Red Riding Hood headdress. Little Red Riding Hood: do-it-yourself doll for beginners. What does carnival fairy clothes consist of

The creation of beautiful carnival and festive costumes is always based on the display of various fairy-tale and cartoon characters. For example, one of the most popular characters, which can often be seen at New Year's parties in kindergartens, schools and even at theme parties, is Little Red Riding Hood. But how to make a Little Red Riding Hood costume without the help of professional fashion designers and milliners?

The image of Little Red Riding Hood: what is it?

In order to make a costume for this fairy-tale character, you need to remember what details the image of Little Red Riding Hood is made up of. So, our character will have a beautiful red headdress, a fluffy skirt to match, a snow-white apron with ruffles, a black vest worn over a snow-white blouse with starched sleeves, a corset, white tights, black or red shoes and a wicker basket with pies for grandmother.

The second point that you need to pay attention to is the way the festive attire is made. That is, at this stage it is necessary to decide whether the Little Red Riding Hood costume will be sewn from any fabric, whether it will be a knitted or crocheted product, whether it can be made from paper, etc. In our example, we will consider a variant of the costume, sewn from fabric.

How to make a fabric suit?

In order to make a similar suit out of fabric, you will need the following auxiliary tools:

  • red stretch gabardine (needed for sewing a hat and skirt);
  • white tulle (needed to create a petticoat);
  • multi-colored floss threads (for embroidering a pattern on an apron);
  • wide elastic band (with a width of not more than 2 cm) made of elastic material;
  • white calico (for napkins in a basket and apron);
  • red braid for decoration (you can decorate the edges of the napkin with it);
  • black braid, a piece of denim and thick black knitwear (for the belt).

What skirt for the image of Little Red Riding Hood to sew?

A skirt is an important detail of any women's wardrobe, as well as the Little Red Riding Hood costume. The easiest option to make a beautiful skirt for a suit is to choose a half-sun style. In this case, we will get a product with an elastic band and without a zipper. To do this, we need to take only two measurements: the length of the product (abbreviated as CI) and the waist circumference (OB). And of course, you can find a ready-made pattern and fit it to your child's measurements, or make it yourself.

How to make a pattern for a skirt yourself?

So you've decided to make your own Little Red Riding Hood costume. Returning to the skirt, we take special paper for patterns (if there is none, you can use unnecessary newspapers), a simple pencil, a ruler, a protractor, a compass and begin to build a right angle with a marked vertex at the “O” point. Further, from the starting point we set aside two radii, denoted by "R1" "R2". In this case, "R1" will conditionally designate the waistline, and "R2" - the lower part of our future skirt.

To calculate "R1" it is necessary to add about 5 cm to the obtained measurements of the volume of the hips and divide the resulting value by 2 π. In this case, "π" will correspond to ≈ 3.14.5 cm. Recall that it is this number that is usually used for the allowance. And it is with this value that almost all children's costumes are sewn. Little Red Riding Hood is no exception.

At the next stage, we set two additional points obtained in the calculation of "R1", designate them "T" and "T1". We do a similar procedure with the points formed during the calculations of "R2", we mark them as "H" and "H1".

After that, connect and circle all the points. We will make the belt for the skirt in the form of a small rectangle equal to the sum of “ABOUT” (hip circumference) + “π” (allowance) and with a width of about 7-8 cm.

What is the procedure for sewing a skirt for a suit?

At the first stage, we make a lining for the skirt, without which the Little Red Riding Hood costume, made with our own hands, simply will not look spectacular. To do this, take white tulle and cut out three quadrangles from it, each 1 m wide. At the same time, their length should be 1.5-2 cm longer than the length of the skirt.

You will end up with about three layers of petticoats. At the second stage, we carefully grind all three layers along the short side (each separately), and we lay a machine line along the long side and tighten it to the size of the “TT1” segment (as in the pattern). Then we connect all the details of the lining and sew them with a stitch.

At the next stage, we make the skirt itself according to the pattern and sew the lining to its inner side. And the final touch to the skirt will be a beautiful apron that will perfectly complement your Little Red Riding Hood costume. You can make it with your own hands using white fabric and ready-made ruffles.

For simplicity, cut a semicircle in one layer (taking into account a small number of folds); make a belt from a small narrow piece of fabric; sew the received parts. And, finally, for beauty, you can sew ruffles around the perimeter of the apron. If desired, you can also embroider floral motifs on a white background.

How to make the rest of the clothes for the costume?

Before the Little Red Riding Hood costume (photos are presented in the article) is ready, it is necessary to complement the skirt with an original blouse, vest, corset and hat. Blouse and vest can be purchased ready-made, and the corset can be made independently. To do this, take a thick fabric, cut a long strip out of it (size 56x12 cm), fold the edges, make 2-3 holes and thread a cord or ribbon into them.

So, the top and bottom of the suit are ready. It remains only to make a hat. To do this, we measure the girth of the child's head, measure the distance from one temple to another, as well as from the back of the head to the top of the head. Then we take a red fabric and cut out two parts according to the pattern: the front and the bottom of the cap. We sew all the details and decorate with white ruffles. Ready.

What details need to be taken into account when completing the image of the heroine?

However, to make the Little Red Riding Hood costume for a girl more in line with the chosen image, complete it with a basket. To do this, you can take a purchased wicker basket, line it with a white ruffled cloth and fill it with fake pies.

Please note that, depending on the season, a girl can wear white tights (or stockings) and shoes (or sandals) on her feet.

In the end, you will get a beautiful festive Little Red Riding Hood costume. You will find photos of the product and patterns in our article.

You can always sew a children's Little Red Riding Hood carnival costume with your own hands, even if your sewing experience is minimal. In our master class, we focused on the details, and got an elegant costume in which the child looks like a doll. The calculation is presented for a child of 3-4 years old, respectively, for girls younger or older, less or more material will go.

To sew a Little Red Riding Hood costume with your own hands, you will need:

- tulle 1.5 m red;

- crepsatin or red satin 1-1.5m;

- white crepe 0.5-1 m;

- dense satin or artificial leather in black 30 cm;

- threads to match the color of the fabric;

— oblique inlay 15m red;

- satin ribbon 5 cm wide in white and black;

- white and black lace;

- satin ribbons and decorative elements in red and gold;

- elastic band 1.5 cm and 0.5 cm thick;

- adhesive dense fabric such as dublerin or the basis for the collars of men's shirts.

How to sew a Little Red Riding Hood costume: job description

Cut out Little Red Riding Hood's costume

Let's start with tulle. Our petticoat will be 30cm long. Therefore, we cut out 5 strips 30 cm wide and 1.5 m long along the cut of the fabric. The total length of the petticoat without assembly will be 7.5 m.

Then we move on to the red satin. A real Little Red Riding Hood simply cannot be without a fluffy red skirt. Therefore, the costume will consist of a fluffy sun-flared skirt. To do this, fold the fabric in half along the shared thread and mark a semicircle with a radius of 40 cm with a piece of soap or chalk. And one more - with a radius of 10-12cm. The centers of both circles lie at the same point.

We will also need a belt for the skirt and petticoat. These will be 2 rectangles measuring 80x8cm.

Now let's deal with the most important accessory of Little Red Riding Hood's carnival costume, in fact, the cap itself. It should be in the spirit of that time, i.e. with a large lapel and a small lace around the edges.

The cut of our hat will be very simple. This is a rectangle measuring 40x25 cm and a droplet 12x7 cm. Sizes are for a child with a head circumference of 47-48 cm.

Now the corset. The corset should be 5 cm less than the length of the child's waist so that the lacing looks beautiful. The corset will be slightly higher in front.

We cut out aprons from white crepe satin.

We will also make a blouse from white crepe satin. In order not to bother with the pattern, we take the base from the blouse, which fits the child. I only increased the size of the shoulder, so as to make folds in front and behind. We make a clasp on the back.

(left - front, middle - sleeve, right - back)

Sewing and assembling a Little Red Riding Hood costume for a girl

We start with the petticoat. Sew together all 5 pieces of the cut. Then we process one edge with an oblique inlay.

Then we remove the thread tension to zero and make the maximum stitch step. In this mode, we make a line to assemble the petticoat, then gently pull on one thread and assemble the petticoat.

The already assembled petticoat will remain sewn to the belt. Insert the rubber band and you're done.

Let's get to the skirt. Before starting work, I processed the outer and inner edges of the skirt with a thermal method. Then we process the outer contour with an oblique inlay. It is better to sew a slanting inlay with a decorative seam.

We sew the belt.

Now we proceed to the decoration of the gold ribbon and white lace.

Everything, the skirt for the Little Red Riding Hood costume is ready.

The cap is the most important attribute of the costume, because it should look beautiful and elegant; I sewed lace on three sides of the rectangle.

Then we sew the remaining side of the rectangle to the "droplet". We turn out and process the edge. Here's what should happen.

We also process the apron with a thermal method, tuck the edge and sew on lace.

We make a belt for an apron and ties from a satin ribbon.

We begin to sew the blouse classically - from the shoulder seams. We lay the folds, sew and process the seams.

The sleeves are sewn along the side seam and gathered at the shoulder.

We turn the bottom of the sleeve and sew on lace.

We stitch the sleeves. We process the neck with an oblique trim and lace. The blouse is ready, all that remains is to insert the rubber bands into the sleeves and sew on the decor.

We sew a corset. Glue the adhesive fabric to one part of the corset. Then we sew both parts of the corset and turn it inside out. On the front side we sew lace with a decorative seam.

We process the bottom of the corset with a satin ribbon and a decorative seam. Ahead, we process the holes for the cord with eyelets.

As you can see, it’s not difficult to sew an original Little Red Riding Hood children’s costume with your own hands!

    For the manufacture of hats, I used such material - stretch gabardine (red). We will try to build a drawing for a hat. To do this, you must first measure the head of your future Little Red Riding Hood as it is shown below:

    Any hat consists of two parts. This is the bottom and the front itself.

    Here's a hat we get:

    Known to everyone since childhood Little Red Riding Hood but from a Soviet musical film.

    Such cap and try to make it by hand. We don't even need a sewing machine to make it. We will sew from red felt. For relief cutting, you can use a special knife or very sharp nail scissors.

    To start we do pattern based on the size of the head of an adult or a child. If it is problematic to cut it out correctly, then you can always use a hat that fits.

    We transfer the details of the pattern to the felt and cut it out. We pay special attention to handmade lace.

    We cut off the finished elements of the cap with tailor's pins and sew them by hand. The seam goes inside the hat.

    After we have sewn both parts of the cap, we thread the rope into the frill and tie it at the back of the head, as shown in the photo.

    This is how Little Red Riding Hood will look on her head.

    Hat for the red riding hood made of felt ready.

    There is no exact description of what kind of headdress Little Red Riding Hood had. It is only known that e was nicknamed that way because of the love for the red cap.

    There are many options out there, whatever you like.

    The pattern is first made on paper and under the child, and after that it is transferred to the fabric.

    Cap.

    A simpler version of the cap is to cut out a circle and assemble it on an elastic band around the circumference of the head.

    Cap.

    A pattern can serve as an ordinary baby cap enlarged to the desired size.

    Kapor.

    Scarf.

    Here is such an option in the form of a scarf is just as cute and appropriate.

    If you want exactly the same costume as from the movie, then you need a blue skirt, a white T-shirt, an apron, and a red cap. The red cap can be replaced with a red cape. A white T-shirt and a blue skirt, I think there is in every home. We wear white socks and sandals on our feet.

    For a little girl, a red cap can be sewn from any red material. You can sew a hood and sheathe with ruffles. The hood is easy to sew: take a rectangular piece of fabric, 12-15 cm wide and equal to the circumference of the face. Fold it in half and sew along the middle seam. Step back from the corner at the crown of 3-4 cm, make a line of 5 cm, perpendicular to the main seam. Collect a narrow long strip into small folds and sew to the edge framing the face. Bend the bottom of the cap by 2-3 cm, stitch and insert a drawstring into the drawstring.

    You can sew a hood with a lapel, but this model is more suitable for a teenager:

    For a girl, you can pick up any red hat or sew such a model from a fort:

    A detailed description of how to sew such a hat is here.

    The Little Red Riding Hood costume for a children's party, for the New Year, in principle, is easy to make if it were not for the famous Little Red Riding Hood.

    Such hats as in a fairy tale are not for sale, so you should try to make it yourself, especially if there is a simple and quick way to make a red cap as in the photos below. The link to the source is visible on the photos themselves.

TOTAL

The New Year holidays have passed, in the hustle and bustle, the carnival costume of Little Red Riding Hood for her daughter was sewn on for the first New Year's party in her life. Now, finally, my hands have reached the point of writing a master class.

This time I will not talk in detail about how to sew a New Year's Red Riding Hood costume with my own hands with uploading photo instructions. I'll tell you only schematically what and how I did.

Before me was this image: a red skirt, an apron with ruffles, a white blouse, a black vest or corset, and, of course, a basket of buns for my grandmother).

Little Red Riding Hood Skirt

The question of how to sew a skirt was not even in front of me. Definitely decided - to be a half-sun skirt with a lining of soft tulle.

Construction of a semi-solar skirt with an elastic band with one back seam did not cause much difficulty.

It took only two measurements: the length of the product (CI) and the circumference of the hips (SB) (because the skirt is without a fastener and with an elastic band, if the skirt comes with a set-in zipper, then a half-waist measurement is used).

1. We build an angle of 90 degrees with a vertex at point O.

2. We calculate two radii, where R1 is the waist line and R2 is the bottom line of the skirt:

  1. R1 \u003d (From + 5 cm) / 2 π (where π ≈ 3.14, 5 cm is the allowance for freedom of fitting);
  2. R2 = R1 + Di.

3. Set aside from the point O down and to the right the lengths R1 and R2. The segment from the line T1 to H1 turned out to be equal to CI.

4. We connect the points T and T1 with a radius R1, H and H1 with a radius R2.

5. The contour of the skirt drawing passes through points T1H1H2T2.

6. We cut out the belt in the form of a rectangle, the length of which is equal to the girth of the hips + allowance for freedom of fitting, the width is 7 cm.

7. If you have an elasticated skirt, you will also need a hip measurement. We need to draw another radius, OB = R2 = (Ob + 5cm) / 2 π

The procedure for sewing a skirt of the sun:

1. From soft white tulle, I cut out three rectangles 1.5 cm longer than the length of the stretch gabardine part, I took 1 m each for assemblies. I got three layers of tulle on the lining.

2. Stitched each piece of tulle separately along the short side. I laid a line along the wide side of the tulle rectangles, pulled it down to a length equal to the length of TT1 on the pattern. I connected all three parts of the lining together, laying a machine line.

3. At the main part of the skirt, the back seam was stitched. I connected all three layers of tulle with stretch gabardine with a basting line.

She put aside her skirt for a while.

4. Getting to the apron.

To make it less of a hassle to wear a red riding hood costume for my daughter, I decided to make the apron and skirt one piece of the costume.

I cut my apron into a rectangle with rounded bottom corners. Pre-gathered sewing was sewn to three sides of it. The top of the apron was also laid with chaotic folds.

5. I found the middle of the apron and the middle of the skirt, aligned the centers and after that I start sewing the belt to the skirt.

6. The belt detail was sewn into a circle along the short side. I matched the seams on the belt and on the skirt together, folded it face to face and sewed the belt to the skirt. I ironed the seam allowance, folded the belt in half and ironed again. I swept the belt along the entire length and stitched at a distance of 1 mm from the edge, leaving a distance between the beginning and end of the line of 2-3 cm for threading the elastic.

7. With the help of a pin, I pulled the elastic into the skirt, stitched its ends into a ring. Stitched the unstitched section for pulling the elastic.

It turned out such a skirt of Little Red Riding Hood.

On the Internet, you can find many options for the Little Red Riding Hood costume, a corset or vest is an invariable attribute. I decided to simplify it and make a wide belt. I dug in the bins and found thick black knitwear, old jeans. Bought the straps.

I cut out a rectangle whose width = belt width * 2 + 1.5 cm seam allowances on each side. Belt length = Waist circumference + 1.5 cm for allowances. The belt we make is laced, so it would be better if it does not lace up tightly. We grind the belt along the long side and one short side. We turn it on the front side, we got a semblance of a bag.

In this bag we lay denim for rigidity. Rectangle size: waist circumference on the wide side, belt width without allowances for seams - on the short side.

We bend the sections inward at the open edge and lay a line along the edge. We give a similar line on the opposite edge of the belt.

Now we outline the holes for lacing. Initially, I wanted to make eyelets, but there were no machines for installing eyelets and buttons in the nearest needlework stores, the line for creating loops in the typewriter refused me this. Therefore, I had to sit and overcast all ten loops on my hands. And this was done on the last evening before the matinee. UFF! I made a decorative braid.

To sew a hat for Little Red Riding Hood, I had to rummage through the Internet. As a result, I came across a Soviet-era book "Children's Carnival Costumes" in 1968, where a pattern of Little Red Riding Hood's costume was given. Among all the other patterns, it seemed to me the most successful.

Here is a quote from the book:

Construction of a drawing of a hat pattern for a Little Red Riding Hood costume

Measurements:

The cap consists of two parts: the front and the bottom.

To build a drawing of the front of the cap draw a vertical line, put a dot and designate it with the letter W (Fig. C)

Payment:

ШШ1 - 25 cm down = measure along the oval of the face to the cheekbones / 2: (50cm / 2 \u003d 25 cm) - the length of the front edge of the cap.

ШШ2 = 15 cm to the right, which = the distance from one temporal cavity to the other / 3: 44 cm / 3 = 15 (cap depth).

W2W3 = 25cm down=WW1.

Ш3, Ш1 are connected by a straight line - the design of the bottom of the cap.

W3W4=2 cm left

W4W5 = 1 cm up.

Points Ш2, Ш5, Ш1 connect.

The distance Ш1Ш5 is divided into 2 parts and the division point is denoted by the letter B.

ВВ1=5 cm up (tuck length)

To build a drawing of the bottom of the cap draw a vertical line, put a point and designate it with the letter W.

Payment:

WSH1 = 21 cm down, i.e. the distance of the front of the cap (on the drawing) ШШ1 minus 4 cm:

25 cm-4 cm \u003d 21 cm - ШШ1 height of the bottom - the fold of matter.

ШШ2 = 8 cm to the right = measurement from one temporal cavity to another, divided by 6.

48/6=8 (half the width of the bottom).

W2W3 = 21 cm down = WW1.

Points Ш3, Ш1 are connected by a straight line.

W2W4 \u003d 2.5 cm to the left along the bisector.

Ш3Ш5 - 1.5 cm to the left.

Points Ш5, Ш4, Ш are connected - the design of the bottom.

Leave a 1cm seam allowance when cutting.

When cutting ШШ2 the front of the cap is a fold of matter; in the details of the bottom ШШ1 - the fold of the fabric.

Sewing sequence:

  1. In the designated place along the bottom edge, a tuck or clip is made.
  2. The bottom is pinned to the front of the cap face to face and swept, making a small landing on the top in rounded places, and then sewn.
  3. Lace, frill or ruffle is sewn along the edge of the front of the cap.
  4. The same ruffle is sewn into the seam of the bottom.
  5. The bottom section of the cap is sheathed with a narrow ribbon.
  6. Sew a wide ribbon to make it convenient to tie a bow.

I made a small change to the hat pattern.

Secondly, I made the cap double, i.e. All seams are hidden inside the hat.

Well, I didn’t sew on a bow, although with it the hat would have been more secure.

PS: Updated in 2016) The ties to the hat were still sewn on. Because during the holidays, it inexorably subsided.

That's basically it. I didn’t have time to sew a blouse, so I bought it in Gloria Jeans, I found a basket in the market. In the bins to fill the basket I found cuts of felt, I decided to make sweets - cheesecakes, bagels, ice cream. Can be filled with regular edible dryers.

See for yourself what came out of it).

YES, I put a napkin made of coarse calico in the basket, the edges of which I processed with sewing, the seam was decorated with a contrasting braid with a snake.

P.S. The costume is one size fits all. They wore it for three years on various holidays and New Year's matinees. We only changed the blouse, because we are growing by leaps and bounds.

The Little Red Riding Hood costume is always a fashionable option for carnival events and some holidays. Its advantage is not only that such an outfit does not lose its relevance. Another of its advantages is the ease of creating an image, because its details can be created independently and at home. Do not torture yourself with thoughts about how to sew a Little Red Riding Hood costume. It is enough just to remember what that character looked like and create simple do-it-yourself details that are included in her image.

Do-it-yourself Little Red Riding Hood costume for a girl

For the simplest version of such a children's carnival attire for a girl, you only need to sew a few details:

  • apron;
  • bonnet;
  • skirt;
  • corset.

For the blouse, you will need two large pieces of white satin fabric, from which two large pieces should be cut out to repeat the shape of the blouse and sewn, leaving holes in the neck, bottom and sleeves. You need to cut it so that the blouse is very loose and easy to dress.

Making an apron is very easy. From a white satin fabric, cut out a piece in the form of a semicircle. We sew its arc with white lace braid, and sew a belt of white satin fabric to the base. The approximate width of the belt is five centimeters.

To create a bonnet, you need to cut out a figure in the form of a rugby ball from red satin fabric, sheathe it with lace braid in a contrasting color, and sew satin ribbons to its two edges, which will be tied with a bow under the chin.

To make a skirt, two pieces of a medium-length skirt with a wide bottom should be cut out of a red fabric. We sew both parts, bend the upper edges, insert the elastic band, tightening it a little, and sew it so that the elastic band cannot fall out.

For the corset you will need satin fabric. We cut it in the shape of a rectangle and make five holes on the edge of each side of it. Passing a black cord or a very thin ribbon through the holes crosswise.

Original children's outfit for girls

For girls who like to stand out, you can create a carnival look with unusual details.

Instead of a bonnet, you can sew a red beret from wedges by placing a perky pom-pom on top, or sheathe it with lace.

A red tutu skirt will look impressive, which is easy to create with your own hands from a fabric in the form of a mesh and an elastic band.

So that the corset does not cause inconvenience, it can be sewn on any white blouse from the wardrobe. To do this, you need to take three rectangles (one on the back and two on the front sides) and a cord that will connect the two parts in front.

You can also make a very simple apron with your own hands, which does not require needles and threads. It is enough just to cut out a part from a light satin that resembles a semicircle in shape so that two long thin strips extend from its base, which will play the role of ties.

Variant of the adult Little Red Riding Hood costume

To create such a carnival outfit with your own hands, you only need to sew a few details, the rest can be found in your own wardrobe or purchased.

You can find a red skirt and a white blouse on your own. It is desirable that the skirt is not straight.
