A hat has long ceased to be just a warm addition to clothes. It is an independent, image-defining wardrobe item, a stylish accessory.

Under a hat "with ears" it is customary to understand two styles of hats, or even a combination of them:

  1. A hat with elongated sides - ears, on which strings are located.
  2. A hat of any style, with animal ears sewn on the top or on the sides, the so-called animal hat.

Choosing a model and fabric

Hats with ears are coming girls, as well as adolescents and children of both sexes.

Wide models are suitable if you have a round or oval face... Widely spaced ears will harmoniously look on the owners of a narrow face.

For a comfortable use of the product, we need to choose a highly stretchable fabric:

  • Jersey, elastic in one or two directions.
  • Stretch denim.
  • Various types of fleece.
  • Natural fur.
  • Faux fur on a knitted basis.
  • Used jersey.

Advice! If you decide to put a sweater or T-shirt on your hat, then the material must first be prepared. Wash it with a detergent suitable for the fabric. If it's natural wool, a good hair shampoo is fine. Open the product. Iron through a damp iron. You can start cutting.

Taking measurements

For self-sewing of a hat, we will need the following basic dimensions:

  • Head circumference - At the widest point of the head, usually the edge of the cap.
  • The depth of the cap is the distance from the crown of the head to the intended edge.
  • The length of the ears is the size of the estimated ears from the edge of the cap.

If you sew on an ear, then you will need an additional pattern, two parts for each ear.

Advice! The simplest pattern is easy to do by circling a ready-made, comfortable headdress.

Fur "Eskimo"

Would need:

  • fabric for lining, dense, hygroscopic;
  • blank or can of 2 liters;
  • scalpel, sharp knife, razor;
  • needle, thread.

Patterns - two parts with a seam in the middle - from the forehead to the back of the head. For a good fit, two undercuts are built in the crown area.

  • Place the skin with the pile down.
  • We lay out the patterns on the flesh, take into account the direction of the fur.
  • We cut the fur with a knife or razor - not with scissors.
  • The same patterns are duplicated by the lining. Allowances for seams 0.5 cm.

Important! We do not make allowances for seams on fur details.

  • We sew the fur blanks (first the darts, then the left and right halves together). Over the edge seam. Pay attention to the fact that the fur is evenly stretched, not deformed.
  • We stitch the fragments of the lining, put them into the fur blank.
  • We turn it out.
  • We bend the fur inward, to the lining, then sew it with a "goat".
  • We put it on a blank or a can and leave it to hang.

There are several patterns for Eskimo hats:

Advice! According to the "Eskimo" pattern, hats are sewn from any material - jersey, felt, fleece. If necessary, use a non-woven gasket.

If you want to add ears to the "Eskimo", then cut them out of fur or other material, sew the details and sew them into the darts on the crown.

Children's hat with ears

In these models, you can give free rein to imagination. A child will love cat, dog or mouse ears.

Would need:

  • Fleece or any other knitted fabric - 0.5 m.
  • Fleece in contrasting colors for trimming ears, muzzle details (optional) - random size flaps.
  • Lining fabric.
  • Laces for ties are optional.
  • Threads to match.
  • Sewing machine.
  • Tailor's scissors, chalk.

The pattern is the child's old hat:

  • We circle it, we get two parts - the back and front halves.
  • We do the same with the lining.
  • We choose the size of the animal ears, we make a pattern of parts - triangles.
  • We cut out two parts of the ears from the main fabric, two from the contrasting ones - this is the inner surface of the ear.
  • If desired, we cut out the details of the face - eyes, cheeks, nose.

Advice! If a synthetic winterizer is laid under the details of the face, they will become more voluminous.

  • Sew the ear blanks together, turn them out.
  • Fold the halves of the cap with the front side inward, put the ears with a cut outward, with the tip inward.
  • We sew the hat.
  • Sewing the lining.
  • We turn it out. We spread our ears.
  • Insert the lining.
  • We mark the places for the ties (optional), sew them to the wrong side.
  • Sew the lining to the main piece, leaving a small hole.
  • We turn out the cap, sew up the hole.

Funny bright scarves and capes are perfectly combined with "eared" headdresses. Such a hat is a great reason to smile.

High-quality and original children's clothing has always been in short supply and was by no means cheap. This is especially true for children's warm hats. Therefore, we offer you a master class in which we will show you how to sew a children's hat with your own hands.

Tools and materials Time: 4 hours Difficulty: 6/10

  • fleece (or any soft fabric) in white and pink;
  • pattern;
  • matching sewing threads;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine.

For sewing such a hat, you can use any warm fabric, for example, polartek or fleece, or combine them.

First of all, we make a pattern, and for this we remove three measures:

  • girth of the face;
  • head circumference,
  • distance from the eyebrow line to the base of the skull.

Then we draw the grid of the drawing - a rectangle, the width of which is equal to the half-girth of the head + 2 cm, the height - to the half-girth of the face + 2 cm. If your hat is not warm, then you can not add allowances.

The key points of the drawing are denoted by the letters A, B, C, D. From point A we set aside 6-9 cm (depending on the size of the cap) and draw a horizontal line.

Then from point C we postpone the distance, which is equal to half the distance from the eyebrows to the base of the skull.

We draw another horizontal line.

Then we divide the segment AA1 in half and draw vertical lines. We do the same with the adjacent segment.

We draw a layout of our hat. In order for it to lie round the baby's head, we make several darts.

We lower the back of the head by 2 cm and make out the pattern with smooth lines, not forgetting about the ears.

For we take a piece of fabric and fold it in half. We apply the pattern with the front part to the fold, transfer it to the material and cut it out, making an allowance of 0.7 cm.

We cut the lining and insulation elements in the same way, but 1.5-2 mm less than the top.

We cut out the shape and length of the ears at our discretion.

How to sew a baby hat with earflaps

We fasten the details of the cap, starting from the front dart. In this case, it is imperative to carefully iron out all the seams.

We outline and draw off the pussy antennae.

Sew a seam on the back of the head and ears. Then we embed the ears into the side darts, connect the middle of the parts and sew with one line.

We attach an elastic band with a zigzag, you can also use a regular seam.

An elastic band is necessary so that the hat-cat fits snugly to the back of the baby's head.

Sew on the lining, connecting it along the contour with the insulation.

It remains to collect only the cap.

Funny hats with ears have recently become the most popular details not only in the images of children, but also adults. She has already ceased to be something funny and on the street it is not uncommon to meet a girl in such a hat. Today I will show you how to quickly and easily sew a beanie with knitted ears for your baby. It will be double, warm, cover your ears and will be perfect for the fall. This hat reminds me of a character from my favorite cartoon about Totoro.

To sew a hat with ears I needed:

  • jersey fabric 65 cm.
  • threads in color
  • tape 0.5 cm - length 10 cm.
  • needle No. 80 - 90 for a sewing machine for stretch or knitwear
  • tailor's tool: scissors, pins, ruler, marker

MK how to sew a hat with ears from knitwear step by step

1. I draw on the fabric a pattern with dimensions for a head circumference of 48 cm for a one-year-old child.

Note that this pattern is double. You need such parts - 2 pieces.

2. I fasten the details of the cap with the ears together with tailor's pins

3. Then on the overlock I connect the patterns along the edges. No overlock - you can use a zigzag stitch. On the one hand, I leave the section unstitched. You will need it to turn the cap on the front side.

4. Through this hole I turn the cap onto the front side. On the side where the unsewn area is, I leave the ears on the wrong side.

5. I put the details of the cap on top of each other, the ears should be made double. I form a lapel at the bottom.

6. I take the tape and tie her ears together.

Ready! Now you know how to sew this cute knitted hat.

Hello, friends!

Any mother wants the child to be dressed not only warmly, but also beautifully in cool weather. It's easier for a mom who knows how to sew. For example, a hat for a baby or teenager, she can easily sew herself.

Today we will consider a master class on sewing an unusual headdress for a child and answer the question - How to sew a baby hat with ears... They are sometimes called - animal caps.

Among the many models of such hats, there is one very simple cut. Easy and quick to sew.

Let's consider the cut and sewing of the cap with ears in detail. If you have wishes for other models, write in the comments or email.

So, let's start sewing a baby hat with ears.

You will need:

  1. Material cut length approx. 55 cm;
  2. Threads matching color;
  3. Chalk / soap for marking;
  4. Tape measure;
  5. Ruler;
  6. Pins;
  7. Scissors;
  8. Sewing machine;
  9. Iron;
  10. 30-40 minutes of free time.

What material is suitable for sewing a hat

So that the hat does not cause discomfort when wearing, make it from a stretchable material. Thin or medium-weight knitwear is perfect, for example, footer, ribbons, children's knitwear, fleece, etc.

You can sew a hat from a suitable jersey T-shirt or sweater that has served its purpose, if the child has grown up and the item is still in good condition. You can give a second life. Only pre-wash and iron out.

Note: It is advisable to make a pattern, taking into account the tensile coefficient of the selected canvas.Below I will tell you how.

Hat pattern and measurements

The model is very simple, so any child's hat can serve as a pattern.

If it turns out that there are no caps of the required size, take two measurements:

  • Head circumference Og (1);
  • The depth of the cap is Gsh (2).

note- measurements are taken and recorded in the whole size, not in half, as is often the case when taking other measurements from the figure.

What is the tensile coefficient for and how to find it

To draw a pattern, taking into account the properties of the selected material and the size of the child, we determine the coefficient of stretch of the canvas.

To do this, put marks on the canvas between an area of 10 cm.

And stretch the material.

Write down the resulting stretch value.

Let's say, from the initial 10 cm, the stretch is 2.5 cm = 12.5 cm.

Divide 10 by 12.5 = 0.8

0, 8 - coefficient of elongation for this web.

IMPORTANT! We stretch without fanaticism. Remember - the more you pull the canvas, the tighter the hat will fit and squeeze the child's head. We don't need discomfort!

The resulting measurement of head circumference is multiplied by 0.8

For example, Og - 56 x 0.8 = 44.8

Useful information:

For more information on how to determine the tensile coefficient,

We draw a pattern and cut a hat with ears

On a piece of paper, draw a rectangle, with one side equal to 1/2 the measurement of the Head circumference (taking into account the coefficient), and the other side equal to the measurement of 1/2 the depth of the cap.

Then round the corners as shown.

Note: If you are in doubt about measurements and calculations, you can cut out a blank, try on, make adjustments and make a cut on the main fabric.

Hat pattern first:

Refined pattern

I specially divided it into sections so that you can see the difference. I narrowed it a little on top, so it's more comfortable and beautiful.

Life hack
So that the detail of the hat pattern turns out to be even on both sides:

  • First circle the pattern to full size;
  • Mark the middle of the part;
  • Fold half of the pattern exactly along the line;
  • Circle along the contour of the second half;
  • Cut out a pattern.

We will sew a hat with ears. Therefore, we cut out additional details.

What animal do you like best - Cat, Bear, Fox, Wolf? We select and draw the “ears” of the desired animal. You will get an unusual "animal" hat. Can be decorated with a suitable applique or embroidery.

My hat has cat or kitty ears. Meow…

The result is a hat pattern:

The base of the cap - 1 piece with a fold;

"Ears" - 4 parts.

Cut open

Fold the material in two layers - the hat will be denser, warmer, and the seam will hide inside. Do not forget to mark the points of the location of the parts of the "ears".

For a hat with a lapel, step back from the fold along the bottom by the required amount, approximately 2.5 - 3.5 cm.

Note: We will consider the cutting and sewing of an interesting model of a hat with a lapel in the next issues. I recommend not to miss new publications.

Looking ahead, I'll show you a photo of the resulting hat.

If you change the design a little, it will suit even a teenager.

We outline the fold line. Basting stitching can be done.

After cutting, an oval-shaped blank is obtained.

Note: For the markup, I use a self-disappearing marker. A handy tool. The drawn line disappears after a few hours. Typically, these markers or pencils are sold at craft stores or sewing equipment stores.

Serves a long time - mine is 3 years old, he is as good as new. The main thing is not to heat the markings, otherwise it will remain for a long time.

Sewing hats

Sewing a hat is very simple:

  • We check the evenness of the cut;
  • We fold the details of the "ears" face to face, grind along the contour, turn it out;
  • We lay the details of the “ears” according to the markings, mark them or pin them;

  • We cut or sweep the parts along the contour, leaving the area for turning out open.
  • We lay a line along the cuts on a sewing machine or overlock (if available).

In this case, I use a special needle with a rounded tip (so as not to break the fibers) and an elastic stitch for knitwear. A zigzag stitch and even a straight stitch work well if set to the smallest pitch.

  • After sewing off the parts, gently iron along the seam.
  • Cut off excess allowances.
  • We turn it out.

  • Sew up the open area manually with blind stitches or on a sewing machine.
  • Putting one part of the part into another, we form a hat.

The hat is ready. If there is material left, make a scarf.

You can decorate the model with appliqué or paint the hat with special paints or markers.

Useful information:

The resulting model is demonstrated by my son Ivan.

Well, okay, mom, although the hat is children's, but the color is cool ...
