Preparation of materials

We decided to make a small horse so as not to spend too much money on production, and therefore we choose the simplest materials, which may even be in the country, and start.

The torso of a wooden horse

For the body, we need 2 cuts, 3-4 cm thick and 20-25 cm in diameter. thus forming a rounded box. This will be the body of the horse.

Making horse legs

To get a stable figure, we need to choose strong materials, which can serve as bars, say, 2x3 cm and 50-60 cm long. We install them on nails or screws to the body, namely, we attach them to the cuts in front and behind.

So that the legs do not stagger and have greater stability, we recommend that each of them be fastened with 2 or more screws or nails.

How to create the horse's neck, head and tail

The remaining details are very important, as it is with their help that we complete the decorative figurine for the garden.

So, the tail is the easiest to make, and for this it will be enough to cut it out of plywood and fix it on the back cut with a bar and self-tapping screws.

The neck can be a bar or board 35-40 cm long, on which we will install the head.

We cut the horse's head in shape from plywood or a thin board, set the eyes, ears and mane, and fix the head on the neck from the board.

Painting a wooden figurine

To create a pretty body, head and legs for the horse, we recommend starting with the frame on which these parts will be installed. For this, larger branches should be applied, which will have to be dug into the ground for reliability. Consider all the options in advance, maybe it is the foundations of the frame that will serve as the legs of the horse in the future.

Having installed the frame, you can start tying it with branches, approximately in the same way as tyn is weaved - an ordinary wicker fence. Slowly and consistently, create a torso, go to the neck, having previously installed the frame, as well as to the head. By the way, the head can be made separately, and then simply installed on the finished figure, it will be a little easier.

Of course, such an idea is only possible for people with patience and love to work with their hands, but you can always start with small figures, and then move on to more serious ones, such as our horse.

The simplest plywood horse

Some of us love tinkering - cutting, knocking down, gluing, and so on, but many also enjoy more creative work, such as drawing. So, if you have at least minimal artist skills, the next way to create garden decor will be the most interesting for you.

You need to purchase a small sheet of thick plywood and just draw a horse on its plane (you can also use any other animal or fabulous creature, but today we are talking about horses). After finishing the drawing, check if you did everything correctly and beautifully, correct the details.

Now a jigsaw or jigsaw comes to the rescue, with the help of which the figure is cut out.

If you count how much waste of different wood (knots, sticks, trimmings, trunks after uprooting, etc.) I just burned in my life, then, probably, you can build a house. Here's the real trouble - this material is not suitable for building a house. And such ideas with decor have been visited for a long time. It would be nice to use such, consider it free, material for the case, and not just burn it. I just think, instead of nails and screws, where possible, use polyurethane glue and large homemade dowels - I think that this is stronger and safer.

To make this craft, prepare six corks, braid, burlap, colorful feathers, cloth, knife, scissors, and hot melt glue. First, glue the two plugs vertically on top of each other. This design will fit the horse's forelegs and neck.
Next, start making the hind legs and torso. Glue the two plugs perpendicular to each other. Legs should be fastened at one end of the "torso", not in the center. Join the two pieces together.
Cut off the neck at an angle and glue the head to it. Cut out two ears from the other cork and glue them to the horse's head.

After that, other branches begin to braid around the frame, fixing them with nails, and if possible, you can use a stapler for a tree. Do this gradually, rising higher and higher, gradually moving to a horizontal surface. After that, make a skeleton for the horse's neck and start braiding it. It is better to make the head separately, and then set it on the neck. Attach an additional branch to the place of the mane and the horse is ready. To make the branches serve as long as possible, open them with varnish. It is quite difficult to make such a horse. Only patient people will be able to do this. The first time, you may not succeed, the branches will crawl out of the general shape or not intertwine with each other. In this case, start with small designs, and then move on to more complex and large ones. Wooden horse with a cart To make a horse with a cart, prepare thick and thin branches of birch, in addition you will need self-tapping screws, rubber wrapping, and bottle caps. For the body of the future horse, you will need a thick birch branch, its length should be about 50 cm. To make legs, take thinner branches. And in order for the future figure to stand steadily on its feet, they need to be dug into the ground. In this case, all work will be carried out at the place provided for the horse.

The head and torso are attached to each other with the neck. Self-tapping screws are used for these purposes. Decorate the face by making horse eyes. They can be made of wood, or you can use corks, which are fixed on the face with wood glue. Build a mane and tail from thin branches, weave into a “broom” and nail to the structure. A rubber winding is used as a reins and a saddle. It is attached to its places with nails and glue.
The turn has come to make the trolley. Here you can act in different ways. The easiest one is to connect the four wheels with wooden sticks and secure them with screws. Or you can build a more complex cart. Knock down a box of wooden sticks and attach wheels to them. In this case, the cart can be decorated by pouring earth and planting various flowers in it. Cut it out, transfer it to the fabric and cut out two pieces.

You can stop at this, because the pendant is completely ready. But if you want something bright and original, then start decorating the horse.
