The approach of that very magic can be felt long before the cherished date. Especially if you get carried away with needlework: we suggest trying to make exclusive Christmas balls with your own hands. Of course, in stores today there is a huge selection of toys and jewelry, but a homemade thing will cause much more pleasant emotions and delight. So let's get started.

DIY Christmas balls decoupage

If you are a beginner, then the decor will be extremely simple for you: use thin paper and napkins that are neatly glued to the ball. And if you paint on such a ball with a brush, it will look like a unique hand-painted painting. Foam, wood or plastic can be used as starting material.

You will need:

  • balls for the tree;
  • several napkins with New Year's or Christmas pictures (it is advisable to use three-layer napkins);
  • white acrylic paint;
  • one tube of PVA glue;
  • some glossy varnish with which you can coat the ball when it's ready;
  • brush with soft bristles;
  • ordinary sponge;
  • rhinestones and sparkles optional.

Preparing the ball. Remove the wire mount from the ball before starting work. Next, use fine sandpaper: use it to clean the ball from sparkles and rhinestones. If there is paint on the ball, then it must be washed off. To do this, you can use a nail polish remover (wipe the ball with a cotton pad). Next, the ball is washed with water and again smoothed with sandpaper. Such processing will provide a tighter adhesion of the pattern to the surface of the toy.

We are priming. We use ordinary PVA glue. Mix about five milliliters with white acrylic paint (about thirty milliliters). The composition is ready, it can be applied to the ball. Keep in mind that it is best to apply such a blank using an ordinary sponge. The mixture should dry thoroughly on the ball, after which the second layer of the composition will be applied.

Decor. Consider the size of the ball when choosing a pattern. The drawing is cut out and glued to the toy. The best thing to do in this case is to use napkins. The pattern comes off the paint top coat.

Note! A torn or cut design is best done with a small notch. So the picture can take on the shape of a ball, and unaesthetic folds will not form on it.

It is best to glue the picture with PVA glue. Just do not forget to dilute it with water (equal proportions). The easiest way is to apply the pattern in the classical way: smear the ball of glue and put the pattern on top. At this stage, maximum accuracy is important so that the fragile drawing does not break. Glitters or rhinestones can be applied along the edges, which will hide possible roughness and unevenness between the pattern and the surface of the ball.

DIY Christmas balls from satin ribbons

This technique is called an artichoke. Its essence is that individual parts are sewn on and glued to each other. The name of this relatively new technique is simply deciphered: the fact is that the final product is very similar to the fruit of an artichoke. The technique, it should be noted, is simple. So why not master it? So, we make Christmas balls with our own hands: a master class with a photo.

We start by preparing the base for the ball. The easiest way is to use foam blanks. Today you can buy them in almost any specialty store.

Getting started with ribbons. They are cut into strips of medium thickness. Be sure to consider the proportions: let's say the width of the tape you choose is about two and a half centimeters. In this case, the length of the strip should not be less than six centimeters. A square is separately cut out of the ribbon, which is pricked onto the ball with the help of needles.

Now we take the previously prepared strip and carefully fold it in the form of a small triangle. He is pinning himself to the square. Note that the needles should be at the bottom corner of the fold of the ribbon.
Each triangle is tightly fixed on all sides of the square. After the first row is ready, you can start doing the next. The principle is the same, however, when attaching, we use a checkerboard pattern.

The ball will look more interesting if the colors of the ribbons alternate.

Thus, fasten the tapes to the ball until such time, until it is completely covered with them. The bottom-most part of the ball is decorated with the last square. For convenience, you can tie a thin satin ribbon to the ball: it can be hung on it from the Christmas tree.

A wide range of ready-made Christmas balls in a wide variety of styles is on sale. But it is always more pleasant to hear from friends and acquaintances the praise and admiration for the exclusive outfit of the forest beauty. Decoupage- a popular type of decoration, which prompted many lovers of originality to make a New Year's outfit with their own hands using this technique.

Step-by-step instructions for decoupage a ball

Decor for beginners consists in sticking a picture of napkins or tissue paper on the surface of the ball. During further processing with paints or other aids toy looks like hand painted. The source material is Christmas decorations: wooden, plastic and foam.

Preparing the ball for decoupage. At the beginning of work, remove the wire fastener from the ball, fasten it tightly to the rod for convenience. Then use fine sandpaper to clean the glitter from the toys, and wash off the paint by moistening a cotton pad with nail polish remover. Rinse with water and sand again. After such processing, the adhesion of the pattern and the surface of the ball will be better, since it is more difficult to make decoupage on a perfectly smooth base. Next, you need to degrease the prepared material.

The next stage is the primer, which is the base for the pictures. To do this, add PVA glue, about 5 ml, to 20-30 ml of white acrylic paint. Apply such a composition to the workpiece with a sponge and leave to dry, then repeat the application of the primer.

This is followed by the decor of Christmas balls using decoupage technique. Having picked up the New Year's motif in accordance with the size of the Christmas ball, cut it out and glue it to the surface. The best material in this case is napkins, in which you need to tear off the selected pattern from the top paint layer.

Advice! It is recommended to make cuts on a torn or cut out drawing, which will allow the picture to acquire the shape of a toy and avoid the formation of folds, which must be carefully smoothed out.

For gluing, you can use PVA glue, diluted with water in equal proportions. The drawing is glued in one of two ways: you can attach the image and smear it on top with a soft-bristled brush, or apply glue to the surface of the ball, and glue a festive motif to it. In both cases, care must be taken not to tear the picture.

After complete drying, the ball must be opened again with acrylic paint in order to level the line between the background and the pasted image. Everyone chooses the main color according to their wishes and depending on the color scheme of the picture.

After drying, the glue can leave rough marks that need to be slightly touched up with sandpaper. The decor at the final stage depends on the imagination. There are enough options: add sparkles, highlight the contours of the image itself with a thin brush and paint, etc. The final touch is to apply glossy varnish in several layers, each completely drying out. For greater clarity, we offer a color step-by-step instruction on how to decoupage Christmas balls with your own hands with the attached photos and videos.

Master Class

To work in decoupage style you will need:

  • Christmas balls;
  • napkins with New Year's motives (preferably three-layer);
  • acrylic paints;
  • PVA glue;
  • glossy varnish;
  • brushes;
  • sponge;
  • contours;
  • semolina.

An unusual decoration of the New Year's tree will be the do-it-yourself decoupage of Christmas balls with photographs of your loved ones. The process is the same, only instead of napkins - a photo, which is pre-soaked in warm water, and then pry off the edge with a needle and separate the unnecessary paper. There remains a thin image, and glue it. You can make a frame around from rolled up napkins. Then a little bit of fine art and, as a completion, varnish the surface.

Children will enjoy colorful toys. Decoupage of Christmas balls using foam is performed according to the usual scheme, and if you add a few strokes with glitter and apply 3D varnish to the drawings to give them a three-dimensional image, then such foam balls will replace the expected gift from Santa Claus. The training master class with the corresponding photos can be viewed on the Internet.

The use of contour painting will make even the simplest decoupage an original decoration. Or, alternatively, do-it-yourself reverse decoupage. In this case, do all the manipulations, only from the inside of the ball, dividing it into two halves, if the material of the toy allows. Process each of them step by step, as described above. The picture is glued to the inside of the hemisphere, and the general decor can be decorated in accordance with the photo of crafts using the decoupage technique.

Maybe not exactly a New Year theme, but balloons with roses are very attractive. Choose napkins with pink motifs, and ivory paint is ideal for the main background. At the end, decorate the fastening of the toy with ribbons and bows. Such a decoration will add summer colors to the decor of a winter spruce.

All of the above options for decoupage Christmas balls with your own hands are basic information, and having mastered this technique, fixing it with the watched video, you can show your individuality in each craft and make not only a decoration for the Christmas tree, but also a gift souvenir.

2. Cut out our circles. In each circle we inscribe an equilateral triangle, which can be drawn by hand using a ruler and a pencil in each circle, or, from thick cardboard, we cut out a triangle template and draw it.

3. Carefully using a ruler, bend along the sides of the previously drawn triangles.

4. Take five circles and glue them so that the top of the triangles is at one point. We have got the top of the ball, which looks like a flower. At the very top we make a hole, thread the ribbon and fix it with a knot
Similarly, glue 5 fragments together. This will be the bottom of the ball.

5. Now we make the middle of our ball. We glue individual fragments into a strip and close it into a ring.

6. Now we collect all three parts of our ball into one whole: top, bottom and middle.

Photo10.

7. Well, our ball is ready, you can decorate the Christmas tree or the New Year's hall.

You can make the Christmas ball not so big, but smaller using eight circles.

2. Draw equilateral triangles in each circle, then fold back the valves.
3. Then glue the first four blanks together, then the next four blanks.

4. We connect two blanks into one, we got such a small ball.

You can also make such a ball from the same blanks.:

Step-by-step workflow:

1. Cut out 8 circles from colored paper using a stencil. And you also need to cut two smaller circles.

2. Take a large circle, fold it in half, then again in half.

3. We do this with all large circles.
4. Then take a small circle and glue the folded large circles onto it.

5. So we glue all four circles on a small circle. We do the second half in the same way. We got two halves.

6.Glue the two halves together, and gently straighten the folded "pockets" of the circles.

7. Here we also have such a New Year's ball.

These paper balls can be made on a Christmas tree with your own hands.
