The long-awaited season is not far off - summer. During the long winter days, we all miss the summer sun so much. As soon as possible, I want to bask in its warm rays.

But, despite this desire, you must always remember that solar energy is fraught with danger. It is especially important to protect our children, because rejoicing in the summer weather, they are ready to spend the whole day playing outside. How to protect children from such insidious sun?

Of course, hats are the main protectors. They protect the heads of children, covering them with themselves. Summer hats are diverse. These are caps, scarves, berets, baseball caps, bandanas, hats, and of course panamas. It is the children's panama that our today's master class will be devoted to.

Surely every girl has a little dream to have a large selection of panamas in her wardrobe, for every summer outfit. Our master class will help mothers or grandmothers make this desire a reality, since it is very easy to sew a panama hat with your own hands for a girl. To do this, you only need to choose the right material and you can get down to business.

So, what materials and tools will be needed in order to sew a summer panama hat for a girl? And not just a panama hat, but a double-sided panama hat, thanks to which its functionality increases.

Materials for sewing children's panama:

  1. Textile. For summer clothes for children, always choose fabrics with a natural composition, as only such material will protect babies from the sultry heat. In this master class, we will show you how to sew a double-sided panama, therefore, you need to prepare two pieces of fabric, 30 cm each and a width of 110 cm. When choosing a material, pay attention to the quality of its coloring, so that the fabric will not β€œfade” when cutting. It is advisable to select fabrics with a similar composition in order to avoid shrinkage of one relative to the other. For the same purpose, before opening the fabric, it is imperative that it be decated, that is, washed or steamed.
  2. Sewing threads to match.
  3. Needles, pins.
  4. Tailor's chalk or disappearing fabric marker.
  5. Scissors.

Panama hat (panama) pattern with brim for girls:

The next thing to prepare is a panama pattern. Print it on A4 paper and cut out.

If you plan to use the pattern many times, we recommend transferring it to regular plastic wrap, as it is more durable than paper.

How to sew a panama hat for a girl with your own hands - a master class with a photo:

So, having prepared all the details of the pattern, you can start cutting out a children's panama hat with fields. Lay the fabric in one layer and use the pins to secure the piece of the upper part of the crown (piece # 1). Observe the direction of the chain thread. Circle with chalk, remembering to transfer all control marks.

Cut this piece with a 1.5cm seam allowance.

Now fold the fabric in two layers.

And secure with pins the pattern of the lower part of the crown (part # 2), aligning the part with the fold line of the fabric. Remember to transfer registration marks.

Cut this part with the same allowances as the previous one.

In the same way, cut out part No. 3 - Panama's fields.

These are the parts ready for one side of the panama. From another piece of fabric, you should cut out all the same details for the second side of the panama.

Fasten the lower part of the panama crown folded in half with pins to prevent the fabric from shifting.

Sew a seam on the sewing machine, backing from the edge of 1.5 cm.

The seam allowances must be ironed out.

In the same way, a seam is made on the crown of the second (red) side of the panama.

Now connect the lower part of the crown with pins to its upper part, while aligning the control mark A on both parts. If you are not used to using pins for basting, then you can sweep these parts with hand stitches.

This is how it looks from the inside.

Stitch these parts with the sewing machine, leaving a 1.5 cm (1⁄4 in) seam allowance.

Remove the basting. Turn the allowances onto the bottom of the panama crown.

Unscrew the resulting part.

To lock the seam allowances in position, sew the machine stitch along the seam, at a distance of 3 mm.

Do the same with the red (second) part of the children's panama hat.
Now let's prepare the Panama fields. To do this, fasten the parts folded in half with the right side inward with pins.

Sew on the sewing machine with a 1.5 cm seam allowance.

Also press the allowances in different directions.

The fields of the second side of the Panama are performed in the same way.

Fold the finished fields of both sides of the panama right sides to each other. Secure with pins.

Stitch the outside edges of the sewing machine.

To remove excess thickness, cut the allowances close to the stitching.

Turn the panama brims right side out.

Iron them well.

Now the margins need to be stitched along the outer edge at a distance of 7mm. This is necessary to fix the layers. If you want to give the panama's fields additional rigidity, then you can lay a few more lines in the same way at a distance of 1 cm of arcs from each other. But this time we decided to leave it as it is.

Secure the open inner cuts of the fields with each other using hand stitches.

On the bottom of the red side crown, also hand-stitch. Pulling the ends of the thread, gather a little, while evenly distributing the folds

Connect with pins the fields of the panama and the crown (red) as shown in the photo. Do not forget to match the B mark.

Then sew on the sewing machine.

Press the allowances towards the crown.

On the second (green) crown, press the lower cut allowances to the wrong side.

Insert this piece of the crown into the already prepared panama hat, aligning the seamy sides. Connect them together with pins or sweep with hand stitches.

Turn out the panama hat.

Tie the crown to the panama's brim.

fields - 2 pcs.

Pattern preparation.

1. Check the compliance of the scale on your printer: in the printer settings, set the document print scale to 100% (no scaling); print a square 10 * 10 cm; check with a ruler that the print is correct.

2. Print the pattern sheets on the printer and connect them according to the marks in accordance with the numbering. Numbering 1 (1) means: the first digit is the row number, the second digit is the sheet number in the row.

3. Cut out the details of the pattern.

4. Parts are given with seam allowances, the dotted line shows the real contours of the parts.

5. Cut out the fabric parts.

Head processing.

1. Take two wedges, fold right side in and sew with an even seam 1 cm wide without tension.

2. Press the seams open and topstitch at a distance of 0.2 cm from the seam seam.

3. Repeat the operation with the remaining 2 wedges.

4. It turned out two parts from two wedges each.

5. Fold these two pieces right-side in so that the seams converge exactly in the center of the head.

6. Sweep from the center, first in one direction and then in the other direction.

7. Stitch center seam.

8. Detach the center seam in the same way as the previous ones, iron out all seams.

Field processing.

1. The fields can be prepared on glue fabric, non-woven or coarse calico.

2. The spacer is cut out 0.5 cm less on the outer edge than the top of the margins.

3. Sew the ends of the gasket with a 1 cm seam.

4. Press the seams apart.

5. Connect the ends of the fields together, sew with a seam 1 cm wide.

6. Press the seams apart.

7. On the part of the top of the fields from the wrong side, impose a part of the gasket.

8. The outer edge of the pad should extend from the edge of the margins at a distance of 0.5 cm.

9. Sweep the gasket in three places - along the edges and in the center.

10. Top seams and gaskets must match.

11. Fold the top and bottom of the brim with the right sides inward, aligning the seams.

12. Sweep around the outer edge and stitch with a 0.5 cm seam.

13. The seam of the seam of the fields should come close to the pad, but not over it.

14. Trim excess fabric at the seam, leaving no more than 0.5 cm.

15. Turn the margins to the right side.

16. Sweep the margins in several places (along the outer edge, in the middle, and along the inner edge), straightening the joint seam so that it is exactly in the middle and does not cross to either side.

17. Iron the fields well, first through a damp cloth, then through a dry one.

18. If desired, the fields can be stitched. The fields are stitched in parallel lines at a distance of 0.5-0.7 cm from one another, starting from the middle at the back. The first line is laid, and then, without breaking the threads, they gradually move to the second and so, in a spiral, they scribble all the fields.

The sun is hot every day more and more and babies cannot do without a headdress on a walk. With the help of our master class, you can easily sew a panama hat for a girl with your own hands.
For sewing a panama hat, it is better to choose a dense natural fabric. You can even use old jeans. Use a thin cotton fabric for the lining. You will need 0.3 m of the main fabric and 0.2 m of the lining fabric with a width of at least 1.4 m. You will also need a thin plastic dublerin or non-woven fabric, threads in color, scissors, a ruler, a pencil and a rep braid for decoration.

1. Having set the margins to 0, print and cut out the details of the pattern: the upper (bottom) and lower parts of the crown, margins. The pattern is suitable for children 1-2 years old, head volume 46-48 cm.

2. From the main fabric, cut out the upper part of the crown 1 piece, the lower part of the crown 1 piece with a fold, margins 2 of the piece with a fold. Only the details of the crown are cut from the lining. The fold must necessarily be along the shared thread. Allowances at all seams 1 cm.
3. Reinforce all parts made of the main fabric with dublerin or non-woven fabric. You need to iron with an iron without steam in the "cotton" mode through a thin fabric.
4. Sew the margins and the lower part of the crown into a ring. Smooth out the seams.

5. Stitch the top of the crown to the bottom. To get a neat seam, the details must first be swept and stitched from the bottom side.

6. Sweep and then sew together the outside edges of the margins with the right sides inward.
7. Cut off the allowances to 0.5 cm, carefully turn out the crown and margins.
8. Unscrew the allowances along the stitching line of the panama bottom on the lower part of the crown and sew from the front side, 2 mm away from the seam. Fasten the cuts on the lining in the same way.

9. Firmly sweep and stitch the fields. Lay the first line at a distance of 0.6 cm from the edge, then make 5 more lines parallel to it with an interval of 0.6 cm. Steam the fields well.
10. Connect the margins and the crown, making a seam 0.8 cm from the end stitch in the margins. Cut the allowances to 0.7 cm, turn to the side of the crown.
11. Sew a 49 cm piece of rep tape into a ring. In this case, lay the seam slightly obliquely so that you can tightly sew the tape to the hat.
12. Having retreated 1 mm from the seam of the stitching of the fields, sew the tape to the crown with two lines at the top and bottom.

So the warm season has come, sunny days, swimming, walking. The mood is high. So it's time to sit down at the typewriter and sew something new. πŸ™‚

I suggest sew a baby hat for a girl, which is just relevant for the season.

p.s According to the same scheme, you can sew a panama hat for a boy, we will reduce the width of the fields.

The process will not take long. And the result will be beautiful and delight you and those around you, and most importantly - to protect your baby's head from the sun.

Materials:

  • The main fabric is approximately 0.5 x 0.5 m square.
  • Thermal fabric to strengthen the margins 7 cm x 60 cm.
  • Threads to match or in harmony with the color of the fabric
  • Bow (flower) for decoration (optional)
  • Tools (machine, scissors, basting needles)
  • Pattern

The panama pattern can be easily drawn by yourself according to this scheme:

To build a pattern to the desired size measure your head circumference and divide by 3.14 (Og / 3.14 = D)- this will be the diameter of the panama bottom.

The radius of the panama's fields is calculated by the formula:

R2 = Head circumference / 2 * 3.14 + width of the panama brim (6-13 cm).

Crown - rectangle AB = A1B1 - head circumference, AA1 = BB1 - product depth (usually 9-10 cm.)

Solid geometry. πŸ™‚

How to sew a children's panama hat. Master class with a photo.

We cut out the details of the panama hat from the prepared fabric (according to this pattern):

Add 1.5 cm seam allowances.

Crown - 2 pieces with a fold

Fields - 4 parts

Panama bottom 2 parts

We sew two identical panamas.

1. Connect fields panamas along the side seams. Iron the seams. There will be two circles.

2. Connect the edges of the crown. Press the seam open.

Strengthen the panama hat fields with thermal fabric. Cut out according to the pattern WITHOUT seam allowances. We apply to the fields with the rough side down! PUT the iron on the part and hold it for 8 seconds. We alternately rearrange the iron to other parts of the part. Important: do not use an iron !!!

P. S. I have it made of two parts (technical situation πŸ™‚). But it's better with one single piece.

3. Attach the bottom of the panama hat to the crown (face to face) using a basting or needles. Stitch on a typewriter.

4. Connect the parts of the panama hat (brim and hat) together using a basting. Stitch on a typewriter.

5. Repeat with the rest of the details. You will get two identical blanks.

P. S. The fields of the inner panama need not be reinforced with thermal fabric.

6. "Face to face" we put one panama hat into another.

7. We sew a seam in a circle. Leave a hole to unscrew the product.

8. We turn out our panama hat.

9. Close the hole. Iron well. Sew along the very edge of the panamas fields.

3. Cut the fabric out according to the resulting patterns, adding one centimeter to the seams. First you need to grind the sidewall, then sew the bottom. After that, the edges of the panama must be processed, and the most important detail is sewn to the panama - the fields and the upper part. Decorative ornaments (ribbons, embroidery, beads) will be used to decorate the panama, determining its purpose: beach or everyday.

A flirty hat is a must-have addition to a plain or colorful summer dress, sundress, trouser suit. It will not only protect you from the sun's rays and overheating, but will also serve as an excellent accessory, giving your look a light touch of romance. Sew summer hat suitable for your outfits, you can do it yourself.

You will need

  • - tracing paper or paper for patterns;
  • - scissors;
  • - needle with thread;
  • - lace ribbon 3 cm wide, 120 cm long;
  • - main fabric 55 cm;
  • - lining fabric 55 cm

Instructions

1.Use a summer hat pattern with a wedge top to fit your head snugly. Transfer the pattern to the tracing paper. Draw two concentric circles with a diameter of 18 and 37 cm on it. Cut out the center circle and cut the paper around the outer circumference. These are the brims of the hat. Make a wedge pattern - draw an equilateral triangle with a base of 8.8 cm and a height of 17 cm. Round its sides slightly. Cut it out of paper - this is the wedge of the crown of your hat.

2.On patterns from the main and lining fabric, cut out 1 part of the fields and 6 parts of wedges. Take a thread with a needle and sew the wedges together, first from the lining fabric. Try it on and make sure the top of the hat fits. Adjust the top for the volume of the head. Sweep the wedges out of the base fabric together. Sew all seams on both pieces with a sewing machine. Remove the basting. Iron the seams gently, smoothing them in both directions.

3.Fold the top of the hat and the brim with the right side inward, baste them together. Do this for the pieces cut from the main fabric, then the lining. Sew circularly on both pieces with the sewing machine. Remove the basting.

4. Turn the lining fabric inside out and insert into the base fabric. Baste them to each other in a circle, along the seam connecting the top of the hat to its brim. Sew on the sewing machine the cap fields in the form of concentric circles, first along the seam, then backing off from the connecting seam by 2 cm.Make 5 such circles, not reaching the edge of 2.5 cm.

5. Fold in 0.5 cm the edges of the base and lining cap. Insert lace tape between them, baste it, and then sew the edges on the sewing machine. Remove the basting and iron the brim of your new hat. If you wish, you can attach an artificial flower to it or tie a long thin chiffon scarf around the crown.
