Autumn is a time that inspires us to be creative. The tradition of decorating houses with beautiful wreaths exists in many countries. Usually, such decor is made for the Christmas holidays in order to bring an elegant and bright element into the interior. They are also popular, which, as a rule, decorate doors or walls in the corridor. For their manufacture, flowers, fallen leaves, cones are used. Unusual decor instantly transforms the space, giving it seasonal color and romance. Autumn wreaths can also be used as decorations for festive events: weddings, anniversaries or friendly parties.

If you like these accessories, you can make them yourself. Today we will tell you how to make an autumn wreath from the materials that are found in every home - wrapping paper, bags, old books and newspapers.

A wreath of paper bags.

To work, you will need the following:

  • base circle,
  • several paper bags or a small roll of wrapping paper,
  • glue gun,
  • autumn decorations (acorns, leaves, cones, artificial or dried flowers).

1. In our case, a ready-made foam rubber circle is used as the basis for the wreath. Such a blank can be made independently by fixing the ends of a roller of a suitable size with glue so that the desired shape is obtained. Another option involves the use of foam rubber or synthetic winterizer in a roll, which should be tightly rolled up and fixed with threads. The base can also be made from a rolled thick towel or straw wrapped in cling film. As a last resort, you can always use an ordinary swimming ring for children.

2. Now you need to prepare the paper for further manipulations. Cut off the handles from the bags and separate the bottom and sides so that you get a solid sheet. Cut the same strips of paper about 2.5 centimeters wide and twist them into thin flagella.

3. Heat the glue in the gun and use it to carefully attach the paper strips to the foam circle. Your task is to fix the harnesses as tightly as possible, but aesthetically, so that the base is not visible anywhere.

4. When the wreath is ready, decorate it with autumn decor of your choice using the same hot glue gun.
Ready! It remains only to make a comfortable pendant from a beautiful ribbon or fabric.

Newspaper wreath.

For this project you will need:

  • base circle,
  • newspapers or book pages,
  • colored paper or scrapbooking paper
  • glue gun,
  • pencil.

1. From newsprint or, preferably, thick book pages, cut out the same round blanks with carved edges, resembling a flower. The same patterned patterns should be made from colored paper. Please note that for the fall wreath, you will need colored paper or scrapbooking paper in a yellow-burgundy color scheme. Using a pencil, give each blank a three-dimensional shape.

2. Using a glue gun, fix the blanks on the base circle, pressing them firmly with a pencil for better fixation.

3. Paste the whole circle with rows of paper “flowers”, alternating color and newspaper blanks, to get an interesting decor with an autumnal character.

4. The finished wreath can be decorated with a beautiful banner. To make it, use thick paper with a suitable pattern. Cut out a wide strip from it, figuratively shaping the edges, and fold the workpiece as shown in the photo below.

5. To put an inscription on the banner, cut out the letters from thick paper, oilcloth or any other suitable material, and glue them.

6. Fix the finished banner on the wreath with a glue gun.

You can also decorate a Halloween wreath in the same way, simply by adding a suitable inscription and a few frightening elements.

You can make an autumn wreath out of paper in another way. Just cover the base circle with decorative paper tape and complete the composition with autumn accessories or decorate the wreath with paper leaves cut from newsprint or colored paper.

Experiment with the design options to create your own unique design for this beautiful piece of jewelry.

In autumn, the abundance of bright yellow and red autumn leaves is simply amazing. The maple leaves in particular fascinate me. Their shape and size simply whisper: “Oh, what a wreath of leaves we will make!”. And it's true, making a beautiful autumn wreath of maple leaves is very pleasant, and moreover, this is the cheapest craft. It is made from what is at hand. The so-called improvised materials.

Of course, there are other options on how to make a wreath of leaves, which uses a voluminous base for a wreath and many decorative elements - twigs, ribbons, berries ... But, now I will tell you how to make a wreath for autumn in kindergarten. You make it, you take it to the kindergarten and it’s not a pity that it stayed there.

What you need to make an autumn wreath of leaves crafts for the garden:

  • beautiful large maple leaves,
  • a large sheet of cardboard, you can pack to create the base of a wreath,
  • glue - gun or any other good glue,
  • iron,
  • hair spray.

How to make a wreath of leaves

We collect maple leaves in the park. The more there are, the better. Try to collect colorful autumn leaves of different sizes, both large and small. You can take a few simple autumn leaves, not maple for a change. Also collect green leaves.

Next, the leaves must be dried. This can be done by placing them between the pages of books, or you can iron them, so they dry faster and do not curl. After ironing the maple leaf, spray it with hairspray to keep it from crumbling. You can also dip the leaves in wax and then dry them, then they will definitely not crumble.

Now we take a sheet of cardboard and cut out a circle from it, which will be the basis of the wreath. I recommend making the base wide and large enough, then the wreath will look better on the door.

On the base, we begin to stick the prepared leaves overlapping each other, quite tightly, so that it turns out beautifully. Leaves should look in different directions, both inward and outward. Glue the inside of the sheet up as they curl inwards. Then, when twisting the leaves, your leaf wreath craft will become more voluminous.

When you're done making your fall wreath crafts, spritz it with hairspray to keep the leaves from falling off.

No less beautiful is the autumn wreath and mountain ash. It is both autumn and winter, New Year's. To make a wreath of cones with your own hands, you will need a more powerful base (you can make it from packing cardboard or buy it from foam) and a glue gun. The bumps will stick only to the glue gun.

With the advent of autumn, yellow-red carpets made of fallen leaves and flowers are spread in city parks, squares and in the forest. The leaves collected in the park are an excellent material for creating various compositions, fakes and paintings that can serve as an excellent gift or become an element of decor in any room. Bright autumn leaves pair well with dry flowers, cones, dried berries and fruits, acorns, twigs and other decorative details, allowing you to make unique design arrangements.
Decorative wreaths made from autumn leaves are a bright and spectacular design element that is usually placed on walls, doors, near vases and candlesticks. Such wreaths are made both from leaves of the same type and color, and from different leaves - a combined method. Wreaths look especially good, on which there are as many different elements as possible: cones, wheat ears, acorns, many small leaves and branches, and at the end red clusters of mountain ash and decorative pumpkins or apples are attached.

To create an autumn wreath of leaves on the door, you must first prepare the following materials: twigs from bushes, trees or vines, dry yellow and red leaves, viburnum clusters, dried physalis, glue gun, scissors, twine, gold threads and decorative birds for decor. In handicraft stores, you can often find ready-made bases for creating decorative wreaths, but everyone can easily find everything they need in the nearest park without spending extra money;

After all the materials are selected, you should proceed to the creation of the wreath itself. The first step is to twist a wreath from the prepared branches. The process is quite simple: the branches are collected in an armful and gradually tied with twine, trying to form a circle or an oval. Small sticking branches can be left, this will give the finished wreath a natural look;

When the shape of the wreath is fully formed, you can start decorating the wreath. At this stage, you should decide what the wreath will be like: with one face or two-sided. Here the process of making a one-sided wreath will be shown. We wrap the wreath several times with gold thread;

Let's start gluing the leaves: apply hot glue to the leaf and place it on a suitable branch;

We do the same with the other half of the wreath, but we already paste a little less leaves. The result should be a slightly asymmetrical wreath, as shown in the picture:

We make a small bouquet from several rowan berries and leaves and glue it on the right side of the wreath;

We connect two physalis buds together. Glue the flowers at the base of the wreath;

When autumn comes and gives us a colossal variety of colors, we always want to join nature, decorate ourselves with its works. Against the background of yellow-orange leaves, very successful pictures are obtained. And to look even more successful, it is best to use wreaths. Autumn wreaths on the head can be completely different. Here are various options for creating wreaths, depending on the purpose of their use.

precious berries

For a reason, women have long adorned themselves with flowers or leaves woven into their hair, especially on holidays. For each occasion, special wreaths were woven, each had its own meaning and at the same time served as an ornament. Before the girls began to wear stones as jewelry, they wove bright berries into their hair - viburnum, mountain ash. Now we rarely think about what the flowers and herbs woven into a wreath mean. Contemporaries put on wreaths mainly for events related to folk holidays, or to emphasize the heritage of Slavic traditions.

Autumn wreaths are the brightest, they were usually made for the holidays dedicated to the harvest, so not only flowers and leaves were woven into them, but also fruits and ears of wheat.

Therefore, the preparation for creating an autumn wreath will be different.

For a few shots during a casual walk in the park, it will be enough to weave together stems of bright leaves that you find along the way.

For the performance of choirs or dance groups, in schools or kindergartens, when wreaths should be the same for everyone, it is important to decide what you will make them from - natural or artificial. The most common and affordable material for an autumn wreath is maple leaves. They are bright, voluminous and have a fairly long stem.

For contrast, it is very good to use rowan berries. They are dense, retain their shape and color well.

It is necessary to prepare these materials, as well as prepare the base - a rim on which leaves and berries will be attached. It can be a piece of wire decorated with threads, or old newspapers twisted with tape, wrapped in nylon tights.

Attach the leaves to the base with a strong thread, decorate with clusters of mountain ash. If there is a sufficient amount of other natural decorative material, then it can also be used.

If you are preparing for an autumn holiday, participating in a harvest festival, for example, or in a folk-style wedding, and you need a voluminous bright wreath, the step-by-step master class below will help you.

nice gift

If you put effort and show creativity, then with your own hands you can create a masterpiece.

To create a wreath you will need:

  1. A base made of any material (vine, paper, wire) or an ordinary plastic hoop;
  2. Coarse thread;
  3. Pre-harvested leaves, bunches of berries, cones, physalis, fruits, etc.;
  4. Flowers (sunflowers, chrysanthemums, asters, dahlias) natural or artificial;
  5. Glue;
  6. Paraffin, container for it.

Wrap the base with threads or nylon tights to make it easier to attach decorative components to it.

Melt the parffin, dip each leaf and berries into it, as in the photo. Dry. Materials prepared in this way will not break and will take on a more decorative look. Flowers and fruits do not need to be treated like this.

This process is lengthy and may take a couple of hours. If there is no time, you can use artificial leaves and berries.

Attach the prepared materials in order to compose a composition that most advantageously harmonizes with all the prepared materials.

Attach leaves, flowers and berries with thread or glue (small parts) to the base. The wreath is ready.

For a wedding, you need to choose more delicate and light colors of the decorative material.

Girls in wreaths at weddings look very touching and cute. Therefore, bridesmaids use this element of decoration very willingly. A wedding wreath can be kept as a souvenir and decorate the wall of the room with it. For the bride herself, elements of a wreath are usually used, decorating her hair with them.

Women's faces are very flowers. And the bright and delicate shades of the autumn bouquet make their image elegant and unusual. And even professional photographers can have a DIY autumn wreath in their arsenal, which will decorate any model during an autumn photo shoot.
