How to make a cardboard box with your own hands: diagram, template, master class, photo. How to make a cardboard box with a lid, round, heart, rectangular, triangular, square, flat with your own hands? # 30 Gift box for New Year's cupcake.

Do you like to make gifts with your own hands? Looking for new packaging ideas? Now you will learn how to make a cardboard box with your own hands. The diagrams given in the text can be printed and used unchanged. If you love to add something of your own, customize them as desired.

Which shape to choose

You may never have guessed how easy and quick it is to make a cardboard box with your own hands. Schemes and blanks are very different, respectively, and the final configuration of the products is very different. It is often said that beautiful packaging is already half of the gift. If you want to surprise with your souvenir, come up with an unusual box shape. At the same time, not even additionally decorated, but simply made from a colored sheet, the packaging will look spectacular.

In the case when you do not want the attention to be distracted by the packaging, but you just need it for safety and ease of transportation, the usual shape in the form of a cube or parallelepiped will suffice. However, it is worth considering that you are preparing for the holiday, so it is good to add beautiful decor to the usual configuration. Any of the options can be used, and it will not be difficult to make a box according to a ready-made template, even if you have never done it.

What is required

You need to prepare the following so that you get a beautiful do-it-yourself cardboard box:

  • Schemes, or, as they are also called, sweeps.
  • Cardboard (white, colored, decorative).
  • Printer or if you will build the template yourself.
  • Scissors or knife.
  • Knitting needle, non-writing pen or similar tool to draw invisible grooves along future fold lines.
  • Glue or heat gun.
  • Decorative items (satin ribbons, stickers, bows, flowers).

As you can see, the work on creating beautiful packaging will not cause much trouble. No complicated adaptations are needed. If you do not have a thermal gun and a printer, it is quite possible to do without them, using the self-construction of a scan of the box with a pencil and a ruler and gluing with ordinary PVA or a quick fixing compound.

Manufacturing technology

Consider how a cardboard gift box is made. The scheme of work will be as follows:

  1. Find the template that suits your configuration.
  2. Print it on a printer either directly on a large cardboard format, if possible, or on paper sheets, which you can then glue and transfer the template to a cardboard blank. The most convenient way, of course, is to work with boxes, the sweeps of which fit on A3 or even A4 format. This is usually the maximum capability of a standard home printer.
  3. So, here is a packaging template obtained in any way. Cut it out of the sheet along the contour and make cuts in the right places where the gluing will take place.
  4. Take the knitting needle or the tool that you have prepared and draw it along all the lines where the folds will be. It is better to do this on the back side, and not on the front. In professional slang, this operation is called creasing, and in printing houses it is, of course, performed by a machine. These grooves prevent the cardboard from creasing during folding, i.e. folding. So do not neglect it, otherwise the box may turn out to be sloppy and deformed.
  5. Make folds along the appropriate guidelines.
  6. Glue the volumetric shape from a flat workpiece.
  7. Decorate the package with satin ribbon ties, a bow, or something else.

DIY cardboard box: diagrams

Square packaging is the most commonly used. There are different options, both solid and consisting of two parts - a base and a cover. It's easier to make boxes out of one piece. Such a package can be closed with strings or with a cardboard "tongue" that goes into a slot in the opposite part of the box. Below is a simple cube-shaped packaging option.

As you can see, the base of the sweep is a square. The top of the product looks like a "roof" in the assembled state. A pretty ribbon can be used to secure the four top pieces together.

DIY cardboard box: simple but unusual schemes

If you want to customize your packaging, use one of the following models. The first photo shows the simplest version. It is very easy to make as there are only four folds to be made. At the top, the box is assembled due to the slot and the fastening element included in it.

If you have a triangular shaped souvenir, use the following packaging. Unfolding, although it looks quite complicated, the assembly is quick and easy. The main thing is to carefully make the fold lines. The gluing elements are small, made in the form of triangles.

According to the following template, a beautiful rounded cardboard box can be made with your own hands. The diagram is also simple and straightforward. The most important thing is to draw the arcuate fold lines evenly. It depends on how neatly the shape of the package will fold.

How to decorate the box

You have figured out the technology for creating the base, but just a white package will not work for a gift. It should complement and decorate your souvenir. You can turn an ordinary box into a masterpiece of artistic skill in the following ways:

  • Choose beautiful cardboard or thick paper (design or for children's creativity). Sheets are metallized, mother-of-pearl with embossing, patterns and other decor options.
  • Cut out the second roll of the box from thin wrapping paper or other paper used in arts and crafts, and glue it on top of the base. This option is suitable when you need to make a box of very thick cardboard, which cannot be found with a decorative surface.
  • Apply drawings or patterns to the box with paints using a brush, stencils, stickers, decoupage napkins.
  • If you own high-level computer graphic editors, you can come up with your own design of the box, complementing the selected outline before printing with any images, including photorealistic ones, for example, even with the birthday boy himself. The one to whom you present such a gift will definitely be surprised. It should only be borne in mind that if you are going to print on colored cardboard, all your pictures will acquire the appropriate shade, so you will either have to perform color correction of the blank, or not use colors that cannot be changed (portrait photos).

There are as many options for decorating the product as there are possible schematics. It is good to combine different ideas.

So, you saw how easy it is to make a cardboard box with your own hands. The above diagrams are easy to use to create beautiful packaging for a souvenir for any occasion. By scaling the templates, you can make boxes of different sizes that are the same in shape. Create, decorate, surprise your friends and relatives with your skills.

The article will tell you how you can do it yourself and use a cardboard box. Here you will find templates and master classes for making boxes of different shapes.

  • Hot glue (you can, of course, use any other, but hot is preferable to the extent of its rapid drying and strong bonding of the material).
  • Template (with the help of it you can understand exactly how you should cut, fold and glue the material).
  • Scissors and pencil - for basting, cutting. This is necessary in order for your product to look neat and aesthetically pleasing.

Idea 3. Puppets or just dolls with moving parts

Making a cardboard puppet is very easy and fun. You just need to draw the details of the little man, cut them out and fasten them with mini-pins (sold in scrapbooking stores).

  • Instead of special fasteners, you can use a thin wire (for example, for beading). Just cut a piece of wire 2 cm long, thread it through the holes of the parts and twist its ends from the front and back sides as shown in the photo on the right. You can also use metal rings as fasteners.

If you want the figurine to become a real puppet, then you can:

  • Connect the arms and legs with a single thread, as shown in the photo below, or with two threads (one thread connects the legs, and the other connects the arms).
  • Tie a string to each arm and leg, then tie all 4 ropes to the ends of the sticks folded crosswise. An example of such a puppet is shown in the following photo.

Idea 4. Finger puppets

Finger puppets are made even easier and faster: a small figure is drawn, then two holes are cut out in its lower part. Woo-ala, the first "actor" for the puppet theater is ready! In the next selection of photos, you can glean some ideas for finger puppets.

Idea 5. Land, air, water and space transport

A car, plane, bus, ship, boat or rocket made of cardboard is no worse than one bought in a store. After all, making such a toy with your own hands with your parents already seems like a fun adventure. And when the cardboard vehicle gets bored, it can be used to make other toys and crafts.

Idea 6. Kitchenette

If you have a couple of square-shaped boxes, why not make a mini-cooker and a sink out of them?

You can make a refrigerator from one rectangular elongated box.

If there is enough space in the room, a washing machine can also complement the kitchen.

For a master class on how to make a cardboard craft in the form of kitchen furniture, see the next video.

Idea 7. Toy equipment and household items

Do you need props for role-playing games or things for arranging a cardboard house? We suggest making them out of cardboard with your own hands.

Idea 8. Fancy dress

Is there a matinee or a performance in kindergarten or school? Or is it just that your little one loves transformation? You can make an amazing outfit out of cardboard. Here are photo examples of cardboard fancy dress for boys.

And here are photo examples of cardboard costumes for girls.

Idea 9. Bookmarks for books

For making bookmarks, it is better to use not too thick colored cardboard, and in order for the craft to last as long as possible, it should be laminated with transparent tape.

Idea 10. Aquarium with fish

Cut off the lids of a cardboard box and paint the inside of it in blue-blue tones, if desired, decorate the aquarium with applications made of plasticine, glitter, colored paper, etc. Cut 3-5 holes along the top of the box and pass through each hole along the thread. Next, cut 3-5 fish out of colored paper. Attach a large button (from the outside of the aquarium) and a fish to each thread. That's all, the aquarium is ready.

Idea 11. Town in a box

You just need to trim the sides of the box and paint on the inside and ... voila! You get a city with roads, with which the child will play for hours, moving cars and figures of little people.

Idea 12. Volumetric corrugated cardboard toys using quilling technique

Volumetric crafts can be "wound" using the quilling technique from corrugated cardboard. Having mastered the skill of forming various shapes, the child will be able to experiment with shapes and colors and even create figures of his favorite cartoon characters.

Materials and tools:

  • Cardboard box;
  • Tracing paper or white tissue paper;
  • Black cardboard (you can paint ordinary cardboard with a thick layer of black paint);
  • White pencil;
  • Wooden skewers, straws, or wire;
  • Scotch tape and / or glue;
  • Scissors;
  • Stationery knife.

Step 1. First, we need to make the building of the theater. To do this, cut off the lids from the box, and then cut out its bottom.

Step 2. Cut a piece of tracing paper that is larger in relation to the box. Gently glue it to the sides of the theater with a slight tension, as shown in the photo.

Step 4. Now it's time to cut out the characters of the future show from black cardboard. Keep in mind that the more detailed the silhouette of the figure is, the more realistic the shadow theater will be. Therefore, it is best to draw figures using templates found on the Internet and printed.

Step 5. The shadow theater is almost ready, all that remains is to glue the figures to wooden skewers or wires. You can glue them as shown in the photo below or perpendicular to make it easier to control the characters.

Do you want to learn how to make gift boxes with your own hands ?! In this review, we will present to your attention as many as 25 ideas for their manufacture.

Below you will find a wide variety of examples of gift boxes that you can make yourself without special skills. Well, the result will be an exclusive copy of the packaging for the selected gift. Moreover, even if you follow the instructions in this review step by step, your box can still be considered exclusive. Since in any case for its manufacture you will use your materials (paper, cardboard, ribbons, rhinestones, buttons), which will differ in color and texture from those presented in a particular master class. Well, let's get started.

How to make a gift box with your own hands.

1. Small box house.

You need to print on beautiful paper, the template below. As a last resort, you can try to redraw it by hand. Then the workpiece must be cut and folded along all the dotted lines. At the bottom of the box, you need to create two slots with a clerical knife, into which the tape should be inserted. It remains to glue the house, cut out two rectangles for the roof from a suitable paper tone, fold each of them 1 cm, and also make slots in each of them (see photo). Insert a ribbon into these slots, put the gift inside, and tie the ribbon on top in the form of a bow.

2. Round cardboard box.

It is necessary to cut 4 circles out of porous packing cardboard, two of them should be slightly larger than the other two. Cut out two strips from the beer cardboard to the size of the circles, with a margin for overlap, one wide, the other narrow. Glue 2 large circles together using double-sided tape or glue of the moment, then glue the remaining 2 circles separately. We will create the base of the box from smaller circles, for this we apply a transparent moment on the sides of the mug, glue a strip of cardboard here, for strength, another strip can be glued on top of this strip. We do the same with the lid, glue a narrow cardboard strip around the perimeter of a large circle. You can create a bow from the ribbon, for this we cut the ribbon in half, glue its ends to the inside of the lid, and tie the remaining ends from above in the form of a bow.

3. Cake made of felt and a plastic container.

You must purchase a round plastic container with a lid. Cut strips out of felt in width and length comparable to the side of the container. We glue the felt with double-sided tape. Glue a round piece of felt fabric onto the lid. We glue the lace braid along the bottom and top of the "cake". On the top of the lid, we glue the braid in the form of flowers, and create roses from cotton pads. How to make such, see the photo below. In the center of the cake, you can glue two or three felt strawberries stuffed with padding polyester. It remains to put the gift inside and the present can be given to the person being gifted.

4. Box using origami technique.

Such a box is made quite simply, but it looks very presentable. Especially if you take beautiful thick paper as a basis, for example, from a scrapbooking kit. We described in detail how to make a gift box using this technique in.

5. Box in the form of a flower bud.

We print the template below on suitable paper (although, however, it can be redrawn by hand). Cut out the workpiece, and along the dotted lines create folds using a ruler. We turn the workpiece over to the right side, and slightly tint it around the edges with a foam sponge and a stamping pad (you can just use ink). We put the present inside and collect the "petals" from above (see photo).

6. Box in the form of carrots.

Such packaging is ideal for New Year and Easter celebrations. For its manufacture, plain orange paper or imitating the skin of natural carrots is suitable (you can search in the departments for creativity). We described in detail how to make such a "carrot" in.

7. A neat box with a bow.

It is necessary to print the template published below on suitable paper. A non-writing pen or running tool must run through the dotted lines. Along these lines, you need to create folds, put the gift inside and close. To prevent the box from "falling apart", it must be tied with a ribbon, tying a bow on top.

8. Square box.

We print out the templates below. On the side parts, where the "wings", you can make marks with a pencil, and create folds along them. Similar folds must be made in the center of the box and lid. We glue the box and the lid separately from each other, using the glue of the moment applied to the wings. At the end, the box can be decorated with glued sheets of pretty paper, as well as cute braid.

9. A box in the form of a Lego detail.

11. Closing box.

In order to creatively decorate the room of the apartment, as well as add individuality to it, you can make furniture out of cardboard with your own hands, the patterns and schemes are so simple that even a beginner can make products. A variety of options will allow you to choose the desired piece of furniture and make it, involving all family members in the process.

At first glance, you might think that cardboard is a fragile material that requires special handling. On the one hand, this is correct, on the other hand, having chosen the required type of cardboard, you can not worry about its further use. Furniture made of cardboard will be durable and practical if you follow the sequence of work and recommendations for the use of tools.

To choose an option for self-manufacturing of a furniture product, you need to consider several proposals:

  1. Toy furniture made of cardboard - it is profitable and creative to make furniture for dolls yourself. If the children require the purchase of a new house for Barbie with all the accompanying accessories, the solution will be to produce such an option with their own hands;
  2. Shelves for books are considered one of the simplest cardboard products. It does not take much time to make them, and books do not put a lot of stress on the cardboard;
  3. The original table will not be a dining table, on which dishes are constantly located, but a small coffee or coffee table. On such a piece of furniture, the child can perform developmental tasks, because it is designed for a small load;
  4. Chest of drawers - it is convenient to fold documents or papers into such furniture, children's accessories will also fit here. It is easier to make a chest of drawers from cardboard boxes from large equipment, for example, a refrigerator;
  5. Rack for shoes - an original stand for shoes in the form of triangular cells will fit into any hallway. Entering the room, all guests will be surprised how convenient and practical the rack is;
  6. Small chair for children - since cardboard is not designed for heavy loads, furniture for children is what you need. A small chair for the baby will become his favorite subject, where he can draw or play.

As you can see, cardboard furniture is lightweight. To make it, you need the simplest material and a minimum of tools.

Shoe rack

Toy

Required materials and tools

Regardless of what type of furniture is chosen for self-production, the list of materials will remain the same. This necessarily includes the main raw material - cardboard.

To make the products durable, you should give preference to three-layer cardboard. The quality of the material can be checked on the cut.

If a single-layer analog was purchased in advance, do not be upset. From this option, it turns out well to make a dollhouse and furniture for dolls. If you use it for work on real furniture, you need to glue several layers of cardboard to make it more durable.

List of materials and tools for work:

  • Scotch tape - it is better to purchase paper, regular and double-sided;
  • Stationery or sharp construction knife;
  • Scissors;
  • Roulette and long ruler;
  • Pencil and stationery;
  • Sandpaper - for cleaning sections;
  • Kraft paper;
  • Glue - depending on the type of cardboard, you may need PVA, hot glue or Moment.

If all of the listed materials and fixtures are prepared, it is worth moving on to the manufacture of the selected furniture. Experienced cardboard craftsmen recommend that beginners choose simple jobs to start, for example, shelves or a table.

In order for DIY furniture at home to turn out not only beautiful, but durable, a number of rules should be followed. They will help you make quality products that will appeal to all household members:

  1. Bonding Layers - When working with single ply cardboard or to reinforce furniture, the material must be bonded. When gluing cardboard together, try to lay the layers perpendicular to each other - this is how they give increased rigidity;
  2. The choice of glue - people who have already made furniture from this material are advised to use Moment glue. It does not get wet after application and instantly bonds the details of the products. You can also purchase a glue gun and thermal sticks, which melt when heated, creating a glue mark;
  3. Why do you need kraft paper - kraft paper is used to paste over the edges and joints of furniture. With this move, the furniture looks neater. Before pasting, the joints are cleaned with sandpaper. It must be remembered that the paper must not be cut - it must be torn by hand. So the layers will become smooth, without transitions;
  4. Features of cutting - during the manufacture of furniture from cardboard, special attention is paid to cutting the material. Usually a clerical knife is used - it is important that it is always sharp, because the accuracy of the details depends on it. If thick cardboard cannot be cut, you can use a jigsaw.

Using a jigsaw, work goes much faster. It is important to carefully cut the details and not make mistakes, because the tool is too powerful for cardboard.

Step-by-step instruction

So that the production goes quickly and is not accompanied by problems, there is a step-by-step instruction, a master class for cardboard furniture consists of a step-by-step description of each action. It begins with the creation of a drawing, then there is the formation of parts, their strengthening. The finishing stage is the assembly of furniture. Each of the stages must be considered separately.

Drawing creation

The first thing to do is to complete a drawing of the furniture. To begin with, they draw it on a regular A4 sheet in order to see a reduced version. In such a sketch, it is important to prescribe all the dimensions and observe the scaling. If you have the skill of working in special programs that allow you to develop product models, it is worth using them.

The first drawing should have an image of the product in general volumetric form. Next, you need to draw a projection of the furniture with a top, side, back view separately. The next step will be to depict the details of the product: each detail must be drawn separately.

When the drawing is ready, it must be transferred to the sheets of cardboard:

  • Using a tape measure and a long ruler, draw on the surface of the raw material with a pencil, measuring the required dimensions;
  • For work, you may need a square so that the corners of the future furniture are even in the picture;
  • When drawing on thin cardboard, try not to leave scratches with a pencil, and when making furniture from corrugated cardboard, draw lines with clear and deep lines;
  • It is necessary to cut out the parts with observance of all indents and possible stocks of distance.

You can use ready-made patterns or come up with your own product that meets specific sizes and preferences.

Forming parts

It is worth noting that when cutting out parts, there should be no visible folds. If the work is done on a box from household appliances, it is better to cut on even edges. From six-layer cardboard, you can make furniture with your own hands of increased strength, for example, a bookcase for shoes or books.

The details of the product are formed using a sharp clerical knife. Craftsmen advise using a construction knife if you intend to work with multilayer raw materials. As the knife becomes dull, its blade is changed. A dull knife will not be able to cut off the necessary part smoothly and along the contour - you will have to redo the pattern.

Depending on the type of furniture assembly, the details can be:

  • Plug-in;
  • Glued;
  • Stackable.

The latter option involves the gradual build-up of cardboard to achieve optimal thickness. Such a move will additionally strengthen the model, preventing it from sagging under loads. It is advantageous to use cardboard sleeves in the design - special tubes with a high density. They are suitable for the production of furniture legs, as well as for assembling structures in the original style. For example, a chair made of cardboard tubes looks creative and can support the weight of a person.

Strengthening structures

Every detail after cutting with a knife must be processed. It does this in the following way:

  1. Stripping. The cut edges of the module must be sanded. This technique will give them smoothness and prepare them for further processing;
  2. Pasting. For this, kraft paper is used. It must be torn with your hands, and then carefully glue the edges with PVA glue. It is possible to apply paper over the entire surface, which creates additional reinforcement.

Furniture assembled with grooves will be durable and reliable. In the photo below you can see the principle of making such furniture: in the process of cutting, elongated holes are additionally outlined, which are subsequently cut out. An additional structure is inserted into the grooves, which holds the frame on both sides. Thanks to this, the furniture becomes stronger.

Stiffening ribs are often used, which additionally fix the base of the furniture. With the help of them, you can independently strengthen a cardboard countertop, a shoe rack, a bookcase. Stiffeners and grooves must be coated with glue. Having strengthened the structure, in the future you will not have to worry about the durability of the furniture.

Build process

All prepared parts are glued together using a glue gun or Moment glue. If the assembly is carried out using grooves, they are also glued for strength. All irregularities on the surface of thick cardboard are recommended to be repaired with a putty - it will not leave marks, and the excess will hide under the finish.

Parts requiring gluing in layers must be placed under the press. Books or other heavy objects work well for this. After gluing, they are left for several hours, or better for a whole day, until they are completely dry. All the resulting edges must be masked using kraft paper. Gently paint over the resulting corners to give them a round shape. Next, it's up to the little - decorating. There are several options:

  • Decoupage - pasting with napkins;
  • Staining with acrylic compound;
  • Wallpapering;
  • Use of self-adhesive film;
  • Decorating with mixtures.

Finished furniture can be used for its intended purpose within a day after production. Everyone can make cardboard furniture with their own hands, how to find patterns and patterns will be discussed below.
