How to retouch skin in Photoshop cs6. Quick and easy face retouching in Photoshop. How to make your skin matte

In this tutorial I will show you how to do a quick retouching of a face in Photoshop. Retouching faces in Photoshop is a daily task for many photographers and designers. Since there are a lot of photos to process, and the processing tasks are typical, the least labor-intensive and most effective retouching method is required, which allows you to achieve acceptable results quickly.

The main task of face retouching is to hide visible imperfections of the facial skin without losing its texture.

Earlier we looked at the simplest methods of retouching with you using the Clone Stamp (S) and Healing Brush Tool (J). Today I will talk about an alternative touch-up technique that photographers use.

I found a photo on the Internet that I will work with. The girl in the photo has problem skin hidden under the makeup, we will try to make it smoother and more uniform with the help of a quick retouching of the face in Photoshop.

Getting Started

Open the photo - Ctrl + O.

Go to the layers palette - F7, duplicate the layer with the original photo CTRL + J, so that there is something to compare the result of the lesson with.

Color correction

Let's slightly adjust the brightness and contrast.

Go to the menu "Image - Adjustsments - Brightness / Contrast" (Image - Correction - Brightness / Contrast). I increased the brightness value to +40, and, on the contrary, reduced the contrast to 40.

Removal of large defects

We remove large irregularities in the old fashioned way with the Healing Brush Tool (J).

We take a sample of normal skin using the Alt key, the cursor is filled with the texture of the sample taken, click on the pimples to smooth out large protrusions on the skin.

We take a sample of clean skin next to the fragment that we want to smooth, since the overlay is taking into account the matte, which means that the lighting of the edited area is taken into account.

Align the skin

After getting rid of large defects go to the menu Filter - Blur - Gaussian blur.

Set this blur radius to smooth out the skin texture, hiding bumps and enlarged pores.

I set the blur radius to 23px.

Add a mask to the layer by clicking on the icon at the bottom of the layers palette.

A white mask will appear next to the layer in the layers palette.

Pay attention to the squares of the choice of the main color and the background color, they have become black and white.

The mask works in our case in this way: with a brush with black we erase the areas that we do not need, with white - we restore the erased.

Switching between colors is done with the X key.

Take the Brush Tool (B), a standard round one with soft edges, and choose black.

We erase parts of the photo that should not be blurred: eyes, background, lips, nose, ear, hand (in general, everything except the skin).

If something is inaccurate, switch to white (X) and restore the erased fragment.

You should get something like the following:

Recovering the texture

Go to the first source layer (select it in the layers palette). Turn off the visibility of the second blurred layer by clicking on the eye next to the layer thumbnail.

Open the channel palette Window - Channels (Window - Channels).

Go to the "Channels" tab, turn on / off the channels in turn, Red, Green, Blue. Select the channel where the skin texture is most clearly visible (one of three).

I chose the red channel.

Select the entire image - Ctrl + A and copy the selected channel - Ctrl + C.

Turn all channels back on (click on the top RGB channel).

Go to the layers tab - F7, insert the channel - press Ctrl + V.

The copied channel will appear above the source layer.

Move it to the very top of the layers palette, above the blurred layer.

Go to the menu Filter - Other - High pass (Filter - Other - Color contrast).

I set the radius to 2.5px, you can set the value at your discretion experimentally - move the slider and see how the sharpness of the image changes.

Change the Blending Mode of the last layer at the top of the Layers Palette to "Linear light" and set the Opacity to 50%.

Take the Eraser Tool (E) and erase the excess.

The leather is finished.

Finally, I treated the red sore eyes a little.

I will tell you about eye retouching in detail in one of the following tutorials.

That's all. My result:

Photos before processing:

In this tutorial, we looked at how to do quick face retouching in Photoshop. This method of retouching is not unique, but it allows you to relatively quickly get rid of visible imperfections on the face, make the skin smooth and, which is very important, preserve the texture of the skin.

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial.

In this tutorial Photoshop you will get acquainted with another interesting way of fine retouching of the face. It differs from the well-known methods of skin smoothing, and in some ways it is significantly superior to them in terms of the quality of performance.

We will use the Burn tool for basic retouching. (Burn Tool) and clarifier (Dodge Tool) as well as cloning tools: Stamp (Clone Tool), Patch (Patch)... Try it and you will be amazed at the result.

Begin!

Result before and after retouching:

Usually, in the work of professional photographers, lightening and darkening is used to correct specific areas in photographs for the correct balance of light and shadow. In Photoshop, however, when retouching portraits, the average user never uses the Burn and Dodge tools. (Burn, Dodge)... Typically these tools are used when working with landscape images, not people. Today you will see in practice that D&B (Dodge and Burn) affect only the level of skin darkening, without damaging its structure in any way. Often retouching people overuse the Blur tool (Blur) creating a plastic skin effect. We will never resort to this favorite alignment method, and you will see how carefully the face correction is performed.

Step 1. Evaluation of the photo.

Open up (Ctrl + O) in Photoshop any photo you want to enhance. I used this photo of a girl in my work.

The girl's eyebrows are pretty much made up, but don't worry, we'll tweak them later.

Before we start retouching, let's evaluate our field of activity. Look at the eye area. They look very tired, the sclera are reddened and there are dark areas in the area of the lower eyelids.

The areas around the mouth also need correction as the pigmented dark areas around the edges of the lips are clearly visible.

The lips look good, but adding volume will only give them more charm.

The general lighting makes the girl's face very flat, which needs to be corrected too.

Step 2. Create the "D&B" layer (Dodge and Burn).

Some users prefer to work with these tools on separate layers. I usually do my adjustments on one layer, alternating between the Burn and Dodge tools.

Create a New Layer (Layer-New Layer) and at the bottom of the dialog box, change the blending mode to "Soft Light" (Soft Light)... In the same place we activate the checkbox of the function “Fill with a neutral color of the Soft light mode (50% gray)". In the top line of the dialog box, enter the name of the layer "Dodge and Burn" (Dodge and Burn)... Click OK, and start lightening and darkening on this layer.

Step 3.

Dodge and Burn tools (Dodge, Burn) are activated in the toolbar by clicking on their icons with the right mouse button.

Most people rarely use them, usually using a Brush. (Brush) black or white for correction. Before the release of the fourth version of Photoshop, there were good reasons not to use D&B (Dodge and Burn) as they changed skin tones towards gray and orange. However, in later versions of Photoshop, the settings have become more precise and flexible, which allows excellent retouching of images.

Consider the following points with regards to D&B settings when smoothing skin:

The brush of the tool used should be as soft as possible. (hardness 0%) to create smooth transitions from one area to another.

Frequent change of brush diameter is required (size) when moving from one retouch area to another. To do this, use the keyboard square brackets (the left parenthesis decreases the size, the right one increases).

In the top toolbar of the D&B instrument (Dodge, Burn) note the three different modes of operation of the tool: Highlights, Midtones, Shadows (Highlights, Midltones, Shadow)... To achieve a high-quality retouching result, I usually use the settings in the Midtones mode. (Midltones).

Exposition (Exposure) should be very low, about 5-10% to create a gradual change in the image. Small tool strokes will make these changes unnoticeable.

Below is a screenshot of my Dodge settings (Dodge):

Step 4.

First, select an area to be retouched, and while there, adjust the image by switching between D&B tools. Apply Brightener (Dodge) on the sclera of the inner part of the eyes to remove redness. Lighten the iris a bit for a clear, open look. Swipe Dimmer (Burn) along the border between the sclera and the iris. Use a Brightener (Dodge) in the inner part of the lower eyelids, hiding fine wrinkles and darkening. To compare the result with the original image, periodically turn off the visibility of the gray layer (click on the eye opposite the active layer icon).

This is what the gray layer looks like at this stage:

Result before and after retouching eyes:

The girl's eyes still look natural and have the original structure, but her eyes and skin are refreshed.

Before moving on to the next area, use my advice:

1. If you have the opportunity to work on a graphics tablet, use it, because the result will be better than using a mouse.

2. Increase the scale of the processed area using the Zoom tool by about 300% on the keyboard, press the combination of Ctrl and the + sign (increase) or Ctrl and sign - (decrease).

3. If the tone of the treated skin has acquired a gray or orange tint, use the Sponge tool (Sponge), which is in the same group with D&B instruments. In the upper settings menu, go to the "Desaturate" mode (Desaturate) to soften the orange cast, or turn on Saturation when correcting a gray face. Use Push (Flow) 20% to customize the Sponge brush.

Step 5.

Let's move on to the mouth area. Here, as well as in the eye area, you can use D&B, but I would not recommend only this method. Large areas of retouching are best handled with the Clone Stamp and Patch tools. (Clone Tool, Patch Tool)... Let me remind you how these tools work. When working with a Stamp, place the cursor in the place where you want to take a skin sample, and right-click on it while holding down the Alt key. Then, move the cursor to the correction area and click again with the right mouse button, copying the taken sample to the selected area.

The working principle of the Patch is similar to the Stamp. Select an area of skin of any size for correction and transfer the selection to a clean area of skin to show a copy sample. When you release the mouse button, the copied skin area appears in the area to be corrected. I usually use the Patch in my works. (Patch), since it is possible to control the shape of the corrected zone, in contrast to the Stamp (Clone Tool) where a round brush shape is already set.

Move to the skin on the left side of the mouth and start correcting dark spots.

As in step 4, I used the Brightener (Dodge) to level out dark areas. If you accidentally overdo it with lightening, switch to Dimmer (Burn) and return the skin color to the desired state.

Here's what happened after correcting the lower part of the face:

The mouth area now looks much better.

Step 6.

Next, we will correct the shape of the lips. They look good, but with D&B they can be made fuller. Swipe Dimmer (Burn) along the contour of the lips, giving them a clear outline. Clarifier (Dodge) add cross lines for volume. Darken the areas under the girl's lower lip, simulating a shadow.

Please note that the middle of the lower lip is almost unlit before retouching.

After the correction, the lips look fuller.

Next, you can continue to smooth your face in a similar manner. Below is a gray layer with my adjustment. I have added with Blackout (Burn) a shadow on the cheeks to make the face look more voluminous.

To make the nose look thinner, use the Burner (Burn) with a small exposure (Exposur) on either side of it. The dark point at the tip of the nose of the gray layer shows a softening of the highlight.

I also lined with Dimmer (Burn) chin area and Brightener (Dodge) softened the brightness of the model's eyebrows. In the course of work, you can not change the settings of the tools, with the exception of their sizes.

In the last step, create a New Empty Layer. (Ctrl + Shift + N) with Normal (Normal) mixing mode. Select Brush (Brush) with soft edges in light pink and low opacity (Opacity) 5-8%. Swipe it over the places where skin imperfections are still visible.

We're done. I hope you found this tutorial useful and added another rewarding experience to your touch-up knowledge.

In that Photoshop tutorial you will learn how professionals do skin retouching. The skin will look healthy and, most importantly, without the "plastic" effect or blurring.

I hope you enjoy our Photoshop courses. Let's get down to the lesson ...

1. Open a photo in Photoshop.

In this photo retouching tutorial, try using high resolution images where you can see skin texture.

2. Duplicate the layer and paste it into the group.

To do this, click Ctrl + J to duplicate the layer and then Ctrl + G to place the layer you just created into a group. Name the group “Airbrush” and the layer “Blur”.

The "Blur" layer we will use to blur the skin. Then we'll add another new layer to bring back the natural texture of the skin.

3. Select the "Blur" layer.

To blur the current layer use Surface Blur filter... This filter is similar to Gaussian Blur, the difference is that it leaves the edges more detailed. We need to blur the layer so that the skin is smoothed, but without any blurred edges.

4. The result of applying the Surface Blur filter.

Your drawing should look similar to mine, with the eye details intact.

5. Create a new layer and place it above the blur layer.

Let's name the current layer “Texture” and change the blending mode to Harsh light(Hard Light). The existing layer will be used to add texture to the skin as well as adjust skin tone.

6. The texture created in this layer will not really be noticeable in the final image.

It can be seen if you apply a high magnification. But, despite this, the skin will not look too smooth or "plastic".

Below is a prototype of the result obtained.

7. Make sure you have the “Texture” layer selected.

Click on Shift + F5 or go to the list Editing> Fill(Edit - Fill). Set the Fill tool settings as in the picture below.

8. Next, select from the menu Filter> Noise.

This will add a subtle noise to the image and avoid the “plastic skin effect”. Applying a filter can make your photo look too harsh. In the next step, we will fix this by applying a filter Gaussian blur(Gaussian Blur).

9. Choose from the menu Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur.

Set the blur radius to 1 pixel.

10. Now we will take a color swatch from this layer.

First, select the Eyedropper tool. Take a sample of the color of the skin, which seems more suitable for you, it may not be entirely accurate, since we will radically adjust the color later. In the color picker, click on the midget triangle in the circle and select a model from the pop-up list HSB... We need to know the HSB values for the next step.

11. Open the panel Hue / Saturation, by pressing Ctrl + U.

Check the box Tint and check the parameters to match the parameters HSB from the top step.

12. Select the "Airbrush" group in the layers panel.

Then we go to the menu Layer> Layer Mask> Hide All(Layer - Layer mask - Hide all).

This will create a layer mask filled with black, which will hide the entire group. In this layer mask, we will paint the areas where we want to add touch-up.

13. Press D on your keyboard to set the default background colors to black and white.

Select a tool Brush with the following settings.

Zoom in to 100% and paint over the skin. Don't worry if your skin tone doesn't seem right. This is because we did not choose the exact color when we used Hue / Saturation with a tint on the Texture layer. Simply, then it is very difficult to accomplish. We will come to the correct result a little later. Use the following hotkeys photoshop To change the brush size and hardness:
* Reducing brush size: [
* Increase brush size:] * Decrease brush softness by 25%: Shift + [
* Multiply the softness of the brush by 25%: Shift +]

Where you painted over the skin, your layer mask should have white areas and the skin should look smooth.

14. Now we're going to fix the skin color.

We talked about this before in this tutorial on retouching skin in Photoshop. So select the "Texture" layer and click Ctrl + U... Change the settings to get a normal skin tone.

V " Color tone”The settings are usually correct. But I increased it by 10 units, adding a yellow tint to reduce the red areas.
Settings " Saturation”Often have to be significantly reduced. Adjust the setting until the skin tone looks good but not pale.
Brightness”On the contrary, it requires minor changes, when you adjust it, you will see how sensitive this parameter is. If the Brightness is fine-tuned, the photo will look more natural.

15. Let's restore the details of the skin.

Let's go to the list Image> External Channel(Image - Apply Image). In the window that appears, set the following settings.

Final results.

Here you can see the final photo after applying the airbrush technique.

As you change the range of the image, you will notice that the slight unevenness of the skin is still visible. Even in the lower right image, the result looks natural due to the Texture layer. Outside of this layer, the image would appear as a solid color without noise.

It is a very painstaking work during processing photos... The Internet is crammed with tons of different professional tutorials on portrait retouching in Photoshop which deals with many technical aspects such as conservation skin texture, giving naturalness, preserving small details of the face, etc.

But I noticed two problems: either the lesson is designed for professionals who devote a lot of time ( from 3-6 hours and more) for processing, or the lesson is not “good enough”, because after processing it turns out a plastic face, an unnatural look of the model.

In this article I would like to find " the golden mean“, Namely: fast, simple, high-quality retouching that does not take a lot of effort and time, while with a phenomenal end result.

For processing, I chose this female portrait (be sure to click on the photo below to enlarge, so the result will be better seen before and after):

And here is what happened as a result:

What will be done in this lesson?

1. Small skin cleansing(moles, blemishes, black spots on the nose, etc.). By the way, it is not at all necessary to remove moles, this should be done only in agreement with the model!

2. with preservation of the texture of the skin. The texture of the skin is usually understood as its roughness, fine hairs, relief, etc.

4. Anti-aliasing / Removal wrinkles.

5. There were few processed hair.

Also, several actions were taken to giving volume: creating a vignette, concentrating lighting on the model's face, working out light and dark areas of the skin.

It seems that there is quite a lot of work to be done, but in fact the retouching took me no more 15 minutes, as you can see by watching the video at the end of the article. By the way, during the work you will need to apply the plugin, if you do not have it yet, I advise.

ATTENTION!!! Before starting work, be sure to check video by this processing at the end of the article.

Getting started in Adobe photoshop

1. The first thing that usually begins retouching face- cleaning the skin from various defects. To do this, open the photo in Photoshop and immediately duplicate the layer(press right click mouse on layer -> Duplicate Layer), we do not touch the original, so that in the future it will always be possible to return to its original position. Choosing a tool Spot Healing Brush Tool(Spot Healing Brush, button J on the keyboard) with the following settings:

The first value ( diameter) expose as needed, i.e. for large defects, set a higher value, and for small ones, for example, if you want get rid of blackheads on the nose, set the value to a smaller one. Rigidity ( Hardness) be sure to put 100% . Spacing leave within 10-15% .

Once you have set up the tool, go over the blemishes of the face. If you didn't manage to remove something the first time (for example, a mole), try pressing it several times, or change the Diameter or Spacing values to your liking.

2. After cleansing the skin of the face, we proceed to the initial retouching. We will use two methods - standard Photoshop filters and a plugin Color Efex Pro... The main task is to save skin texture, prevent the effect of plastic on the face.

So, choose a tool History brush tool(Historical brush, button Y on keyboard). Go to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur(Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur) and set the value Radius v 30 pixels. Click OK. After that, your image should be completely blurred. Now you need to open the panel History(History, if you cannot find it, click on the Windows -> History label at the top of Photoshop) and click once on the square next to the Gaussian Blur label to make the tool icon appear. After that, you need to go one step higher to get it like this:

Made? Fine! Tool settings ( top left) we expose the following:

I took the size of the brush 65 ppi(you can choose to taste as you like). Mode: Normal and transparency ( Opacity) exposed 15% so as not to overdo it (remember that the main task is to preserve skin texture).

As soon as everything is ready, we begin to gently pass the brush across the face, without touching eyes, mouth, eyebrows... In order to remove glare from the face, you need to set in the brush settings (top left) Mode(mode) on Darken(replacement with dark). In this case, transparency can be set 30% .

After all these steps, you can already see a good improvement in the skin of the face compared to the original (first layer). Now let's move on to the second stage of smoothing the skin. To do this, we need, as I wrote above, the Color Efex Pro plugin. We go into it and look for a filter called Dynamic skin softener... From the name of the filter, it is clear that the plugin is aimed specifically at softening the skin. We do not touch the settings (although you can turn the sliders to taste, but I preferred to leave it as it is for better preservation skin texture), leave everything as standard and click OK:

As you can see, this plugin softened the skin on the face a little, but did not kill it. details... If you have a very strong softening effect, you can reduce the opacity of the layer to about 75% ... Keep in mind that the plugin has an effect on the entire image, and we need it to apply the effect only to the skin of the face. For this we take the usual soft edged eraser(key E on the keyboard) and pass it through the hair, mouth, eyes and eyebrows so that they do not "soften" with us, this effect is absolutely unnecessary on them. We connect this layer to the bottom one.

Do not forget to connect your layer to the bottom one after you have gone through it with an eraser and removed the "excess".

This completes our retouching of the skin, now you can work a little with the rest of the face, for example, whiten the teeth, treat the eyes and add a little beauty to the hair.

For teeth whitening I applied my own method, which I already talked about in. It consists in the following:

Go to the Color Efex Pro plugin and select a filter White Neutralizer, set all values to 100%

Below, in paragraph Control Points click on the button with the "plus" sign (highlighted in red in the picture above) and click once in the teeth, ie we put a "point". After that, drag on the gray circle (highlighted in red in the image below), making it so that the total field of action of the plugin decreases and captures only the teeth

By the way, you can put such points and before our eyes, to whiten the eyeball... Click OK. As you can see, the plug-in whitened the teeth and a little of the eyes, but a slightly noticeable white area appeared around them. To remove it, take a soft edged eraser and clean the area around the eyes and teeth.

By the way, since we have moved on to processing the eyes, you can work on them in more detail. The photo shows that it would not hurt remove vessels and add a little expressiveness to the eyes... In order to remove the vessels, we take the tool Spot Healing Brush Tool(Spot Healing Brush, key J on the keyboard), set the size at the top left to about 5px (or, if necessary, I chose such a small size to remove just small vessels), Hardness(stiffness) and Spacing(Interval) leave it as it is (100% and 10%, respectively) and begin to carefully pass the brush over the vessels.

If you are not very comfortable using this tool (Spot Healing Brush) and the vessels are not completely eliminated, you can try taking Clone stamp tool(Clone stamp, key S on keyboard). Turn on this tool, set the hardness to 0% and the size as needed, by the way, sometimes it is useful to set Opacity(transparency) of the brush approximately 60-70% for the best effect. Hold the key Alt, you will see how your mouse cursor will change to "crosshair", click once without releasing Alt next to the vessel that you want to eliminate and then go over it with a brush. You will see how the vessel is replaced by the adjacent texture of the eyeball.

What else can you do for your eyes? For example, add "colors" and saturation, which of course will change its color, but not much. There are thousands of ways to do this, I personally did the following in this tutorial: open Color Efex Pro, look for a filter Photo Stylizer... We set the value Strenght on the 100% and just like last time, we put "dots" on the eyes and reduce the plug-in's field of action so that it covers only the eye area. Made? Fine! Do not forget to go around the eyes with the eraser after that and remove unnecessary areas.

to finish eye treatment, can be strengthened shine... We take the tool Dodge tool(Clarifier, key O on the keyboard), set the following values for it:

I chose the size of the brush 65, but you can choose any one as needed. Range(Range) set Hightlights(Light), Exposure(Strength) we expose 15% (although you can also taste it) and go through with a brush along glare in the eyes, thereby enhancing their "glow".

With the eyes finished, now it would not hurt to remove small wrinkles next to them, I described how to do this in more detail in. We take the tool Path tool(Patch, key J on the keyboard) and carefully outline the wrinkles. As soon as we have a selection, click on it and, without releasing it, move a little lower, to a clean area of the skin. It should look something like this:

After you release the left mouse button, you will see that wrinkles disappeared... If the first time you did not succeed in removing them to the end, you can try to repeat this action. repeatedly... Also, after such processing there may be a feeling of unnaturalness, i.e. this area of skin will stand out strongly. It can be retouch just as we did it with the entire skin of the face using the History Brush Tool just above.

As I wrote above, in this portrait, you can also add beauty to the hair. To do this, open Color Efex Pro and select a filter Glamor glow... Set the settings as in the picture and click OK:

Now take a soft edged eraser and run it over the face to leave the effect only on the hair. By the way, you can add a bit of sharpness, because the filter has smeared the hair a little. To do this, go to Filter -> Sharpen -> Sharpen(Filters -> Sharpness -> Sharpness) and you will see how the hair has become sharper. We connect this layer to the bottom one.

By the way, since we're talking about sharpness, it wouldn't hurt after such processing add sharpness on the whole image. To do this, take the tool Sharpen Tool(Sharpness), at the top left, decrease the force by about 80% and brush over the eyes, eyebrows, mouth. You can also reduce the strength to about 50% and go all over the skin of the face, thereby emphasizing the texture of the skin.

FINALIZATION

At the end of the treatment, you can give volume photographs, i.e. highlight light / dark areas of the skin on the face, as well as direct a small beam of light onto the model's face using the Darken / Lighten Center filter.

First, select the lighter areas of the skin using the tool Dodge tool(Clarifier). I set the following settings:

Range(Range) set Shadows(Shadows) Exposure(Strength) we expose 50% and lightly go over the lighter areas of the skin, making them lighter.

After that we take the tool Burn tool(Dimmer) with the same settings, only set the power 10% and we are already going through the dark areas of the skin of the face.

At the end of the processing, one more detail can be made, this is to add a spot of light to the face, which will add even more volume to the photo. Go to the Color Efex Pro plugin and find the filter Darken / Lighten Center... Set the settings like this and click OK:

That's basically it! Before / after treatment you can see at the very beginning of the article. Below I provide a video clip with all the actions that I described above.

In fact, there was still a lot to do here, add various effects, makeup, etc., but I described only the basics of what facial retouching consists of. With fast work progress, you can keep within 5-10 minutes time, depending on the complexity and dirtiness of the model's skin. By the way, if you are interested in a complex one, you can read about it in. And if processing is interesting male portrait, .

Retouching a photo in Photoshop means removing skin irregularities and imperfections, reducing oily sheen, if any, as well as general image correction (light and shadow, color correction).

Open the photo and create a duplicate of the layer.

Processing a portrait in Photoshop begins with neutralizing the oily sheen. Create an empty layer and change its Blending Mode to "Blackout".

Then we choose soft "Brush" and set it up as in the screenshots.

Holding down the key ALT, we take a sample of the color in the photo. We choose the most average shade, that is, not the darkest and not the lightest.

Now paint over the glitter areas on the layer we just created. At the end of the process, you can play with the transparency of the layer if it suddenly seems that the effect is too strong.

Tip: it is advisable to perform all actions at 100% photo scale.

The next step is the elimination of large defects. Create a copy of all layers with a keyboard shortcut CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + E... Then select the tool Healing Brush... Set the brush size to about 10 pixels.

Hold down the key ALT and take a sample of the skin as close to the defect as possible, and then click on the unevenness (pimple or freckle).

Thus, we remove all irregularities from the model's skin, including from the neck, and from other open areas.
Wrinkles are also removed in the same way.

Apply a filter to the top layer Surface Blur.

With sliders we achieve smoothness of the skin, just do not overdo it, the main contours of the face should not be affected. If minor defects have not disappeared, it is better to apply the filter again (repeat the procedure).

Apply the filter by clicking "OK" and add a black mask to the layer. To do this, select the main black color, hold down the key ALT and press the button Add Vector Mask.

Now select a soft white brush, set the opacity and pressure to no more than 40% and go through the problem areas of the skin, achieving the desired effect.

If the result seems unsatisfactory, then the procedure can be repeated by creating a merged copy of the layers with the combination CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + E, and then applying the same technique (copy of the layer, Surface Blur, black mask, etc.).

As you can see, along with the defects, we destroyed the natural texture of the skin, turning it into "Soap". This is where the name layer comes in handy. "Texture".

Again create a merged copy of the layers and drag the layer "Texture" on top of all.

Apply a filter to the layer "Colour contrast".

Using the slider, we achieve the development of only the smallest details of the image.

Desaturate the layer by pressing the combination CTRL + SHIFT + U, and change the blending mode for it to "Overlapping".

If the effect is too strong, then simply reduce the opacity of the layer.

The model's skin now looks more natural.
