Metallic leather shoes. Metallic leather. "Metallic leather" in books

They entered the list of fashion trends last spring, and in the summer they additionally strengthened their position there. In the warm season, designers suggested fashionistas to focus on shoes - oxfords, classic pumps, brogues, ballet flats, and sandals, casting a cold metallic sheen, appeared in new collections of almost every shoe brand. In autumn, the metallic becomes a little darker and more muted, but still does not give up its positions.

The new autumn collection of the Canadian brand ALDO was also no exception - the brand included oxfords in the list of new products, made in three colors, brown, black and the notorious metallic color. We decided to test the last model.

Metallic leather oxfords - ALDO, 5977 rubles / $ 181

I admit - I really love oxfords and brogues, and especially the way they look with cropped black skinny and leather things. In addition, these shoes are quite versatile - they can be worn for almost three out of four seasons and can be easily combined with skirts and dresses, as well as with trousers. Well, metallic oxfords will perfectly fit into a variety of styles. For example, I immediately imagined how to create several looks with a grungy touch (this style will definitely be my favorite in the cold season).

Advantages and disadvantages. First, I'll tell you about the disadvantages, because, given them from the first day of wearing ALDO oxfords, you will not repeat my very painful mistakes in the literal sense of the word.

When buying "silver" or "gold" brogues or oxfords, remember about the peculiarities of metallized leather - it is characterized by increased density and rigidity. Therefore, it will take a little longer to wear out the new thing (however, no one has canceled the existence of happy people who are not aware of the problem of corns). I, having tried on Oxfords in the brand's store, recklessly forgot about this important detail and put them on the next day for shooting for the "Best Image" column. It should be noted here that during shooting (from 10 am to 5 pm) I rarely manage to sit down more than a couple of times for a couple of minutes. In general, as you already understood, I rubbed my legs a lot. So the main rule when buying shoes made of metallized leather is in the first days, when you are just wearing your brand new pair, take preventive measures (we told you in detail about how to prevent the appearance of calluses on the website in the spring).

In the case of metallic shoes, it is important not to overload the image: a combination of such oxfords with a total black look or, for example, with a simple gray T-shirt, leather skirt and large metal jewelry (a necklace and a ring will be enough)

In general, this is where the disadvantages of my Oxfords end. But the undoubted advantages begin - after wearing, they become surprisingly convenient and ready for daily "use". By the way, a nice little thing for those who like to put on the first available clothes in the morning and run to work - such boots can revive even a banal total black look or a duet of simple gray and the aforementioned skinny black jeans. In addition, I am very pleased that my metallic was not like chocolate foil - the shade of ALDO Oxfords most of all resembles blackened silver. It looks really beautiful, even when walking and in the photo.

What to wear with. It is really important here not to overdo it, not to oversalt and not to overspice it - oxfords made of metallic leather are extremely self-sufficient, so you should not combine them with excessively bright or flashy colors, things with an excess of shine (you risk turning into a New Year tree sooner than worth it) and too complex prints , which distinguishes both the top and bottom of your look.

Metallic leather oxfords - ALDO, 5977 rubles / $ 181; trousers - Étoile Isabel Marant, 8390 rubles / $ 254; wrist watch - Michael Kors, 9045 rubles / $ 275; pendant - Givenchy, 22,370 rubles / $ 680; acrylic pullover - Wildfox, 10,490 rubles / $ 318; silver earrings - Karolina Bik, 3620 rubles / $ 110; envelope bag - Pineider, 13 815 rubles / $ 420; polyester top - LNA, 2005 rubles / $ 60; fedora hat - Maison Michel, 19 975 RUB / $ 606

Personally, what I liked the most was wearing oxfords with a steel-colored T-shirt, leather skirt and metal decorations (large chains are great). But the thing looks no less successful with “boyfriend's” jeans, to which you can wear a thin chiffon blouse a la boho-chic and. It is not forbidden to mix metallized oxfords with shiny things (for example, with shorts with pastel sequins), but in this case, the most simple and basic thing, like a shortened white, should certainly serve as a top.

Metallic leather oxfords - ALDO, 5977 rubles / $ 181; leather tote bag - See by Chloé, 16 405 rubles / $ 497; leather vest - Veda, 17 360 rubles / $ 527; cocktail ring - Emilio Pucci, price on request; metal necklace - Religion, 1185 rubles / $ 35; polyester dress - Oasis, 2570 rubles / $ 78; sunglasses - Oliver Peoples for Maison Kitsune Paris, 14 805 RUB / $ 450

And finally. If you like Oxfords or any other shoes with a metallic effect, but you are still afraid that this is too bright and defiant thing, take my word for it - with the right combination of things (again, nothing flashy on top) such shoes can become difficult ideal shoes for going to a party or a holiday, but also your faithful friend for every day.

SECTION VIII. Raw hides and skins, leather, natural fur and articles thereof; saddlery and harness; travel accessories, handbags and similar items; products from animal intestines (except silkworm fibroin fiber)Raw hides and skins (excluding natural fur) and dressed leatherSuede (including combined suede); patent leather and laminated patent leather; metallized leather:- patent leather and laminated patent leather; metallized leatherExplanations

4114 - Suede (including combined suede); patent leather and laminated patent leather; metallized leather

(I) Suede (including combination suede)

Suede is tanned and finished by repeated processing of the leather with fish or animal oil, after which it is dried by heating or in the air and washed in alcohol to remove excess fat. The surface can then be scrubbed and sanded with a pumice stone or other abrasive. The leather usually treated in this way is made from split leather from sheep or lamb, from which roughness is removed.

Suede is soft, yellow (except dyed) and can be washed. It is widely used for the manufacture of gloves, washable leather products, etc., and the skins of large animals (adult deer, etc.), processed in the same way, are used for the manufacture of garments, harnesses and for some industrial purposes.

Suede made from fat alone as described above is sometimes known as fat-only suede.

Washable white leather, which has similar characteristics to yellow suede, is obtained by partial formaldehyde tanning followed by fat tanning as described above, known as combination suede. The heading also covers this type of leather, but not other types of washable leather (for example, aluminum or formaldehyde tanned leather) or leather "impregnated" with fat after final tanning by another process.

Patent leather and laminated patent leather; metallized leather

This grouping of goods includes:

(1) Patent leather, which is leather covered with gloss or varnish, or a preformed sheet of plastic and which has a mirror-like surface.

The applied varnish coatings can be pigmented or not pigmented and are based on:

(a) vegetable coloring oil (usually linseed oil);

(b) cellulose derivatives (eg nitrocellulose);

(c) synthetic products (thermoplastic or not), mainly polyurethanes.

The preformed plastic sheet that covers the leather is usually made of polyurethane or poly (vinyl chloride).

The surface of the goods of this grouping does not need to be leveled. It can be embossed to imitate certain types of leather (crocodiles, lizards, etc.), or artificially compressed, granulated or destroyed. However, at the same time, it must maintain a mirror-shiny surface.

The thickness of the covering sheet does not exceed 0.15 mm.

This group also includes leather coated with paint or varnish containing inclusions (mica, silicon and the like) for imparting a metallic sheen to a binder, for example, plastic or vegetable drying fat ("imitation metallized leather").

(2) Lacquered laminated leather is also known as lacquered leather, in which the leather is covered with a preformed sheet of plastic with a thickness of more than 0.15 mm but less than half of its total thickness, and has a mirror-like shiny appearance of patent leather.

(Leather covered with a preformed plastic sheet with a thickness of more than 0.15 mm, which is more than half of its total thickness, is classified in the group.)

(3) Metallized leather is leather covered with a metal powder or metal sheet (for example, silver, gold, bronze or aluminum).

This heading, however, does not include composite leather, lacquered or metallized (heading).

Crafted animal skin is usually divided into smooth and pile skin.

Smooth skin types

Nappa

the most common and wearable type of leather with a smooth, shiny surface. This leather is quite moisture resistant, not susceptible to dirt.

Aniline

always matt, as its surface is not covered with a protective varnish. This skin is easily penetrated by dirt and moisture and is difficult to remove.

Semianiline

leather also belongs to the smooth types of leather - it is a cross between nappa and aniline leather.

Types of pile leather

Velours

depending on the processing technology, it can be both soft and thin, and hard and thick.

Suede leather

it is a soft material characterized by an almost invisible velvety pile.

Nappalan

used for sewing dresses, shirts and similar items and is a dyed very thin velor. For the quality of the skin, the procedure for processing the skin is of great importance.

Pigskin

With tiny nicks on the surface (due to the bristles), it is ideal for clothing, including the top. Lightweight but not too warm, significantly more affordable than other leathers.

Rough skin

Suede and nubuck fit this definition. Suede is the seamy side of regular leather, while nubuck is obtained by abrading the surface of the leather to make it slightly rough. The typical sign of this type of skin is a velvety surface. It is soft and warm to the touch.

Printed leather

A more affordable alternative to precious reptile skin is printed smooth fair skin. Of course, any prints can be applied to its surface, including floral prints.

Smooth skin

Also called nappa leather. The obverse, with tiny grooves, is the top side of the hide. Pigmented smooth skin undergoes coloring as well as impregnation, which makes it harder. When treated with aniline dyes, smooth leather is not impregnated, so it remains more elastic, but at the same time less durable.

Embossed leather

In most cases, using a roller or stamp, the leather is embossed to match the pattern of crocodile or ostrich leather. Often, even experts are unable to distinguish with the naked eye natural leather, for example, a crocodile, from its imitation. In addition to embossing, leather can be dyed.

Fish skin

This exclusive type of leather is used mainly in the world of high fashion. This is the skin of a striped catfish, shark, salmon, carp, cod, sturgeon or stingray. A fine pearl structure is typical for such leather. Fish skin is thinner than any other, highly elastic and extremely durable.

Metallic leather, or "metallic"

It is a smooth leather with a shiny, metal-like surface due to its coating with a metal film. It is also possible to add metallic "dust" when impregnating leather.

Ostrich skin

Differs in typical "bumps" on the surface. Moreover, the greater the distance between the cones, the older the bird was. The leather is very soft and durable. It is mainly used for sewing expensive bags and belts.

Patent leather

To get shiny patent leather, completely smooth leather is covered with a layer of varnish or a mirror-smooth film. It is an excellent material for making shoes, wallets, handbags, belts and other accessories. Once stained leather is stained, simply wipe it off with regular furniture polish.
  • Clothes made of nubuck, suede and velor should be dry-cleaned from time to time with a toning or color restoration operation.
  • Moisture does not work well on suede and velor, so it is better not to get into the rain in such products. But if such a misfortune occurs, shake the product and dry it on a hanger without additional heat exposure.
  • In places of strong friction, the paint on leather products is erased, especially on products made of thin and soft to the touch (kid) leather. Special care creams can help here. However, creams should not be used on pile products and on skin without a protective surface.
  • On smooth skin, dirt can be easily removed with a soapy foam or a damp cloth, avoiding blotting through.
  • Aniline skin should not be treated with cream, but after purchase it should be treated with preservatives immediately. Oily spots on such skin are painted over with chalk, and then wiped with a dry cloth.
  • Nappalan is a very sensitive material that requires careful handling, so you will have to wear items made of it with extreme care to avoid dry cleaning.
