What and how to make a Christmas wreath with your own hands. Master class “Christmas wreath” (from colored paper) Make a New Year’s wreath with your own hands diagrams

Good afternoon. Today I have put together - in one article - several ways to make Christmas wreaths with your own hands. I will show you how you can make the base of a Christmas wreath - not necessarily from willow twigs or spruce legs (not all city residents have this material) - so here you will see alternative bases for New Year's wreaths - from newspaper, fabric, toilet paper rolls and other suitable material.

So let's get started.

INTRODUCTION…

How to make a BASE RING

for a Christmas wreath.

Let's approach our question in order. First, let's figure out what the BASICS are for New Year's Eve. What are the ways to MAKE such a base ring with your own hands? And then we’ll start decorating the finished bases.

Here are the basics for Christmas wreaths we will look at.

  1. Paper flat base for a wreath (+ ways to decorate wreaths on this basis)
  2. Volumetric base for a wreath from newspaper or toilet paper
  3. Wicker ring for wreath(made of straw or willow twigs)
  4. New Year's wreaths with foam ring base.
  5. And then I will show you how to make decorations for wreaths with your own hands.

OPTION #1

from FLAT CARDBOARD

WHERE TO GET. Take a large piece of cardboard (a large pizza box would be ideal). Or you can take large gray packaging boxes (lying freely available near the back entrance of any grocery store). You can ask at the store (they will gladly give you for a chocolate bar). You can ask the caretaker at your work - he has a basement full of so much stuff.

WHAT TO DO. Place a large dish on a sheet of cardboard. We trace with a pencil. Place a small saucer on the center of the drawn circle. We check with a ruler that the edge of the saucer is at the same distance from the large circle to the west, north, east, south. We also outline with a pencil.

We cut out our flat donut from cardboard with scissors. We take white toilet paper and wrap it around our future Christmas wreath. Or a lace ribbon (this will cost more money). And then we decorate the Christmas wreath... this will be discussed below in our article.

DECOR OPTIONS

Advent wreath with a flat base.

DECOR of a New Year's wreath - WITH THREAD AND FELT.

We wrap the cardboard base with threads. We twist roses from felt and sew them onto a thread winding. We cut out the shape of a Christmas tree from salt dough, sculpt houses (press windows into them). In some places we sew Christmas balls in the same color as the overall palette.

The DECOR of the New Year's wreath is from an old SWEATER.

If you have a sweater lying among your old things for a long time. Then you can cut off two sleeves from it and decorate the flat base of the wreath with them. For this purpose, each cut sleeve rip along the longitudinal seam– open – wrap the base ring around the circle and again sew the same seam.

We do the same with the second sleeve - and we direct the end of the second sleeve to the top of the first sleeve - so that this the cut off top was hidden inside the neat elastic band of the counter sleeve. Next, such a flat knitted base can be decorated with snowflakes, ribbons, and even skates (or any Christmas tree decorations).

DECOR of a New Year's wreath - with Ribbons

For example, you can paste over this cardboard circle with corners made from pieces of fabric (or paper). Cut the fabric into triangles - fold each triangle in half twice. And glue it onto a cardboard circle. First, we place triangles on the outer edge of the circle, then on top, closer to the middle, then another row closer to the middle, and the last row along the inner circle of the cardboard blank for the Christmas wreath.

DECOR of the New Year's wreath is made of PAPER.

You can also cover such a flat donut for a Christmas wreath with pieces cut out of paper. Paper bags, paper stars.

You don't have to cut a hole in the cardboard ring. And make a wreath from gift paper and Christmas balls. We see in the photo below that the gift paper is cut into rectangles. Each is rolled into a tube and glued to a paper circle - radially, with a small distance between the tubes.

We fill this distance with smaller tubes. And fill the middle with balls. We string the balls on a wire - we get a bunch of large and small Christmas balls. We make 2 holes in the center of the cardboard. We insert the ends of the wire into the holes, and twist them on the wrong side, forming a loop by which this vein can be hung.

You can cut pieces of music paper, roll them into tubes and cover them with a foam ring. You will get such an elegant wreath.

DECOR of the New Year's wreath - made of pine cones.

The same flat cardboard donut for a Christmas wreath can be painted. And immediately start covering it with the prepared material - spruce paws, fir branches, paper tinsel, Christmas tree garland or forest cones (as in the photo below). We attach the cones to polyurethane foam or hot glue from a glue gun.

The decor for a flat wreath is made of chopped branches.

WHERE TO GET. This option is suitable for summer residents or village residents. We need branches (remaining after pruning an apple tree, for example). A city dweller can also stock up on three or four thick branches (trees are also pruned in the city).

WHAT TO DO. We chop the branches with an ax or saw them with a jigsaw. Cut out a ring from cardboard (from an old box). And now we will place pieces of our stumps in a chaotic order on this ring. We coat each piece with glue before laying.

WHAT GLUE IS SUITABLE?- shoe glue in tubes, or hot glue from a glue gun ($3 at a hardware store) Or a can of polyurethane foam also glues well.

We overlap and glue the pieces into several layers. Let's dry it. And cover it with white paint WHAT PAINT IS SUITABLE- you can buy acrylic paint at a hardware store ($1.5 per liter). You can buy paint in a spray can (this is much more expensive). You can dilute white gouache with PVA glue and paint with a wide brush or a foam sponge for washing dishes (very convenient). And then such a white wreath can be decorated with bright accessories.

DECOR of the New Year's wreath - natural material.

You can place nuts, cones, pieces of moss, twigs, sticks - any natural material - on a cardboard circle.

DECOR of a New Year's wreath - with Christmas BALLS.

In the same way, Christmas balls of various diameters can be placed on a flat cardboard circle. We attach it with glue from a glue gun. You can add strings of bugles and Christmas tree beads to the balls.

Christmas wreath ring

OPTION #2

FROM WIRE.

And since we’ve come to wreaths made of Christmas balls, this type of material (Christmas tree decorations) can be attached to another base for wreaths - to a wire ring.

In the photo below we see how we twist a ring from ordinary wire. And then we hang bundles of Christmas balls on it. By the same principle as onion bulbs are hung in a braid, when they are linked together into a garland and hung from the ceiling in the kitchen.

A variety of decorative materials can be attached to such a wire ring.

For example (photo below), we can take ordinary foam balls, pin them on pieces of wire, wind each wire tail to a common wreath ring and cover everything together with silver spray paint.

You can do it even simpler - make a fluffy New Year's wreath - tie many, many strips cut from paper napkins (or white airy fabric) around a wire frame. Like the Christmas wreath from the photo below.

Ring for New Year's wreath

OPTION #3

FROM THE NEWSPAPER

You can make flagella-twigs from sheets of newspaper. And roll a wreath from such newspaper branches - just like from twigs. We also make flower decorations from newspaper.

We roll the sheets of newspaper into a tube. We take a new sheet and place our tube on the edge of this new sheet and wrap it in this sheet. It turns out that the tube is almost 2 times longer. We place it on the edge of a new sheet and also wrap it in a roll (we get a tube 3 times longer). We continue until we have a tube long enough to bend into a large ring for an Advent wreath. We wrap the tube with rope and roll it into rings - we add new layers of newspaper to the thickness and wrap it with rope again. At the end, you can wrap everything with white toilet paper or tape or a bandage.

You can also do wreath decor MADE OF FABRIC. For example, cut fabric into squares. Fold each one in half and sew the side and bottom seams - we get a mini-bag. We put cotton wool (or padding polyester) in it and sew up the top seam. We tie the middle of the bag with a ribbon - and we have a plump bow. We tie these bows to the wreath ring.

Plump sweets are made from the same squares of fabric - here you don’t even need to make seams. Place the padding polyester, wrap it and wrap the ends of the “candy” with thread.

This newspaper base for a wreath is quite heavy (paper weighs a lot). Therefore, you can make a lightweight (hollow inside) model of the Christmas ring-base. Like the next idea...

Ring for New Year's wreath

OPTION #4

FROM ROLLS.

If we want to get a NOT HEAVY light base for a wreath, then to do this we string toilet paper rolls onto a rope (or wire). We place them on the table, level them so that they lie in the shape of a regular circle - we fix the rolls with pieces of tape, that is, we glue them to each other so that they do not move or spin on the rope and do not change their circular shape.

Then we make a newspaper wrap, or a medical bandage, or toilet paper, or tape, or masking tape.

Decor options for a Christmas wreath made from a LIGHT BASE. Such a wreath, which is hollow inside, can be attached to light jewelry, made of felt or crocheted, small branches are thin and light, so that their weight does not distort the wreath or cause the empty rolls inside to crumple.

You can tie pieces of tulle on it. We buy tulle in different colors at a fabric store. We cut it into equal rectangles, long enough to wrap the ring around the wall, tie it in a knot, and leave the ends sticking out.

Paper decorations are also suitable. Fans made of colored gift paper (or elegant table napkins). We make a fan from a strip of paper and unfold it into a ring.

Christmas wreath ring

OPTION #5

FROM FOAM.

WHERE TO GET. Foam rings for crafts are sold at craft stores. Enter “foam ring + the name of your city” in the search bar of your laptop and you will find a store that sells similar things. Or you can order with delivery from China (for example on the AliExpress website).

This ring is already ready for use. And you can come up with any winding for it. For example, coniferous or fir legs (as in the photo of the Christmas wreath below). We simply take branches of a live Christmas tree, or branches of an artificial Christmas tree, and tie them to the wreath. So if you want to throw away your old artificial Christmas tree, take your time - cut off the good, bald branches from it - they will be suitable for wrapping a wreath.

Can you do it on a Christmas wreath? simple FLOWERS FROM FABRIC.

It is very easy. The photo below shows how to quickly make this New Year's wreath with your own hands.

We buy a wide ribbon, cut it into pieces diagonally (see photo) - we get Rhombuses. We compress each rhombus in the middle(from obtuse angle sides) – rewind the compressed middle with a thread. It turns out 2 petals from one rhombus at once.

We repeat the same thing with two more diamonds- and we get three pairs of petals. We put them next to each other, so that the wrapped centers of three rhombuses meet together (in the center of the flower) - we fix them with a thread winding so that all three middles stuck close to each other. We thread a needle into the end of the thread and sew several beads to the center of the flower to hide the rough part of the flower winding.

Using pins, we attach the flowers to the body of the foam wreath ring.

You can also use a foam ring cover with NATURAL MATERIAL . These may be inshell peanuts. They are inexpensive, we glue them with a glue gun to a foam ring (a glue gun is sold in any construction department of the store, it costs 3-4 dollars). And after the peanuts stick, we cover everything with gold spray paint.

You can also make a foam Christmas wreath from PINE SCALES. To do this, we collect more fir cones, take pliers and tear out the scales from them. And then we smear a section of the foam wreath with a glue gun and lay the scales on it (like tiles) ... then we smear a new section and lay the next portion of scales. Painstakingly, slowly - but simply.

If you have some leftover plum jam after making bag of bones. Then he, too, can take part in creating a Christmas wreath.

You can go to the woodshed and gather some PIECES OF BARK. Break them into pieces of the same size and also paste them over the ring for the New Year's wreath (as was done in the photo below).

You can also use this foam ring for a wreath tie with SPOKES or CROCHET. And knit a lot of Christmas applique decorations for the wreath (as in the photo below).

Christmas wreath ring

OPTION #6

FROM STRAW.

Let's take it a bunch of straw - wrap it with thick thread (or thin wire). At the end of the beam we apply new bun– and we also do the winding with threads. Again, we take another bunch, apply it to the tail of the previous one (we bury it in the middle of the tail) and wind it with threads - as we work, we gradually set our straw tail in a circular direction.

We do repetitions until our curling straw tail closes into a ring. We cover the closure area with straw and also rewind it tightly with thread. Again we move the spool of thread around the entire donut, and as we move, we place plump straws in the thin places of the wreath.

And then along the way you can add a green branch of a bush or spruce paws, I also fix them with the same twine.

Ring for New Year's wreath

OPTION #7

FROM BRANCHES.

And now the most labor-intensive basis for the New Year's wreath. From twigs. There are also several auxiliary techniques for creating such a basis from branches. And I have collected all the ways and techniques by which a Christmas wreath is created from twigs and branches. Let's look at them in order.

Method of weaving a wreath No. 1– FROM FRESH BRANCHES.

The most important thing in a twig wreath is to ensure that it is a perfect circle. That is, it flattened into an oval. And it is also necessary that its thickness be uniform throughout the entire circumference of the ring - so that there is symmetry and harmony.

Therefore, to create a wreath of the correct shape, you need a CIRCLE SAMPLE. You need to find some kind of guide round piece that will serve as a template for the round wreath.

In the photo below we see how a cut round laundry basket served as a convenient form for quickly creating a wreath. The bottom of the basket itself holds the twigs in the shape of a regular circle, and all you need to do is calmly and confidently place new twigs in the right places.

When the entire arrangement of branches along the wreath is evenly distributed, we tie it with threads in several places, or wrap the entire wreath with thread in a spiral. And our craft can be taken out of the basket.

The same can be done with the top cut part of the basket. Also used as a form-building limiter for wreath rods.

In this case, it also helps that all the branches have just been cut from the bush - so they are fresh and flexible. That is, they easily repeat the shape of a circle without breaking.

But what should we do if we only have dry branches that have become stale in their shape? To do this, the following method of laying branches will help us.

Method of weaving a wreath No. 2 - FROM DRY BRANCHES.

If we want to arrange dry, inflexible branches in a circle, then this is also possible. To do this, we again need a CIRCLE TEMPLATE - for the laying stencil. It can be cut out of cardboard, or drawn with chalk on the floor (circle a round basin with chalk, and put a round dish in the middle of the drawn circle, and also circle it with chalk). The circle template is ready.

Now we place all the dry twisted twigs in a chaotic mosaic within the boundaries of this sample circle. We arrange until we begin to like the outline of our future New Year's wreath.

And then we tie up the key points with threads, carefully inserting the thread between the branches, trying not to move them too much from their intended places. You can lay out pieces of thread on the circle template in advance, and then (after laying the branches) just lift the ends of the threads and tie them into knots. After this, you need to carefully lift the wreath and once again wrap the threads in a spiral - along the entire wreath.

Method of weaving a wreath No. 3 – FROM SHORT BRANCHES.

And if you only have short stick branches and twigs at your disposal, then you can make a wreath out of them too. This will work if you fix short sticks on a wire frame. Two pieces of wire (shorter and longer) and 4 sticks will help you make a frame.

We roll two pieces of wire into a ring - we get a larger and smaller ring.

We place the smaller one in the center of the larger one and tie the sticks on four sides (perpendicular to the center).

And now we tie sticks around the entire circumference of the rings, new sticks to these sticks, and so on until we get a nice branched wreath-base. All that remains is to decorate it and make it elegant for the New Year.

Method of weaving a wreath No. 4 – FROM WILLOW WANDS

Willow twigs are needed before work keep in water otherwise they will dry out and will not bend. They cut the rods, came home, and put them in a bucket of water with the cuts down, and twisted the ends into a bucket, bent them, and soaked them. Wet rods fold perfectly (like rubber bands). And then they dry in the wreath - and the wreath becomes stale.

After drying, it can be PAINTED - with white gouache using a foam sponge. And paint over the unpainted cracks of the wreath with a brush (it gets into inaccessible places on the wreath). To prevent the gouache from staining your hands with white, spray the top of the wreath with hairspray - this fixes the paint and adds shine.

If you take BIRCH BRANCHES, then you need to soak them in very bitter water. Using the same principle as a birch broom is steamed in a bathhouse. The twigs will become hot and flexible - and you will quickly twist them into a wreath base. Then dry and paint.

DECOR OPTIONS

for New Year's wreaths,

from branches and vines.

DECOR OPTION No. 1 – dough figures.

DECOR OPTION No. 3 – cobweb stars.

Look at the photo below. You see on the wreath there are two stars cut from a web of thread. like this It's easy to make a web yourself.

Take a plastic file. Pour a puddle of PVA glue onto it (you can also use silicate transparent glue). Take a spool of thread of the color you want the future spider web to look like. And we begin to unwind the spool and place the threads in the puddle of glue - in a chaotic manner. We try to arrange the threads so that there are no large holes in our homemade web. We leave it all to dry for a day (or overnight).

The next day, we easily separate our dried cobwebs from the file. On top of it we place a star stencil cut out of paper - and with scissors we cut the web, repeating the contours of the star. We get a beautiful decoration for the New Year's wreath.

Using the same principle, you can cut cobweb flowers for New Year's wreaths of delicate design.

DECOR OPTION No. 4 – knitted snowflakes.

Everything is clear here. For those who crochet. Let's take it. We knit. Starch the snowflake (so that it is hard and keeps its shape). We dry the starched snowflake in a straightened form - on thick cardboard, secured with pins at the spread.

We tie our hard starch snowflake to the wreath.

In addition to snowflakes, you can knit and starch bells. Dry them by placing them on yogurt jars.

DECOR OPTION No. 5 – felt crafts.

We buy felt. That is, wool that has not yet been made into yarn (thread). Pour warm soapy water into a bowl. We take a piece of such wool, immerse it in a warm soapy solution and roll the ball with our hands for 5-7 minutes until it becomes round and hard. Let's dry it. We make several of these wool balls. And we get the decoration that we see in the photo of the Christmas wreath below.

We use the same wool-soap principle to make a rose. From pieces of wool we mold flat petals of different sizes in soapy water. We twist and sew them into a rose.

DECOR OPTION No. 6 – Balls and stars.

Here, too, everything is simple and clear. We thread wires through the ears of the balls and screw them to the selected wreath twig.

SHINY STARS. Cut out stars from cardboard. Also make the inside of the stars into openwork holes. Coat the stars with glue and dip them in glitter sprinkles . Sprinkles can be bought at a craft store. Or use half the nail polish. Or DO IT YOURSELF. To do this, we buy a shiny fluffy Christmas tree garland and trim it very finely (we get a whole bunch of small shiny cuts) - cheap and effective.

DECOR OPTION No. 7 – shiny flowers.

Here on the Christmas wreath (with the photo below) we see golden flowers. Of course they can be found on sale. Or you can avoid spending money and do it yourself. Now I’ll tell you how...

We take cotton pads. Cut out large petals from 5 cotton pads. And 5 more small petals. Now pour PVA glue into a saucer - dip each cotton petal in the glue, squeeze out the excess glue - put the petals on a plastic file to form two five-petal flowers - large and small (we bend the petals in a raised state - let them dry like that). We dry them overnight. In the morning we take our 2 dried flowers and connect them - we glue the small flower into the middle of the large one. Next, use a brush to cover them with a thin layer of PVA glue and sprinkle them with gold sprinkles. We get these luxurious flowers to decorate a Christmas wreath. We made this beauty with our own hands from cheap discs and sprinkles cut from a Christmas tree garland. Fast, simple and cheap.

DECOR OPTION No. 8 – natural material.

Below we see a photo of a Christmas wreath which is used to decorate birch bark (we wrap it around the wreath like a ribbon), the stars were cut out with scissors from the same bark.

Flowers roses made from corn husks— roll the corn cake into a roll, cut the parts of the roll with scissors, and form the petals with your hands.

Dried fruits (dried fruits are also good for compote). And sprigs of rowan or hawthorn. To prepare their bright fruits for the Christmas wreath It's better not to dry(they will wrinkle and lose their appearance) and mummify in paraffin or wax. To do this, we melt a candle cut into pieces in a saucepan (made of wax or paraffin - buy in the hardware department of the store) - and dip rowan or hawthorn fruits suspended by a thread into the hot wax. We dry it on the same thread (we put a tree branch in a vase and hang our bunches of fruits on it.

These are the ideas for DIY Christmas wreaths I picked up today. I wish you successful searches for the material and design of your future New Year's wreath.

Happy New Year to the author of this article, Olga Klishevskaya.

Touching on the “green” topic, that is, the reuse of unnecessary things, I noticed a funny pattern - the most popular product (regardless of what was used as material - plastic bottles or woolen threads) was a Christmas and New Year wreath! And, of course, it became interesting to collect all possible options for such wreaths. But first, a couple of composition tips!

When creating your wreath, be careful using a large number of details - only one thing should be the main one, everything else should be secondary. For example, when working on a paper wreath with lots of clippings and photographs, focus on the main thing - the photo. This means that everything else should be neutral in color and shape. Do not weigh down the side parts of the wreath; place everything massive either on top or below. Before you start folding the wreath, put all the components side by side and see: does nothing “fall out” from the total mass in its color or shape? Believe me, it’s easier to throw away some detail now than later - a finished wreath!

1.Clothes pegs

Use an aluminum hanger for the frame and beads for decoration (choose the beads so that they easily “sit” on the wire). Unwind the hanger and begin collecting, stringing clothespins and beads one by one. Pre-paint the clothespins with gouache or acrylic. You can also decorate them with decoupage, glue buttons, beads, and fir branches to them. Attach a large bow or a soft toy (Snowman, Santa Claus, funny deer...) to the finished wreath.

2.Egg tray

Take a closer look at the empty tray and you will notice how its cells are similar in shape to half-opened buds. In the photo there is an Easter wreath and therefore it is decorated with eggshells, but our task is to make the same flowers. Carefully cut out the cells and give them the shape of a bud. The pulp included in the tray is easy to paint with any paint, so feel free to experiment with color, because fabulous Christmas flowers can even be green or purple! Attach the finished buds to the frame (branches, wire, foam) and decorate it with additional beaded branches, corrugated paper, Christmas tree balls, etc.

3.Socks

It's funny, but material such as socks can become a chic base for a Christmas wreath! They can be randomly strung on a cardboard base, or they can be rolled into the shape of “roses” and used to decorate a wreath.

4.Buttons

Cardboard, glue and a handful of buttons. And all this turns out to be a very elegant and stylish decorative element!

5.Wine corks

This version of the wreath is made according to the same principle as a wreath made from clothespins. For greater strength, use two circles of wire - a larger one and a smaller one. String the corks onto both circles in parallel, interspersing them with beads. Decorate the finished work with ribbon, bells, branches or toys.

6.Newspapers

Have you accumulated a lot of waste paper? Make a complete “newspaper” decor in your home - toys, angels, garlands, gift wrapping, candle decor... You can use newspapers or magazines everywhere. And let the real “highlight” be a wreath made of paper tubes.

7.Paper or napkins

This material makes very airy and “light” wreaths. Don't be afraid to try and experiment - use magazine clippings, colorful stamps, postcards, your family photos, unusual envelopes, paper snowflakes, etc. Don’t glue everything onto the base at once, apply it, arrange it, remove something, change something, and only then proceed to the final “assembly”.

8.Cardboard

A very interesting idea - a wreath with slots for gifts! It is not necessary to select small gifts for this, because here you can put something in addition to the main gift - an envelope with a postcard, candy, a lottery ticket, a theater ticket, a note with wishes... The role of “cells” can be played by cardboard frames from toilet paper, lids from toothpaste, etc.

9. Spruce branches and twigs

The first wreaths were made from branches. And only from branches. Such wreaths have a big plus - the breathtaking smell of pine needles, but also a small minus - it is short-lived. For lovers of traditional options - a small master class...

10. Pasta

Do you want to surprise everyone, including yourself? Make a New Year's and Christmas wreath from pasta! The technique for making it is quite simple: glue the pasta to the cardboard frame with superglue and cover the finished work with spray paint. A wreath of figured macaroni looks very original in itself, but you can complement it with fir branches, netting, bells, etc.

11. Fruits and berries

What exactly to use as a material is up to you. But understanding how to tie it all together is our common task. Dried citrus slices can easily be glued to cardboard or polystyrene foam, apples can be strung on a wire frame (you just need to use a strong enough wire so that it does not bend under the pressure of the apples), rowan branches and physalis can be stuck into plasticine or “foam”. Otherwise, you need to use plastic fruits, since real ones are too heavy.

12. Christmas balls

The technique is simple: string the balls onto a wire bent in a circle and attach them to each other with glue (so that the wreath takes on a beautiful shape). Such works look especially beautiful if they are made in the same color or in the same color scheme.

13. Sweets

There is one disadvantage of “sweet” wreaths - they tend to “melt”, especially if there are kids with a sweet tooth in the house. Candies can be attached to a pre-prepared frame with threads, glue, or wire. You can also use toothpicks, as in the case of marmalade. Only for this you need to get a soft frame - polystyrene foam or “foam”.

14. Balloons

Tie lots and lots of balloons around a wire frame and that's it! You don't even need to inflate them.

15. Ties

Another extraordinary idea. But now the question - where to put old and disliked ties - has been resolved.

Hello, dear readers! The pre-New Year days plunge a person into a bustle, because there is so much to do: think through the holiday menu, take care of gifts for loved ones, buy a Christmas tree, decorate the house, cook delicious dishes and, finally, effectively set the holiday table. So that the pre-holiday bustle does not exhaust you, you need to complete all stages of preparation in a timely manner, for example, decorative decorative elements can be purchased in advance, and some of them can even be made yourself... Today’s review will present examples of festive New Year’s wreaths that can be made without much difficulty with my own hand! It should be noted that the tradition of decorating the interior with festive wreaths was borrowed by the residents of Russia from Western countries, where the celebration of Christmas and New Year is definitely not complete without this accessory!

DIY New Year's wreath.

Festive wreaths made of Christmas balls.

To recreate such a wreath, you should stock up on: thick wire, different-sized Christmas tree balls and a glue gun.

We form a ring from the wire without connecting the ends, take balls with holes for the thread and thread them one by one onto the wire, then use a glue gun to fix the balls in the desired location (the caps of the balls can also be treated with glue so that they do not slide off the product), in When finished, twist the ends of the wire and decorate the wreath with a ribbon, tinsel or bow.

How to make a New Year's wreath from plastic bags.

For work you will need: glue, cardboard, scissors, transparent plastic bags, bright ribbon or bow.

We cut out a base ring from cardboard, take the bags and cut them into strips 7-8 cm wide, after which we cut the resulting strip on both sides (leaving space in the center) into narrow strips (see diagram). After all the strips are prepared, take a cardboard ring base and gather the cut strips, glue them to the cardboard base, simultaneously forming the pomp of the product.

The diagram shows what a cardboard ring should be like. The diagram shows cutting paper into strips (the sheet remains intact in the middle).

New Year's wreath made of paper.

We cut out blank leaves from thick colored paper, and a base ring from cardboard, after which, using glue, we fix the cut out leaves on the cardboard surface (we glue the leaves overlapping).

DIY New Year's wreath made of paper roses.

We take a narrow strip (5 cm wide) of paper that matches the color, bend it as in the diagram below, take a toothpick and twist a strip of paper onto it in the shape of a rose. You should also prepare several “horns” from paper of a different color; to do this, take a strip of paper, twist a cone, and cut off the excess. Next, we glue all the resulting blanks using a glue gun to the surface of the cardboard ring.

The diagram shows that the sheet of paper needs to be folded more than in half.

Wreath of gift bows.

We purchase the required number of multi-colored bows, which we then glue to a pre-prepared cardboard ring.

Festive wreath made of thin twigs.

We take flexible tree branches (for example, willows), weave them together, simultaneously forming a wreath, paint them from a spray can in a suitable shade, complement them with beads, ribbons, chains, and bows.

DIY Christmas wreath photo

A simple paper wreath.

We take a wide strip of colored paper, bend it in half, glue it, and cut it into non-through strips. Then we straighten the resulting volumetric product and glue it in the form of a wreath. Additionally, the product can be decorated with paper bows or hearts.

Button wreath.

We cut out a wide base-ring from cardboard, onto which we glue many buttons of different sizes.

New Year's wreaths photo

Wreath made from old ties.

We cut out the base in the form of a cardboard ring, onto which we glue the ends of the ties using a glue gun. Finally, the product can be complemented with a thin tie tied in the form of a bow.

Wreath made of paper horns.

We take multi-colored paper, you can take thick magazine pages. We cut the paper into strips, from which we form cones, which at the final stage we glue onto a cardboard ring base.

New Year's wreaths photo

Wreath made of wine corks.

It is necessary to purchase a large number of wine corks, which are glued tightly together to each other on a base cut from plywood or very thick cardboard. Finally, the product can be complemented with bright flowers, ribbons, bows, and spruce branches.

Wreath of pine cones.

We glue the cones onto a thick cardboard base and complement the product with small bright Christmas balls.

In recent years, such a craft as a wreath of pine cones for the New Year has become very popular. In the West, this tradition has been pleasing children and adults for a very long time, but in our country it appeared relatively recently and took root very quickly. This is not surprising, because a New Year's wreath of pine cones, made with love by your own hands, can decorate any home - it looks great on walls, entrance and interior doors, it can even be placed among dishes on the holiday table, and its amazing aroma creates a festive mood.

The history of Christmas wreaths

The tradition of decorating a house for Christmas and New Year with coniferous wreaths came to us from Europe. A Christian master makes a wreath of pine cones for the New Year from fir branches, complemented by 4 candles arranged crosswise. As you know, Christmas is preceded by Advent - a 24-day fast, and on each Sunday of this fast it was customary to light one candle on a wreath.

Several centuries ago, there lived in Europe a Lutheran theologian, Johann Wichern. To help the families of those in need, he took their children into his care. When the Nativity fast came, the impatient children constantly asked their mentor, when will the long-awaited Christmas come? Then he came up with the idea of making a floral wreath by inserting 24 candles into it. He used a wheel as a frame and inserted 20 small red and large white candles into the decoration. Every day he lit one red candle, and on Sunday - a white one. Then, as usual, the wreath was modernized (4 candles remained) and acquired a symbolic meaning among believers - pine branches began to symbolize the Earth, teeming with life, and 4 candles personified the universe.

Which cones to choose for a New Year's wreath?

Looking at the photo of New Year's wreaths made of cones, you can understand that there can be a variety of cones: spruce and pine, cedar and larch - all of them are so beautiful, as if created by nature for artistic use. With this environmentally friendly natural material, you just need to apply a little creativity to create unique decorations for the winter holiday. Moreover, you don’t need to buy this chic craft material, but combine business with pleasure - collecting pine cones in a park or forest with a wonderful walk.

If there are cones in the forest, then there are a lot of them, so when collecting them you need to choose the most beautiful ones or those with an unusual shape, which can also be useful. In addition to cones, you will also need to collect coniferous branches.

One thing to keep in mind is that spruce needles will shed faster than longer pine needles, which will last longer.

If you find only closed cones, don’t be upset. Place them on a warm radiator overnight, and by morning they will open like flowers on a summer morning.

What should you do with the pine cones?

The instructions on how to make a New Year's wreath from cones indicate that the collected material requires simple preparation - all the cones need to be washed in water, removing dirt particles from them, and then dried thoroughly.

Cones prepared in this way can be used in their natural form - with natural colors, or they can be painted, especially since they are easy to paint.

The cone can be tied by a thread and completely immersed in paint of the desired color, or you can paint the cone manually with a brush.

You can use spray paints.

If you paint them before making a New Year's wreath from pine cones, you will get this beauty:

Lightening buds

To lighten a bump, you need:

  • Place it in a container of household bleach for 5 hours.
  • Afterwards, rinse it in plenty of water and dry it completely (you can put them in the oven at a low temperature to speed up the process).

Covering the pine cones with glitter

Gold-plated, silver-plated or glitter-covered cones look gorgeous. To do this you will need a brush and PVA glue.

  • Apply glue with a brush to the “petals” of the cone and immediately sprinkle with glitter.
  • You can sprinkle only the tips of the cones, or you can sprinkle the entire surface.
  • Wait until the glue dries a little, and only then peel off the unadhered glitter onto the paper to reuse it.

Cone aroma

For those who feel that a New Year's wreath made of pine cones does not emit a bright enough aroma, you can treat them with cinnamon, sandalwood, or, in general, any flavoring that suits your taste.

Sometimes the pine cone is difficult to attach or glue to the base. Then at the bottom of the cone you can use pliers or another handy tool to remove several scales to create a flat base with which it will be much easier to fix it.

New Year's wreath from a hanger

This is a very simple option for making a New Year's wreath. It will require a clothes hanger made of bendable wire.

  1. Leaving the hanger hook alone, the hanger should be bent into a ring shape.
  2. You will have to untwist the wire at one end in order to string the cones onto it.
  3. The cones can be decorated by painting them in a bright color, such as gold.
  4. Glue small plastic rings to the cones and use them to string them onto the base wire, evenly distributing them along the entire perimeter of the wreath.
  5. Having filled the entire perimeter with cones, the wire must be twisted again.
  6. Decorate the top of the wreath with a beautiful accessory that covers the wire hook, for example, a fluffy red bow.
  7. Using the remaining hook, the wreath can be hung on a door or wall.

New Year's wreath of pine cones with tinsel

You can often see that pine cones are combined with Christmas tree balls and tinsel. These New Year's supplies are not in short supply, but look very elegant and bright.

Materials and tools

  • Pine cones collected from the nearby forest.
  • Christmas balls.
  • Tinsel.
  • Jewelry with sparkles.
  • Thick cardboard (like shoe boxes).
  • Stapler.
  • PVA glue.
  • Stationery knife.
  • Thermal gun.

Manufacturing

  1. Place the flattened cardboard on the table.
  2. If you don’t have a compass at home, then take 2 pot lids of different sizes and trace them with a pencil, or 2 plates of different sizes.

  1. Then, using a utility knife or scissors, cut out a cardboard ring along the outlined contours.

  1. Attach a piece of lush tinsel of your preferred color to it with a stapler.
  2. Then you need to attach balls and cones to the workpiece - they are attached with a heat gun closer to the inside of the ring. Although you can use any balls, it is more convenient to work with plastic ones.

  1. The wreath can also be decorated with figurines of Father Frost, Snow Maiden, and small plastic animal figurines.
  2. To make the wreath even more festive and bright, the surface of the balls can be treated with glue and sprinkled with glitter manually or using a spray bottle.
  3. At the end, the wreath can be entwined with a beautiful satin ribbon, after which the New Year's decoration can only be placed in its intended place.

Christmas wreath with pine cones and candies

Everyone is free to decorate their New Year's pine cone wreaths with a variety of materials, even such as dried citrus peels or cinnamon sticks. But a New Year's wreath decorated with candies will look tastiest. Kids will especially like it; they will simply be delighted; they will agree with interest to take part in its making, during which time the little one will definitely receive several candies.

Materials and tools

  • Cones.
  • Caramel or chocolate candies in bright wrappers.
  • Decorative elements (bows, ribbons, beads, etc.).
  • Plastic Christmas balls of different sizes and colors.
  • Double sided tape.
  • Scissors.
  • Thick cardboard.
  • Bandage.
  • Foam rubber.

Manufacturing

  1. First, cut out the base for decoration from a sheet of cardboard, and then glue foam rubber onto it.
  2. Carefully smooth out the unevenness formed along the edges of the ring with scissors.
  3. Then wrap the ring with a bandage, leaving no gaps.
  4. Spray glitter onto the pine cones and then glue them to the base.
  5. Secure the balls and ribbons between the cones using tape.
  6. It is most convenient to use truffle candies as a sweet decoration - it is easy to stick a piece of double-sided tape on their flat base, and the opposite side with a twist will additionally decorate the New Year's wreath.

Or another version of the master class for a New Year's wreath made of pine cones:

Christmas wreath with fir cones

Fir cones are no less beautiful than pine cones; you can also come up with many original compositions from them, in which pine or spruce branches will look harmonious with them.

Materials and tools

  • Fir cones (you can combine them with pine cones).
  • Spruce branches.
  • Decor in the form of beads, ribbons, etc.
  • Scissors.
  • Glue gun.
  • Stapler.
  • Brown spray paint.
  • Scotch.
  • Newspaper.

Manufacturing

  1. You can spend money and buy a ready-made base, but you can also save money by making it yourself, for which you twist the newspaper into a long tube, bend it into a ring, and fasten the edges with a stapler.
  2. Additionally, wrap the resulting blank with strips cut from the same newspaper, and then secure the ring shape with tape.
  3. The tape needs to be hidden by treating it with spray paint.
  4. Glue the cones tightly around the entire perimeter of the ring.
  5. Decorate the resulting wreath to your taste; you can cover it with varnish or paint, although natural shades will look chic.

New Year's wreath based on newspapers

In this version, newspaper or magazine paper is used to make the base of the wreath.

  1. Several sheets of paper need to be twisted, closed in a ring and wrapped with tape.

Try to keep the thickness of this ring the same in different places.

  1. Using a glue gun, cover the entire ring with a paper towel.

  1. Cut a 1.5-meter strip of 15 cm wide from organza. Wrap the base with this ribbon and secure its ends with a glue gun.
  2. After this, wrap the frame with green rain imitating spruce branches.

  1. Attach larger specimens of cones with a glue gun in the center of the base, and smaller ones are suitable for the edges.

You should not try to glue the cones tightly, since other decorations can be placed in the gaps between them: Christmas tree decorations, beads, cinnamon sticks, ribbons, and complete the decoration with a large beautiful bow.

Using the same principle, we will show another master class step by step New Year's wreath of pine cones:

Photos of wreaths made of pine cones for the New Year and other natural materials:

Which is celebrated on December 25th. The classic wreath has a round shape made of fir branches with four candles. A traditional Christmas wreath with candles is placed horizontally - for example, placed on a table. However, a wreath without candles can be hung on a wall or door. On the wall it decorates the house and reminds the whole family of upcoming joyful events, and on the door it tells those who come about the cordiality and hospitality of the owners and their readiness to share the holiday with the guest.
However, today the Christmas composition is not only an attribute of a religious holiday, but also an element of New Year's interior decor. It is made not only from pine branches, but from a variety of materials. The flight of fancy is not limited here!Making it is a very personal, unhurried and creative process. This is what they do for loved ones with love, investing their whole soul. And they not only decorate their home, but also use them as Christmas gifts.
And since the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas on January 7, we still have time to prepare gifts for this bright holiday with our own hands. Moreover, this is also a great way to keep your children busy for a while and entertained on a snowy, cold day.

I have already devoted several posts to the topic “How to make a Christmas wreath with your own hands.” For example,

And in the previous article I started the story about how to make a paper Christmas wreath. And since there were so many interesting ideas, I decided to continue this topic at least a little longer.

1. Wreath made of colored paper.

Prepare stencils for flowers. Let you have several types of blanks, different in size.

Let's start with the first flower.

Bend the petals a little in the middle.

Glue one flower onto another to get a three-dimensional specimen.

Glue another one on top, but smaller.

The core can be made from a button, but the choice is entirely up to you.

You can prepare several types of flowers for a wreath. Here's another example, for example. Each layer in a three-dimensional flower can be a different shade. But I recommend that you stick to the red and gold color scheme.

Here are the flowers you can make.

Let's start with the leaves. Traditionally, it is better to make them from green or gold paper.

Use a sharp (but not cutting!!!) object along the reverse side in a wave-like motion along the center of the sheet.

Then bend it out.

This is what should happen.

Prepare the base for the wreath. Regular circle, to it

Glue the flowers; the voids around the edges can be covered with leaves.

Don't forget that you need to attach a ribbon to the base circle in advance if you want to hang it.

2. Scrap paper wreath

For the wreath we will need:

  • sheets of newspaper;
  • glue;
  • scissors;
  • tassels;
  • acrylic white paint (optional just white, but this is worse);
  • New Year's paper for scrap, or any suitable color;
  • pictures (if they are not on scrap paper) to decorate the wreath;
  • all the decorations that you can think of.

1. We take sheets of newspaper and roll them into tubes, as shown in the photo. We make enough tubes so that, when we put them side by side, we get the thickness of the wreath we need.

2. Be sure to glue the tip of the newspaper to the main tube. The tubes should be tight enough, but not too rigid that they can be bent.

3. We find a round object. The length of its circumference should allow us to wrap tubes made from newspapers around it.

4. Logical conclusion: wrap the tubes around in layers.

5. You should get a blank for the wreath - its basis. Coat the base with glue and let it dry. All the tubes must stick together and only then can you pull out what we wrapped them around. Cover the base with white acrylic paint.

6. We choose decorations - stickles, die-cuts, parts cut out of scrap paper, stickers, glitter, beads - everything that imagination and possibilities allow.

7. In advance, attach all the paper parts to the places where they will be located, if necessary, adjust them so that everything is in its place. Pasting and redoing will be difficult - you can ruin the decorations.

8. It is better to glue with a hot gun, but in the absence of one, I think “moment” glue will do.

9. From double-sided paper you can (using scissors) make very beautiful curls from ribbons, like on bouquets of flowers, and decorate a wreath with them.

10. You can complete the decoration with glitter or shiny outlines, add photographs to the wreath - then the gift will become more personal.

3. Christmas wreath made of colored paper and cardboard

Making a wreath from wrapping paper.

evesnewyear.com

And in conclusion to the topic of “paper” Christmas wreaths, I would like to show a couple of ideas for wreaths made of cardboard.

Christmas wreath made of cardboard cylinders.

Beautiful Christmas wreath

From cardboard cylinders left over from toilet paper and kitchen towels.

Cut the cylinders into small rings, give them an elongated leaf-like shape, fold them into a wreath shape and glue them together!

As you can see, it's very simple. And a very nice result. In this version, the resulting wreath was not painted, leaving it a “cardboard” color, but you can paint it - either the entire wreath in silver or gold, or the leaves in different colors - for example, traditionally green, red, gold, or more modernly - silver , purple, hot pink.

After the Christmas wreath is formed and glued from the leaves, attach bows, Christmas tree balls and a couple of satin ribbons to it.

You can attach other Christmas tree decorations, cover the leaves with streamers of different colors (then it is best to paint the leaves green), stick figures of angels, Santa Claus, and New Year's deer on it - in general, give room to your imagination.

And as a result of very simple manipulations, such a wonderful Christmas wreath appears, made literally from nothing, very original and cute.

If you have a lot of cardboard toilet paper cylinders, you can use them to make decorations for gift boxes.

Please note that here unpainted cardboard is combined with matting and braid - gifts are decorated and packaged in such an old rustic style. That is, this is a thoughtful move - not to paint the cardboard.

And, of course, a small handmade card on a gift looks very cute - take note.

And one more idea:

We cut cardboard cylinders into tubes of the same length, equal to the thickness of the wreath. We paint it in the color we need (here it is painted with white spray paint, or you can leave a little toilet paper on the cylinders).
We place them with the holes facing down (put them “on the butt”) in the shape of a circle on a prepared horizontal surface (you can place a cardboard underneath) In the center, for convenience, place a small coffee saucer to support the inner circle, and arrange the cylinders until the wreath has the desired shape form..
Then glue the sides of adjacent cylinders with PVA glue and let dry.
Attach a ribbon with which the wreath will be attached to the wall.

Decorate the wreath with Christmas balls, which are also attached with PVA glue, or other New Year's decorations.

In my opinion, it’s a very original idea to use these cardboard cylinders wisely, and not throw them straight into the trash: o)
