Prada - brand story. The history of the Prada brand (Prada) Hometown of the prada company

It is probably difficult to find a person who has at least a remote idea of fashion, but at the same time has never heard of Prada... The world famous Fashion House is now engaged in a wide variety of clothing, both women and men, footwear, perfumes and accessories. Brand name Prada also flaunts on the company's mobile phones Lg(LG Prada model could go down in history as the world's first phone with a finger-oriented interface), on a wristwatch. This name has firmly entered the culture and is periodically mentioned in the mass media (it seems that everyone watched the film "The Devil Wears Prada", based on the novel of the same name).

It all started with a small leather goods store Fratelli prada (it. "Brothers Prada"), which opened in 1913 in Milan (Milan, Italy) - there is the headquarters there to this day Prada S.p.A... It was founded by brothers Mario and Martino Prada. At first, the assortment was based on suitcases and travel bags exported from the UK, on which the brand was placed Fratelli prada... But the store did not sell everything in a row - the brothers initially relied on high-quality stylish products, which are not available to everyone. The calculation turned out to be correct - quickly enough Fratelli prada becomes one of the famous brands in the fashion world. By 1970, he comes to the United States and Latin America.

However, it's one thing to be just famous, it's another to become a trendsetter. It is not known what it would be now Prada, if not for Miuccia Prada, granddaughter of Mario. She took over the board in 1979. However, she made the coup not alone, but in alliance with businessman Patrizio Bertelli, whom she met in 1977. Together they took Prada what this brand is now. The relationship between Miuccia and Patrizio was not limited solely to business - they got married in 1987.

First of all, Miuchiya has expanded its product range by complementing leather accessories with clothing. It took quite a long time, because such things do not happen overnight. The first collection of clothes Prada(and was developed by Miuchiya herself) was introduced in 1988. The public took it with a bang. Thus, a new brand was born, supplanting Fratelli prada.

One of the brand's features Prada is the desire to preserve tradition. So, all manufactured products are extremely expensive. When it was required to create a line of inexpensive youth clothing, it was decided not to dilute the Prada, and create a new brand - this is how the brand appeared in 1992 Miu Miu .

Today, the brand Prada is synonymous with success and well-being. Branded boutiques of the brand can be found in many cities around the world. Many of these stores have been designed by renowned architects. About success Prada says the fact that this particular fashion brand is the leader in the number of fakes.

Prada discoveries

Signora Prada (Ed. - Michua Prada) is never afraid that she will be "misunderstood" and often goes against fashionable trends and widespread trends. Fashion critics

The very first collection of clothes, released by Prada in 1989, was notable for its non-standard. At a time when everyone is wearing bright colors, Miuccia launches a collection that is almost completely black, using unconventional materials and finishes: latex is adorned with beads and mirror shards. Miucciu was also successful when she replaced thick leather with lightweight nylon in the production of bags. Subsequently, unusual combinations of materials, together with high-quality technology and design, became the trademark of the Prada fashion house.

Founding of Prada

The history of the brand began in Milan, where in 1913 Mario Prada opened a store selling elegant travel bags. The company was then called Fratelli Prada (Prada Brothers). Her know-how was used for the production of soft walrus leather accessories. Exclusive materials and excellent workmanship have attracted the attention of wealthy customers to Fratelli Prada products.

By the late 1970s, the demand for luxury python, walrus and crocodile bags had plummeted. The company was on the brink of ruin. The granddaughter of Mario Prada Miuccia, who headed the brand in 1978, breathed new life into the Prada fashion house. In 1989, in addition to the leather collections, she launched the first clothing collection (and now she does it regularly). And in 1992, a more democratic line of the Miu Miu brand (a diminutive for Miuccia) appeared.

Prada perfumery conquers the market

The first fragrances of the brand were released in 2000. Their release was limited, and at that time it was possible to purchase Prada perfumes only in the brand's boutiques. The beginning of perfumery “globalization” was the Prada Eau de Parfum fragrance, released in mass circulation in 2004.

Infusion d'Iris was the next Prada scent, and Infusion d'Iris was created by perfumer Daniela Andrieu, based on high-quality natural ingredients: orange, tangerine, iris, cedar and incense. The aroma is refined, clean and fresh. The packaging design was personally developed by Miuccia Prada. The vintage-style rectangular bottle with the brand's signature light green cap is adorned with a metal label engraved with the Prada logo. This scent marks the beginning of a new perfume line with the same name - Infusion d'Iris. One of the latest representatives of the series is Infusion d`Iris Eau de Parfum Absolue. It is an oriental variation of the iris theme, arranged with Tunisian neroli, orange blossom and vanilla from the island of Madagascar.

Prada Owners

After a series of successful and not so successful mergers and acquisitions, Prada has grown into an international conglomerate of fashion houses and a direct competitor to the LVMN concern. In 1999-2000 Prada acquired the brands Fendi (then the company was sold to LVMN), Helmut Lang, Jil Sander, Azzedine Alaia. At the head of the Prada fashion corporation are Miuccia Prada and her husband Patrizio Bertelli.

Manufacturers Prada

Prada is one of the few companies that have not yet moved their production facilities to the countries of Asia, partly due to the high cost of the brand's products.
