Modular Origami: Blue Crystal Snowflake

The snowflake is made of white and blue office paper and decorated with glitters. The snowflake is quite strong and there is no need to glue the modules.

You will need:

  • blanks from office paper: blue = 42 pieces; white = 72 pieces.
  • silver or blue glitter
  • PVA glue

Preparing modules

  • Arrange the modules into piles: 6 blue and 6 white modules for the base and 10 white and 5 blue for the rays.
  • Set the remaining 6 white pieces aside. They will be needed when making a snowflake.

Assembly of snowflake parts

  1. The base of the snowflake. Run the initial row of 12 pieces, as for the branches of the Christmas tree (. Take 6 blue and 6 white pieces and hang them.
  2. Rays of snowflakes.

Collect the snowflake beam.

The combination of white and blue modules creates a beautiful "ice pattern". It is better to glue the rays of such a snowflake to the base, especially if you want to use the craft as a Christmas decoration.

You will need:

  • blanks from office paper: blue = 84 pieces; white = 66 pieces.
  • silver or blue glitter
  • PVA glue

Preparing modules

  • From all the blanks, fold the triangular modules.
  • Arrange the modules into piles: 6 pieces of each color for the base of the snowflake and 13 pieces of blue and 10 pieces of white for each beam.

Assembly of snowflake parts

  1. The base of the snowflake. Complete the initial row of 12 modules, as for the Blue Crystal snowflake.
  2. Rays of snowflakes.

Collect the snowflake beam.

Hang the rays on the base of the snowflake, as shown in photo 9.

Decorate the snowflake using glitter and PVA glue.

If you want to glue the beams to the base, grease the sharp tips of two adjacent base modules with PVA glue and hang the first beam module on them. Then glue the rest of the beams in the same way.

The snowflake "Frosty pattern" from the modules is ready.

How to make a snowflake "Magic Bird"

The rays of this white and blue snowflake resemble the feathers of a fabulous bird. The snowflake is made without a base, therefore, in order to give additional strength to the craft, it is better to glue it together during decoration.

You will need:

  • blanks from office paper: blue = 36 pieces; white = 66 pieces.
  • silver or blue glitter
  • PVA glue

Preparing modules

  • From all the blanks, fold the triangular modules.
  • Set aside 6 white modules in a separate pile - they will be needed when making a snowflake.
  • Divide the remaining modules into 6 piles.

Collect the snowflake beams.

Before hanging the white module, apply PVA glue to the sharp tips of the blue modules to secure the connection.

From a sheet of A4 paper, you need to make a blank for cutting - an even square.

It's very easy to make but looks great!

A snowflake consists of six rays, which are fastened to each other with glue or a stapler - whichever is more convenient for you.

Step by step, the work can be described as follows.

  1. You need to take a square of paper and fold it into a triangle. Make cuts, as in the first photo.
  2. Glue the corners of the central smallest square to make a tube.
  3. Fold the corners of the next square in the opposite direction and glue it like that.
  4. So alternately bend the corners in different directions and glue. Get one ray.

More clearly, the scheme for making a snowflake is shown in the photo.

You need to make 6 such rays, fasten them together, and you will get a big 3 d snowflake.

Step by step instructions for cutting fluffy snowflakes:

The paper square needs to be folded in half, it turns out a triangle.

And now this triangle must be folded in half again.

Now the thickest fold of the triangle must be folded with the longest to get a blank as in the figure.

After that, cut off the excess paper along the cut line, as shown in the figure with a dotted line.

On the resulting blank, it remains to make cuts and get a fluffy snowflake.

Cutting will not take much time, because the cuts do not have to be done very carefully.

How to assemble a snowflake from modules: a master class.

The assembly of the snowflake starts from the central part. The middle must be folded from 12 modules.

The edges of the module must be inserted into the pockets of the rest of the same modules.

Unscrew the rest of the module and connect the ends of the chain with it, so you will form a ring.

Snowflakes made from origami modules can add zest to the festive atmosphere of the holiday. They can bring pleasure twice: when they are created and when they are admired.

Target: creating a snowflake using modular origami technique.

to form practical skills in the technique of modular origami;
to consolidate the skills of handling the simplest tools - scissors, paper:
develop artistic taste, creativity and imagination based on knowledge, skills and abilities;
development of aesthetic feelings and ideas, figurative thinking and imagination, the ability to be creative in the implementation of the plan.

To create a snowflake using the modular origami technique, you need to make 30 white modules and 30 blue modules. You will also need scissors and a needle and thread.

Progress:

The creation of three-dimensional figures from triangular modules, the so-called 3D origami, was invented in China. The whole figure is assembled from a huge number of identical parts (modules). Each module is folded according to the rules of classic origami from one sheet of paper, and then the modules are connected by nesting them into each other. The resulting friction force does not allow the structure to disintegrate. Therefore, such models are assembled without glue.
You can experiment with different types of paper.
1. We start work with the manufacture of modules. Each sheet of A4 format must be divided into 16 equal rectangles, cut them out. Take one rectangle and fold it in half horizontally. The resulting part is folded vertically, outlining the center line. We bend the upper right and left corners to the center. We turn the workpiece over and bend the right and left lower corners. We raise the lower part, fold it in half and get the first module.


2. We make the rest according to this principle.
3. Now that all the modules are ready, you can start assembling. We combine 2 white modules with a blue module, inserting into each other.


4. Attention: then, according to the same principle, we substitute the white module and string the blue module on it.


5.When the blue modules are attached, we begin to attach the white modules

The main thing is to remember that any snowflake has 6 rays, following this simple rule, you can always get a good result.

Our snowflake is very simple and easy to assemble, especially if this is your first time making modular origami. All you need is to spend a little time to create the required number of modules.

Modular origami snowflake, its assembly scheme

To get a finished snowflake, you need to make 90 modules. If you have ready-made square sheets (these are often found in offices for notes), use them, or make your own. From a standard A4 sheet, lined into identical squares, 16 blanks come out. To assemble the modules, use half of the squares. Thus, one sheet allows you to make 32 modules.

Let's consider in detail the assembly of the module.

Step 1

If you have prepared 32 modules, then your blank is half a square and you just need to fold it in half. If you have a square, fold it in half horizontally. Then fold it vertically and unfold it back. Bend the edges diagonally to the center of the vertical line - together they form a triangle.

Step 2

We turn the workpiece over and bend the corners from below to the horizontal line in the center. Thus, we get a rhombus. Next, fold these corners up and we get a triangle. To complete, simply fold the triangle in half vertically so that the pockets are on the outside and the triangles are on the inside. Our preparation is ready. This is an assembly of universal modules, from which all kinds of modular origami figures are folded.

Step 3

Take 12 modules and lay them out in a circle, with the short side of the triangle down and pockets in the middle. They form the first row of our snowflake. Let's take another 12 modules and use them to connect the first row, in a way that can be seen in photo 9.

In the same way, with the help of 12 modules, we will make the third row. This is the basis for the snowflake.

Step 4

Let's make the first ray, put two modules on one of the modules of the third row at once and connect them with one, the beginning of the ray is indicated in beige in the photo. We do the assembly according to the scheme 2-1-2-1 only 4 times. The finished ray in white will look like in photo 13. In total, we need to make 6 rays. If we count from the first one that we have collected, then we start doing the next one in the 3rd module, then the 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th modules.

And now our snowflake is ready!

It is very gentle and airy, will decorate any interior. You can easily make snowflakes colored, or you can make only the rays colorful. It all depends on your imagination and desire. We hope that our master class was useful and understandable.

Today we propose to make a fairly simple snowflake using the modular technique, which is also called. When creating this jewelry, you need to be patient. You have to make 102 triangular modules, which will become the basis of our Kusudama snowflake.

How to make a triangular origami module

You can choose the sheet size when making the module. For convenience, especially if you are a beginner kusudama master, take a regular landscape sheet. It must be divided into 16 parts. You should get blanks 7 by 5 cm.

We fold each rectangle lengthwise into two equal parts, outline the middle of each. The next step is to fold the corners on both sides. As shown in the first 3 pictures of the photo.

Now turn your workpiece over and bend the protruding ends of the triangle. Next, unbend the seat and bend two small corners on it. This is shown in the central photo. The next step is to bend the protruding part of the stob again, we have a triangle. Fold the resulting large triangle in half. We got modules for further crafts.

First you need to assemble the first “ray” of our snowflake from the prepared modules. To create it, we will need 6 sections one by one and 5 two modular triangles each.

First, take our module and bend it in half. Inserts one more module into two of his pockets. Each next one also has one short corner. We get such a blank as in the photo below.

Important! To make a snowflake even, count the number of rows. It should be the same in each of its rays.

In total, you should have 6 rays as in the photo below. They will become the basis of the snowflake. You can use paper of any density and color, including velvet-coated paper and cardboard.

The next step is to combine our rays into one snowflake using the modular origami technique.

Look carefully at the photo! It clearly shows how the rays are fixed to each other.

To begin with, we take two beams and fix them together. For better fixation, you can use glue.

Take your time and carefully collect all the rays into one original snowflake. Your modular origami craft is ready.

Now, for convenience, you can tie a beautiful ribbon to it or cover it with paint. Such beauty will decorate any Christmas tree or window. And from several of these snowflakes you can make a whole garland.
