Clothes for newborns, which is better. What clothes are needed for a newborn for the first time, and what later

Most often, the size of children's clothing on the tag matches the growth of the child.
The smallest size is 50, then there is an addition of 6 cm (56, 62, 68, etc.).

If you buy clothes from Europe, you can see the following designations on the tags:
0-3 months or 0/3(which corresponds to size 56)
3-6 months or 3/6(this is size 62-68), etc.

The following sizes may be indicated on children's clothes of domestic manufacturers:
18-20 (size 56)
20 (size 62)
22 (size 68) etc.

Sizes of children's hats

The size of hats / caps for children is determined on head circumference.

Sizes of children's socks

The size of the socks is determined along the length of the foot in centimeters.
Usually, babies are born with a foot length of 6-8 cm. On tags with socks, numbers are most often indicated that correspond to the length of a baby's foot, but you can also find the following designations: 0+, 0-3, 3-6.
For newborns, it is better to choose size 0+ (it is about 8 cm), but you can take socks for growth - 0-3 (about 10-12 cm).

What kind of clothes does a baby need for the first time

1. Discharge kit

If you want, buy an elegant envelope (or blanket), but keep in mind that after you check out, most likely, it will only take up space in your closet. But you can buy something that will be useful for walks later on.
Alice was born in August, it was warm, but not very hot anymore. I bought such a set in Daughters, sons , consisting of a fleece envelope bag, a fleece blouse, a hat, an undershirt and sliders.

To him I bought only a cotton cap (under a fleece hat).
The purchase was extremely successful. In this set, we checked out and then walked for almost 2 months. Also, it came in handy later for Faya, who was born in winter, but, of course, we put on this set already as a underwear.

There is also such a modern version of an extract for summer-spring - a beautiful blanket or a thin knitted blanket (now you can even buy an exclusive, handmade). A knitted blanket or blanket will definitely come in handy after you leave (for example, cover your baby in a stroller or in a car).

Faya was born in December. We bought her a Finnish envelope Kerry size 62. We checked out in it, we walked in it all winter and until the end of March, tk. the envelope is about 6 cm larger.
Insulation in an envelope 250 gr. Designed for temperatures from +5 to -25.
We walked in this envelope at -15 with a fleece jumpsuit and did not freeze. They also dressed him in freezing temperatures and never sweated. Lining 100% cotton (velor). There are slots for the car seat.
A very convenient envelope - put the child in, zipped it with 2 zippers and that's it)
Finnish winter clothes are perfect for toddlers!

Discharge option for warm spring, summer: underwear cotton set (undershirt, sliders or, instead, cotton slip), diaper, cap, thin hat, thin plaid (knitted blanket or light envelope).

Statement option for autumn, winter: underwear cotton set (undershirt, sliders or, instead of them, cotton slip), fleece jumpsuit, diaper, bonnet, warm hat, envelope (or blanket).

2. Outerwear for walking

Summer / spring - jumpsuit size 62.
For the summer - from thin velor, in the spring - from fleece with a lining (insulation).
Ideal - with two zippers along the entire length for easy dressing of the baby and folds on the arms and legs.

In winter / autumn - warm winter / autumn overalls or envelope size 62.

3. Beanie

If it is summer, then the thinnest hat, for spring-autumn - a dense knitted one, for winter - warm.
It is better to take caps for newborns with ties so that they fit well on the head and do not slide out.
For the first time, one or two hats are enough. If the baby is born in the middle of summer and it is hot, then you will walk in one cap altogether, a knitted hat will be needed only in case of wind or cold snap.
In winter, it is better to have two hats. For example, we had one thin knitted hat for the weather down to -5, taking into account the fact that there was also a hood on top. And one more warm one with a dense fleece lining for frost.

4. Bonnet

For the summer - thin cotton caps, spring-autumn-winter - from dense knitwear.
It is better to take 2 sizes at once, for example, buy 2 caps 35 sizes and 3 caps 40 sizes.
We wore a bonnet until about three months in such cases:

    • immediately after swimming (but then, about an hour later, we took it off and slept without it, because it was always warm at home)
  • for a walk (in summer - only a bonnet, in autumn and winter - under a hat).

5. Diapers

I did not swaddle either Alice or Fayu. I used diapers in such cases:
- on the changing mattress
- sometimes, put it in the bed instead of a sheet
- at first she laid it on a chaise longue
- took to the clinic
- one diaper hung in the bathroom for a clean wet ass)

For these purposes, 10 diapers were more than enough for us. Usually thin diapers are used, but you can buy a pair of flannel ones as well. If you are planning to swaddle, then, of course, you need to buy more diapers.

6. Anti-scratch gloves- 3 pairs. Choose with a wide elastic band, these will hold better.

7. Thin socks- 4 pairs (2 pairs of small size + 2 for a larger size)

8. Warm socks(fleece or terry) - 1 pair

9. Booties socks - Two pairs. They fix the baby's leg very well and do not fly off, unlike ordinary socks. In addition, they look pretty on a small leg)

10. Bodysuit with long sleeves with buttons along the entire length- 3 pcs. (2 pieces 62 size + 2 pieces 68 size). If you see a body size 62 with closing handles, take them, then you don't have to use anti-scratches. If necessary, the "handles" can be turned off.

But such bodysuits (without buttons along the entire length) are very inconvenient to put on newborns. These bodysuits will come in handy for babies when they start to sit down (at about 6 months), because they can only be worn over the head.

11. Sliders with a wide elastic band- 5 pieces. (2 pieces 62 size + 3 pieces 68 size).

12. Pants (sliders without legs)- 4 things. 68 size. It is also better to take with a wide elastic band.

13. Slips (overalls with buttons along the entire length)- 5 pieces. (2 pieces 56 size, 2 pieces 62 size, 2 pieces 68 size)

14. Sleeping envelope with buttons- 1 PC. (Size 62).

In my experience - the most comfortable clothes for babies up to 3 months old - slip... Slip replaces the undershirt and sliders.

In second place - bodysuit (if hot) + socks or bodysuit + romper (pants) - if it's cool.

Sleeping envelope the first month is very convenient, of course, only for sleep. It is convenient because at night it can be easily and quickly unfastened and fastened (to change the diaper).

Tandem undershirts + sliders are very inconvenient in the sense that undershirts are constantly leaving the sliders and you have to refuel them. We wore undershirts, God forbid, a couple of times to make sure that they play in all the slips and bodysuits. Also, a constantly leaving undershirt and an elastic band from sliders can injure the navel that has not yet healed.

I want to assure you - if you buy enough slips and bodysuits, you simply won't need undershirts.

1. If the child is expected to be large, buy clothes starting from size 62.

Is it possible to determine the size of children's clothing in advance? Some babies are born small with a weight of about 3 kg. and a height of 47-50 cm, while others are very large - more than 4 kg. and a height of 54 cm.
It is only after his birth that you can determine for sure what size of clothes will suit your baby.
But still, even at the stage of pregnancy, the growth of the child can be monitored on an ultrasound scan. A competent doctor will always tell you if the child is large or, conversely, very small in parameters.
I was told on an ultrasound scan with both daughters that they will be small and, most likely, will be born within 3 kg.
The doctors were right - Alice was born 2850 kg. with a height of 50 cm, Faya - 3050 kg. and a height of 49 cm.
I bought a lot of clothes of size 56, but we only had enough for the first month and a half, then everything became small. Moreover, at the same time we wore some clothes and 62 sizes, and it was just right for us.

2. If you are planning to buy clothes of size 56, then take it at a minimum, because if you buy a lot, then you run the risk of not wearing half - clothes of this size very quickly become small.

3. When buying clothes, consider the season (winter, spring, summer or autumn), as well as the air temperature in the apartment. If it is cool at home, then buy bodysuits and slips with long sleeves and give preference to clothes made of denser material.

4. Clothes should be enough- not a lot (because the child grows very quickly in the first months), but also not a little. Usually, newborns do not get dirty, but I had a problem with both daughters for the first 3 months - therefore, it happened that during the day I had to change clothes, and even more than once.

5. Overalls (slips) usually fit in size, and it is better to buy a bodysuit for a size, or even two more... Several size 56 bodysuits were bought from me, and we just didn’t have time to wear them, not yet a month had passed when they became too small for us. But the body size 62 was just right. And all because the length of the body is "eaten" by the diaper.

6. If you plan to buy / order several types of clothing of any brand, first read the reviews about the brand and manufacturer, so as not to be mistaken with the size. Not all brands of clothing fit in size, some brands are larger, while others, on the contrary, are small.

Elena Zhabinskaya

Hello, dear readers, Lena Zhabinskaya is with you!

Having experience with two newborns, and with Eve it is very fresh - she is three months old - born at different times of the year - in spring and autumn - I know exactly what clothes to buy for a newborn for the first time.

For the birth of my first child, Lyovushka, I prepared very thoroughly, buying up everything in stores.

As a result: a bunch of money spent and a mountain of given and discarded things that we never put on.

With Eve, I was already smarter. Everything I bought came in handy, no more, no less. How not to repeat my first mistake? How to buy the best without spending huge sums? Find out in the article.

We are not needed to swaddle a toddler! And in order to be able to put the baby on any surfaces, just spread them under the bottom: on the parent's bed, on the sofa in the living room, in the playpen, in the stroller, in the crib, etc.

This is done, firstly, for reasons of hygiene, as in the case of a sofa in the living room or playpen, and secondly, to reduce washing, as in the case of a baby cot. Obviously, washing a diaper is easier than washing a sheet.

Diapers will get dirty on a regular basis: babies often spit up and flow past the diaper (especially boys).

Therefore, in order not to wash every day, we take 12-15 pieces of diapers.

Choose fabrics made from 100% cotton that are soft and pleasant to the touch.

Not lurid red-blue-green, but calm tones so that they are not striking in the interior, because they will lie everywhere.

Home clothes.

The newborn will spend most of the time at home, so this is the main part of his wardrobe.

If a child is born in the spring or summer, he will need about 4 T-shirts and bodysuits. every.

If it is not hot outside (less than 22 degrees), it is optimal to wear a bodysuit for a walk, in which the tummy is closed, and the baby is warm enough.

If the baby is expected in autumn or winter, when the apartment can be cool (18-20 degrees), cotton overalls or slips in the amount of about 4 pieces are optimal.

They can also be used in cool summers by wearing them on their own or over a T-shirt.

What is the advantage of overalls and slip-ons?

  • they essentially replace two items (sliders and a vest);
  • fewer items - easier to dress and undress your baby;
  • nothing lifts up when you take the little one on the handles or when he moves in the crib;
  • the minimum number of layers of fabric on the diaper, which reduces the likelihood of overtightening, squeezing the delicate baby skin and the appearance of diaper rash (compared to when, for example, wearing a bodysuit with long sleeves and panties romper - it turns out as many as three layers of clothing on the bottom, and she and so hot in the diaper!);
  • if you are on a walk, then the newborn is not blown anywhere.

Warm clothes.

Two overalls or slip: one of them is fleece, the other is warmer, like knitted.

We will use them either as outerwear in cool summer and warm spring and autumn, or as an intermediate one when walking in winter.

An undershirt, which we will wear instead of a sweater, if it is too warm in a fleece overalls, but cool in just one cotton one. One piece will be more than enough.

Outerwear.

We will need it in cold autumn, spring and winter.

A warm envelope with insulation is optimal, because it is as simple as possible to put on.

But in the form of a jumpsuit is also quite suitable.

If you have all autumn, winter and spring ahead of you, then it is optimal to choose a size with a margin, for example, 68, so that it will be enough for the whole season, because at first the children grow very quickly.

Hats and socks.

If the air temperature is above 18 degrees, then the hat is not needed at all.

That is, we do not dress up a newborn in a cap indoors! If in doubt, put on such a cap and try to walk in it around the clock. I doubt you will want to take it off.

If it's less than 18 Celsius outside, then pick up a hat, like yourself, in accordance with the weather conditions. Cotton in the spring and knitted in the winter.

Socks will also be required for the company to the overalls, and not as an independent permanent piece of clothing.

The foot, by its very nature, is programmed to walk in cold weather, so do not spoil the child from birth with woolen socks at plus 25 Celsius.

That is, we don't need socks indoors either.

How many hats and socks do you need? 2-3 pieces of different heat.

So little, because they practically do not get dirty and do not need regular washing.

Mittens.

Usually envelopes and overalls for babies have special closures on their hands, so gloves are not required at all.

But if suddenly your overalls do not have such a function, you can purchase mittens for cold weather and very warm winter ones.

The size.

Which to choose? The smallest size is considered to be 56 - it corresponds to a height of 56 cm.Most newborns are already 50-55 cm at birth.

Therefore, they can wear this size for a maximum of a couple of weeks.

My children were born with a height of 56 and 57 cm. Much of what was given to us immediately after birth was not enough.

It is also better to choose outerwear at least 62 sizes or even more if you plan to wear it for more than 6 months (for example, you are born in October, and it will be warm only in May).

What you shouldn't buy.

Now is a short overview of useless things that I threw away mountains the first time and did not even buy the second.

Long sleeve bodysuit.

A strange piece of clothing: under what conditions do you want to wrap the baby on top, and at the same time leave the legs naked? If it's cool, then it's more logical to put on a jumpsuit or a slip, in which both the arms and legs will be closed.

If you plan to wear a bodysuit on top and pants on the bottom, then we get a bunch of extra layers of fabric on the bottom, which is already hot in a diaper.

Sliders.

Why wear fabric on your legs, but at the same time leave your chest and shoulders bare?

If you plan to wear a vest or bodysuit on top, then this is again a bunch of extra layers in general and on the priest in particular.

It is more logical again to have a jumpsuit or a slip.

Booties.

The newborn does not need any shoes because he cannot walk. If it's cold, then warm socks will do the job.

Scratches.

Defectologists are sounding the alarm because it has been scientifically proven that they can inhibit the development of a baby, for example, the skill of grasping objects, exclude the baby from receiving tactile sensations, which together can lead to a lag in early development.

What should you do instead? Forget about scratches, cut your toddler's nails and not be afraid of scratches.

It was the minimum optimal set of clothes. Along the way, you yourself will understand what is convenient for you and what is not, and in the future you will be able to acquire things according to your personal needs.

If the information was useful, save it to yourself in social networks so as not to lose it and subscribe to blog updates.

Lena Zhabinskaya was with you, bye-bye!

While expecting a baby, every expectant mother thinks about what things the baby will need in the hospital and in the first days after discharge. By compiling detailed lists of such things, you can spend more rationally and not be afraid to forget about something.

However, after seeing huge lists of necessary things on the Internet or from familiar mothers, you should not immediately buy all the same.

First of all, your list should be individual. When compiling it, consider the following nuances:

  • The best time to make a list of things is called the second trimester. In the last weeks of gestation, a situation may arise when you have to buy everything in a hurry, which will have a bad effect on the mood of the expectant mother and on the family budget.
  • When choosing things for a baby, consider your financial condition, but do not skimp on quality. Better to keep things small, but they will be safe and reliable.
  • Some of the upcoming purchases can be entrusted to relatives, because we have accepted gifts for newborns. There is no need to be shy, but it is better to immediately inform your relatives and friends what things you need, than to put in the closet after childbirth the same suits and sets of rattles that the little one will not need.
  • When making your list, also consider things that may be inherited from family and friends. When children grow up, their old things are often passed on to young mothers, and this opportunity should not be neglected. Especially when it comes to such large purchases as a stroller, car seat, crib, changing table and others.
  • Be rational and list only the essentials for your newborn. Do not buy in advance what you will need later, and you will always have time to buy in addition.

Many moms consider the buying process one of the most enjoyable things.

Mandatory purchases for the birth of a baby

After viewing other people's lists and recommendations, all expectant mothers will have their own list, but almost each of them will include the following items:

  • Stroller;
  • Crib;
  • Mattress;
  • Linens;
  • Bath;
  • Car seat (if parents have a car).

Pay close attention to the choice of these items, focusing on quality and safety for the newborn baby.

For information on what to consider when choosing a mattress, see the program of Dr. Komarovsky.

What to take for a child in a maternity hospital?

During your stay in the hospital for the baby, you should take the following things:

  1. Clothing. The list of clothes you need should be checked in your maternity hospital, since in some medical institutions, babies are dressed only in sterilized clothes that are given to mothers.
  2. Care products. Take diapers (smallest), wet wipes, powder, cotton wool, baby soap, and baby cream.
  3. Things to check out. Your outfit may include a slim jumpsuit, socks, a beanie, and an envelope.

It is worth checking the list of necessary things for discharge in the maternity hospital

Dream

Since in the first month of life the baby sleeps most of the day, things that provide him with comfort during sleep are very important. Prepare for the baby:

  • Bed. Let it be made of wood and covered with baby-safe varnish (water-based). A model with at least two bottom levels and sloping sides is preferable.
  • Mattress. It must have sufficient rigidity and fully match the size of the crib (fit snugly against its walls). Spring mattresses are more suitable for babies, since their rigidity is higher.
  • Bumper. Such a soft device is placed around the perimeter of the bed and is designed to protect the baby from impacts against the walls and drafts.
  • Linens. Immediately prepare 2 sets for the baby, including a duvet cover and a sheet. However, bed sheets can be replaced at first with large diapers.
  • Blanket. In buying it, be guided by the season, since there are summer and winter, as well as demi-season options. Many modern mothers prefer buying a sleeping bag. It is also worth additionally purchasing a high-quality small blanket.
  • Oilcloth. Some mothers buy an oilcloth with an elastic band and fit the mattress, while others find it more convenient to use disposable diapers.
  • Night light. Although this thing cannot be called the most necessary, it is much more convenient with it to approach the baby at night and organize night feedings.
  • Mobile in the crib. It can be electronic or mechanical and can have various additional functions, for example, a backlight.

Some mothers additionally purchase a separate cradle for the newborn and use it up to 3-4 months of age. You can also buy a canopy for the crib, but this thing is not considered important, so its use depends only on the wishes of the mother.

Nutrition

Every expectant mother should tune in to breastfeeding the baby after giving birth, so you can prepare special nursing bras for childbirth, although you can do just fine with regular bras. Absorbent breast pads will also do the trick.

Do not rush to buy teas stimulating lactation, many mothers do well without them. And a breast pump, if you plan to leave your baby for a while, can be purchased in advance.

However, even those who wish to breastfeed are advised to purchase one or two bottles, for example, to give the baby water in hot weather or to take expressed milk with them to the clinic.

If necessary, the expectant mother should purchase special containers for storing breast milk. The milk expressed in them can be stored in the refrigerator and frozen.

Also, many young mothers speak positively about the purchase of a special nursing pillow.

A special pillow can make it easier to feed your baby, but this purchase is not necessary at all

In addition to the formula, the baby on artificial feeding will need to purchase:

  • 3-5 bottles
  • Bottle nipples
  • Measuring spoon
  • Sterilizer
  • Funnel made of plastic
  • Heater as well as a thermos
  • Brush and bottle cleaner

Bathing

Another important procedure for a newborn toddler is bathing. You should prepare the baby for the birth:

  • Bath. It is imperative to bathe the baby in it until the umbilical wound heals, and after that you can carry out water procedures in a regular bath. Accessories can be attached to the bathtub that hold the baby (slide, hammock) and free mother's hands.
  • Thermometer. Before lowering the toddler into the water, be sure to measure its temperature.
  • Terry towel. Buy a large, soft towel. A product with a hood is very comfortable.
  • Soft terry mitt for washing delicate baby skin.

The first time a child should be bathed in boiled water.

How the process of bathing a child should go, see the program of Dr. Komarovsky.

Walk

Already from the first days of life, depending on the weather, the newborn is recommended to be taken out into the fresh air. For walks with a baby, you need a stroller. Pay enough attention to her choice, not forgetting about such nuances as the weight of the product, as well as the size of your elevator. Usually they buy a mattress, a bag, a raincoat, a cover, a net for a stroller - these accessories are often sold together with a stroller.

Choosing a stroller is not an easy task. For information on what to look for when choosing a stroller, see Dr. Komarovsky's program.

Many pregnant women decide to purchase a sling for walking. This is a popular alternative to the stroller now, just like the ergo backpack. Also, if desired, the expectant mother can purchase a bag for carrying the baby, with which you can go to the clinic or store.

Care

The delicate skin of a newborn baby needs special care. After you are discharged, your home should have:

  • Cotton pads.
  • Wet wipes for babies.
  • Baby soap.
  • Powder.
  • Baby oil.
  • Baby cream.
  • Cotton buds.
  • Diaper cream that helps with irritation.
  • Manicure set for baby.
  • Comb.

For the key points in caring for a newborn baby, see the next video.

First aid kit

clothing

When choosing things for a newborn baby, follow these recommendations:

  • Don't buy a lot of size 56 items, as newborns grow quite quickly and many babies are born large.
  • Consider the time of year your baby was born. In the summer, you will need fewer clothes, and for the crumbs that are born in the winter, you need a lot more things.
  • It is a good idea to make a list of the things you need and buy only half of what you need from it. Gradually, you will understand which clothes are more convenient to use, and buy the remaining wardrobe items.
  • Pay attention to the quality of your clothing. Many cheap things lose their shape and deteriorate after one or two washings.
  • Try not to buy things for a newborn that need to be worn over the head.
  • The best fasteners for young mothers are buttons. Try to avoid items with buttons and ties.

Buy clothes for babies made from natural fabrics

For the first wardrobe of a newborn baby, it is enough to purchase:

  • 3-4 bodysuits with different sleeve lengths;
  • 3-4 warm undershirts plus the same number of thin ones (you can replace them with blouses with buttons);
  • 5 thin sliders and 2-3 pairs of warm ones (if the baby was born in a cold season, warm sliders are bought in larger quantities);
  • 1-2 warm slips and 2-3 thin ones;
  • 1 fleece jumpsuit;
  • 2 warm caps and 2-3 thin ones;
  • 1-2 pairs of warm and thin socks;
  • 2-3 terry cloth bibs;
  • 1 pair of anti-scratches;
  • 1 hat - demi-season or winter;
  • 1 jumpsuit for walking - demi-season or winter.

First of all, moms usually think about what is needed for a newborn from clothes. After all, each of them wants her baby to look the most beautiful of all. But beauty is not the main thing here. Much more important is the quality of clothing and its practicality. In order for a mother-to-be to decide what clothes a newborn needs, it is important for her to remember the following details: - clothes should not be the smallest. After all, it is not known how tall and weighing the baby will be born. Better to play it safe and buy medium-sized clothes for your child. The main thing is that she should not embarrass the baby. - it is also important to pay attention to the material. Preference should be given to cotton products. - you should not buy a lot of clothes of the same size for a newborn. After all, children grow quickly, and after 2-3 weeks the baby may no longer fit that little undershirt that was great for him immediately after birth. So, what does a newborn baby need from clothes? List:

  • 5-6 thin diapers,
    5-6 warm diapers,
    4 thin undershirts,
    4 warm undershirts,
    2 bodysuits 2-3 knitted blouses,
    6-8 sliders,
    2 pairs of plain socks,
    2 pairs of booties,
    3-4 thin cotton hats,
    1-2 warm hats,
    2 pairs of anti-scratches,
    2-3 bibs.

A jumpsuit will be required for discharge. It is clear that the child will need to wear a winter overalls in winter, and a light one will do in the warm season. In general, an envelope for newborns is best suited for discharge, but now many mothers want to dress babies "in an adult way." You will also need a pair of suits, lightweight and warm. This is all that a newborn needs from clothes. In addition, the child needs to prepare: disposable and reusable diapers, a sleeping bag, warm and light blankets, bedding, small and large towels. Now let's talk about what a mother will need when caring for a newborn. The first time the baby will be looked after by the hospital staff, so there is no great need to take all the prepared things with you. But you need to prepare everything in advance. So, let's move on to the list.

Baby Care List

  • Bath and bucket for bathing and rinsing.
    Thermometers for measuring water temperature.
    Bathing detergents.
    Hair brush.
    Scissors.
    Baby cream.
    Baby powder.
    Vaseline oil .
    Cotton wool, cotton swabs, tampons.
    Wet wipes.
    Oilcloth on the mattress.
    Means for washing children's clothes.
    Baby feeding supplies - bottles, nipples, attachments, breast pump, pacifier.

The so-called pharmaceutical supplies are of great importance. At first, the child will need to treat the umbilical wound, bathe in infusions of medicinal plants. In general, mom will not be able to do without a first-aid kit for newborns. So, let's list what necessary things for a newborn should be in the first-aid kit:

  • Zelenka, hydrogen peroxide(3%), potassium permanganate, furacilin, iodine.
    Pipette (2 pieces).
    Bathing herbs.
    Thermometer.
    Aspirator (nozzle suction).
    Sterile bandage, adhesive plaster.
    Gas outlet tube.
    Enema.
    Antipyretic drugs.
    Remedies for colic (dill water, "Espumisan", etc.).
    Ointment for diaper rash ("Bepanten").
    Warmer.

So, we have listed what you need to buy for a newborn. This is all that mom and baby will need right after birth. But not all of these things need to be taken with you to the hospital. Now let's try to make a list of what is needed for a newborn and his mother in the postpartum ward. As already mentioned, the main care for the child in the first days after childbirth is provided by doctors and nannies. But they only comply with medical prescriptions. Otherwise, only the mother will have to take care of the child.

What does a newborn need in a maternity hospital?

  • 4-6 diapers.
    2-4 undershirts.
    2 bodysuits.
    2-4 sliders.
    2-3 caps.
    1-2 pairs of anti-scratches.
    2 pairs of socks.
    Blanket.
    Disposable diapers.

All this must be taken with you. And what necessary things for a newborn can relatives bring to the hospital after childbirth? These include: clothes for discharge, wet wipes, cotton wool for flagella, a bottle with a pacifier, a pacifier, a breast pump, rattles. The child will not need anything from medicines, unless the doctor prescribes. But for mommy it will be possible to bring: postpartum bandage, cream for nipple cracks, lactation products, hygiene products, cosmetics, etc. Now any future mommy will know what is needed for a newborn. A list of things, both for the child and for herself, the mother needs to make up a month or two before giving birth. After all, they can happen at any time, and there may not be time for the training camp. And the future dad or relatives may not buy exactly what they need. Therefore, in order not to get upset, you need to prepare for childbirth in advance. Finally, I would like to note that when preparing things for an unborn child, it is important to take what is really needed for a newborn child. Many expectant mothers want to buy everything at once. Special baby bodysuits are very popular among modern mothers. For the summer, bodysuits with short sleeves, bodysuits - T-shirts, bodysuits with long sleeves are useful. It is better to purchase 2-3 varieties of each body for a change. The most inconvenient are models that need to be worn over the head. They quickly stretch out in the area of the neckline, and babies do not really like this method of putting on. Undershirts are a more common type of clothing for babies. Made of cotton, they perfectly absorb moisture and do not irritate baby's delicate skin. The main condition when buying cotton undershirts is the absence of strings, buttons and buttons, that is, any details that can rub the baby's skin. It is better to take sliders on shoulder straps. It will be enough to purchase 4 pairs of thin pants, and 4 pairs of warm ones.
Another practical and very popular thing in children's wardrobe is overalls or so-called slips. They are also light and warm. Three light ones and two warm ones will be enough.
Despite the rather hot summer weather, the baby cannot do without light cotton socks. They can be purchased in the amount of 2-3 pairs.
The cap will protect the child's head from the sun and wind. For a change, you can buy 2 - 3 light caps.

Regardless of the time of year when the baby was born, all those things that were listed above will certainly come in handy. That is, the same undershirts can be replenished with a pair of insulated fleece models, which will be very useful in winter and on cool autumn days.

Diapers are also an important part of a toddler's wardrobe. If new parents adhere to the swaddling tradition, they will have to acquire several flannel and cotton swaddling clothes. Tips for choosing clothes for a newborn

Baby's delicate skin is especially sensitive to external adverse factors. To protect it from irritation, it is necessary to give preference to clothing made from natural fabrics. As a rule, flannel, terry, cotton, satin stitch and interlock are used for its production. Any item of clothing should fit loosely enough on the baby and not be too tight on the body.

All those clothes that come in direct contact with the baby's skin must have external seams. Their arrangement saves the skin from irritation and chafing. The rest of the garments may have traditional inner seams, but must be finished with 100% cotton thread.

When buying things with an elastic band, in particular pants, you need to pay attention to its size and tightness. Models with a thick and not tight elastic band will give the baby a minimum of discomfort.

It is worth buying only from trusted sellers and manufacturers. When choosing Chinese clothing, pay attention to the presence of a specific chemical smell. Many cheap items can be manufactured without adhering to certain safety standards.

You should not immediately dress your child in everything colorful and bright. In the first months of life, it is better to give preference to clothes in gentle pastel colors. Delicate coloring has a beneficial effect not only on the psyche of the child, but also on the condition of his skin and well-being in general.

If the parents nevertheless decided to purchase several bright sets for the exit, you should definitely pay attention to the paint with which the fabric is dyed. Any low-quality dye will start to wash out from the very first wash and can harm the baby.

Statement envelopes and more

Such a popular device is used for swaddling a baby during discharge from the hospital. Today, the variety of statement envelopes is not limited to the standard rectangular blanket. They differ in color, thickness, decor and even the way the baby is swaddled. The envelope is a very practical piece of baby's wardrobe. In winter, it can successfully replace the role of overalls.

But the main advantage of the envelope is the possibility of its further use as a blanket for the baby. Thick envelopes turn into a good winter blanket, summer ones are perfect for hot summer nights. Warm winter envelopes are presented in various knitted models, models with fur and fleece.

Just like ordinary clothes, the envelope should have well-finished seams, a minimum of fasteners and a pleasant color.

Traditionally, envelopes of light blue, pale pink, light green, beige and white colors are chosen for the statement.

Modern manufacturers offer customers interesting models of envelopes, in which the top is sewn in the form of a warm blouse with sleeves. That is, in such an envelope, the baby has the opportunity to freely move the handles. The bottom of such models usually has a baggy shape, which provides maximum freedom for the baby's legs. This innovation is called "footer".

How to care for a newborn's clothes

All baby's things must be washed as often as possible, using special baby soap or powder for this. In this case, washing should be carried out using sufficiently hot water, at a temperature of about 90 degrees.

Use of softening conditioner is acceptable. The conditioner must also be child-friendly and have a chemical composition that is safe for the baby. All washed and dried items are carefully ironed. Ironing helps not only to make things look neat, but also to kill bacteria remaining in the fibers. Before you start wearing all things, you need to get rid of tags and labels. Their contact with delicate skin can cause irritation.

"Dowry" for a newborn

In addition to clothes, the baby and parents will need a lot of other things at first. For a comfortable sleep, a newborn will need a cot. It is worth giving priority to models made of natural wood species. Modern models are equipped with the function of adjusting the sides, which makes the crib even more comfortable in the process of use. Very often they are additionally equipped with cradles, protective silicone pads, boxes for laundry and toys.

The mattress is matched to the size of the bed. Children under 1 year old are recommended to sleep on hard spring mattresses; after a year, the child can be moved to a softer surface. Crib bumpers are also required. They make the crumbs' time in the crib safe and comfortable.

Children under one year old sleep on pillows. However, you can purchase a small pillow or roller to place under your child's back while sleeping on their side. You can buy more sheets, especially if you plan to leave your baby in the crib for so-called air baths.

The canopy, which is so popular today, is not a basic necessity for a newborn, but rather a decorative element that gives the room additional comfort. He has no practical advantages, and on the contrary, collects dust and can accidentally fall on the child and harm him.

For walks in the fresh air, you will need a stroller, to which you can additionally purchase a mattress, mosquito net, raincoat, foot cover.

Additional electronic devices in the form of scales will help monitor weight gain in the first few months of a baby's life. Owners of a large living space will certainly come in handy with a radio nanny. With her help, the mother will be able to respond to the baby's call in time.
