We braid a classic braid

You saw such a braid in old Soviet films and fairy tales; painters depicted it on their canvases, conveying to the viewer. Comb your hair and sprinkle it with water.
At the very top of your head, select a strand of hair that you wrap with a ribbon.
Now divide the selected strand into two equal in size.
On each side, add a braid to the main strands.
Cross the working strands.
Now wrap each strand with ribbon.
Do the braid again.
Cross the working strands again. And repeat these steps until you reach the desired length of the braid.
Fix the hairstyle at the hairline at the back of the head and tie with the free ends of the ribbon.

Comb your hair and part it in the middle of your head.
At the parting itself, on both sides, select equal strands of hair.
Bring both strands to the side, for example, to the left.
Use the loose hair on the right side to create a French braid. Make it tight enough; the strands should not be loose in it.
Take a hairpin and use it to separate a strand of hair from the parting. Spray it with hairspray to make the hairstyle look neat and properly fixed.
Now pass the hairpin through the braided braid. From the strand fixed with varnish, hook a small loop with a hairpin. Pull it through the braid.
You have your first bow. Shape it, adjust the size of the loops. Place the small ponytail of hair that remains from the bow along the braid, and then hide it under the next strand.
Repeat the steps described in steps 5–7 and create another bow. So keep moving forward.
Braid the bows until you reach the end of the French braid. The braid itself can be tied with a ribbon at the bottom.

Unusual snake braid

This option is best suited for long hair. A hairstyle created using this algorithm looks interesting and attracts the attention of others to its owner.

Comb your hair and spray it with water from a spray bottle.
Separate a strand on one side of the forehead, divide it into three parts and create the following braiding: first two links of a classic braid, and then a French braid using a thinner strand from the outside. Tighten the braid tightly. Continue making a “snake”, moving towards the opposite side of the head at the back of the head.
Now work your way down the hair length. Pick up the strands from the inside of your head, this will allow you to create a kind of bend.
Braid the “snake” to the opposite side of the hair, start picking up the strands again from the outside, if the length of the curls allows.
Finally, when you reach the desired length of the snake, secure your hair with an elastic band.

Long hair is an excellent basis for a variety of braided hairstyles, in which you can combine two or more braids. First, comb your hair, then you need to separate the front part of the hair to braid it into a small braid. The place where the front hair is separated from the main hairstyle will be clearly visible, so use a comb with a long end or a special separator. The parting should be even and neat.


Separate a small section from the front of the hair at the left edge of the parting and begin to weave a traditional three-strand braid.


Place the right strand over the middle one, then cross the left strand into the middle.

Pick up the remaining hair from the front of the separated strand alternately from the left and right, and gradually weave it into the braid.

The braiding should not be tight, since the edges of this braid will need to be pulled up in the future, giving airiness and volume to the braiding.

Next, you need to select only with your right hand from the top of the hair. Take your hair in small strands and braid them with your right hand, always on one side, of course.


And the lower part of the hair, which you braid with your left hand, remains without holds.

Having reached the ear, begin to twist or bend the weave. To do this, braid it twice without grabbing, then begin to take additional hair with only your left hand and gradually weave it into the braid.

Now, on the contrary, you do not take additional hair with your right hand, and the braiding from below remains even.


Do not tighten the braid; the braiding should be very light. You will fix all “unruly” hair with hairspray at the last stage.


When the braid has reached the right corner, you need to make several large grabs (1-2) with your right hand and a couple of grabs with your left hand. In this case, the end of the braid will align and hang neatly in the middle of the back.


From the bottom of the winding snake braid, where you did not braid hair in addition to the main braid, take out small openwork.


To do this, use two fingers to remove the hair from the edge of the braid and slightly pull it up. The snake braid is now complete.


Fix your hair with hairspray.

Part 1

Braid your hair

    Start working on clean, dry hair. Snake braids look best on clean, healthy, well-moisturized hair that is kept completely dry. So wash your hair with a gentle shampoo to remove dirt, excess natural oils and styling product residue.

    • Treat clean hair with your favorite hair conditioner, rinse it out, pat your locks dry with a towel, and let them dry on their own.
    • If you are in a hurry and have to use a hairdryer, apply a heat protectant to your hair first.

  1. Choose a location for your braid. As with the classic braid, a snake braid can be braided on the head from a strand of hair anywhere, and it can be of any size.     Divide your hair into sections. To get a snake braid, you first need to braid a classic braid. Comb a section of hair with a wide-toothed comb to remove any tangles, then divide it into three equal sections.

    Do a classic braid. To create a classic braid, take the left strand of hair with your left hand, grab the central strand with the thumb and forefinger of your right hand, and grab the right strand with the fingers remaining on your right hand.

    Transform your braid into a snake

    1. Grab the center strand of the braid. Grasp the end of the braid with the thumb and forefinger of your left hand so that the braid does not unravel. With your right hand, separate the unbraided ends of the three strands and grab the central one.

      • Grasping the central strand, continue to hold the end of the braid with your left hand.

    2. Slide the braid up the center strand. Holding the central strand, carefully slide the other two strands up along it, like a rod.

      Straighten the snake. When you pull the braid up on the center strand, the braid will come together unevenly, so you will need to loosen and straighten the braid in places to give it the appearance of a real snake.

      • Starting at the top, carefully move the two side strands slightly lower, straightening the waves of the braid. Consistently move down the braid until the snake is completely straightened.
      • When finished, the braid will look like a snake meandering along the central strand of hair.

    3. Place the braid the way it should be positioned in your hair. The braid can be tied with a clear elastic band and left to just hang, or it can be styled on your head the way you like and secured in place with bobby pins.

    Part 3

    Hairstyle options with a snake braid

      Initially, braid the braid in the direction in which you will style it in your hair. If you are going for a particular snake braid hairstyle, you need to braid it in the right direction, otherwise it will fall in an uneven wave.

Among the wide variety of braids and spikelets, today the most popular is French braiding in reverse. It is also called reverse, or. It is done very quickly and looks quite impressive. Every girl, after a little training, will be able to braid a reverse spikelet on her own, even for herself.

Those with long, thick hair especially like the reverse braid. It is woven in the middle of the head from top to bottom, diagonally and even in a circle along the oval of the face. I called it “snake” because the braid will wriggle like this animal. I will prepare a comb, a comb and an elastic band. It won't require anything else. I start work by preparing the hair:

1. I comb the curls with a wide brush so that the hair does not get tangled when braiding. It is recommended to apply a small amount of mousse to your hair or sprinkle with hairspray. This treatment will make the strands heavier and make them more manageable.

2. Using a thin comb, I separate part of the hair along the forehead line, starting from the left temple. This should be the middle strip of hair from which a spikelet can be formed. I comb it with a comb and fasten the rest of my hair with a crocodile clip.

3. I take a thin strand of hair from the left temple. It should be divided into three equal parts. The spikelet can be formed from large strands, but you can take smaller curls. It all depends on what you want to get in the end. I prefer to form an even, symmetrical weave of their small curls. It is better to start weaving a reverse braid on the left. The first strand goes under the bottom of the other two, that is, it goes under the second and third strands. The same actions are performed with the third curl, bringing it under the second and first. This is how reverse weaving works.

4. To form a French spikelet, additional strands are woven into each link of the braid, which must be taken from above and below. The reverse spikelet will gain volume if you carefully pull the strands out of it. I do not extend the braid to the right temple, but leave a small part of the hair in this area untouched. This is done to rotate the spikelet in the other direction. At first I braided the braid from left to right, now I need to turn it from right to left. To turn the braid down, I stop braiding the curls to the left of the spikelet, but continue to take strands from the temple line.

5. To turn the braid to the left, I stop grabbing the curls from below, but continue to weave in the strands hanging loosely above the braid. So I continue to weave the spikelet until I reach the left edge of the head. But not to the very end, you need to leave a little hair on the left to turn the braid down and to the right.

6. In the same way as I did the first turn, I perform the second. I stop braiding the strands on the right and continue to use the hair on the left - the braid is turned down. I use only the upper curls - the braid turns to the right.

7. I don’t forget to periodically stop and pull strands out of the braid to make it more rounded and, so to speak, openwork. I perform the third turn similarly to the first two and braid the spikelet to the left edge of the hair. The length of the hair does not allow for more “snake” turns, so at this stage the braiding ends.

8. I fix the edge of the braid with a regular elastic band. The rest of the hair can be left down, but I decided to tie it together with the braid into one adorable ponytail. Now you can carefully straighten the strands woven into the braid and those hanging between its tiers. Perhaps the curls turned out longer in some places, shorter in others. The second option needs to be lengthened a little so that the hairstyle is even.
