How to make a voluminous postcard

A very beautiful New Year's craft with your own hands, accessible in complexity to a preschooler, is a voluminous New Year's card "Herringbone". The herringbone is made of rectangular strips of paper folded like an accordion. But there is one caveat here. If you carefully examine the photo, you will see that the tiers of the herringbone are made of strips of paper of different widths: the widest at the bottom, the closer to the top, the narrower. In addition, the fold depth of the accordion is also different. The bottom strips of paper are folded into an accordion with a large "step". The higher towards the top, the shallower the fold depth.

Another voluminous New Year card. Again, this New Year's craft for children is attractive not only in appearance, but also in its ease of manufacture.

To make such a New Year's card with your own hands, print templates (template-1 and template-2) on two sheets of cardboard or thick paper and use the detailed instructions from the photos below. It is better if the sheets of cardboard are of different colors.

Finally, decorate the tree to your liking. A voluminous New Year card is ready!

2. Cut out the circle.

3. Fold the circle in half and make staggered cuts (see picture). The cuts should be made in a circle - start at the fold line and work your way up to a point just beyond the middle.

4. Unfold the circle and glue the thread to the top of the head.

5. Glue the circle to the colored cardboard folded in half (the base of the postcard).

* You can glue small red circles to the thread so that they hang down from the top of the tree.

Christmas cards with snowflakes

Another DIY Christmas card idea is a card decorated with a paper-cut snowflake.

If you have paper lace napkins at home, you can cut snowflakes out of them.

Postcard with New Year's embroidery.

Such a postcard will impress even the most fastidious recipients. After all, here you put your energy and soul into not only collecting ready-made parts and giving them a festive look, but also creating these very details with your own hands. For embroidery, you can choose any pattern that matches the theme of the new year. It can be Santa Claus, a cheerful snowman, a festive tree, Christmas balls, the symbol of 2017 - the Fire Rooster, and more.

To create such a New Year's craft, you will need: glue, scissors, embroidery, satin ribbons, and other decorative elements, if desired.

As in the first version, first we prepare the base of the postcard and give it the desired shape. Then we glue the embroidery and decorate the edges of the picture. You can do this in the following ways: use a satin ribbon, half beads, rhinestones and sequins. Such a postcard itself is already a finished product and does not require special additions in the form of sequins and sequins, but if it seems to you that they will only complement the overall look, then add. If the postcard is intended for a friend, sister or mother, you can use a satin ribbon bow, this decor will give the product a great prettiness.

Postcards for the New Year. Master classes with photos

We invite you to make two New Year's cards with your children. The main plot of these cards is the New Year tree.

New Year card with a Christmas tree. Master class with photo

First, we cut out a postcard from thick white paper. We took drawing paper for the base of the postcard. The size of the folded postcard is 17.5x11 cm. You can choose your own sizes. The main thing is that the size of the background for the postcard is 0.5-1 cm smaller.

1. Postcard background template

Patterns for cutting Christmas trees and Christmas tree decorations.

2. Cut out the elements of the Christmas tree and Christmas tree decorations.

3. Paste the background onto the postcard.

4. Glue the trunk of the Christmas tree

5. We glue the first tier of the tree. We coat only the element only up to half so that the needles are not glued. We bend the needles with our fingers.

6. We glue the second tier of the Christmas tree.

7. Similarly, glue the third (last) tier of the Christmas tree.

8. Glue the star and Christmas tree decorations to the top.

9. We design the postcard inside. We take colored paper. And with the help of curly hole punches or curly scissors, we process the edges. We processed the edges with a star-shaped hole punch, so that the inside of the card would be New Year's and festive.

10. We sign the postcard.

11. The postcard is ready!

Volumetric New Year's card. Master class with photo

1. Postcard background

Christmas tree and toy patterns.

We glue the background onto white cardboard - the base (you can choose your own background for the base).

2. Cut out three Christmas trees and stars.

3. Apply glue only to the central fold of the largest Christmas tree from the inside out and glue it in the center of our postcard.

5. We should have a Christmas tree, the branches of which can be flipped, as it were

6. Glue the stars on the Christmas tree.

7. If you wish, you can add your own decorations made of paper, foil, beads, stars. We've added snowflakes. And this is what we got.

Don't forget to sign the postcard. Our postcard turned out to be large enough, so we can write some congratulations.

And these are two cards together.

Hello dear readers!

New Year is on the doorstep and I won't get tired of repeating it. Since I missed it very much and I want a lot of white snow as soon as possible. And in order to bring closer and raise myself a pre-holiday mood, I try to write articles only on New Year's topics. And today is no exception, we will talk about colorful postcards. Which each of you probably wants to get. So, in order not to wait for anyone, I propose to start creating ourselves.

The most popular materials for making postcards are cardboard and paper. Do you agree with me? Who owns these items the most? Of course, our children, their imagination is a hundred times richer. This is exactly what we need. Let's combine our strengths and the result is a great job. Which will be an ideal gift for both a loved one and a work colleague.

I remember that in the previous article we already discussed the topic. Therefore, if you are planning to create souvenirs with the symbol of the year, then go ahead. And if you are fond of beads, then there is work for you. made in this style will be a wonderful decoration for your home. There are many options, the main thing is not to be lazy and start now.

This note was written especially for our kids. I mean, you shouldn't leave them aside. Be sure to include them in your work. You will see such an activity will be much more exciting for parents and their children.

New Year's cards for 2019 year of the pig (templates)

I think it's worth starting our collection with classic ideas. Although from my own experience I will say that each work is unique. Despite the phased scheme, each of you will put something new into your work. Someone will add decorations or change the decoration. Here is how fantasy works. In any case, a do-it-yourself card turns out to be a hundred times more beautiful than a purchased one.

Let's consider two options. You will decide and choose the appropriate one. Or maybe take note of both. Here the choice is only yours.

And here she is one of the first works. As you can see, the picture shows a bear. But as the coming year of the Yellow Earth Pig is approaching us, the pink pig will look perfect against this background.

Let's prepare the necessary material. We need it a little. And for sure there will be in your home.

We will need:

  • A4 cardboard
  • Acrylic paint or white gouache
  • Markers

For decoration:

  • Jute thread
  • Cinnamon pod
  • Sweet lollipop
  • Decorative sprig rowan

Manufacturing technique:

1. Take a sheet of cardboard and bend it exactly in the middle. To make the fold line more stable, walk along it with a wooden skewer or knitting needle. Now on one of the front sides we draw a drawing using a simple pencil. Movements should be light, you should not display the image too brightly. Please note that in the future we will paint over it with white.

Decide on a pattern, it can be absolutely any. You can draw a pig for the coming year.

2. Now when your sketch is ready you can start painting. We take a brush with a fine tip. Make sure that the "hairs" of the brush point to one side. It is advisable to use acrylic paint, you can use gouache, but in this case it should be thick enough. We paint the figure of the bear.

The eyes and nose will be applied using a black marker or felt-tip pen. Draw patterns in the same way. You can trace the outline around the outline, thereby making it a little brighter.

3. To give our postcard a New Year's mood, you can apply small dots in the form of snow. Thus, showing them in the form of snowflakes. Well, now you can start decorating. To do this, we need a decorative rowan twig, sweet caramel and cinnamon. Tie all the presented material with jute thread. Then wrap around the postcard, securing the ends to the wrong side.

You can do it a little differently. Prepare the decor, secure it with jute thread, and then attach it to the finished card with hot glue. And then you do not need to wrap all the work. The finished product will be in the public domain for opening.

This is the kind of work you should get ready-made. You can get creative and add a little more decoration.

Time to move on to the second option. We will make a card out of cardboard and add some more decorations. By the way, we will use the shape of a deer in the form of symbols of the new year. Which can be replaced with any other. Perhaps it will be piggy.

We will need:

  • Black cardboard
  • Deer silhouette in white color
  • Rhinestones and sequins
  • White gouache
  • Brush
  • Transparent oilcloth
  • Scissors

For decoration:

  • Cinnamon
  • Sweet lollipop

Manufacturing technique:

1. The first step is to make the basic form out of cardboard. To do this, cut out the cardboard so that if we fold it in half, we get a square. Then carefully select the core with a knitting needle or other sharp material.

Now open the resulting form. And on one of the inner sides, draw two diagonal lines. Our task is to find the very center. Found it? Insert the point of a compass into it and draw a circle.

Then change sides of the compass. Set in the center with a pencil, and with the tip go around the circle several times. This way we will achieve the desired effect and will be able to cut out the circle with a clerical knife.

2. So with one part of the work done, it's time to do the rest. Look at such a product at this stage you should succeed. Let's continue making it. Take a brush and dip the tip into the paint. Then shake it a little over the cardboard. Thus, small “drops” will appear in the form of a starry sky.

3. Now let's start decorating the circle that we cut into the cardboard in advance. Be sure to walk along the contour with white paint (gouache).

Take a transparent oilcloth, transfer the shape of the circle to it. Use a felt-tip pen to make the outline clearly visible.

Now we put our decorative elements in the formed circle. Cover with the other side of the oilcloth. Iron gently (with paper underneath).

The temperature of the iron should be kept to a minimum. Otherwise, the result will be negative.

4. Now we need to fix the same oilcloth to our postcard. We take cardboard with a cut out center. We put our decorative part on the inside. Please note that sequins and rhinestones are visible in the window that we made with you before. Run the iron again, but this time around the entire edge. Pressing well against the cardboard itself.

Paint the other side with black. You can paint, but in the future, let it dry thoroughly.

Stars can be drawn on a black background. Or some other image related to the new year.

Our work is almost ready. All that remains is to add some decoration, that's what we'll do now. Take cinnamon and sweet caramel. Fasten them together with a jute thread. Then attach it to the card itself with glue.

Now we fix the deer by cutting it out of white cardboard in advance. By the way, the shape of the figure can be absolutely any. I will lay out several templates from which you can choose the appropriate option.

The flying pig version is just super. It seems to me that such a silhouette would look perfect in the picture.

And here is a piggy bank piggy bank. Personally, its shape reminds me of this particular object. What do you think?

Well, in conclusion, the classic pig carcass. Which, as it seems to me, decided to have a little snack. So we figured out this subsection. I think it's time to move on to the next equally interesting heading.

DIY New Year cards made of paper and cardboard

Well, that we are ready to work miracles with our own hands. To make the work perfect, I propose to consider several options. Let's start with the simplest ideas. For the manufacture of which we need a minimum of material. But you still have to make a little effort.

And here is one of the options for work made of cardboard. I think everything is clear according to the scheme. First of all, we print it, then we transfer it to paper. We carefully cut out, make basting in places of the fold.

We cut out additional parts and fix them on the prepared cardboard with glue. Choose colors that are more contrasting so that they differ from the main shape. Do not forget to attach the strings, you can use a satin ribbon for this role.

Another idea is "minimalism". Quite simply, take white cardboard. Bend it exactly in the middle. Draw the shape of a Christmas tree on the inside. Immediately indicate the places of the cut with a dotted line so as not to get confused in the future. Now we take a clerical knife and cut off the parts marked with a dotted line. By the way, the drawing in this case can be anything.

Now we open our postcard and on the side where there is no drawing we glue colored paper in a contrasting color. By the way, you can choose not a monochromatic shade, dwell on the New Year's version. The picture shows one of the symbols of the new year.

For example, this picture in this work seems to me to look much more interesting. These bells and snowflakes will give the finished work a festive look and will cheer you up. Here are a couple more ideas that your kids will surely like.

Deer is another symbol of any new year. It does not matter in what form it is depicted in a single or harnessed state. In any case, one of their images already tells us about the upcoming winter holiday.

An equally interesting option for a background template. Made in green with the addition of Christmas trees and snowflakes. And these multi-colored circles are like holiday balls that have fallen from a thorny tree.

Look at the work, which seems to be similar, but thanks to a different drawing, it looks a little different.

Let's move a little away from this postcard. I think with this work everything is more than understandable. We pass on to the next product made in the same way from cardboard.

Do you want to make just such a beauty with a minimal investment of time. It is enough to try a little and you will definitely succeed.

Have you prepared the cardboard? Yes! Then let's get started, here is not a complicated template. Thanks to which everything will definitely work out. We make notches at the folds. To make these folds more accurate, go over them with a knitting needle or something else.

Be sure to pay attention to the size. If you follow the scheme exactly, then there will be no inaccuracies in manufacturing.

And here is how your finished work will look in expanded form. By the way, you can slightly change its appearance. And the words of congratulations can be completely different. Think about this moment.

For decoration, you can use beads, rhinestones and even sequins. They should be fixed with hot glue, to be more sure that they will not fly off.

A slightly similar option to the previous one. But the congratulatory part will be inserted. That is, if necessary, you can take it out and put it back in place. By the way, you can play a little with color. To make it brighter, then the color of the ribbon should be chosen suitable.

Prepare the base for the card, for this, fold the cardboard in half. Measure the length of the front. Now we cut out strips of the same length from colored paper. Then we glue them to the front of the future postcard.

We will use a Christmas tree for decoration. To do this, cut out the shape of a Christmas tree from a denser cardboard. Then we connect four threads of different colors into one and wrap our workpiece. We fix the beginning and end of the thread with hot glue.

Now we fix all the decorations on the postcard.

We have considered such wonderful ideas. I don't think it's worth dwelling on this. We gather strength and move on.

Making a postcard with children from colored paper (master class)

So let's get down to making the next job. I promise your kids will love this job. We will perform it from colored paper and cardboard. Of course, we also need glue and scissors. The color of the postcard should be decided in advance.

So for the beginning we will choose the appropriate color of the cardboard. Then we add it in two. Thus, we get two equal parts. With a ruler, you can measure again.

Now let's start making parts. Having added which in the future we get a pig. We will cut out the parts according to the template.

Be sure to include dotted lines on the workpieces. In order not to confuse the fold line in the future.

We apply the cut templates to colored paper, in our case, yellow. We outline the contour after we cut it out. Now attach the yellow blank to the template. And using a ruler, bend it along the dotted line. You can see more in stages in the photo below.

We do the same with all the details. If for someone, then it is not entirely clear I will repeat myself. We take in hand the cut out blank from colored paper. Then connect it to the template (where the dotted lines are indicated). And bend along these lines two parts stacked on top of each other.

Please note that the ears are on both sides. And this means that the direction of both is different. Therefore, do not confuse templates when transferring to colored paper.

Probably all the parts you have already prepared, I propose to move on to the next stage. We start to create a postcard with you. We take in our hands the cardboard, which we initially folded into two equal parts. We open it and get to work, we will fix the prepared parts right in the center. We will start with the legs of the pig. Attach so that the convex part is on the outside.

Now we proceed to fixing the rest of the details. The method, in principle, is still the same, which does not differ from the previous one.

For greater stability, it is recommended to attach all parts to the glue moment.

Now it remains to add a patch. Cut out a circle from yellow colored paper. Draw a contour with a more contrasting color. And draw small holes with a black felt-tip pen, which is typical for any nose.

We attach it tightly to the main part of the postcard. Make sure that the fold line of the workpiece coincides with the center of the product.

You can put something under the patch so as not to stain the base made in the form of a pig's head.

Now we fix the eyes with the same glue. We decorate the card with flowers and balls, cutting them all out of the same colored paper in advance.

Our work is ready, now we are thinking who will become the owner of such beauty. By the way, the front side can be decorated with the same colors. And maybe someone wants to write congratulatory words.

Ideas for a New Year's card for children 3-4 years old

Well, that got to our kids. As I promised, we will not stop them aside. I propose to consider the most popular ideas for making postcards for children aged 3 and 4 years. To be more precise, preschoolers.

Whose kids love to create with their hands? I think each of you will answer this question positively. And when the holiday concerns the new year, Santa Claus and even a gift. They are ready to make something funny and interesting with double strength. And you and I, as parents, must definitely help them in this.

You probably know that many children at this age are very restless. That is why I think to start with the fastest jobs. Which are done once or twice, and by the way with a minimum waste of material.

And here is one of the first options. We make the main part by bending a4 cardboard in half. And then we start decorating the front part. By the way, such a product can be used in the form of a letter to Santa Claus. By writing anything on the inside.

Here's another piece of work done quite easily. In this case, strips of various widths and lengths are cut out, and then attached to the base. This will require the help of parents. Since not all babies at this age are able to work with scissors.

I will tell you a secret that all children like this postcard. To be more precise, they treat the image of the Snow Maiden and Santa Claus with great trepidation. And in general, any product made with their own hands is a whole job for them. It's great when such beauty can be created from improvised means. As you can see, these are cotton pads, plasticine and ordinary threads from which the braid is made.

Did you know that you can make a 3D postcard with kids? By the way, this work will take you a minimum of time. As a result, we will get the maximum of positive emotions.

In this work, you can use napkins of completely different colors. And for decoration, use sequins or rhinestones, thereby imitating Christmas balls.

And in conclusion, I would like to present to your attention one more postcard in 3d style. By the way, a detailed step-by-step description is attached to it. Therefore, questions should not arise at this stage.

Working with scissors again, please do not leave your children unattended. Working with these metal objects is very dangerous, especially for such small ones.

Well, now for the fans of something more serious. We will make the product in a more complex style. What, you will find out by going down a little below.

Video on how to make a scrapbooking card

Let's talk about another interesting kind of needlework. We will make a postcard in the scrapbooking style. You should have noticed that this technique is gaining immense popularity in our world. This hobby is developing with great force. Most people prefer to make gift items with their own hands. And this idea is just wonderful. Let's step back from words and get down to business. I offer you a wonderful video tutorial for watching. Where each step will be detailed.

It is customary to give gifts for the New Year. Hand-made gifts have a special value - they give a holiday not only to the one who receives them, but also to the one who creates them. The easiest gift a child can give is a DIY New Year card.

1. DIY Christmas cards ("Herringbone")

The New Year tree is an indispensable attribute of the holiday. Therefore, postcards with her image will be especially appropriate. In addition, such cards can be very simple to make.

The Christmas tree applique can be made from plain or multi-colored strips of paper. Making this New Year's craft with your own hands is within the power of even a small child.

A more complicated option is a New Year's card "Christmas tree" made of paper tubes.

It is very easy to make a Christmas tree applique using purchased stickers. Even a two-year-old can do this craft for the New Year with his own hands.

Simple and effective - homemade Christmas cards "Herringbone" from ordinary buttons.

You can also embroider the herringbone with threads. Only in this case, the New Year's card should be made of high-density paper or cardboard. Previously, the holes must be carefully made with an awl. For the simplest version of the Christmas tree, see the photo below.

Link to instruction

For a more complex version of a New Year's card with a Christmas tree made of threads, see here.To make this New Year's craft with your own hands, you will also need sequins.

An original New Year's card with your own hands can be made from a fern leaf or any other plant similar to it. Just take the top of the piece of paper and stick it onto the card. It will be a herringbone. You just have to decorate it with sequins or confetti made with a punch from colored paper. Instead of confetti, you can glue colored pieces of plasticine onto the Christmas tree. This part of the work of making a homemade New Year's card will be within the power of even a kid.

Step-by-step instructions for creating a postcard for the New Year

You need to create any New Year's card following a certain algorithm. The success of a creative endeavor largely depends on this.

Before you start, it is important to think over the idea and size of the postcard, decide on the necessary material, select everything that is needed in the work from the whole variety of decorative elements and materials.

Now we follow the plan described below:

  1. Think over the plot of the postcard, what it will be depicted on and the size of the base. Most often this is the A5 format, that is, an A4 sheet folded in half, but you can choose any other format at your discretion.
  2. Next, you need to think over the color palette of the card. Color and combination of shades plays a huge role in the overall perception of the finished work. Below are the options for combining shades and a special New Year's palette in the photo. If you do not have a special flair and knowledge of color combinations, it is better to use a palette.
  3. Next, we think over the composition and arrangement of the details. Special ready-made templates or sketches can help with this, but this will be discussed later in the article. For a successful composition, it is important to choose the center and the main, larger element. Next, think about where the small details will be located, you do not need to fill the entire area of the postcard with them, let them create a beautiful shape. It is important to combine the entire composition on the card with a common color idea and compositional idea.
  4. When everything is thought out and the idea is clear, you need to prepare all the elements. Cut out, paint the details. Pick up beads, cabochons, ribbons, lace, snowflakes, flowers and so on.
  5. Now we need to make the background.
  6. Then we glue the main element.
  7. Next, we place all the small details in their places.
  8. We decorate if necessary.

  5. We glue the beads, beads and the star into place.

These are variants of New Year's cards with the main character - a Christmas tree. Next, consider how to make your own postcard with the symbol of the year - a dog.

Dog - symbol of the year on the postcard

You can make a postcard depicting a dog - a symbol of the coming year. There can be many variations here as well. Make a postcard in the shape of a dog's face out of colored paper. Below are step-by-step photos of the manufacturing process.

In addition, you can make a postcard in the form of a dachshund. For her you need:

  1. Colored thick paper in 4 shades: blue and white for the base, gold and brown for the dog. You also need some black paper for the eyelet and nose.
  2. Glue, scissors and a ruler.

We make a postcard like this:

  • cut out a rectangle from blue paper. This is the foundation. Fold it in half, then fold one front part in half.
  • cut out rectangles from white paper in such sizes that they overlap on each of the parts of the bent base, glue them from over the base.
  • cut out the dachshund. Long oval body to fit over the entire unfolded postcard. We cut out the legs, head, ears, tail, eyes. We duplicate each small detail from brown and gold paper.
  • we glue the body on the whole postcard, to it the paws and muzzle, after all the small details.
  • so we got a dachshund, whose head is on the front bent half, and the end of the body on the half of the postcard that is not bent. A closed postcard is obtained with a short dog, and an open postcard with a long dog.

To the postcard, you can stick a congratulatory inscription inside on a separate square or flag.

A pair of white buttons is enough to create a snowman, which we add with a red braid - a scarf and a black braid - a hat. Or a few bright buttons that represent Christmas balls. We will draw a string with them and make a beautiful inscription at the bottom.

Postcards in different techniques

Very interesting and beautiful postcards for the New Year 2018 are obtained, made by hand using the quilling or vytynanka technique. In order to create such a miracle with your own hands, you need to make a lot of effort, be careful and attentive. These are rather complex techniques that require utmost care and concentration to achieve a good result.

Quilling postcards can be with the image of a Christmas tree, a dog, winter patterns. To complete them, you need strips of colored paper, which are rolled into rolls and given the desired shape. After that, intricate drawings are laid out from these rolls.

The vytnanka technique involves cutting out plots from several layers of paper and superimposing them on top of each other. These cards fascinate with their grace and beauty.

Also, to create a New Year's card with your own hands, you can use threads and the technique of thread printing or embroidery. To do this, on a separate square of paper, they embroider with a cross or satin stitch or lay out the conceived pattern using the nitkography technique. After that, this square is glued to the base for the postcard.

A drawing for a postcard can also be made of felt, for example, carved deer, a snowman, mistletoe flowers or a herringbone, which are then attached to the base for the postcard.

If you are making a postcard with your child, then a wonderful New Year's option would be to execute a drawing on a 2018 New Year's postcard with a baby's palm print. To do this, you need to paint the child's palm in white paint. The kid will be delighted with such an activity! Immediately on the prepared colored base for a card made of cardboard, you need to print a palm.

If you print it with your fingers down, then after you can finish drawing Santa Claus, your fingers will be a beard. And if you print the palm with your fingers up, then the palm itself will be a snowdrift, and we finish drawing the fingers and turn them into snowmen and Christmas trees.
