Food on the road: how to feed the child during the trip. Healthy snacks on the road, traveling by car, train or bus: a list of food for the trip, tips

Dear mums and dads!

You are going on a trip by car with children, and are puzzled by the question: "What to take with you on the trip and what things may be needed if there are children in the car."

When traveling with children, it is very important to take into account all the nuances and not forget anything. But you shouldn't take unnecessary things with you. Agree, it will be difficult to find a bottle of water or the right rattle in the trunk full of bicycles, balls, rollers, buckets and all sorts of other things.

That is why we will try to tell you what you need to consider when going on a trip with children.

Be smart about your fees. You should not take a raincoat or a warm jacket with you if you are going to have a rest on the sea. Undoubtedly, the weather is unpredictable, but it is unlikely that it will snow in summer or everything around will freeze.

So, we bring to your attention a list of things that you need to take with you with your child on a trip by car.

List: What to take on the road with children by car

Food and water

First of all, you should be guided by the taste preferences of your children. On the way, you will find many different cafes and gas stations with eateries. Therefore, if you take with you individually wrapped mashed potatoes and cereals, you can warm them up in the microwave or a cup of hot water. They will not refuse you and will not ask you for money. After all, this is not a special order from the chef.

Water is simply a necessary component of the diet of any person, and even more so for children. Take water with you, preferably in bottles with sippy cups, juices with straws, a large bottle of water, at least just wash your face.

Thermos with hot water, if you dilute food. Water can always be refilled at any roadside cafe.

Cookies, dryers, bananas, apples, buns are what your kids prefer for a snack.

Dishes

Spoons, plates, containers - they can always be folded into a plastic container. And again, it is convenient to rinse if you have water with you.

Hygiene

Wet and simple wipes, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, a towel, a bottle of water - wash your hands or wash on the road, bags if you feel sick.

Entertainment

Toys, books, and in addition to your favorite toys, it is better to take or well forgotten or buy a couple of toys and please the children on the road. Do not take out all the toys at once, then your children's attention will be occupied longer.

clothing

A set of changeable clothes, and it is better to take underwear or diapers with a margin, also keep in mind that the weather can be changeable, so it is better to take warm clothes with you, but do not forget that it can be hot.

First aid kit

Do not forget to take all the medicines you need with you in your medicine cabinet. When composing a first aid kit, it is better to consult with specialists. But it is important to take into account that there may not be a pharmacy along the way for a long time. Therefore, it is important to take the necessary with a margin.

For relax

A small pillow and a blanket, which will not be superfluous at all for rest. But remember that children must ride in a car with their own child safety seats in accordance with the height and age of the children.

Tricks on the road

Homemade refrigerator. If you have to spend a long time on the road, for example, when traveling to the sea, then you need a homemade refrigerator. This device will help you keep food fresh for a long time, even in hot weather. Fill two plastic bottles with water and place them in the freezer. It is important not to add a few centimeters to prevent the bottle from bursting, and to freeze while lying down. Then place bottles and food in a double bag and wrap with a blanket or cooler bag. This will help you keep food cold for up to 24 hours. The main thing is to wrap it well in a blanket and it is better in several layers.

Traveling with a child by car can be a real adventure for the whole family. The main thing to prepare correctly is to read the tips for parents, decide in advance what to take with you on the road for the child, etc.

We have prepared for you a small list of things that you need to take with you on a trip with your child by car.

On the road with you for a child, you must take:

Food based on what your child eats. Most gas stations and cafes will be happy to microwave your baby food for free or for a small fee. This will allow you to feed your baby with regular meals on the road.

Drinking a lot. Water, juices in tubular bags.

Snacks - drying-cookies-bagels-fruits.

Wet wipes, toilet paper and a towel.

Extra change of clothes in case the child gets drenched or dirty and a separate set of clothes in case of sudden changes in the weather. If the child is still small and wears diapers, there is a sufficient supply of diapers for changing on the road.

If the child does not feel sick in the car, then for entertainment you can take books with pictures and stickers, board games with magnets, paper or a notebook and thick felt-tip pens.

If the child or you can be rocked in the car, then such toys will be superfluous on the road and it is better to use ours for entertainment. These games are also great for the entertainment of children who do not get seasick on the road 🙂

Several favorite toys of the kid, suitable for age and interesting to the child, will not be superfluous.

Secret pouch. In this bag, collect a few fun little things and toys that your child loves and something new. This bag is in case of emergency - if all possible entertainment has already been exhausted, and the child is determined to be capricious.

Plaid or blanket and pillow. After all, the option is not excluded that the young traveler, to the delight of his parents, will sleep all the way. So let his sleep be comfortable!

Tips for parents traveling with their child by car:

This is the end of the greatest journey of our family. Novosibirsk-Baikal-Novosibirsk. Five thousand kilometers. Successfully.

The idea was born 3 years ago. At first, I was going to take a grandiose journey to the most that neither is the region - Vladivostok. 6000 km one way.
I immediately started looking for fellow travelers. Found two: Nissan Sunny 90s and Grant. Doubtful company, of course :)
Fortunately, my wife got pregnant last winter, and we limited ourselves to Khakassia. And for a year I thought about everything, appreciated the fantastic nature of such an enterprise and decided that Baikal would be enough for now.
Honestly, I'm not one of those travelers who begin to build a detailed route in six months, scheduling every minute, determining each stopping point.
I will burn out in this case and generally do not want to go anywhere. Therefore, I prepared in the most general terms: I read about Irkutsk, Baikal, and its surroundings. History, legends, myths. What is there interesting to look at, how to roughly go and the approximate timing of the trip.
Suddenly it turned out that my colleague was also going to Baikal. We have synchronized vacations, desires and aspirations. The departure was scheduled for June 27th.
Julia and I doubted to the last. A week before the vacation, we were not yet sure that we would go - the girl is only eight months old.
One way or another, the journey took place.
The story is divided into five parts:
Preparation
With a child on a long journey
Timing
Problems on the road
Glorious sea - sacred Baikal
Today about the first two.
Preparation
Between Novosibirsk and Irkutsk - not such a long distance - the total mileage was about 5000 km - for some, only one way goes so much. But this is the longest road trip for my family so far. Therefore, we prepared thoroughly for it.
Purchased good Nokian Nordman SX tires.
So far it hasn’t let down in any way, it’s not oak, it doesn’t slide on the water.
Replaced racks and delivered spacers.
The car rose a good two centimeters. At least once it helped us out in the sands of Olkhon.
We glued the mesh onto the radiator grill.
I don’t know how well she helped, but at every stop, we shook out a small jar of carrion from her. The mesh is the most common - from flies to the windows. They glued it on tape, but it was just a bad idea - the mesh was regularly peeled off. Next time I will come up with a different mounting scheme.

They took 2 CB stations from a colleague to listen to truckers.
All the time before the track I remember the video "America is coming down the mountain without brakes."
Let me tell you, brothers, this radio is a very controversial subject - it seems to be there, but, it seems, it is not. We analyzed everything without any problems, but useful information was lost among them. The quality is quite mediocre - the SNR is very low.
For four days of travel, we learned from the useful only information about where you can swim along the way. Well, and so some disputes between truckers, advertising, someone was selling a diesel engine, somewhere they talked about accidents. Nothing extremely useful, thank goodness.
There were children in both cars, so the issue of using the walkie-talkie is even more difficult - after all, mates through the word.
If the station is temporary, then the feeder will have to be brought into the passenger compartment through the doors, and at the same time, during the rain, water can mercilessly pour inside through this cable.
But a much more useful acquisition is portable radios.
I bought a Midland GXT-900 kit. It turned out to be just an irreplaceable thing on the track. Works for a couple of kilometers (though if there is a truck between us, the quality deteriorates sharply).
It is great to help each other when overtaking, discuss some buildings or events in the direction of travel, agree on a stop, on the speed of movement, and warn of danger. And in general, it's just to play around. The first couple of hours we generally dabbled as little children - this is our first radio.
Why did you choose this one? Good equipment: two well-tailored walkie-talkies, a wired headset (on the track and with a sleeping child, she decides), a charger from 220 and from a cigarette lighter, a clip for attaching to a belt.
The radio is certified for operation in Russia - a power limit of 0.01 watts is fulfilled. The secret is that this is a Low mode, but by default the radio works in High mode - 5 W - this is how a reception range of 20 km is achieved under ideal conditions. That is, thanks to this mode, the walkie-talkie can be conducted to Russia, but it works at a much higher power.
Channels 69 are more than enough. Although we chatted all the way on the first channel - about four times someone else intervened in our conversation, but we never switched to another channel.
The batteries are removable and can be replaced with 3 AA batteries.
There is only one drawback - the docking station does not show that the batteries are charged - the red indicators are on all the time - if you overexpose on charging, the capacity will begin to degrade.
In general, everything is already said here much better than me.
From midges, there is also a special agent for the windshield and for the headlights. It came in very handy.
A set of fuses. Not useful.
Repair kit for tubeless tires. Not useful, and thank God.
Water
Take 6 liters of water for your daughter and wash your hands / dishes.
A flask of about 4-5 liters - drinking. It is lined with polystyrene and can keep the temperature for some time.
Flask 1 liter with water to the salon to drink on the way. I hardly accept plastic bottles.
We are not picky people and we collect tap water. But you should always have one vessel with tested water with you. Somewhere in the village, we took water from a pump, you know, one that is inside a one-and-a-half-story building made of black timber. So she smelled of mud and swamp - it was scary to drink it.
On the way back we took more than 10 liters of water from Lake Baikal into a flask and a bottle.
Just in case, they took with them (our car): a tent, two sleeping bags, an air mattress, a set of dishes for six people.
A set of pots and a gas burner were additionally taken into the second car.
Our rest this time was still civilized - in houses and hotels, so wild accessories (tents, etc.) were not needed. Although on the way back we rode along the Krasnoyarsk lakes and rivers and there the tent was the best salvation from the sun and rain, and the mattress was a long-distance ship.
The dishes and gas were used several times, but they might not have been used. In total, half of the trunk of optional items.
I bought a 500 W car inverter.
I thought maybe I could recharge something or watch vidos while lying on the beach. Didn't use it.
Although the thing is undoubtedly useful - already at home I sat in the car for three hours, recharging my phone and laptop.
Medicines.
The road is unpredictable, road cafes are even more unpredictable. Therefore, with you a whole first-aid kit of drugs - from the head, from the abdomen, from wounds, etc.
A set of something like: mezim / gastal, smecta, imodium, activated carbon, no-shpa, bipanthen, paracetomol / panadol / nurofen, took. And, of course, standard things, like plasters, bandages, tourniquets, iodine / green stuff.
Fun.
Four days on the road and some free time on vacation - you need to do something. On the road, I downloaded various audiobooks and podcasts (several issues of Brandyatina and Runetology).
I threw off a lot of different books on breaking locks, science fiction, Eckhart Tolle, "The Passenger" by Jean Granger.
On the tablet uploaded a video on breaking locks.
I took about six puzzles with me.
With a child on a long journey
There is a special relationship to my daughter. At least in life, at least on a journey. (What a surprise, huh?)
Our age is quite simple for a long journey - 8 months: I have not yet weaned myself from the breast, but I have already begun to use human food inwardly. While still falling asleep in the car - no need to take a steam bath than to entertain her all the way. He does not run around the streets, which means that you do not need to worry that you will be lost somewhere.
A car seat was bought for the trip. In fact, it was bought, of course, not for this trip, but for a long time we chose the comfortable one for long trips. Here, to my shame, I have to admit that the child did not sit in the chair all the way - about half. When she woke up or vice versa before falling asleep, Samira began to be capricious and cry. Then the wife took her in her arms and fed or entertained. Naturally, at the same time, the driver switched to the mode of increased attentiveness and accuracy and reduced speed.
After returning, he goes only to the chair. You need to be patient and convince your wife that the child should be in the chair, and "we will not go anywhere while she is in your arms."
When preparing for the trip, I, of course, read a lot, but how children can stand the road. Those who traveled insisted that the children tolerated it without any problems. True, the smallest documented age of such a traveler - 10 months - ours was 8. Those who did not travel hysterically shouted that this was a mockery, and they would not risk it. It was surprising that among the commentators there were people who reasoned something like this:
Hello everyone. We drove far away Magadan-Novorossiysk-Magadan on Hayes children 3g and 7years old to sit in chairs not really the middle row of seats was laid out constantly turned out a large sofa from entertainment DVD toys, preferably bought on the way so interesting decorations, paper dolls for girls, in moderation sweets, crackers, more juice to drink, water during the trip, everyone was happy and happy. If they wanted to sleep, they lay down on pillows (they took home ones), the children were very happy with them, accordingly they took medications for any disorders, thank God they were not useful, they went without problems, the children quickly get used to the cove non-standard situations.
I was worried that my daughter was riding in the arms of a strapped-on mother. And then the children climb the car. It does not fit in my head, of course.
A table for passengers in the back, which is hung in the front seat, to put the tablet there and turn on the Peppa Pig, from which the daughter is just a fan. Accordingly, the tablet was changed from a stupid iPad to an android acer.
On the way, we made stops every 2-4 hours. If it was in nature, the child crawled on the rug or grass. It is better to take several tights here, so as not to particularly restrict your movements. If we stayed in cafes, then my daughter climbed over us, on the seats, on the table with her hands, along the neighbors :)
With you, of course, diapers (they took them off at natural stops so as not to overwhelm).
5-6 liters of warm water (although under such conditions it becomes warm very quickly) in order to wash the child on the way.
Of course, all kinds of toys, books, which are, in fact, also toys.
To walk around Irkutsk, we took a stroller with us, although there is a suspicion that a sling would have been enough, and this would have saved a lot of space in the trunk.
Our car was already tinted, but if not, I would have done so. Still, the sun does not burn out the eyes and the car heats up less.
Another useful thing is the Baby Monitor program for your phone. Reacts to sound and, when a certain threshold is reached, calls the specified number. You pick up the phone and listen - the car just passed, or the child woke up. Helps out in cases when the child fell asleep, but you need to stop and move away. Without fanaticism - not far and not for long. We also use it when the child sleeps on the bed at home, and we are in another room or on the street.
About Baikal. There is such a place there - Shamanka Rock. According to popular beliefs, there lived the god of Baikal - Burkhan - in a rock in the gorge. There are hitch posts not far from it. People generously tie colored ribbons on them. So they say that there is a very powerful energy here. Call it a point of power, a cursed place, an energy spot or whatever (I don't really believe in it anyway), but I still recommend being careful not to go there with children. We had two kids and both of us started to get nervous and capricious there, my daughter burst into tears. If I were without my wife, I would, of course, go with my daughter one more time to make a more representative sample. But he did not tempt fate.
In general, the daughter took the road very well. Sometimes she cried and was capricious, but the reasons were different - not the road or unfamiliar places. On the way back, we stopped at our relatives in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, on the lakes, in Kemerovo, to the grandmothers.
During this time, my daughter saw as many new people as, perhaps, in her entire short life she had not met)
The result of a two-week trip and meeting with relatives (I do not claim that this was an incentive, maybe everything just went on as usual):
Samira learned to stand on her feet for a few seconds
Then get up on your feet without help and without support.
Move along the bed, rearranging your legs.
Eat homemade food. She did not take porridge and mashed potatoes at all, but she sucked pieces of meat, cucumbers, apples, melon with great pleasure. And also mutton and chicken broths.
But after 2-3 years it will become difficult. Time must be used.
In September, perhaps, there will be another trip with a child.

What to take with you on the road - Irishka

Dec 20, 2012 - 7 tips on what to take on the road when you travel with ... thinking about how you can go on it to a distant ... Who neglects the use of a child seat for their child in the car, ...

When going on the road, no matter the trip will take several hours or a couple of days, it is important to think in advance about what you will have to eat. Of course, if you are driving, the roadside service can save you, but it may not be available everywhere either. And if you are traveling by train or bus, then on such a trip you should definitely stock up on food or a snack.

What should you take with you on the road? Here are some useful tips on what you can cook or take with you to make your trip as comfortable, safe and healthy as possible (that is, you are not interested in chips, snacks and other belly pleasures).

  • Food shouldn't take up much space. Of course, if you are driving, then you are your own boss and you can take containers or lunch boxes with your favorite food. But in other cases, it's just inconvenient. But disposable vacuum packaging with food cut into them is a great option.
  • Food shouldn't go bad quickly - avoid things that melt, spoil, and crumble quickly, such as dairy products, raw sausages, sandwiches with mayonnaise and various sauces.
  • No strong smells - this item concerns cheeses, sausages and other harsh-smelling food. Believe me, after a couple of hours on a bus or train, the smells of food will fill the air, so be careful when choosing products.

The rules are simple, but knowing them, you can make your life easier while traveling.

Now let's figure out what you can take and what to cook for the trip.

Good to know! If you are going on a trip to another country, study what products can be brought into the country so that it does not turn out so that a malicious border guard will force you to throw out all the food.

What can you take with you on the road?

What does not require cooking, just go to the store:

1. Vegetables and fruits. What could be simpler - there is no need to cook, it is tasty and healthy. At this point, the main thing is to take those products that do not spoil.

From fruits: apples, pears, oranges, tangerines, bananas.

From vegetables: cucumbers, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes (when buying, choose strong and small fruits in order to eat one at a time).

If the road is long and you take a couple of days with a margin, then it is better to take it entirely. Salads and sliced fruits should be eaten immediately, they quickly lose their "marketable" appearance.

2. Raw smoked sausages, salami and hard cheeses - cutting in vacuum packages is now very convenient. If you plan to take a piece or a stick of sausage, it is better to wrap it in cloth or paper, even in hot weather the sausage will be well preserved.

3. Nuts, dried fruits or muesli in bars. A safe bet on travel of any length. For nuts, it is better to take the unsalted version.

4. Vegetable and fruit chips. These are sold in the store, in fact, they are "dehydrated" pieces of fruits and vegetables without any additives. Or you can just grab dried apples, an excellent travel treat.

5. Children's vegetable or fruit purees. Its assortment is now huge, mashed potatoes are well stored on the road.

6. Drinking yoghurts - quickly deteriorate, but as an option for one of the first meals on the road is fine. The main thing is to eat / drink everything during the first 4-5 hours of the trip.

7. Instant porridge. They are suitable if you have access to boiling water during your trip.

8. Water is not food. Of course, but without it, the road is difficult. Preference should be given to plain water without gases and flavors.

You can find even more helpful tips in the video:

What to cook for the trip?

1. Eggs and meat. How without eggs and a piece of chicken, especially if the trip is expected to be long. Cook the eggs hard-boiled and wrap them in paper, so they last longer. From meat, it is better to give preference to chicken baked in the oven. It is more convenient to wrap a meat dish in foil, its surface reflects the sun's rays and preserves food for a longer period.

2. Frittata - an alternative to boiled eggs and fried chicken 🙂 But it is better not to store this dish for more than 24 hours.

Frittata on the road - a simple recipe with a photo

For 8 pieces you will need:

  • 6 eggs;
  • 100 ml sour cream;
  • grated cheese;
  • you can add salami, tomatoes, spinach, corn or green peas (all additives to your taste)
  • salt pepper

Set the oven to preheat to 180-200 degrees. Drive eggs into a large bowl, add sour cream and stir until smooth. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir. You can either bake it in a large baking dish for 30-40 minutes (then cut the frittata into pieces like a pie) or you can bake it in a muffin pan. In this case, pour 3/4 of the egg mass into each mold and bake in the oven for 20 minutes until tender.

3. Homemade oatmeal cookies - natural and tasty. with photos and step-by-step descriptions will help you get ready for the road without unnecessary problems.

4. Various sandwiches, and stuffed pita / tortilla. This is the most common meal option for any trip. Here your imagination can roam, any fillings: meat, herbs, cheese and various sauces. Whatever your heart desires, the main thing is not to forget the rules of food for the trip, described above. It is better to wrap sandwiches and pita bread in parchment paper.

5. Granola - sweet baked muesli. Allows you to quickly "recharge" on the road. You can buy these bars at the store, but you can also make your own.

For cooking you will need:

  • 1 glass of rolled oats;
  • 3 tbsp oat flour (you can make it yourself, grind oatmeal in a coffee grinder);
  • 1/4 tsp salt;
  • 1/4 tsp soda;
  • 1/2 tsp vanillin;
  • 2 tbsp coconut or sunflower oil;
  • 3 tbsp liquid honey
  • 1 cup of your favorite nuts (peanuts, unsalted unroasted almonds, cashews, etc.)
  • The nuts need to be cut to a size convenient for you. In a separate bowl, combine the nuts, rolled oats, oatmeal, salt, baking soda and vanillin.

Melt honey in a small saucepan, add butter. Everything is done over low heat. Pour the walnut-oat mixture with this mass and mix well.

Spread parchment paper on a baking sheet and put the oatmeal mixture on it, smooth to form an even flat layer.

Put in the oven, preheated to 180 degrees, bake for about 20 minutes. Allow to cool, after which you can cut into small pieces.

You can store granola in a regular container or paper bag.

As you can see, the range of food and products that you can take with you on the road is wide and you definitely won't have to go hungry.

P.S. What do you take with you on the road / train / trip? Share your tips and recipes in the comments to the article

Going with your baby on a long journey, you should take with you food with a long shelf life, in a convenient, sealed package. In addition, food and meals should be specially designed for children.

With kids up to 1 year who are only breastfeeding, there will be no problems.

If the baby is on artificial or mixed feeding, you need to take bottles, dry milk mixture, bottled water, as well as a boiler or bottle warmer or just a thermos with hot water, so that you can quickly prepare food for the baby on the road. For babies who are bottle-fed, it is also recommended to take baby bottled water with you in order to periodically offer it to the baby.

For children over 6 months old, who is already receiving complementary foods, during the trip it is worth stocking up on industrial baby food in jars and instant baby cereals. To be able to dilute instant porridge, you need to take a thermos with hot water.

Child over 1 year old you can take home-cooked food in accordance with the age of the crumbs, as well as baby kefir, baby cottage cheese in individual packaging, instant cereals, industrial baby juices, baby tea.

Fermented milk products must be fresh, it is imperative to check their expiration date. It is important to remember to store them at low temperatures, so if you are bringing these foods with you, consider a cooler bag. If you don't have one, you can store fermented milk products in a regular bag, but you don't need to put them in the sun. And we must remember that in this case, their shelf life is approximately halved, so these products should be consumed within 24 hours after purchase.

For children from 1 to 2 years old you can cook with you on the road steam cutlets, boiled potatoes or other vegetables (zucchini, carrots, cauliflower, etc.), a hard-boiled egg, buckwheat or rice porridge cooked in water without adding oil, since milk porridge with butter deteriorates faster. You can use fruits such as apples, pears, bananas, and raw vegetables such as carrots. They must be thoroughly washed in advance in warm running water, and then dried and already dry laid in a tightly closed container.

Child over 2 years old in addition to the above, you can take homemade cheese cakes, curd casserole. But cottage cheese dishes can be stored no more than a day, and in a refrigerator bag no more than 2 days. They should be wrapped in foil or a tight-fitting plastic container.
Vegetables are also suitable - cucumbers and tomatoes, from which you can make a salad on the road, as well as sandwiches with cheese.

If you are traveling by train, plane, or boat, you can feed a baby, who is already 2 years old, with “adult” food, which is offered in this type of transport. However, here, too, you should carefully choose dishes for the crumbs. You should avoid food that can be easily poisoned: it is mainly meat, as well as all kinds of exotic products. You should not give your baby during the trip dishes that he has not tried before: they can cause an inadequate reaction of the body, and the trip will be ruined. Salads from familiar products, soups (but also without exotic ingredients, so their composition must be carefully studied), vegetable dishes, such as rice with vegetables, boiled potatoes, and from drinks - compotes, jelly, are suitable for a crumb.

Children's food on the road: where to store food?

It is worth considering how you will store food on the road. If you have a long journey, it will be difficult to do without a thermal bag. However, such a bag has a limited storage time for food, therefore, if you spend more than one day on the road, you can take food prepared at home for the first time, and then use children's instant cereals, vegetable and meat purees, and baby cookies. In shops on the way, you can buy fresh dairy products: kefir, curds, yoghurts.

There are a large number of items on the market today that can make it easier to prepare and store food while traveling. After all, it is very important that the baby's diet does not differ too much from the one to which he is accustomed at home.

Thermal bag(cooler bag, thermal container) is a thermos in the form of a box, capable of maintaining the initial temperature of products for a long time. It can be plastic or soft tissue. There are thermal bags in which there is an additional inner compartment with increased thermal insulation. Perishable foodstuffs that require storage at low temperatures (fermented milk products, cutlets and other meat products, cheesecakes, etc.) can be put there.

Baby food warmers- an irreplaceable thing if the baby receives complementary foods. They are quite compact, so they won't take up much space in your luggage. The only problem can be the lack of sources of electricity on the road. Although there are heaters designed for in-car use and also battery-powered. For battery-powered models, remember to take a spare kit on the road.

Thermos for food- this is a very compact and practical thing that is suitable for not very distant travel. In size, they are slightly larger than thermoses for liquids.
The set, as a rule, includes a set of tight-fitting containers in which you can put different dishes. However, such a thermos will be enough for one, maximum two meals. The maximum heat retention period for classic thermoses does not exceed 18 hours. Moreover, it is not recommended to store food or drinks in a thermos for more than a day.

Thermos for water are necessary in order to take hot water with you to dilute infant dry milk formula, instant cereals, and also to get warm water for drinking crumbs when mixed with cold, since the child's body becomes more vulnerable to all kinds of infections on the road and hypothermia must be excluded ... In a thermos, you can pour warm compote or fruit drink, cooked at home.

There are also utensils in which it is convenient to transport food and from which you can feed and drink a child on the road:

  • plastic containers with lids are convenient for transporting food prepared at home;

Baby food on the road: what shouldn't you feed your baby?

Instant cereals for adults, as well as instant soups and purees are not suitable for a small child. It is strongly discouraged to take sausages with you on the road, as they quickly deteriorate and are easily poisoned, even if they are intended for feeding children. You can also get poisoned on the road with unsterilized milk, as well as with any homemade dairy products, such as cottage cheese or kefir, because they do not undergo heat treatment.

You cannot buy food from your hands during the trip, as well as at train stations and in roadside shops. It is best to purchase the products you need in advance. But if you still need anything, it's best to find a large supermarket along the way.

Hygiene rules during the trip

To avoid health problems while traveling, it is important to practice good hygiene. It is, of course, more difficult to do this on the road than at home. However, there are many different hygiene products that you can use on the go.

Your child must wash his hands before eating. If it is possible to wash your hands under the tap (for example, on the train), this should be done using antibacterial soap. It should be noted that, despite the fact that antibacterial soap is not recommended for daily use, it will be indispensable when traveling. It is better if the soap is liquid, because solid soap, even antibacterial, can grow bacteria over time.

If it is not possible to wash your baby's hands, you can use sanitary napkins with antibacterial impregnation. There are also alcohol-based hand sanitizers available at the pharmacy. You can also use paper towels to wipe your baby's face and, if necessary, hands after eating.

Make sure to wear a waterproof bib during meals to avoid staining or wetting your baby's clothes while feeding.
