Today we will sew a dress. Agree that adding to your collection of dresses is always good. And if this dress is sewn with your own hands, then it is doubly pleasant (the thing turns out to be exclusive) and useful (for your budget).
So let's begin. I opted for a dress with a flounce at the bottom (also called a trampoline dress). It can be a fitted silhouette or loose. Looks equally good with any shoes. In general, it’s not a dress, but sheer pleasure.
We prepare the pattern. In general, it’s good if you have a basic pattern in your bins that fits your figure well, from which, if necessary, you can “draw” a dress of any style. You can make the pattern yourself or take it from a magazine. It is better to sew a so-called sample for the first time - a product made from inexpensive fabric (in order to see how the pattern fits the figure and where to make corrections).
As a basis, I took the proven pattern No. 114 from Burda magazine No. 11/2015.
We are making a number of adjustments. Raise the shoulder line.
Changing the neckline.
We leave the darts on the back open for a looser silhouette; We will not make the zippers provided in the magazine (although if you have non-elastic fabric and a dress that fits your figure, it is better to make a zipper in the side seam). Reduce in length.
We expand it at the bottom and add a shuttlecock. That's all the wisdom.
Cutting out the details. 
Don’t forget to provide a facing – we fold the front part and the back part cut out with seam allowances to the fold of the fabric, outline the neckline and complete the facing with a width of 4-5 cm. It is important that the front/back part coincides with the part on the facing. This will not cause distortions. (There are no lobes on knitwear; we follow the direction of stretching of the fabric).
The facing should perfectly match the neckline.
At the same time, we cut the same facing from non-woven fabric/doublerin. This is necessary so that in the future our facing will protect the neck from stretching.
How to duplicate correctly:
turn on the no-steam mode; do not move the iron from side to side, but press on the part from above; use an ironing iron (thin fabric of “natural origin” (cotton, linen), which will be located between the iron and the facing).
Sew the chest darts and iron them upwards. We process the side cuts of the shelf and back using an overlocker.
We process the shoulder sections using an overlocker and sew them together. We process the edges of the sleeves using an overlocker.
We sew the sleeve into the open armhole and overlay it. We turn the bottom of the sleeves twice and stitch them (or hem them with a hidden seam). Sew along the side seam with a single line from the edge of the hem to the edge of the sleeve.
We sew the facing on one side, getting an open ring. We process the outer edge using an overlocker and sew it into a ring. Sew the facing to the neckline.
At the junction of the shoulder seams, we cut off excess fabric to avoid unnecessary seals. And in general, for a better fit, the facing seams can be cut down to 3 mm or oblique notches/triangular cuts can be made (precisely according to the facing seam allowances, without affecting the neck allowances).
We turn the facing inside out and stitch along it, stepping back literally 2-3 mm from the seam line.
To prevent the facing from peeking out, we sew it to the dress with a hidden stitch. Don't forget to iron it well.
Now we prepare the shuttlecock. Sew it into a ring. We put a mark in the middle and along one edge on both sides of it we lay a line (in the widest increments). We do not cut the threads at the beginning and at the end, leaving long tails. Pulling them, we shave the bottom half of the shuttlecock to the size of the shelf, the other to the size of the back.
We distribute the assembly evenly along the entire length and baste it. Here basting is required if you want to get an even assembly. In principle, basting never hurts, but sometimes (depending on your “sewing dexterity”) you can do without it.
We do not iron the gathering, or iron it so as not to touch the folds with the iron.
We sew and process it using an overlocker. We hem the bottom of the shuttlecock by hand or with a double hem. In the place where the seam is hemmed, it is better to cut off its seam allowances close to the stitching to avoid unnecessary layers of fabric.
Iron it thoroughly and our dress is ready. Can be worn with a belt or loosely.
