To make a wedding money box you will need (1):

  • Box from under the shoes of the right size (any other cardboard box of the desired configuration);

Step 1. Paste the box with paper (2)

In our example, we use wine-colored designer paper (Marsala), paper weight 130 g/m2, sheet size 50*70 cm, matte surface. We have chosen a box that is suitable in size for the sheet, so that the paper is glued to the box with one single sheet. We put our shoe box on a sheet, try on the sides and mark the cuts. Having made cuts, we make folds along the box and gently smoothing glue the paper to the box with PVA glue.


The lid is pasted over last, and the excess paper is cut off with scissors after the entire surface and folds of the lid are pasted over with paper. Thus, after pasting the box with paper, we get a cardboard box with a wine-colored lid - a blank for decorating a chest for money for a wedding.

Comment: thin paper should not be used - it will deform under the action of glue (soak), which will lead to an uneven relief of the surface of the box. It will be impossible to hide such shortcomings.

Step 2 Style the Box (3)

Just a color box is just a box of a specific color. To make it a wedding, it must be decorated accordingly. Lace ribbon is perfect for this. To give the width of the design, we will glue the lace ribbon to the lid of the box in 2 rows, and close the seam between the ribbons with a thin ivory satin ribbon (milky delicate color).


We find the middle of the box lid, draw a line with a pencil. We cut off the tape with sufficient length to stick it on the fold of the box lid. Glue the lace tape along its edges. It is better to glue the tape with the flat side to the line, and the curly side out. Then we glue a thin satin ribbon over the outlined line.

As a result, we got a cardboard wine box with a lace decor on the lid. It remains only to give it a solemn look.

Step 3. Fasten the bow and decorate with pearls

Bow. In a store that sells satin and lace ribbons, you can buy a ready-made bow. You can also make a bow yourself. This is not difficult. We take a thin satin ribbon, tie it into a bow and cut the edges diagonally. The edges should be melted - for example, with an open fire or glued with glue so that the thread does not fray. Also, the bow can additionally be decorated in the center, for example, with a heart or a brooch.

Glue the bow exactly in the middle of the lid of our chest (4).


It turns out quite a beautiful box for money, but we have not finished decorating it yet. To give it a finished look, we will additionally decorate it with pearls (5). We will use semi-pearls (a hemisphere, glued on a flat base, as a result it visually seems that the box is encrusted with pearls), which we will decorate the lace ribbon, which will create an imitation of the bride's wedding dress.


At the very end, we tie a pearl thread to the bow and leave two hanging ends so that everyone can see it. Our wedding money box is ready!


The cost of such a box for money is quite small, decor elements can be bought at any department store in the needlework department, and you can find the rest at home. In time, it took about 2-3 hours to finish and decorate.

Manufacturing process:

1. We coat the 11x11 squares with glue and stick them on the 13x13 squares, retreating from the edges by 1 cm.

2. Now we cut the corners of the large square at an angle of 45 degrees, retreating from the smaller square 2-3 mm

3. Bend and glue the edges of the bottom square.


4. On a pink rectangle 10.2x26.5 we apply markings at a distance of 2.1x10.1x2.1x10.1x2.1 (see photo below) and bend according to the markings

We glue the end parts together.

6. We take a square 18x18 cm and mark up (2x2x10x2x2 cm) from left to right, and then from top to bottom; cut off the unnecessary at the intersections of the lines, make an incision

If there is no finished box, use the template to cut out the blank from cardboard, then glue it and proceed to further work:

  1. With a pencil, mark a semicircular outline on the side faces and cut off the excess.
  2. Cut off the front edge flush with the bottom point of the round part.
  3. Using a ruler, wash the lid every centimeter so that it acquires a semicircular shape. In length, it should be such that it slightly overlaps the top of the front face. If the length is not enough, then it can be "increased" with the help of cardboard and glue.
  4. On the sides of the lid, use masking tape to glue the elements cut out of cardboard, semicircular on one side and straight on the other.
  5. Glue all the edges of the chest with masking tape.
  6. In the lid, make a hole for money about 5-7 mm wide, no more than 15 cm long.

If a hand-made chest will be used after the wedding, for example, for storing family photos or memorabilia, then it should be done with a lock. To do this, in the part of the lid that overlaps, also cut a hole, and in the same place on the front side, attach a metal or cardboard loop with a slot for a lock. If the chest is disposable, then the lid can simply be glued, in which case the box does not need to be decorated from the inside.







Wrapping

No matter how beautiful the base is, in its original form it is not suitable for a wedding, so the box needs to be covered. This can be done using various materials:

Volume upholstery
