When working with thick denim and tarpaulin, the seams are left with an open cut on the front side. Next, take out all the horizontal threads along each seam. The result is a trendy fluffy fringed edge.

A thin cord sewn from the same material or natural ribbons and lace is used as ties. Jeans go well with variegated colored cotton.

We sew the bag ourselves

Making a bag for storing herbs and spices with your own hands is not at all difficult.

Materials:

  • Workpiece size 20 * 22 cm
  • Narrow ribbon or lace 15-20 cm long
  • Threads in color
  • Needle or sewing machine
  • Tailor's chalk for marking (a thin remnant can be used)


Place the fabric with its wide side horizontally and fold in half. Having retreated 1 cm from the edge, mark with chalk and machine the side and bottom seams on the machine. Cut the sections with an overlock or zig-zag seam. If the work is done by hand, sew the parts with a needle back seam and overcast with a buttonhole seam.

On the upper side of the finished bag, mark 4 cm for the drawstring, fold in half and bend 5 mm inward, sew on a typewriter or by hand, leaving 1-1.5 cm for the lace to enter. The result is a classic tobacco pouch.

Tip: if you need a bag with beautiful ties, then leave the top edge free, hem it with a hem. Sew the ties on the front side on the side seam line, stepping back 6-7 cm from the upper edge of the product. You will get a beautiful frill, and the decorative ribbons will be visible.

Decor

The bag can be decorated with embroidery. A simple cross-stitch embroidery of a small motif or simply an embroidered name for the content ("tea", "lavender", "bread", etc.) will be a great addition.

For decoration, ready-made stencils are also used, through which the motive is applied with acrylic paints to the base. As a decoration, you can glue a small bunch of lavender or rosemary tied with twine.

Advice: decorating a ready-made pouch is not convenient. It is easier and faster to decorate the pouch details in advance, before they are sewn.

How to make a transparent gift pouch with ties

Materials:

  • Organza (a veil or nylon is also suitable).
  • Satin ribbons 1-2 colors, length 20-25 cm
  • Scissors
  • Threads in color
  • Needle or sewing machine
  • Tailor's chalk

The easiest way is to tie a piece of fabric in the shape of a circle with ribbons. The diameter of the circle should be at least three lengths of the gift (as much as possible) plus 1 cm for the hem.

Cut out a circle, mark the hem width with chalk, and hem the edge with a hem. Put a gift in the middle of the circle, collect all the edges up, tie the ribbons so that the present lies freely inside. Above you get a voluminous beautiful ruffle made of fabric.

Tip: if you don't have a sewing machine or even a needle at hand, the edge of the organza can be easily and quickly processed by scorching it over a candle or lighter flame.


Satin ribbons in color or contrasting colors are ideal for binding transparent packages. Double strings look spectacular, one of which is wider and darker, and the second is narrower and lighter.

To sew a full-fledged bag, you need to cut a rectangular piece of fabric 2 times larger than the size of the finished bag, plus 1 cm for the seams at the bottom and side, plus 5-6 cm at the top for hem.

Organza is easy to crumble, so the edge must be processed with a hemmed seam on the machine or with a needle. This must be done in advance along the entire length, except for the upper edge.

Mark 5 cm on the top side, fold in half and fold in 5 mm, sew on the machine or manually. Pull the ribbons for the ties through the entire drawstring. The bag is ready.

Technological stages

The main stages of production:

  1. Mixing and drying of raw materials. Primary and secondary polypropylene granules are mixed with dyes and necessary additives. Calcium carbonate is often used. It gives the packaging a white color and the required rigidity. The finished mixture is fed into a flat slotted polypropylene extruder and heated to 260 ° C.
  2. Production and winding of flat thread. The heated mixture passes through the nozzle in the form of a thin film. After cooling, it is cut into flat threads of the required thickness, tempered, stretched and wound on spools.
  3. Fabric production. The circular loom is adjusted to the required parameters: the density of the weave of the threads and the width are set. The resulting polypropylene bag is wound onto large bobbins.
  4. Cutting. The finished polypropylene fabric is cut into blanks by hot cutting. The trim line can be flat or wavy.
  5. Final product manufacturing... A special apparatus, from the bottom side, folds the polypropylene fabric for bags the required number of times and stitches it with a strong synthetic thread. The neck is left untreated or stitched. In some cases, polyethylene liners are sewn to the bottom.
  6. Logo laying on. The flexographic press applies a polychrome or black-and-white logo to the finished product.
  7. Package. Finished products are placed in packs of 500 or 1000 pieces, pressed, tied with twine and stored.
