby food of those brands that the child has already tried at home.

These can be cereals and soups adapted for one-year-old children, which you just need to dilute with water, canned baby purees. You can take fruits on the road if the child nibbles them with pleasure. Of course, they need to be thoroughly washed at home, not expecting that this can be done on the road.

Bring enough bottled water with you so that your child will drink more than usual. By the way, it is also better to dilute cereals with heated bottled water, and not with boiling water from titanium in the car. It will be possible to turn to the guides with a request to heat the water, usually travelers with children are not denied such a small amount.

But feeding the baby on the train with food from the table of adults is not worth it. Even a harmless boiled chicken cooked on the eve of a trip can cause a baby to be poisoned, although adults, having eaten it, will not feel discomfort.

If the parents took the baby to the sea, then their desire to immediately start “fortifying” the child is quite understandable. But you need to be extremely careful and not make drastic changes in the diet of the baby.

For relaxation, you should choose hotels that have a restaurant with a children's menu. If parents rent housing and plan to cook their own meals, then you should try to choose the same products that the child ate at home. You should not try to cram more fruits into it, and even more so offer exotic fruits, this good intention can turn into a serious intestinal disorder.

The opinion of Dr. Komarovsky

Dr. Komarovsky considers one-year-old children to be one of the most interesting and productive. At this time, a lot of changes take place in a child's life, including those related to nutrition.

For a baby, frequent absorption of food is the norm, since it is in the first year that he gains a lot of weight. After a year, the growth of the child slows down somewhat, he no longer adds a kilogram per month and begins to relate to food in a completely different way.

The baby begins to form its own food preferences, and they change so rapidly that the mother does not have time to follow them. For example, if yesterday the baby willingly ate stewed zucchini, today he may refuse to even take it in his mouth. Do not be upset, perhaps in a couple of days, he will again become a “fan” of squash stew.

A one-year-old child often has significant fluctuations in appetite. Sometimes they can be easily explained. For example, it is not surprising if the baby refuses to eat in the heat. We admit to ourselves frankly, in such weather, adults often feel disgust for food, preferring a light fruit snack to a meat patty.

Often the cause of a temporary decrease in appetite is the growth of molars. During this period, most babies eat poorly, eating much less than usual.

Very often, parents have to invent new and new ways to attract the attention of their children to food. For example:

Eat soup and broth, drink tea, compote, etc. through a straw. It is very important to do this with a serious face, preferably several times in the presence of the child. Later, he will be interested in this procedure and will be happy to repeat it. A very effective method for taking medicines. Under the guise of juice, you can offer your child to drink an unloved potion.

For feeding children, use interesting, bright and unusual dishes. It is desirable that something is depicted on its bottom. The child will be motivated to eat the food completely.

Children are very fond of sweets. You can put something useful in bright wrappers, such as mashed vegetables, cottage cheese, a piece of pie, etc. But this method only works with young children.

You can cook your child for lunch or dinner for several hours, repeating from time to time what delicious dishes will be served. After a while, the baby himself will begin to wait for this moment.

It is recommended to draw while eating, putting an album and felt-tip pens next to the plate. You can draw an apple, and let the child, eating a real apple, paint over the picture piece by piece. After that, you can invite the baby to depict, for example, a bowl of soup.

In many families, the main way is to feed the child with the help of television advertising, that is, at the moment when the child is infatuated. This is wrong and harmful to the health of the baby. It has long been noticed that advertising is the cause of aggressive behavior in children. This is due to a change in the functioning of the central nervous system in young children (in particular, the cerebral cortex), which is caused by the rapid change of bright pictures and audiovisual special effects. After frequent viewing of it, children experience tearfulness, irritability, increased nervous excitability, sleep disturbances, aggressiveness, etc. It is worth noting that the orientation towards the assimilation of ready-made solutions imposed by advertising limits the work of thinking, which subsequently negatively affects the intellectual development of the child. Also, feeding during advertising (as well as reading while eating), in addition to the above, negatively affects the digestive processes.

A fairly common mistake parents make is to draw their child's attention to food with the help of jokes. You should not turn eating into entertainment, you should also not persuade the baby for a long time "to eat a spoon for mom, for dad." It is also not recommended to threaten the child with something, for example: "If you don't eat, I won't buy you a car."

When serving food to a child, one should behave calmly, give him time so that he can eat everything, so to speak, do not stand over his soul. If the baby has not eaten anything, you just need to silently remove the plate, and after that do not give him any snacks, such as sweets and cookies, until the next meal.

From time to time, the child should be given the opportunity to exercise independence. You can invite him to choose what he will eat for lunch or dinner and even cook some interesting simple dish with him. It is very important for children to feel their independence, and even more so - the significance that is manifested in helping adults.

How to feed twins

In order to feed twins or twins, not to mention more children, you need to prepare in advance. Place toys, towels, bibs (for small children), food, spoons, etc. near the table.

The easiest way is to feed from one plate, in turn. But more often it happens that children have different tastes and preferences in food.

For all children without exception - both capricious and calm - the rules of feeding are the same:

1. First of all, you need to stock up on patience and endurance.
2. You should stick to the planned menu.
3. Portions should be of the appropriate size. Do not force your child to eat more than he can.
4. It is recommended to maintain a positive conversation, not to cry out, even if the children are naughty or naughty.
5. It is necessary to limit the time of eating to 20 minutes and allow the child to leave the table after this time, even if he has not finished eating.
6. Do not focus on the fact that children do not eat.
7. And finally, do not allow unplanned meals. Thus, it is easier to awaken the child's appetite during lunch or dinner.

Twins often imitate each other's behavior, especially at an early age. You can use this for your own purposes. For example, if one child is hungry and the other is not, you can safely feed the first, thus giving the second the opportunity to take a positive example.

It is very common that parents do not have enough time for twins, so they leave them to themselves by giving them a bottle of juice. Drinks create a feeling of satiety, and the consequences of this are refusals to take normal food.

You should not cook unusual and delicious dishes for especially picky children. This will create additional difficulties at present and certain problems in the future. A child should be taught healthy food and good manners from childhood.

Dishes for children

In order to increase the child's appetite, you can cook a dish with him. This event will become especially significant for the baby if it is timed to coincide with any holiday, preferably the birthday of the child himself.

In this case, you can make a menu with the baby, think about who to invite and where to plant, how to decorate the room, what games to play, what music to listen to. And of course, the kid will be interested in taking part in this. He will remember this birthday for a long time.

It is desirable that the whole family take part in the preparation for the holiday. You can assign responsibilities, for example, the older sister inflates and hangs balloons, mom bakes a cake, dad and baby help her.

Naturally, you should select a job for the child in accordance with his strengths, capabilities and skills. Do not blame him or even pay attention to the fact that he did not succeed.

It can be recommended to use a bright washable tablecloth, multi-colored napkins and dishes for the festive table. The menu should be designed in such a way that only those dishes that can be eaten without the help of a knife are present.

To decorate drinks (carbonated water, berry fruit drinks and natural juices), you can use multi-colored straws and animal figurines.

Decoration of dishes for children

To increase the child's appetite, dishes should be beautifully and interestingly designed, because the appearance of food plays an important role and contributes to better digestibility of food.

Products must match in color, shape and taste.

Red sauces are in harmony with meat, especially fried. Pink tomato sauce is suitable for fish dishes, and white - for poultry. In the event that products should have a natural color, do not use artificial dyes. Also, inedible objects or raw dough should not be used as a decoration for a dish.

Paying attention to decorations, it should be noted that if the products are served in dishes with a pattern, then the patterns on the dish itself should be minimal.

On the surface of a variety of large-sized products, you can make drawings, ornaments and jelly nets.

When preparing cold dishes, the right combination of food in terms of cut shape, color and taste is of great importance. Most often, various seasonings and vegetables are used for decoration, which not only make the dish more attractive and appetizing, but also enrich it with vitamins, organic acids, mineral salts and carbohydrates.

As a decoration, you can use raw, boiled, pickled, canned vegetables and herbs, as well as various figures from them.

When decorating, you should be guided by the main rule: the main dish should not be covered with a side dish and various decorations. We must also remember that beautiful dishes also affect the appetite.

In practice, the main principle of decoration is contrast. Green vegetables (cucumbers, peas), parsley, onion and dill go well with yellow (peppers, boiled carrots), red (tomatoes, beets, peppers) and white (cabbage, onions).

Snacks can be decorated with pickled fruits and berries, as well as flowers, etc. from vegetables.

Bluebells can be made from fresh or pickled cucumbers, beets or carrots. To do this, cut off the top of the vegetable to make a pointed cone. Then cut off a thin layer about 2 cm wide, turn the conical cap upside down, put an oblong piece of a vegetable of a different color and put it together on a dish or distribute one at a time.

A rose can be made from tomatoes. One tomato should be placed with the stalk down, cuts should be made on four sides from above, leaving about 1 cm uncut. After that, carefully remove the middle of the tomato with a knife. Remove the skin from the second tomato, starting from the stalk, to make a ribbon 1.5-2 cm wide. Twist this ribbon and place it in the center of the first tomato. Put parsley or dill next to it.

Baskets can be made from green pickled or fresh tomatoes. To do this, cut off the top of the vegetable, remove 1/3 of the pulp with a spoon, cut teeth along the edges and fill the baskets with finely chopped vegetables seasoned with mayonnaise or vegetable oil.

Baskets can also be prepared from various fruits. To do this, cut off the top from tangerines, oranges, lemons, etc., remove 1/3 of the pulp with a spoon, and make cloves on the edges with a knife. Baskets can be filled with cranberries, lingonberries, plums or cherries.

You can also make baskets from zucchini and squash. To do this, cut the bottoms of vegetables, cut out baskets and cook in salted water until half cooked. After that, marinate the baskets in vinegar, diluted with water at a rate of 1: 1, for 30 minutes. Such baskets can be filled with vegetable mixtures seasoned with vegetable oil.

Daisies can be made from eggs. To do this, boil the egg hard-boiled, cool, peel, cut off the sharp end, put the egg cut down and cut the protein into thin strips. After that, remove the yolk, and give the strips of protein the shape of chamomile petals. In the middle, you can put a circle of yolk or carrots, and next to it - parsley or dill.

You can also make roses from eggs. To do this, the egg must be boiled, peeled, cut off the blunt end to a height of 1 cm, carefully remove the yolk, cut off a strip about 1 cm thick from most of the protein in a circular motion, twist it into a roll, and cut several slices from the remaining protein and make petals out of them. . In the recess of the stand, place the roll and the protein petals.

A rose can also be made from beets. It is necessary to cook it, cut it in half vertically, put it with the cut down and cut into thin slices, from which then lay out the rose, placing them horizontally.

You can make bows from cucumbers by cutting the vegetable lengthwise into thin strips and folding each of them in half. Place two strips opposite each other, and decorate with circles of radishes, onions or carrots on top.

You can make an interesting side dish from cabbage leaves if you boil them, cut off the thickened vein, roll them up into a bag and fill them with various fillings.

Tomatoes also make an excellent side dish if you cut them into circles without reaching the end with a knife, then push them apart with your hands, giving the shape of a flower, and place green peas or an olive in the center. This decoration will go well with various meat and fish dishes or salads.

Tomatoes, beets, carrots or apples can make magnolia. To do this, make a serrated incision in the middle, while trying to ensure that the knife does not reach the core. When the cut line closes, separate the halves. This way you can get 2 flowers.

From onions you can make a lily. To do this, a large onion should be cleaned, washed, cut into small triangles from its center and divided into 2 parts. The scales should be nested one inside the other so that their sharp ends fall between the petals of the previous row. You can slightly round the "lily" petals with scissors.

From green onions you can make a flower-decoration. To do this, its feathers should be cut in the form of panicles, cut lengthwise and placed in a glass of cold water. The feathers of the onion curl up and form a flower.

You can also decorate cold dishes with jellied vegetables. Before pouring, cut them into pieces, and pour small vegetables whole.

Sweet dishes

Sweet dishes are always bright and varied. There are many possibilities for this.

A very unusual and interesting dessert can be obtained by pouring layers of jelly of different colors into molds. This kind of dish can be served as an independent dish or cut into several parts and pour them with transparent jelly.

Cakes and pastries can be decorated with multi-colored creams, drawing various bright pictures on them. The child can also take an active part in this.

Many parents they mistakenly believe that a one-year-old child can eat everything that adults eat. In fact, young children need a more balanced diet and not all adult foods are suitable for them. The child's body is still imperfect and weak, so malnutrition can lead to serious diseases of the child. For babies under 1.5 years old, meals should be five times a day, and hot food should be given at least twice a day.

Nutrition child older than one year should meet his needs for energy, trace elements and. Many children by this age already have 8-12 milk teeth, their digestive capacity of the gastrointestinal tract increases, the microflora in the large intestine stabilizes and the volume of the stomach increases. If up to a year the child was rubbed food through a sieve, then a baby older than a year can begin to give food in small pieces. The transition to an adult diet should be gradual, and nutrition should remain the nutrition of the child's development. Many one-year-old children continue to receive mother's milk, but breast milk alone is no longer enough for their normal growth and development. Therefore, an important place in the diet of children 1-1.5 years old should be given to milk, dairy and sour-milk products.

milk, kefir, yogurt should be included daily in the baby's diet, and cottage cheese, sour cream, cream and cheese should be given every other day. If the child is not overweight, then we do not advise him to give low-fat dairy products, it is best to choose milk, kefir and yogurt with a fat content of 3.2%, and sour cream and cream with 10-15% fat content. The total amount of dairy products consumed per day should be 2-3 glasses, taking into account the preparation of dishes using milk. Of these, it is mandatory to consume 200 ml of kefir per day, it improves the intestinal microflora and digestion, and increases the child's immunity.

Should not be given to a one year old baby yoghurts intended for adults. For a baby, it is better to choose special children's milk yoghurts with a moderate content of fats and vitamins, in the baby's diet they should be 100 ml per day. Cottage cheese is necessary for children at this age 50 gr. per day, it is an indispensable source of calcium and protein for a growing body. Sour cream or cream can be used no more than 10 gr. per day for dressing first courses, and hard cheeses in crushed form no more than 5 gr. in a day. Whole cow's milk is not recommended for children under 3 years of age.

Meat and fish dishes Baby must receive at least 100 gr. in a day. It is advisable to serve meat dishes for lunch, in the form of meatballs, fillets and minced meat. We recommend giving your baby meat dishes five times a week and fish for two days. If you decide to feed meat at lunchtime, and use fish in the evening, then their number should be reduced. Meat dishes should be prepared from lean beef, chicken or rabbit meat, you can use the liver, tongue and heart for cooking the baby.

Fat varieties pork, meat of ducks and geese is better not to give to small children, they are difficult to digest. Also, do not feed babies with sausages, as they contain monosodium glutamate, food phosphates and nitrates, which can adversely affect the health of the child. From fish, preference should be given to sea and river fish, with the exception of fatty and delicacy varieties. These are sturgeon, salmon, salmon, halibut and others. Giving children fish should be freed from bones if the fish is boiled or fried. And kids can’t eat smoked or canned fish, and we also don’t recommend giving black or red caviar. Caviar is a fatty product, in addition, it causes allergies in many children.

Chicken egg a mandatory product that should be present in the diet of children. The egg contains a lot of protein, vitamins and other nutrients necessary for the growth and development of the child. A one-year-old baby should eat one egg every other day in the form of an omelette or hard-boiled.

In nutrition children 1-1.5 years different cereals are used. Buckwheat, semolina, oatmeal, rice and millet porridge are recommended to be given once a day no more than 150 ml. Up to 1.5 years, the baby should not be given pasta and barley porridge. The set of baby products should include rye or whole wheat bread no more than 40 gr. per day. You can give 1-2 pieces of cookies or dryers along with tea. Sugar in the diet of a child under 1.5 years old should be present in a small amount only to improve the taste of dishes. Chocolate and honey are not given to children under three years old.

Vegetables and fruits should be widely used in the nutrition of children 1-1.5 years old. Mashed potatoes, dishes from cabbage, carrots, zucchini, pumpkin with the addition of greens and onions should be present in the diet in the amount of 150-200 gr. It is also necessary to include turnips, radishes, radishes and legumes in the diet: peas, beans and beans. Vegetable puree should be gradually replaced with finely chopped salads. An obligatory component of the child's daily menu should be fruits and berries.

Toddlers like gnaw apples, pears, carrots, turnips, as well as bananas, cherries, plums, currants and kiwi. The introduction of pineapples, tangerines and oranges into the diet depends on the child's lack of allergies to exotic fruits. In the absence of allergies, children should receive fresh fruit up to 200 gr. per day, and fruits and berries up to 20 gr. It is useful for young children to drink fruit, berry and vegetable juices, rosehip broth, compotes and fruit drinks without sugar. Kissels should not be used in the nutrition of children under 1.5 years old, as they contain a large amount of carbohydrates, and their nutritional value is low.

Child 11

Today's post is a continuation of the article "". This time I want to talk about what exactly my children eat, what they eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, what they have a snack, what they take with them to school and kindergarten.

I have two children, the girl is 7 years old, she goes to school, the boy is almost 4 years old, he attends kindergarten. In our family, great attention is paid to the nutrition of children, absolutely all of my surroundings know that my children should not be given everything, and even the children themselves always ask if it is possible to eat a product that they have in their hands without my knowledge. You will probably be wondering where I get information about the healthy nutrition of children, there are actually a lot of sources, but I always adhere to the opinion that a child’s nutrition should be exclusively natural, in everything else I just listen to the requests of children. A healthy child has healthy eating habits, and it is these eating habits that indicate the need for certain nutrients. Imagine that a child constantly demands bread, this was the case with my baby, of course, I believe that there is nothing useful in yeast bread, elementary, many children have snot flowing from an ordinary white bun and skin irritation may appear. Everything changed when I began to give the child porridge every morning, the child became more indifferent to bread, and the snot, of course, disappeared. But only porridge in the morning can get boring, and nutrition should be varied in order to satisfy all the needs of a growing body, so I will tell you in detail how, how and when I feed my children.

What to feed a child for breakfast

I usually start preparing breakfast in the evening. To do this, I soak the cereal in warm water (1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar for 1 glass of water). Different grains require different soaking times, but the average is 5 to 10 hours. We really like green buckwheat, millet, basmati rice, oatmeal. I cook porridge in water with salt and over low heat. I add at the end. We use milk only unpasteurized, fresh, slightly heated to add to porridge. Sometimes I sweeten porridge with maple syrup, honey, banana, dates.

Another breakfast option for the weekend is yeast-free bread, pancakes, muffins made from coconut, buckwheat, oatmeal or corn flour. Coconut flour baking can be done more often for children, coconut flour, in my opinion, is ideal for children with allergies, which cannot be said about other types of flour. It is not very healthy to often feed a child with pastries from cereals that have not been prepared - soaking or sourdough (for example, you can make your own sourdough for baking bread).
The third breakfast option is homemade cottage cheese, you can buy it or cook it yourself. I cook cottage cheese myself from fresh milk, add fresh herbs to the finished cottage cheese, homemade kefir on fungi, mix it all up and a full breakfast is ready!

In summer, we like to drink fruit smoothies for breakfast, sometimes with the addition of fresh herbs. In winter, children are also not averse to enjoying this tasty and quite satisfying drink. For the winter version, I use frozen berries, naturally fresh bananas, we also sell good apples, pears for almost the entire winter period. For even more satiety, you can add a little avocado or coconut oil.

What to feed a child for lunch

For lunch I usually cook soups. It can be vegetarian, meat broth, fish soups,. I make soups with the addition of vegetables, prepared cereals, beans. When cooking, I do not use any vegetable oils, only. Soups on ghee always turn out to be especially tasty, and if you add homemade sour cream when serving (I make it from cream and milk fungi), you won’t tear the children off the plate by the ears.

Another lunch option is chicken eggs fried in ghee, boiled eggs, quail eggs, plus children's favorite vegetables, mine prefer carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, paprika.

If we consider from the second courses, then we usually accept dishes such as meatballs, potatoes (mashed or baked), steamed vegetables with a bang. For me, the healthiest cooking option is steamed, but not everyone wants to eat like that, so for a change, you can bake, stew, boil, and even fry food, but only on healthy fat (ghee, animal fat), for a short time, on average fire, so that nothing burns or smokes.

What to feed your baby for dinner

Most of our dinners are leftovers from lunch. I heat food in the oven or on the stove over low heat, and I remind you that the microwave cannot be used to heat food, and even more so to cook it.

If the children had a tight bite before dinner, then before going to bed it is enough for them to drink warm milk, kefir, again freshly prepared.

Sometimes I cook homemade cheese for children, you can eat it just like that, you can with pastries, salads or cereals.

What should be a snack for children

Some time after the main meal, the children demand something to chew on, in this case I cut the fruits, those that are in the house, if they are not there, then the children agree on carrots and cabbage. Regarding how to feed vegetables to children, I have a little trick, when many mothers take cookies, chips, bread for a walk, I take vegetables, hungry children are ready to eat anything.

Another healthy snack option for children is nuts, seeds, dried fruits. All these products must be soaked before being eaten. Therefore, I prepare snacks in advance. I soak nuts and seeds in hot water with a pinch of salt. In addition to the fact that these products after soaking become easy to digest, less allergenic, it also eliminates the possibility of eating low-quality nuts and seeds (I found similar ones in the preparation process). After soaking, nuts and seeds can be dried a little in the oven, they become unusually tasty, we eat freshly ground and peeled almonds, very tasty in this form. We often do not use dried fruits, as there is access to fresh fruits, but soaked dried fruits are again much healthier and tastier.

What time to feed the baby

Here, in fact, everything is very simple, the children themselves will let you know when they want to eat, the child will never be hungry. Although, I have examples of parents who believe that their child is hungry all the time, so they constantly run after him with a spoon, trying to cram food into him at least a little, drink juice endlessly (one name) during breaks, do not refuse cookies , candy and chewing gum. Such parents usually have no appetite for children, this is completely natural, because the child is always full with such feeding, but what he is full of, then you need to review and correct it before it's too late.

The child must be fed when he requires it, so that the child requires food, there must be breaks between meals, this is necessary not only for a healthy appetite, but also for the rest of the digestive organs. Here I like the statement of Dr. Komarovsky, who does not tire of repeating that it is good for children to sometimes starve. For example, I am completely calm about the fact that my children sometimes skip meals, they can go to bed hungry, but in the morning they wake up with a brutal appetite, it seems that they are ready to eat me and no picking with a spoon in a plate.

Nutrition for children in kindergarten and at school

I don’t know about you, but in Germany, the food in kindergartens and schools leaves much to be desired. In conversations with parents, I learned that children complain of stomach pains after non-homemade food. This happens in children who are usually fed quality food at home. And it's good that the child's body immediately gives a signal about unsuitable food for him. The fact is that the gastrointestinal tract of children who are on a natural diet is very sensitive, it reacts sharply to everything that is cooked inappropriately or is simply harmful. Such children may have frequent allergic reactions to food, the human body is very competently arranged so as not to drive the disease inside, it instantly gives signals, all that remains is to listen to them, and not cover up eczema on the skin with creams, do not eliminate itching in the eyes with the help of drops and so on.

If your child has no other choice, he has to eat out, then at least try to cook as healthy food as possible at home, do not keep at home what is harmful to the child, do not eat it yourself, parents should lead by example, then the child will be much easier accept parental teachings about healthy eating. When choosing a kindergarten, be interested in what the children are fed there. Feed your child a hearty breakfast before going to kindergarten or school, give fruits, nuts, vegetables with you as a snack.

If you have any questions about feeding children, then please ask. I will also be glad if you share your opinion on this topic, perhaps tell something from your personal experience.

When the child is 1 year old, if possible, breast milk should still be included in his menu, at least once a day or at night. It contains antibodies that help fight infectious diseases, and in the second year of life, mother's breasts play a role not so much "nourishing" as protecting: the baby feels a sense of peace and security. The mother will produce exactly the amount that the child needs, because breast milk perfectly adapts to his needs, including its unique nutritional and protective properties, so it is impossible to overeat it.

Feeding with milk mixtures, if the child has been formula-fed plus complementary foods for up to a year, should be slowly completed, since the mixture does not have such useful characteristics as breast milk. Most often, pediatricians recommend including a mixture of a maximum of 1-2 times a day in the menu of a child at 1 year old: in the morning and at night, strictly observing the rate indicated on the package for this age.

What dairy products can a child eat at 1 year old

Dairy products are rich in proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals, so they are simply necessary for the child. The introduction of boiled cow's milk to the menu at 1 year old is an individual decision made by the mother with the participation of a pediatrician and if the child is not allergic to cow's milk protein. Many pediatricians, because of the risk of such an allergy, advise trying whole milk only after 2 years, and before this age, they advise giving the mixture 1 time per day.

About kefir

The Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences recommends introducing kefir just at the age of 1 year, or at least not earlier than the child is 9-10 months old and in a volume not exceeding 150-200 ml per day. Kefir has a high acidity, so consumption in large doses at an early age can lead to microscopic hemorrhages in the intestines, a decrease in hemoglobin levels. So, kefir from 1 year to 200 ml per day (no more) improves the functioning of the heart, blood vessels of the baby, calms the nervous system, activates the kidneys and intestines, improves immunity, thanks to the lactic acid and bifidobacteria contained in it.

About yogurt

Yoghurts are made on the sourdough of the Bulgarian stick and thermophilic streptococcus, in other words, on lactic acid cultures, which give yoghurts a unique taste and usefulness. But only live yoghurts that have not been heat treated are useful. How to find out from: the maximum shelf life is 30 days at a temperature of +2 to +8 degrees, they contain minerals, vitamins and bacteria. Long-term storage yogurts do not contain bacteria, but they are replete with preservatives and aromatic additives, due to which they can lie in their original form for up to 3 months without a refrigerator.

In the menu of a child at 1 year old, you should include "live" milk (not creamy!) Yogurt, produced by a special baby food enterprise. Such yogurt is stored for only a few days and contains a small amount of carbohydrates and fats.

About cottage cheese

The norm of consumption of cottage cheese in 1 year is 50 grams per day. Cottage cheese is useful as a storehouse of protein and calcium, but the norm should not be exceeded, since an excess of protein can cause a decrease in appetite and, in rare cases, obesity.

After a day or two, you can give your child a small amount of sour cream, finely grated cheese or cream.

What cereals can a one-year-old child eat

Cereals contain carbohydrates, minerals, vegetable proteins, vitamins. The most useful in this regard are buckwheat and oatmeal, oatmeal and corn - a source of selenium. It is not recommended to give semolina often due to the high content of gluten and a small amount of vitamins and minerals. Rice porridge contains vitamins B and E, minerals, including potassium and calcium, so twice a week rice will not only promote satiety, but also normalize digestion in children whose stools are too frequent and have a liquid consistency. Wheat porridge is recommended conditionally due to the high content of gluten, to which cases of allergies are so frequent.

What fruits and vegetables can a child at 1 year old

About fruits

In the menu of a child at 1 year old, you can already gradually include oranges, apricots, kiwi, strawberries, ripe mangoes, but the main ones, of course, should remain apples, pears and bananas, which can be added to oatmeal or rice porridge. Fruit per day should not exceed 100 ml in volume, plus juice - also no more than 100 ml. Seasonal berries are useful: lingonberries, cranberry jelly, currants, blackberries, cherries. Please note: berries with pits should be wiped through a sieve and only the pulp should be given to the child, and do not forget to remove the pits from cherries and cherries beforehand! Useful and tasty compotes from raisins, prunes, apples, rose hips. Grapes are not recommended to be given to a child at 1 year old because of the risk of increased fermentation processes in the intestines, followed by gas formation and bloating.

About vegetables

The leaders are carrots, potatoes, zucchini, pumpkin, boiled and pureed or cut into small pieces. From the new, you can enter legumes in small quantities into the menu: beans, green peas. But to give them to a child at 1 gg should be strictly in small doses (increase peristalsis) and thoroughly boiled. In order not to cook beans for 1.5 hours or longer, it is better to buy canned beans in cans, in tomato sauce. Just watch the composition carefully: it is ideal that only beans, salt, sugar, water are present and a small number of spices are allowed. Avoid beans and peas in jars with E-additives, starch and bite!

What meat and fish can be given to a one-year-old child

All meat dishes, be it minced meat or meatballs, should be given only in the morning so that they have time to digest before bedtime. You can feed a child not only with pureed meat, but also make steam cutlets, meatballs, soup with meatballs. Leaders for this period: lean beef, veal, lean pork, chicken, beef tongue, if possible, rabbit and turkey.

What meat and meat products (including poultry meat) should not be given to a one-year-old child?

  • fatty pork
  • sausages
  • sausages
  • sausages
  • meat of waterfowl (ducks, geese)
  • semi-finished products.

From the fish for the menu, you should choose low-fat: pollock, cod, pike perch, sea bass. You can make steam cutlets, soufflés, stew with vegetables, or simply give boiled fillets, pureed or in pieces. The main thing is to carefully take out all the bones, including small ones, do not miss a single one! Caviar is rich in useful minerals, acids, but it should be given in small quantities (several eggs) and from a good manufacturer, since in a 1-year-old child, both caviar itself and preservatives in jars can cause severe allergies.

Is it possible for a child at 1 year old to have eggs?

Chicken eggs are rich in proteins, amino acids, vitamins, micro and macro elements, so one egg per day is recommended to be included in the child's menu at 1 year old, except in cases of individual intolerance to chicken protein. You can cook a boiled egg, steamed omelet. It is strictly forbidden to give the child raw eggs and partially boiled! It is also good to give quail eggs, but not often, about 1-2 times a week due to their high content of fat and cholesterol (more than chicken).

How to give butter to a child?

Butter with a fat content of 82.5% (herbal additives are not uncommon in butter with a lower percentage) should be smeared on bread or added to cereals and vegetable purees immediately before use. As a result of heat treatment, it loses its useful properties. It is also possible in a small amount of vegetable oils: corn, olive, sunflower without prior steam treatment.

Also in the menu of a child in 1 year should include:

  • white bread, not grain and not coarse, as the last two are hard to digest;
  • natural, unflavored, weakly brewed tea;
  • ordinary boiled water: as needed, including free access after and between meals.

Cooking for a one year old

  • Be sure to consider the following guidelines for preparing meals for a 1 year old baby:
  • all food from the menu should be adapted to the baby’s ability to chew, bite, assimilate: some children have 10 teeth a year, others 4, some digest well and recover twice a day, others require effort and regular drinking of prune compotes - consider individual characteristics of the child;
  • all food should still be pureed or rubbed through a fine sieve;
  • due to lack of time for torsion of meat through a meat grinder and cooking steam cutlets, it is reasonable to buy ready-made baby food in specialized stores;
  • expand the child's diet with foods allowed for this age, let's try new tastes.

How much should a one year old baby eat?

Feeding a child from a year to a year and a half, mostly five times a day, allowable intervals of 3-4 hours. If the baby drinks boiled cow's milk, then the milk he drank in a volume of at least 250 ml can be considered a full-fledged feeding. The richest lunch, the lightest in terms of calories, is an afternoon snack. For a day, a child of 1 year (full) eats a volume of 1000-1200 ml, excluding water and tea.
