How to test honey

The main question for any visitor to the fair is whether they are selling real honey. We give recommendations "how to check honey" of our domestic beekeepers from Siberia - site 24medok.ru

At home:

Dissolve a teaspoon of honey in 100 ml of lukewarm water. Stir until the liquid has a uniform consistency. Natural honey should completely dissolve, without sediment. If you shake the container, then foam (air bubbles) will appear on top, do not be alarmed. Drop 3-4 drops of iodine into the mixture. With a larger amount, the solution will become more and more stained with iodine. For the experiment, 4 drops are enough.
Blue water, even small blue streaks, will clearly indicate adding starch or flour to honey for density and weight. This is a low-quality fake, from the use of which you should refrain.
In the same solution, you can drop a little vinegar. If the water hissed - into honey sprinkled with chalk. Again, for weight and hiding signs of spoilage of the product.
An unnatural product can still be determined by simply leaving a glass of honey dissolved in warm water for an hour. The sediment that has fallen to the bottom or the flakes formed on the surface will again indicate impurities in the honey.

Muscovites are always happy to attend exhibitions in Gostiny Dvor. This is a historic building that has almost completely preserved its appearance from ancient times. At the same time, the complex has recently been renovated and has almost all the necessary infrastructure for modern exhibition events. The great advantage of this exhibition center is that it is located in the very center of Moscow (Ilyinka street, 4) - almost next to Red Square. It is easy to get here, and it is very pleasant to walk along the surrounding central streets of the capital.

In addition to exhibitions, concerts, balls and other festive events, as well as conferences and business events are held here. Not everyone knows, but this is one of the business centers with all the services required by international standards - you can rent an office here. In addition, there are banks, shops, restaurants and cafes, prestigious beauty salons, real estate agencies...

How to get there

Directions, nearest metro stations

From Kitai-gorod metro stations (exit to Ilyinka street) and Revolution Square (exit to GUM) the exhibition center can be reached on foot in 5-10 minutes

Winter time is a period when our immunity weakens, and the body more than ever needs vitamins and minerals that strengthen the immune system and prevent the occurrence of diseases. All these useful components are included in the rich composition of honey, the exhibition of which residents and guests of the capital will be able to visit this winter. Farmers from all over the country will gather in one place to give us the opportunity to taste and evaluate their products, listen to recommendations for use, and also stock up on the desired amount of this unique delicacy.

Gostiny Dvor is the place where all kinds of exhibition-type fairs are most often held. Its main feature is a long-term good reputation of a place where truly high quality products are exhibited and sold.

Honey fairs are also regularly held here. And each of them is accompanied by the strictest quality control, which is ensured by the mobile laboratory of VSE (veterinary and sanitary examination). If the required product parameters are not met, the manufacturer is not allowed to participate in the event. Therefore, visitors can be calm about the naturalness of the purchased honey. If doubts still arise, guests can contact the WSE experts and get advice from them.

Varieties of honey

Honey is classified according to two parameters:
View:

  • Flower. The name depends on the name of the honey plant. For example, linden, buckwheat, sunflower, etc.
  • honeydew (from tree sap);

Gathering place:

  • Meadow (mainly flower);
  • Forest (shrubs growing in forests);
  • Mountainous (remote mountainous areas).

The exhibition will present various types of honey, including very rare ones, such as chestnut, tobacco, lavender honey and others. Some of them have a very specific taste. However, this only increases their interest in trying them. And to make it easier for visitors to the fair to perceive the information, manufacturers attach variety names, places of collection, price, as well as photos of honey plants to the samples.

Fair schedule:

Features and program of the exhibition

The program promises to be interesting and intense, with something new waiting for visitors every day. You can see how last year's fair went on the video.

January is the opening month of the winter honey fair. Connoisseurs of "sweet gold" will flock to the center of the capital like bees for honey. A honey fair will be held at Gostiny Dvor for a whole month. The best beekeepers from the Far East, Bashkiria, North Ossetia, Altai, Chuvashia, Krasnodar Territory and other regions of Russia will bring only high-quality, only fresh and only natural beekeeping products from their generous honey regions. The honey fair in Gostiny Dvor 2017 will present more than 200 types of honey familiar from childhood and outlandish novelty honey varieties. Buyers are waiting for discounts, special offers, free tasting and expert advice on how to choose the right healthy and tasty treat.

"Gostiny Dvor" - a hospitable honey fair

The oldest exhibition and shopping complex in Moscow, Gostiny Dvor, is the most popular place to visit. The historical building, which has now become modern in terms of significance for the city, but has retained its old appearance, is able to provide all the conditions for holding large-scale exhibitions and trade events. Due to the necessary infrastructure and convenient location of Gostiny Dvor, the Moscow authorities and the Russian National Union of Beekeepers chose it to organize the annual honey fair. In January 2017, the 37th All-Russian Winter Honey Fair starts. Its participants will traditionally present high-quality honey products at more affordable prices. Unlike supermarkets here, before buying honey, you can try it for free and bargain with sellers. In addition, guests of the fair will be able to participate in culinary master classes, listen to concerts of pop and folk groups and watch competitive tournaments.

Honey: quality, taste, benefits

The honey fair is a great opportunity to learn about the benefits of honey from people who have devoted many years, or even a lifetime, to this healing product. Years of experience with honey, its production and extraction allow beekeepers to have complete information about the medicinal properties, unique features and effects on the body of certain types of honey. The quality of beekeeping products at the fair is monitored by specialists from the laboratory of veterinary and sanitary examination. The mobile laboratory-station is equipped with the necessary equipment for quality control of honey, its related products and accompanying documents. In addition, veterinarians and experts at the fair will provide professional advice on any "honey" issues.

Strict quality control at the honey fair is a mandatory measure to protect consumers from counterfeit and low-quality products. At the same time, buyers can receive qualified assistance from experts in apitherapy (honey treatment). Apitherapists will advise which bee products (honey, poison, pollen, wax, dead bees, etc.) are best used as an adjunct in the main treatment of diseases.

Types of honey

The most popular in folk medicine is honey. It is classified by type: flower (mixed or the same type) and honeydew (from tree sap). Flower varieties are given the name that the honey plant bears (buckwheat, acacia, linden, etc.). Depending on the place of collection, honey is divided into:

  • mountain(collected in ecologically clean mountainous areas);
  • forest(honey from bushes growing in remote forest areas);
  • meadow(distinguished by a wide range of floral aromas). Types of honey

Photos of honey plants and general information about the type of honey, the place of its collection and storage conditions are on the product labels.

The Honey Fair in Gostiny Dvor 2018 has been moved to the address: Moscow, Vetoshny lane, 13.
I always liked the fair in the city center more: it’s convenient and pleasant to come to the sellers (polite).

This year, in addition to stalls with honey, there is a trade in cheeses, fish, and mushrooms. I tried different cheeses, I liked them with paprika and basil.
Shaw is characteristic, after cheese, honey is much more interesting to try.
The honey guides advised me not only to drink water at the honey tasting, it is better to have an apple (!).

Curious stall with marmalade, marshmallow and other sweets. Have you tried carrot or beet marmalade? If not, you are here.

Fair of honey and farm cheese "From Crimea to Vladivostok" will run until February 12.
Opening hours: from 10:00 to 20:00, daily.
The nearest metro stations are Ploshchad Revolyutsii/Teatralnaya.

As usual, I took dark honey (taiga and buckwheat) at 700 rubles / kg. There is honey and for 1200 rubles, the taste does not seem to be any different.
There are not many tents at all, they are very compactly located, you won’t scatter between the rows like last year in Gostiny Dvor.

PS: Vetoshny Lane in Akurat opposite GUM, approximately in the middle, you won't pass by the entrance, there's a hefty poster.
