How to make the edges of jeans shaggy. How to make holes in jeans - all ways. How to remake old jeans

Often a hole appears on your favorite jeans. Small or large, neat or not, it appears and spoils the overall look. And then the owner decides to send the jeans for scrap. But is it necessary? Especially when you consider that ripped jeans are all the rage these days. So isn't it better to learn how to make holes in jeans at home!

Today, every second girl has worn or ripped jeans in her wardrobe, they are worn by everyone from provincial schoolgirls to world stars.

However, if you come to the store, ripped jeans, due to their popularity, are not cheap at all. That is why we will tell you how to make holes and scuffs on jeans with your own hands. Doing this is not at all difficult, but the result is very beautiful and stylish!

Necessary materials

For work, we need materials that any girl has at home, namely:

  1. Jeans. Those on which a hole has wound up, or any that need to be made torn;
  2. Scissors;
  3. Blade or utility knife;
  4. Board (you can take any chopping board);
  5. Manicure scissors.

First, you need to mark the boundaries of future holes with chalk. You need to make such marks wherever you want to make a cut or scuff. It is best to choose places above or below the knee.

There are several basic ways to make beautiful ripped jeans.

The first way

We put a board under the incision site. The first step is to make two cuts on the jeans. These cuts should be made parallel to the white threads. Then carefully pick up the white threads with scissors or the sharp end of a knife and pull them out. The main thing is that these threads do not break.

Now you need to pick up and pull out the layer of dark, denim thread that runs perpendicular to the white. After the dark threads have been removed, the first hole in the jeans is ready.

To prevent the hole from losing its shape after washing, you can glue it from the inside with non-woven liner and stitch the edges.

Make the same holes in all the right places, and voila, the new outfit is ready!

You can also make holes with "noodles" as shown in the photo:

Method two

We also start by marking future holes and placing a plank so as not to damage the back of the leg. We make cuts across the fabric, then release the transverse threads by pulling out the longitudinal ones.

Then we clean off the layer of longitudinal threads with a knife or blade, remove the excess.

We will process the edges of the holes with sandpaper or you can use a regular kitchen grater.

The third option

This method involves the use of a kitchen knife and is suitable for those who want jeans with many straight cuts along the entire length of the leg. There may be fewer cuts, but this type of them looks much more impressive if there are a lot of holes on one leg.

So, we take an ordinary kitchen knife, it is desirable that it be with an uneven blade, with the so-called teeth. We put on the jeans on ourselves and, slightly pulling back, make even cuts on the fabric horizontally. You can use the same method as in the previous two methods, and, instead of putting your pants on yourself, put a board or an old thick magazine under the future cuts, for example.

We make many, many cuts. Then we wash the jeans several times to bring the cuts to the desired condition. And now the stylish jeans with holes are ready!

Fashion scuffs

To give your jeans a tattered look without punching holes in them, you can scuff them slightly. To do this, you need to take a file or pumice stone, place a plank under the right place and rub carefully in the necessary, previously marked places.

You should not get carried away, because then the jeans will not look worn, they will have a worn and sloppy look.

Fading can also be done with a regular nail file, but this will take quite a long time. In this case, the jeans are best placed on something rounded, for example, on a pipe. It is not recommended to do this on the knee, as there is a possibility of erasing your skin.

Fashion dictates its own rules every season. New trends in magazines are forcing girls to spend a lot of money and nerves to match the fashion. But there are things that change from year to year and do not lose their relevance. These include ripped jeans. Despite their shabby appearance, the cost in the store is impressive. After all, they make the appearance of girls fashionable and daring. It is also worth noting that ripped jeans are worn not only by the fairer sex, but also by men.

What to do if the dream of torn jeans does not leave, and there are not enough funds for the purchase. The solution is very simple - it is to make holes and scuffs with your own hands. This article provides tips and techniques for creating your dream jeans.

How to make holes in jeans - all ways

How to make ripped jeans with a pumice stone

The pumice stone will provide stylish fading that will suit people hesitating to wear ripped jeans. You need to take a pumice stone and a board less than the width of the leg. Place it inside, this is done in order not to damage the back of the fabric. Use a pumice stone to rub the places where scuffs are needed. Pre-mark with chalk. The scuffs look spectacular not only on the jeans themselves, but also on the pockets.

How to make holes in jeans with a grater

This method is used for frizz and is more suitable for fading jeans. Do not apply too much pressure on the jeans with a grater, the fabric may tear. Such frailty will look beautiful if the jeans are additionally rubbed with sandpaper. Using it, you get the effect of worn jeans.

How to make ripped jeans with a clerical knife

First, be sure to put a plank in the leg, otherwise the knife will cut through the fabric on the other side, and will also scratch the surface on which the jeans lie. Having marked the places for the slots with chalk, the cuts are carefully made with a knife. Do not make them very even. Curved lines will give a more stylish and natural look. There are white threads inside the fabric, they can be tousled, partially pulled out. You can also remove them completely, and scrape the edges of the hole with a pumice stone. If you want a neater look, then the threads do not need to be pulled out. In order for them not to come out during washing, you need to glue the inside with interlining, and sew the edges. You can also cut various shapes with a knife. This will emphasize the girl's personality.

How to make holes in jeans using a razor blade

Be very careful when using this method as it can cut your fingers severely. A plank is placed inside the leg. Next, the blade makes several cuts across the leg. Do not cut up to the seams of the jeans. The distance between the lines should not be too small, this will give a more beautiful look. Next, pull out the threads and fray the edges of the lines.

  1. The fringe on the edges of the legs will help to add originality. You can make it with a pumice stone or a grater.
  2. If it is decided to make holes of various shapes, then they must be glued with non-woven fabric on the back side. Otherwise, the pattern will lose shape over time during washing.
  3. Jeans with bleached areas and scuffs look stylish and effective. This is done very easily with bleach. It needs to be poured over the place where the hole or scuff will be made.
  4. It is better to work with damp jeans, as dust and small particles of fabric are formed. They are difficult to remove from the carpet.
  5. You can make decor using paper clips, stripes, rivets. Such jeans will definitely not leave anyone indifferent.
  6. Jewelry made of aged metal and natural stones will add vintage style.
  7. You can decorate the hole with a beautiful colored fabric or lace, sewing it on the inside of the leg.
  8. Jeans look very beautiful when the cuts are trimmed with zigzag colored threads.
  9. Ripped jeans should only be washed with your hands. The machine will tear them apart even more, making it look casual.

The most important rule here is not to overdo it with clothes. Otherwise, you can get the opposite effect, and outwardly it will look cheap and vulgar.

If jeans have a lot of holes, scuffs, then the top should be modest and monochromatic. A plain T-shirt, turtleneck, sweater will do. Will look stylish with sneakers or sneakers.

If jeans are embroidered with natural stones and lace fabric, then they can be worn with a blouse and high-heeled shoes. If the stones are monochromatic and calm tones, then the top can be bright and combined with color.

Ripped jeans with a leather jacket or biker jacket look stylish and bold.

Open-toed shoes, as well as accessories in the form of beads and a belt will add elegance.

Equal jeans are always worn on a naked body; you should never wear tights or socks under the bottom.

Jeans look stylish and harmonious with ballet shoes.

Pairing ripped jeans with rock and grunge outfits is daring.

Using these tips, you can make your own vintage, stylish jeans. Old unnecessary jeans will again delight. This will save the budget, and the result will not be found anywhere else, which will definitely make the image individual.

If you look closely at those around you, you can conclude that jeans with holes are gaining more and more popularity, and at high revs. Not so long ago, such an element of the wardrobe caused, if not condemnation, then certainly bewilderment about what good can be in obviously old clothes that are no longer even possible to sew.

It is hardly possible to establish exactly how the idea of first introducing clothes into the masses with what was recently considered a defect is hardly possible. It is possible that this happened completely by accident, and as you know, there is nothing more permanent than temporary or accidental. Of course, the fashion of the 30s not only did not approve of such a phenomenon, but in principle would not allow it, but modern fashion designers are happy to practice the ability to make holes in jeans.

What are holes in jeans for?

Immediately I would like to note that the beautiful holes are not those that have turned out as a result of natural wear, but artificial ones. What is the difference? It is obvious. If you deliberately wear pants until holes are formed on them, then you run the risk of getting not a fashionable thing, but a rag that no one needs, because, firstly, the holes will have a far from aesthetic appearance, and secondly, most often they are not formed at all where you would like to see them. Therefore, the option that the use of women's jeans with holes is that one thing can be worn indefinitely is obviously eliminated.

So are they really needed? As practice shows, yes. First of all, clothes with holes, in particular jeans, are preferred by those who do not like monotony and "incubation". Admit it, how often do you meet people with whom you share certain items of your wardrobe? If your things are not sewn to order, then most likely this happens quite often. At the same time, it is almost impossible to find two completely identical jeans for men with holes, as well as for women, since the implementation of this process, even according to all the rules, most often ends in different results.

And it is not the first season that the fashion for ripped, frayed jeans has been preserved. Fashionable exclusives do not have to be bought in an expensive boutique; you can independently decorate an old, well-worn pair, with a few holes and scuffs. How to make holey jeans at home, and this article tells.

Long ago, frayed and ripped jeans have moved from the category of teenage hip clothes. Now no eminent designer can do without a couple of such models in his next collection. And luxury jeans have become not only everyday, but also quite smart.

Jeans, diligently torn by a designer in strictly defined places corresponding to the latest fashion, can cost on a par with a good fur coat. They are decorated with embroidery and lace, beads and rhinestones, worn in the most relevant places, in a strictly verified order. But denim has a magical feature: when working with it, everyone becomes a talented designer. Therefore, there is no particular need to overpay for a trendy thing, because it is almost impossible to make a mistake. If you spend a little time, show some patience and accuracy, fantasize - the most ordinary couple can be turned into a trendy thing.

For work, you can use the tools at hand: bleach, sandpaper, a blade or an oblique knife. You can also use a nail file and crochet hook, fabric paint, and whatever decorative items you can think of.

How to make holes in jeans

To make holes in jeans yourself, and so that they look beautiful at the same time, you can use the method presented below:

1. Jeans have a layer of white thread that runs parallel to the waistband. We make two cuts parallel to them at a distance from each other using a blade, scalpel or clerical knife.

2. We take out these white threads with something sharp, you can use the same small crochet hook. We do it carefully, try not to damage them.

3. Pull out the parallel dark threads. It turns out a hole with white threads.

Its edges can be stitched, thus protecting it from further destruction.

Making scuffs

Now we will tell you how to make jeans wear at home. There are several methods, one of which we choose depending on the density of the fabric and your taste.

1. Sandpaper. For beautiful, convincing fading, it is best to choose fine grain paper. In addition, you will need a small board that fits into the leg. The place where we intend to place the scuff, soak with water and squeeze hard. We put a board and three sandpaper. Looks good when worn under or over the knee, on or under back pockets. Do not overdo it: remember that over time these places will decay even more. Also, try not to hit the seam so as not to get an unplanned hole.

2. Pumice. Scuffs made with pumice stone are more delicate and, in general, a different aesthetic effect is achieved. You can make old-fashioned jeans out of brand new ones by walking all over the legs.

3. Using a hook or a ripper, you can make small gaps by pulling out the transverse fibers of the weave, being careful not to touch the longitudinal ones.

4. Bleach. The final step in aging the fabric and creating scuffs can be bleaching these areas. Using the most aggressive chlorine in its composition, you will achieve additional deterioration of the fabric, and in the treated areas, over time, you will get very natural beautiful holes.

See these and other methods in the video tutorials.

Sometimes it happens that a hole suddenly appears on your favorite, but already worn out jeans, or even on the newly purchased ones.

Big, creepy or small, barely noticeable, but no less insidious from this. What now - your favorite thing in a landfill? And who then and why came up with the fashion for jeans with holes?

Maybe just the same victim due to the loss of a comfortable, high-quality item. Or maybe it's just another funny guy who added notes a la homeless to fashionable everyday life. But be that as it may, the fashion for ripped jeans is both beautiful and profitable from the point of view of the ability to reanimate clothes that are very sorry to throw away.

And so it turns out that from old spoiled pants you can now build an ultra stylish little thing that at once can make its owner an object of attention for fashion fans. In addition, it is not too difficult, you just need to connect your imagination.
Jeans with holes are loved by stars and fashion girls like Ashley Greene and Rihanna….

... and the most ordinary women of fashion. Jeans with holes are cool!

Ripped denim clothing has been an attribute of youth subcultures since the days of the hippies. Today they have partially lost this status, and now absolutely all lovers of original and shocking clothes are walking in them, which does not depend on gender or age. They are also made by all and sundry. Therefore, the results are so diverse. After all, if you just rip somehow even the most branded jeans, then they will look just like that. Therefore, even ripping jeans, it turns out, is necessary according to all laws and regulations.

General rules

The first rule of cutting jeans is that you only need to rip that part of them that is located on the legs, and not on the pelvis. The fact is that pants with rips at the fifth point, like knee hole jeans, do not look entirely aesthetically pleasing, if not indecent. After all, a normal person will definitely not like to look at your underwear, looking out of holes (although, a few years ago, torn jeans were considered clochard's clothes, so - who knows ...).

Dangerous in this regard and a rupture on the hip joint, both in front and behind. It is better to do it a little lower, because if you even bend over a little or sit down in this outfit, then the hole will immediately corrode to the very waist. In the upper part of the trousers, only the use of back pockets for striping will be painless, under which the whole fabric will remain, and it will look great.

Now you need to determine at what angle are those same white threads which should remain in our hole =) It seems that all the threads on the denim run diagonally, but in fact, everything is not so (see photo). If you "fluff" the edge of denim a little, it immediately becomes clear - where are the dark threads, where are the light ones and what is at what angle. On ready-made jeans, you will not have the opportunity to check in this way (unless you need to hem them, for example), but this is not necessary either - on all standard normal jeans, these cherished white threads run parallel to the floor!

Before cutting the jeans, measure the required height and location of the cut. To do this, put them on and mark them with tailor's chalk, dry soap or pencil at the height you want.

Take off your jeans and lay them out on a flat surface. Look at the material again, try to imagine what you want to get in the end. If necessary, correct the length of the legs, apply additional markings on the fabric.

Next, we make 2 cuts parallel to the white threads, along the markings. We take something with a sharp end (but not too sharp - so as not to damage the excess) and begin to carefully pull out the white threads from the incision, so as not to break. It is enough to pick up and pull out a few pieces to see a fringe of dark threads running perpendicularly. Now we grab (first one at a time, then it will be easier to pull straight in bundles) these dark threads and gradually tear them out of our hole! Everything!

If you want to thin out the white threads, you can do this with scissors after. If you want, leave them hanging around the edges or cut them off. This method allows you to achieve exactly what you need and how you need it. The main principle is to pull out the dark threads, remove them in the shape of a hole! Therefore, the shape can be any, you just need to think about how and where to make cuts, parallel exactly white threads (otherwise you will cut them and nothing will work). Let's just say that cuts are needed only in order to separate some threads from others and pull out unnecessary ones. Therefore, in fact, one small notch is enough - and you can pull out dark threads from there, cutting them with small scissors in the intended shape. This is how the heart is made in this photo:

As you can see, the cut can be either through or with a backing. In the second case, it is assumed that a small piece of fabric will be sewn on the inside, differing in color and texture. Which of the cuts will look best on your jeans is up to you.

If the cut will be through, simply guide the scissors along the marked contour. You can first cut out a smaller piece of fabric to try on the jeans again and evaluate how the garment will look in the end.

If you plan to use a backing, you will need to carve it out first. The edges of the backing should be about one and a half centimeters wider than the edges of the cutout. Be sure to process the cut with an overlock or by hand so that the fabric does not crumble. Then carefully open the outer or inner seam of the jeans, secure the backing with pins and stitch it to the base fabric on a sewing machine. The seam is laid strictly along the previously marked contour of the cutout.
Once the backing is ready, you can cut the jeans nicely inside the outline and remove any excess fabric. Or you can - lay a few more lines along the contour, retreating into the pattern, and make a cut already between these lines.

Advice: if you want a heart (or something else of a specific shape), be sure to then glue it (non-woven, for example) from the inside of the edge or sew it with a zigzag. Or fix it somehow - this is important, otherwise, when wearing and washing, all the beauty will creep, the necessary threads will fall out (well, in general, you get the idea). By the way, you can sew on a bright piece of fabric from the inside out so that it shines through the hole - for greater beauty: o)

Tip 2: if you are very afraid of ruining your jeans (or have already ruined them) - make a hole you intended on a separate piece of denim. Then boldly cut out the desired shape on the jeans with scissors, and substitute a piece of fabric with the finished hole there from the inside out and sew (do not forget to fix the edges everywhere!).

In the photo on the left, I did just that, because I initially made the wrong cuts and ruined everything. But even in a photograph it is almost imperceptible. Therefore, I drew in red how to sew - close to the edge, you can use a zigzag (I have it sewn with the usual straight stitch).

Recently, trendy jeans can be seen at fashion shows. with holes and lace... You can make the same exclusive new clothes yourself. To do this, you can sheathe the hole with a ribbon of guipure, collected in a ruffle. Or you can hem the lace fabric from the inside under the hole: this way, when moving, the lace will be very tempting to be seen through the hole in the leg, which will make the jeans more romantic.

So that it doesn't look so neat fringe is done around the edges... One of the easiest ways to fray the contours of a hole is to machine wash your jeans. If, again, you don’t have enough time for such manipulations, or maybe you just don’t want to wait long, then there is an easier way for you. A manicure file is taken, or sandpaper, or an iron brush, and these instruments of torture torment the incision in the pants.

By the way, with a small file, scissor paper, a footstroke or a nail file, you can make chic holes but this takes a long time.
We take the pants themselves, clerical knives, a small foot, chlorine bleach, scissors and a lining in order not to cut through all the jeans entirely. Now let's get to work.

Take your jeans, put a lining, pour bleach on the right place and start rubbing with your little foot, but be sure to remember that you should not do this on your knees, because at the folds they wipe by themselves. The aging effect will appear immediately and will delight you for a long time.

You can also do this: pull the pant leg on something rounded, just not on the leg, because from subsequent actions the fabric can be torn along with the skin, so it is better to use a piece of a water pipe. Now it remains only to carry the tool back and forth around the circumference of the hole, until you get an excellent abrasion and a hole in the center.

If you choose imitation fabric torn by claws, then it will look more civilized and tidy, and also suggest grunge.

Jeans scuffs

And one more thing: it is not necessary to grind jeans to holes, you can just give them a shabby look, which will be interpreted as vintage. Jeans with DIY holes will not be completely complete without signs of the effect of time on them - scuffs. As mentioned above, this result can be achieved with a file, a nail file, pumice stone, or even an ordinary kitchen grater.

By the way, in the seventies, in order to give the new branded jeans already then fashionable light wear, they used a simple brick. Yes, yes, they simply crawled the tissue in the selected area until the desired result was achieved.
For greater reliability, these places were also treated with a chlorine-containing agent - the same "Belize". In addition to the bleached effect, it made the fabric look more shabby, which is why beautiful natural holes appeared in the places of scuffs after several washes. The same tool now treats cut holes on the legs and their contours, making them seem more natural, and the fringe around the edges also looks quite natural.

If jeans appear scuffs between the legs, then such a hole can be ennobled. It's enough to take a piece of denim from other old jeans, and it's good if they are a few shades lighter and a little thinner. A square of the desired size is cut out of this flap, which will cover the hole entirely and a little more, slightly shaggy the edges and sew on a shabby place on a typewriter with colored threads or manually with a decorative seam. For greater harmony, we sew jeans with several more of the same squares, picturesquely scattered over the most frayed places or on random sections of jeans.

Such an outrage, if desired, can be torn a little, you can whiten it or decorate it to your taste with rivets, paper clips, blocks or rhinestones.

For example, like this:
You will need paper clips and sharp scissors.

If, in addition to the shape, you want to change the color, then just spray on the denim with bleach from a spray bottle, and then do not forget to rinse in a solution of water and vinegar (2 tsp per liter 3) to neutralize it, otherwise the stains will spread strongly.

If you don't like it yet, you can continue the execution until boring simple jeans become a real masterpiece in avant-garde art. However, one should not forget about the sense of style and measure, so as not to turn your jeans into a silly and vulgar outfit. And inspiration for work can be found on the Internet.

What is more convenient to "spoil" jeans?

A scalpel works best for this. The incisions made with it are very neat, and besides, it is easy to make them on the fabric with this tool. True, you can use a regular straight razor or simple blades.

Scissors and a clerical knife are not so convenient, but in the absence of other tools, these will be fine too. You will also need something solid that you do not mind spoiling: for example, a piece of plywood or a board. The board is placed between the fabric of the legs so as not to cut through them.

At first glance, everything is simple - in order to make jeans with holes, you first need to cut them with scissors. The cut does not have to be rectangular. You can cut patterns and whole plot compositions on jeans, having prepared a paper stencil in advance. The stencil is fixed on the leg with the help of tailor's pins, the outline is outlined with chalk or soap.

Then fluff the edges of the cuts, for example with a comb.

But it turns out that in order for the holes on jeans to look aesthetically pleasing, there are a lot of nuances ...
Therefore, I bring to your attention several master classes.

Making a hole in jeans with a clerical knife

You will need:

  • Sharp stationery knife,
  • chalk to define the contours of the hole.
  • And a table knife - it should be with a pointed nose, but so dull that they could not cut anything. This can be a table (not a kitchen knife) or a bottle opener.

We draw a contour - the perimeter of the hole. If you are confident in your abilities, you can skip this step.

We cut with a clerical knife transverse strips about 0.5 cm wide within the specified contour. The stripes are transverse, i.e. horizontal, if you imagine that you are wearing jeans.

Here are the stripes you should get:

Now we process each of the resulting stripes as follows. Thus, with a blunt knife, we take out white threads from both edges of the strip, which will remain to cover the finished hole. We take out these threads carefully so that they do not break and push them to the sides.

After you have already got all the possible white threads, you just have to draw out the short blue threads.

And so you need to do with every strip!
And I didn’t say that it would be quick and easy! If you want it quickly and easily - buy yourself some new jeans! :O)

Making a hole in jeans with a kitchen knife

Better to use a knife with an uneven blade. They can cut beautiful holes

Put on denim (jeans, shorts) and, pulling slightly, cut horizontally with a knife, tearing to a state of complete disgrace.
If you do not want to cut on yourself, then put a small cutting board in your leg, put everything together on a table or a large cardboard box, mark with a fabric chalk and, using strong pressure, cut the fabric with a knife.

By the way:
- It is not necessary to use a fabric crayon: you can use a regular ballpoint pen or a simple pencil.
- Replace the cutting board with an old thicker magazine.

At the end of the procedure, you should always wash your pants a couple of times, and - the stylish hardcore is ready!
