Divide an A4 sheet into two halves. 
Bend the strip from one edge to a small width (0.8-1.2 cm). 
Bend the edge again, now in the other direction. Bend the edge again and again, changing position from the wrong side to the front side. A very important condition - the more assemblies, the better the snowflake will turn out. But you should not make too narrow stripes either - it will be inconvenient to cut out the pattern. Bend each "accordion" in half in one direction and the other.

The edges of snowflakes can be connected with glue, but much faster and stronger - with adhesive tape. Cut out strips of double-sided tape and stick on both sides. 
Remove the protective layer and connect the "accordion" on one side, pressing the edges.

How to make a three-dimensional snowflake out of paper in stages:
1. We fold the sheets of paper so that we get a triangle, and subsequently a square. 
3. We add the resulting triangles again. 
4. Draw lines on the triangles, as shown in the photo. 
5. We make cuts along the lines, cutting a triangle in the middle and not cutting the middle lines to the end. 
6. Expand the future snowflake. 
7. We smear the corner of the middle strip with glue. 
8. Glue the snowflakes to the middle. 
9. We repeat the same thing with a parallel strip.

In this example, I took A4 sheets for printing: one cyan, one white and one purple. Since in total we need 20 strips, we draw strips along the long side of each sheet a centimeter wide. 8 blue, 8 white and 4 purple. 
Such a voluminous paper snowflake consists of two identical parts. For one part, we take 4 blue stripes, 4 white and 2 purple, weave them together as in the photo (plain weave). To prevent this design from crumbling, fix it in several places with clerical glue. 
We glue the strips extreme to the corners (blue) in pairs to make a right angle at the tip. If the glue does not set immediately, then temporarily, before the glue dries, use paper clips. 
Then glue the white stripes on the back. This is one part of the future snowflake. 
Weave and glue the second, exactly the same part. 
We connect the two parts. The rays of the first should be between the rays of the second. The remaining free strips (purple) are pulled into the rays and glued by the tip. The body of the snowflake is ready, now it is solid and can be hung. We cut off the excess sticking out on the rays so that the tips are pointed, and if there is a desire to supplement the figure with something, then we supplement it. I tried using pearl sequins. 
As a result, we get a rather large voluminous paper snowflake, about 25 cm in diameter. If you need less, then cut the A4 sheet across, along the narrow side, and take the strip width 0.5 cm.

To create snowflakes you will need:
- paper of three colors (you can also one),
- scissors,
- glue stick or PVA.
How to make a voluminous paper snowflake with your own hands:
In the work we will use the extra stripes that we cut off in the manufacture of the previous snowflakes - white, blue and purple. First, cut out squares of the same size. Then we will begin to fold each square in half, forming a triangle. 
Then fold a second time. 
Next, you can use a pencil, or you can simply make even cuts along the longest edge of the triangles with scissors. You need to start cutting not from the side of the last fold, but from the side of the connection of the sides of the triangle, as shown in the photo. 
We unfold each resulting cut square and begin to glue all the corners. Middle first.

- You need to make six more large coils and bend their sides with your fingers so that you get a square. We glue them with the top to large coils.
- We take a pencil and wind a paper strip around it, glue the end of the strip and remove the coil. We glue this part to one of the tops of the snowflake and thread a ribbon or rope into the ring.

Instructions for a step-by-step snowflake master class from a book for the New Year
- First you need to draw book sheets into strips of 2 centimeters wide.
- For one side, you will need 7 of these strips: 1 the full length of the page, two 2 centimeters shorter, two more 2 cm shorter than the previous ones, and two strips 6 centimeters shorter than the first.
- The longest strip should be folded in half in the form of a loop, gluing the bottom edges together. On the sides, you need to fold the strips shorter, also gluing their lower parts, as in the photo below.
- Repeat these manipulations with the remaining strips and fix them under heavy oppression, for example, a table lamp.
- When the workpiece dries, you should additionally fix its edges with a thin fishing line. In general, you will need 6-8 such blanks for one snowflake.
- Draw the book sheet again into strips of the same length. Cut and roll into a tight ring, tie with a fishing line. The ring can also be additionally smeared with transparent glue.
- After complete drying, you should proceed to the connection of the craft. To do this, the end of the workpiece is tightly coated with glue and connected to the ring.
- We repeat with each workpiece.
- To better fasten the snowflake, glue the extreme loops of adjacent rays of the snowflake with glue.
- As a decor, small sparkles are suitable, which should be applied to the side edges of the snowflake. You can also use pieces of garlands, sequins, small beads.
- Then you need to make a loop of fishing line so that you can attach a snowflake, for example, to a Christmas tree. Ready!
Do-it-yourself children's paper snowflake using origami technique, master class
The art of origami is multifaceted and difficult, but with the right instructions in this technique, you can make a fairly simple craft with your own hands, for example, a children's snowflake. True, to be frank to the end, the next master class with a photo made exclusively in the origami technique cannot be called. In it, for children's do-it-yourself paper snowflakes, in addition to the origami technique, threads with scissors will also be used.
Necessary materials for origami children's snowflakes for the New Year

Instructions for the master class of children's snowflakes using the origami technique
- To begin with, we cut out a strip 5-7 cm wide and about 20 cm long. Using a pencil and a ruler, we make notes on each centimeter along the length. Cut out an imitation of a “fence” from above, as shown in the photo. In the middle of the resulting columns we draw small rhombuses. Then we mark the middle of each centimeter with dots and pierce them with a thin needle.
- Now we take the ruler and put it on top of the first line dividing our “fence” section in half. Carefully bend the workpiece inward, and then remove the ruler and bend it in the opposite direction. We repeat the same with each section. The result should be an accordion, as in the photo below.
- Hold the harmonica tightly with the fingers of one hand and cut out the rhombuses outlined earlier in the middle of each section with scissors.
- We take a needle and thread and carefully thread it through the small holes that we already pierced with a needle two steps back.
On a note! The thread must be taken tight so that it firmly holds the finished structure!
- When the thread has already passed through all the points, we introduce it again into the first hole to close the structure.
- We remove the needle and begin to gradually tighten the thread until a tight ring is formed. We tie the thread into a knot, and put a coil on top of the snowflake to straighten it.

- Using a ruler and a simple pencil, you need to draw a sheet. To do this, we make marks of 0.5 cm along the width of the sheet and draw lines along the entire length. Then cut out the strips with scissors.
- To form rolls, you will need an awl. We wind the strip on it quite tightly, and then let the roll unfold a little and glue the edge to its base.
- At the heart of the snowflake there will be one round element and six drop-shaped rolls. To get an element in the form of a drop, you need to lightly squeeze one edge of the round roll with your fingers. We connect the structure with glue.
- Now add six eye-shaped rolls to the base. We will also make them from round rolls, but already flattening both edges with our fingers. Glue the "eyes" between the drops according to the pattern below.
- Now we need small rolls, so we fold the standard strip in half and cut it into two parts. From each small strip we twist a small round roll. To begin with, you need six pieces of such elements.
- Glue small rolls along the edges of the elements in the form of a cat's eye.
- We twist six standard large rolls.
- We glue them to the drop-shaped elements, as shown in the diagram below.
- Now we need six square rolls. We will form them from standard round ones, slightly flattening the sides into a square shape.
- We glue the squares to large round elements, after turning them over into the shape of rhombuses.
- It remains to twist a large round roll according to the standard scheme and glue it to the top of our craft. Let the snowflake dry completely and thread the thread through a large roll. Ready!
How to cut a New Year's snowflake 2017 out of paper with your own hands, diagrams and templates
The easiest way to make a Christmas snowflake with your own hands is to cut it out of paper according to a ready-made template or pattern. Such simple, but at the same time very beautiful do-it-yourself snowflakes are available primarily for children's creativity. However, there are quite complex schemes with which you can make even large and voluminous decorative snowflakes, which, in their originality, will not be inferior to origami or quilling crafts. This step by step tutorial will teach you how to make SIX pointed paper snowflakes. Most people make (or most tutorials teach how to make) 4- or 8-point options. In nature, snowflakes always have 6 vertices (in extreme cases, three). I decided to be closer to nature, and chose the option with 6 ends. I myself learned this technique at school, and every year before the New Year I make a lot of snowflakes.
All you need for this project is paper and scissors. Some people use some kind of colored, fancy paper, but I cut out pure white snowflakes - it's easier and more natural.
Stage 1: Starting with a square
Start simply with a square white sheet. I usually make two snowflakes from each A4 sheet, so first I cut it in half, then I cut a square out of each half. The size of the snowflakes is about 10 cm. If you are just learning, it is easier to start with a larger size of snowflakes, cutting out one from a whole sheet of A4.
Making a square out of a rectangle is very easy. Lay the sheet in front of you and attach one of the upper corners of the sheet to the opposite side so that an isosceles triangle is formed (such as you see in the photo). The extra piece of the sheet just needs to be cut off evenly.
Step 2: Fold in half
Fold the square diagonally to form a triangle.
Stage 3: Cut in half again
Fold the resulting triangle in half again to make a smaller triangle.
Step 4: Triple fold
Imagine a triangle divided into three equal parts, and fold it in three. If you like to be precise, you can use a protractor, each third equals a 30 degree angle.
Step 5: Fold Again
Bend and fold the left third. Try to keep the folds clear and all thirds are equal. This will make the snowflake as symmetrical as possible.
Step 6: Cut off the top
Cut off the top edge of the paper at an angle. Make sure you cut off all layers of the folded paper so that the cut is the same on all sides of the snowflake. The corner cut forms the tops of the snowflake. Over time, you will learn to cut at different angles to make more or less sharp peaks.
Stage 7: Pattern
And this is where your imagination comes into play. Start cutting off different shapes on the sides of the folded paper. Smaller triangles are easiest to cut out, but don't forget to experiment with different shapes.
For this snowflake, I slightly changed the top edge so that my tops are of a different shape. I also cut out a couple of "thorns" inside. Use your imagination to decorate!
I don't use any stencils for my snowflakes, I just cut and design as I go. I never get two of the same. Sometimes I find some elements that I like and use them in several snowflakes, but I have never completely copied the ornament.
Stage 8: Reversal
Once the cut is complete, carefully unfold the snowflake.
At first the snowflake will not be even and flat, so I usually put the snowflake between the pages of the book for a while to make it even. I also ironed them (between two sheets of paper) to make them perfectly smooth. In this case, be careful as the paper can become very hot (never use a steamer!). Therefore, before taking a snowflake in your hands, let it cool down. And of course, remember the flammability of paper.
Ironing will make the snowflake a little stiffer, which is great if you plan on hanging it up rather than gluing it to some surface.
Stage 9: Inspiration
Materials:
- Use sharp scissors and keep your hands clean. Dirty hands will leave marks on the snowflakes, which is not very festive!
- Some people recommend using nail scissors, they are easier to cut intricate patterns. I don't like it for two reasons. Firstly, nail scissors are uncomfortable to hold in your hand. And is it important. Secondly, you can go overboard with the ornateness of the pattern, too many tiny cuts and insufficient cutting along the contours can turn a snowflake into a lacy doily. The look and feel is lost.
- Snowflake carving experts recommend using tracing paper and an X-acto knife for finer ornaments and more perfect symmetry. But I still prefer plain paper and scissors - they are in every home and are safe for children, you can cut snowflakes together.
- Some people cut out snowflakes from wrapping paper or other colorful paper. You can use any material to create the desired effect. Clean, white paper is closer to my soul simply because I wildly like to create beauty from something simple and ordinary.
Cutting process:
- I usually make my snowflakes while I sit on a couch or chair with a coffee table in front of me, holding a small trash can at my feet. On the table it is convenient for me to fold the paper, and then I sit comfortably and cut out the ornament, throwing the scraps into the urn. So I don't litter around me in the process.
- When folding paper, steps 4-5 are the most difficult, especially dividing the triangle into three equal parts “by eye”. When you fold the second side part, it often turns out that it is not equal to the other two. Then you have to unfold and bend the parts over again, and so on until you get three equal parts. The more identical parts you get, the more symmetrical the snowflake will be in the spread. Given the thickness of the paper and the number of folds, getting a perfectly symmetrical snowflake is next to impossible. The biggest asymmetry will be in the center: look at my snowflakes. The asterisk in the center of some of them is not perfect. Real snowflakes also have defects, so don't worry too much about it.
- Avoid what I call "voids". This is when you cut out the snowflake in step 7, and leave a large space of paper without any cuts. Any place on a snowflake more than half a centimeter can be decorated, for example, with the same “thorns” that I cut out in my snowflake. Otherwise, when you unroll the snowflake, you end up with a rough ornament instead of a patterned, detailed snowflake. Too flickering in the pattern is also not worth it, it is better to use small and large details together.
Snowflake decoration:
- Stick a small piece of double-sided sticky tape on each top of the snowflake and stick it on the surface to be decorated. I like to hang them on windows so they can be seen both from inside and outside. At night they look beautiful in the dark.
- You can also hang snowflakes from the ceiling, but be careful as they are quite fragile. For such purposes, it will be better to cut out snowflakes with thicker outlines and not too detailed ornamentation (think of a snowflake with a wide “skeleton” and small details around the main lines). White thread or fishing line is suitable for hanging.
- Snowflakes can be beautifully decorated with New Year's gifts instead of bows. I like to just stick one snowflake on the gift box and a card with the recipient's name on top of the snowflake. A lacy snowflake creates a beautiful backdrop for a signature.
- Don't throw away the A4 cutoffs after cutting out the squares. Use this paper to cut out small snowflakes that hang beautifully between larger ones. This will create a beautiful scattering effect and fill in the space between large snowflakes. Unfortunately, this idea came to me after I took the photos below.
Step 10: Analyze it
If you want to try to copy the snowflakes you saw somewhere, then you need to understand the idea of \u200b\u200bhow you can repeat someone else's drawing. Looking at the finished snowflake, try to visualize a repeating fragment of the ornament. This snowflake contains 12 identical pieces. This will be the fragment between the two lines. One line bisects the top, going from the center. And the second line runs between the two vertices in the middle. You can imagine a snowflake as a clock, and the lines we need are between 12 and 13 o'clock. See the markings in the photo.
This fragment shows which cuts need to be made on both sides in order to end up with the same snowflake. If you look at a dark background, then all the dark fragments are what you need to cut out.
From time to time I try to copy real snowflakes that I find in a book or on the Internet. Of course, it is impossible to completely recreate a snow crystal, since a snowflake has a very complex structure, and it is a three-dimensional figure, not a flat one. Snowflakes are often multi-layered, and we are dealing with just one piece of paper ... However, you can try to get as close as possible to the shape of a real snowflake.
Real snowflakes have a lot of "gaps" in patterns that don't look good when transferred to paper. I flipped through the whole book of snowflake photographs, and there were very few copies that looked like simple hexagons with simple details. If your chosen snowflake has too much “free space”, use it anyway in the paper copy, complicating the pattern. Since this is not an exact copy, you can improve it without any problems!
Use the technique described in step 10. Imagine that the snowflake is a cake and the repeating pattern is a piece of cake. Or think of the snowflake as the face of a clock.

How to cut a paper snowflake
Turning a humble piece of paper into a luxurious snowflake is surprisingly easy. All we need for the New Year's magic is paper, scissors, beautiful diagrams, a pencil, some free time and inspiration!
First, from a square sheet of paper, we fold the blank for the future snowflake, as shown in the picture below. Using different schemes, hundreds, if not thousands, of snowflakes of the most unpredictable shapes and patterns can be cut from such a triangular base.
With a simple pencil, we transfer the drawings according to the diagrams to the base and cut out snowflakes from paper.

Making a voluminous snowflake out of paper is not much more difficult than ordinary paper, but it looks much more spectacular. With these amazing 3D snowflakes, you can decorate a Christmas tree or simply hang them in a room to create a New Year's atmosphere. Six square sheets of paper, scissors, glue, a stapler, 15 minutes of free time and a little inspiration - that's probably all we need to assemble a beautiful 3D snowflake for the New Year. If desired, the snowflake can be made multi-colored by making individual elements from colored paper. Until you fill your hand, practice on plain white paper, especially since snow-white classics are always relevant in New Year's decor.
1. First of all, we make six such blank squares for the future snowflake. To do this, you can download and print blanks for a small or large snowflake on a printer. In order for a large snowflake to keep its shape, it is advisable to use high-density paper. We fold each square in half diagonally and make cuts with scissors, moving from the fold to the center line.
We open the diagonally folded square with cuts and put it in front of us as shown in the picture on the left. We twist the first row of strips with a tube and fasten them with glue.
We turn the snowflake over to the other side and take the next two strips: connect and fasten with glue. We continue in the same spirit: turn the snowflake over and fasten the remaining strips. As a result of the manipulations done, we should get such a bizarrely twisted element.
This is one of the rays of our future snowflake, and we need exactly six of these! Therefore, we do the same with the remaining five square blanks. We connect three rays of snowflakes in the middle with a stapler. We connect the remaining three rays in the same way. Now we connect the two large parts together.
Our beauty is almost ready! It remains only to connect the snowflake with glue in those places where the rays touch each other so that the snowflake keeps its shape well.
There is! Phew, done it! Well, aren't we great?! Now to make it colorful...
How to make a three-dimensional origami snowflake
The cult snowflake by Dennis Walker, with its sophistication and beauty, won more than one heart, and more than one amateur origami player was put into a stupor. What do you say, let's not let a piece of paper intimidate us? Or weak? If you decide to test your strength, pictures, step-by-step instructions and video tutorials from Sarah Adams will help you. Don't get lost! You will probably have to spend at least an hour on your first snowflake. Once you understand the principle of creating snowflakes, things will go faster. And one more nuance: the thinner the paper, the more elegant the snowflakes will turn out. Translucent translucent snowflakes will look great on the window. Well, you can train on ordinary office paper.
Before proceeding directly to the creation of a snowflake, we need to turn a square or rectangular piece of paper into a hexagon. This is one of the most crucial moments on which the success of the whole undertaking depends.
1. Fold the paper in half twice to get clear fold lines.
2. We add one corner with the top to the center. We bend the top valve to the edge. We now have two additional fold lines.
3. Again we bend the paper in half as shown in the left picture. To get the figure from the right image, we use two X marks as reference points and bend valve A along the dotted line.
4. Combining the red and blue lines, we bend valve B. The result of the manipulation should be a shape similar to a heart.
5. With scissors we cut off a part of the workpiece along the blue line, focusing on two X points as reference centers. For further work, we need only part A - the hexagon.

6. We bend one of the sides of the hexagon to the center to get a fold line. We do the same with all six sides. Now inside our hexagon there are many fold lines forming small triangles.
7. Again we bend the edge of the hexagon to the center. Using the fold lines we made in the previous step, fold flap A to flap B like in the left image. Similarly, we add the other sides of the hexagon until we get a figure that resembles a pinwheel in shape. The last flap may cause you some confusion as it will be hidden under the fold. We pull it out so that we get 6 valves sticking out, as in the image on the right.
8. Lightly press your finger on the fold of each pocket to get something similar to the image in the center. Which of the valves will be on top, does not matter.
9. To make the fold lines for the next step, on each unfolded pocket, we bend two blue corners to the central part of the dotted line. The resulting figure should look like the right picture.
10. To open the fold lines, carefully unfold the folds we made in step 8. In each pocket, we combine the blue dot X with the red dot X. The fold lines obtained in the ninth step will help us with this. When we do this operation with all six pockets, our workpiece will look like in the picture on the right.
11. We turn the workpiece over and bend each corner of the hexagon to the center. Each adjacent fold should form a small flap. Let it stay on top, don't hide it under the fold. If you get a figure similar to the picture on the right, then you did everything right.
12. We press the fold line of each of the small flaps to form new fold lines necessary for the next step.
13. We turn out the folds that we made in step 11, hiding the flaps from the bottom.
14. We turn the workpiece over, turn each corner as far as possible from the center and bend it. We should get 12 valves - 6 small and 6 large.
15. Turning the workpiece over, you will see small valves between the two large valves. Each small valve is pushed forward. We should now have six diamonds.
16. For each half of the rhombus, pull the blue edge to the center of the rhombus and press the fold to the edge. As a result, we will get a figure, as in the picture on the right. It remains to repeat this action 12 times and our snowflake is ready!

How to make a kirigami snowflake out of paper
Kirigami is one of the types of origami, the main distinguishing feature of which is that in the process of making a model it is allowed to use scissors and cut paper. The method of cutting unusual kirigami snowflakes is not much different from making ordinary paper snowflakes, but they look much more creative and interesting. First of all, we make such a template, with which even a child can make the correct six-ray snowflake. To do this, on a sheet of paper with the help of a protractor, we build an angle of 60 degrees.
