Combination of blue red and yellow. Black and pastel shades. Combination with related colors

Ekaterina Malyarova

Red is the color of power, luxury, danger and passion.

Red symbolizes both chastity (vestments of priests) and debauchery (everyone has heard about the streets, not just some, namely, red lanterns!).

Red encourages aggression, it is the color of strong, power-hungry and even manipulative natures.

Red in its pure form is not such a common phenomenon in wardrobes, it is too energetic, picky about the figure and appearance.

In most cases, red is present in clothes in a metered fashion, as a component of floral and checkered patterns, stripes and other multicolored prints. Intertwined with other colors, with combination of red in clothes, red, as it were, loses its sexually aggressive component and acquires a new meaning. However, if there is red clothing, then it is necessary to wear and combine it with something.

Which shades are best supported, and which, on the contrary, are unwanted partners of red? Let's figure it out!

But according to tradition, about some properties of red.

Red refers to intensifying colors, but it does not sharpen the colors adjacent to it (for example, white), but the characteristic features of a person who chooses clothes in deep red tones. It is to this property of red that we owe the presence in modern culture of the fatal image of a woman in a red dress! It is important to understand that the point here is not so much in the color as such, but in the equal duet “persona-red”.

The beauty of a bright, sexy woman is perceived even more sharply if it is enhanced by clothes, accessories or even a red background, and, conversely, an unattractive woman in red clothes will seem even less interesting.

By the way, this technique was very successfully used by the costume designers of the Russian TV version of the series “Don't Be Born Beautiful”. Choosing red clothes and accessories for the main character, they further emphasized her unpretentiousness and unattractiveness.

Red color can encourage aggression and assertiveness, therefore clothes and accessories in red tones are completely unacceptable for a business dress code.

Red + achromatic colors: black, white, gray.

Red and black, in most cases, are associated with elegance. Another definition often attributed to this combination is "a win-win", however, along with the classics, the duet of red and black is also national costumes and a certain theatricality of images, and, let's not be honest, the main colors of outfits for role-playing sex games.

The combination of red + black is present in Spanish, Gypsy and many other national costumes. The border between an elegant outfit and a “secretary's suit” or an opera Diva’s dress is quite tangible, but for the purity of the picture, there are several characteristic details that you should pay attention to when making up sets of items of red and black colors:

- as mentioned above, red is a color that enhances the characteristics of a person. Black is a color enhancer for other colors. Two amplifiers in one image will not stand up to every appearance. Composing such a set, it is worthwhile to critically look at yourself in the mirror and answer the question: "Does my appearance and figure correspond to such demanding colors?"

- it is better if red and black are presented in an outfit in large color blocks, for example: black trousers and a sweater + a red coat or a red dress and bag + black raincoat and shoes. The finer the alternation of red and black in the image - a skirt with red and black flounces or a red jacket with black applique - the more the image will go towards theatrical or national costume.

Theatrical-comic look is irrelevant for everyday urban style- so that the image does not turn out to be too erotic, it is worth going from the opposite: costumes for role-playing games are most often made of latex, patent leather, lace and shiny stretch materials. Therefore, it is better to compose everyday urban images, avoiding glossy and other similar textures and tight-fitting silhouettes.

An outfit consisting of a shiny black pencil skirt and the same red blouse with lace inserts will be perceived ambiguously. And, for example, an image made up of black dress pants and a red bouclé jacket is unlikely to be read by others as overtly sexy.

Red and white is a completely different story. Despite the fact that there is a sexual connotation in this combination, it is less pronounced due to the "chastity" of the white.

Red and white are nautical classics, a light, sexy pin-up flair, as well as many other styles from feminine new-look to girly preppy and baby-dol.

White softens the aggressiveness and sexuality of red, so this combination is suitable for almost all women, the main thing is to decide on the style.

Red and gray are where the true elegance lies. When choosing this combination, you should pay attention to the lightness of gray and red. It is better if the set is made up of shades of equal lightness.

Red + red, pink, fuchsia

In this case, the most successful combinations are formed by combining red with shades of its own range of different lightness. Those. bright scarlet red will go well with dark scarlet or burgundy, as well as pink without an admixture of blue tones, coral red with salmon, etc.

If we consider combinations with shades of red that have blue in the composition, then the most advantageous, especially in the color block technique, are the combinations red + fuchsia and red + amaranth.

Red + yellow, orange, gold

Red, orange and yellow - their combinations are most often successful and understandable to the eye, but not every person is able to draw out such a bright color explosion in one image. If you choose such ensembles, then the environment - nature, situation and entourage should fully correspond to the brightness and cheerfulness of the outfit.

A beach, a country walk, a Hipster party and other similar events are the perfect place to combine red with orange and yellow.

The combination of red and gold, despite the proximity of gold to yellow-orange colors, on the contrary, bears the stamp of luxury, grandeur and even a certain theatricality. It is not for nothing that such a combination of colors is very often found in paintings depicting the monarchs of great powers.

In a casual urban style, this combination is unlikely to be appropriate, but it can well be used for evening dresses and elegant cocktail dresses.

Red + green

There is an opinion that only the French can make friends with red and green in the same outfit! There is some truth in these words, because the ensemble of green and red, as well as red and black, bears the stamp of theatricality and national costumes of different peoples of the world.

Moreover, green is the color of calmness, red is passion, which often gives very contradictory results.

Red in a duet with warm shades of green - the color of young green, olive, khaki, creates a dynamic, “restless” message, which is more suitable for youth and sportswear.

But the combination of red with cold, deep shades of green looks noble and restrained. In this case, you should adhere to the rules for combining red with black:

- do not be smaller, the larger the color blocks, the better.

Red + blue, light blue

Ice and fire - this is how one of the most harmonious combinations of chromatic colors can be characterized! In a duet, they create surprisingly beautiful and integral combinations from noble ones - royal blue + scarlet, to sports-relaxed ones - lingonberry + blue.

Shades of blue from the business palette gently smooth out the assertiveness of even the brightest reds, which in turn lend dynamism to calm blues.

Choosing this combination, you should be guided by your color type and select the shade for your face that best emphasizes the natural beauty of the color of the skin, hair and eyes.

Red + purple

Another almost mystical combination, which is more typical for ethnic patterns and evening dresses than for everyday urban images. The combination of red and purple can often be seen in color block outfits.

Red color is like an explosion. It is both simple and complex. Simple because it always attracts attention, creates an image of strength and power. And it is difficult because it is quite difficult to find your red.

To find combinations, you can use some cheat sheets. These are called color schemes.

A color scheme is a palette of colors that includes from two to four harmonious colors, one of which is the main one.

Complementary color scheme

According to color theory, for each primary color there is a complementary (complementary) color that is opposite. You can identify these colors by using the color wheel. For red, cyan (blue) is complementary. Such a bright combination is good for the Winter and Spring color types.

Analog color scheme

If you want to make a subtle impression, choose an analog color scheme. An ensemble made in such a scheme contains shades located side by side on the color wheel.

Triad color schemes

This is a combination of three shades, which are the corners of a triangle (equilateral or isosceles) inscribed in our circle. The classical triad scheme is an equilateral triangle, the vertices of which are the desired colors for the combination.

There are variations in the triad scheme.

Combination scheme of combined complementary colors

The essence of this scheme is as follows: the main color is taken, and two complementary colors are selected not strictly at the vertices of an equilateral triangle, but with an offset of one sector to the side. For red, these are sectors of blue-blue and light green shades.

We will consider other types of combinations on the Oswald circle, in which the colors smoothly flow into each other. A similar circle is used by designers. These are combinations of an isosceles triangle, an obtuse triangle, and a right triangle.

Black is one of the most versatile colors. It is considered as such, because it is an excellent background for any decoration and decor. Black refers to achromatic colors, i.e. devoid of qualities such as hue and saturation. In fact, - black is the absence of color, tk. objects painted black do not reflect the luminous flux from their surface. That is why the human eye sees them black. The only characteristic of black, like any other achromatic, is lightness. Black is the darkest color in existence.

For most people, black gives rise to both positive and negative associations. The positives include confidence, self-sufficiency, elegance, strength, and luxury. Negative effects are associated with feelings of depression, fatigue, illness, closeness, and alienation. The perception of black color often depends on a person's perception of the world at a particular historical moment. In clothes, black can give rise to both positive and negative emotions, depending on the amount, location, combination with other shades, etc. That is why you should know several important principles for creating harmonious color combinations with black.

Any color harmony with black is based primarily on the contrast in lightness, since lightness is the only property of this color. Despite the fact that, from the point of view of physics, black does not have such a property as saturation (brightness), subjectively it can be characterized as a dull color, because any chromatic color loses its brightness if it is darkened (i.e. added black). This means that the second principle of building color harmonies with black is saturation contrast.

On the other hand, high light contrast requires a well thought out composition, in which the main color spots occupy areas calculated and carefully selected in advance. The fact is that in ensembles with a high contrast in lightness, when the area of color spots is approximately the same, a dark color (in our case, black) can seem very heavy, upset the balance of the composition. Let's imagine a pink knee-length dress and a black jacket. We see a high contrast in lightness and approximately equal areas occupied by the main color spots - a dress and a jacket. Such an ensemble looks heavy and rude. The black color clearly “clogs” the pink. To remedy the situation, it is recommended to use the principle of interpenetration of colors, when, in addition to large spots, the ensemble also contains smaller spots on a contrasting background. In our example, you can put on a black belt over a pink dress, pick up a black bag, put on black beads and shoes. So the area of color spots will change in the direction of increasing the area of black, and the composition will look more harmonious.

It should also be noted that a high contrast in lightness is not suitable for all people. The combination of black and white in the form of large color spots, as the most contrasting of all possible combinations, is suitable only for the Winter color type, because it is the winter types that have the most contrasting appearance. All other color types should not wear black close to the face, because black with the face itself creates a strong contrast. Such people should take a closer look at the so-called shade of black - "off-black", i.e. a very dark gray, almost black shade. But, even wearing off-black instead of pure black, you should make sure that it is in harmony with your appearance. To do this, try to make the transition from face to black through the colors of your palette. The guides can be a scarf or beads painted in your best shades.

Another way to wear black and white in the same ensemble for non-contrast types is not to wear these colors as large blocks - color spots. When these two colors are intertwined in a drawing, there is a mutual overlap of colors, black and white lose their contrast, the image becomes much softer.

As for accessories made in black, they are much more versatile than black clothes. Any color type can afford to purchase black shoes, a bag, gloves, a purse, a belt, because they do not have to be worn near the face, and the area of color spots is usually small. But even here, if you do not belong to the winter type of appearance, with a choice between classic black and off-black, give preference to the latter.

Let's now take a closer look at some of the more common color combinations with black.

As mentioned at the beginning of the article, black is the perfect background for jewelry. If you have something to show, do it on a black background. Gems, gold and silver will sparkle like never before. That is why black is indispensable in an evening wardrobe.

1. Black + bright colors. Black seems to be created to coexist with bright, saturated colors. In such combinations, the contrast of color saturation comes to the fore. This is how very effective, independent images are created. So, with bright red, black personifies passion, strength and imperiousness; and with bright blue it creates a good, "unbroken" combination for business clothes - strictly and solemnly. Bright purple shades against a black background give the image a touch of mystery, create intrigue.

2. Black + warm colors. Very effective combinations can be obtained by placing some clearly warm shade next to black. For example, orange next to black creates an optimistic mood. This very active combination looks best in sportswear, in concert costumes. For casual and smart wear, it is best to use a softer shade of orange that is close to coral.

3. Black + yellow. The combination of black and yellow is very fond of the catwalk and high fashion. This combination is especially relevant in checkered patterns. However, in life, this combination can hardly be called harmonious, because in nature, black and yellow symbolize danger. Although in sportswear, as well as clothing for spectacles, it may well be appropriate.

4. Black + pink. Black and pink are great combinations for young girls. The black color emphasizes the fragility and tenderness of pink, making the image even deeper.

5. Black + calm colors. With soothing colors of medium light, black creates the foundation for a casual look. Next to muted, unsaturated shades, he himself becomes a little softer.

6. Black + dark colors. As mentioned above, combining black with dark shades, it is difficult to obtain harmonious combinations due to the proximity of the colors used. But if you combine black with dark and bright shades, then you can achieve good and fairly harmonious images, in which the depth of bright shades is only revealed even more.

7. Black + icy colors. Very refreshing looks can be achieved by placing icy pastel colors next to black. Such combinations are suitable for people of the winter type of appearance due to their high contrast and pronounced cold undertone.

8. Black + pastel colors. Soft pastel colors (pale pink, light blue, pale lilac, light turquoise, peach, cream) next to black create an impression of romance. Such combinations are suitable for all color types of appearance. In this case, it is recommended to use not classic black, but off-black.

9. Black + beige and ivory. Black and beige, as well as ivory, are recommended for office fashion. Such combinations create a sophisticated and elegant look. Better to use off-black.

Separately, I would like to dwell on the possibility of dressing in black from head to toe. This is the so-called. black total look. For black (and generally all dark) things, silhouette is extremely important. Unlike light shades, details and texture are poorly "read" on dark, but the silhouette and outlines of a figure in black create contrast and attract attention. That is why a clear, sustained silhouette, strict styles, the absence of unnecessary details and any excesses are always important for a black total look. That is why products with ruffles and flounces are rarely sewn from black fabric.

One of the most important roles in the creation of any fashionable image is color. That is why all stylists, designers and image makers devote a lot of time to choosing the required tone. So, in our field of vision, the combination of its shades is traditionally associated with harmony, tranquility, awakening and natural freshness. Its muted calm shades help to win over the interlocutor and relax. A more flashy and bright combination of green, on the contrary, makes the created image as memorable and effective as possible.

Choose your outfit depending on how you want to make an impression.

Green combination: photo

If there is a green color in a woman's clothes, it means that she is independent, confident, balanced and knows her own worth. This tone suits most types of appearance.

With the help of its dark shades, you can emphasize all the advantages of the figure and hide the flaws. If your goal is to create an image of an independent and confident young lady, then the combination of green in clothes will successfully cope with this task. But in order for this color and its shades to be appropriate, it is necessary to correctly combine it with other colors within the same image.

Every fashionista knows that stylists do not recommend mixing cold and warm shades. Green is of the second type. Do not pair it with blue, blue or pink. It is better to combine this tone with things of brown, orange, with a shade of turquoise or coral. But even here one should observe the measure.

So, for example, a combination of green and red The main thing is not to overdo it with this very contrast. You can choose green accessories for a red outfit and vice versa.

Green, the combination of which with other shades exudes vitality, is very versatile. It suits both young girls and mature women. in addition, clothes of this shade can be worn all year round.

Rules for the use of green in clothes

The combination of green with other colors in clothes must be matched correctly. There are four simple rules for this.

  1. You can choose an entire outfit and jewelry in one color, provided that all shades are necessarily different.
  2. The second color that you combine with green should be of similar intensity, but always contrasting.
  3. You can use three green and blue.
  4. Do not combine more than four colors in one outfit: choose two main and two complementary shades. In this case, green can be used both as the primary and secondary colors.

Green color: combination

There are many shades of green. Which of them are the most beloved by a woman? Light green, jade, emerald, olive and malachite. And the most fashionable is the mint shade.

White is the color green works best with. Go for a pair of green trousers and a white blazer to create a chic ensemble, or vice versa. Also, this color is combined with brown and black.

Combining green with other colors requires caution. Despite the fact that this color is not recommended to be combined with blue, an ensemble of emerald green trousers or a dress and jacket in a sky blue shade will look bold and fresh.

A bold enough combination - green and purple or pink.

A vest shirt, white T-shirt or shirt will be a good addition to a green skirt.

Going to the office, choose a green top (it can be a blouse, jacket, shirt) with a brown or black bottom.

If it is cold and slush outside the window, the combination of green with other colors in your outfit, for example, yellow, will cheer you up and give you a boost of energy. A good option is an ensemble of warm green trousers and a yellow sweatshirt. Autumn outerwear can consist of a yellow scarf and a hat, coupled with a green coat.

According to designers, green, the combination of which with others can give confidence to any girl, is best combined with brown, yellow or orange shades, while light green looks better with gray or black.

If you are creating an image in which the main tone is green, then give preference to the accessory in brown, gold, yellow or white shades.

Green color and appearance

  • To accentuate your tan, choose a cool shade of green.
  • Any shades of this color will suit a swarthy brunette.
  • For girls with light curls, it is better to choose a warm shade of green.
  • The combination of green in clothes is not recommended for girls with a summer color type.

Makeup for green clothes

When creating an image with the participation of green, do not forget about makeup. It is best to use pastel or coral shades. A bold decision is a bright red lipstick. When creating makeup, you can copy the color scheme of the selected accessories or create an image based on naturalness.

Green shades smooth out the effect of other colors, get rid of bad thoughts, reduce stress - the healing effect of these tones is very diverse. They give calmness, are associated with nature, symbolize freshness and a new beginning. with green color in clothes will always provide you with spectacular and bright images.

Green color: whole palette

Green has a wide variety of shades, from the lightest to the deepest. On the example of some of them, you can easily understand what combinations of this color will help create a stylish and unique image.

Turquoise

It is not the first season that a delicate combination of blue and green remains one of the most popular tandems. The safest is a turquoise shade in combination with white, cream, and in addition, the color of the stone of happiness - bewitching and unusual - can be diluted with bright tones. These are coral, emerald, yellow, purple and gold. It is they who will add a turquoise shade of playfulness and saturation.

Olive

The military style of clothing has gradually returned to the fashion catwalks of the world. In this regard, the natural and calm olive shade has returned to the wardrobes of most fashionistas and is now at the peak of popularity.

Olive color in a dress requires the presence of bright contrasts. You can safely combine it with red, orange, yellow, purple or blue shades.

But that's not all! You can combine olive with similar pastels or just subtle shades of the aforementioned tones: dark blue, cream or sand.

Mint color in clothes

Delicate and feminine natures will love the mint shade. Delicate pastel colors are its safest companions. The fragility and romance of the girl will be emphasized by such ensembles.

If you want to create a brighter look, then it is better to give preference to purple, brown, pink, dark blue or wine shades.

Remember that an illiterate combination of a mint hue in an ensemble can lead to a complete fiasco, therefore, treat the creation of this or that ensemble more carefully.

Light green color

For some reason, it is believed that the light green shade is extremely impractical and extravagant for the everyday looks of avid fashionistas. However, a few years ago, stylists and designers found a way to limit the combinations of this color in clothes - color blocking outfits. Sets created in this style will allow fashionistas to look spectacular and bright. In this case, a light green shade should be combined with saturated colors: purple, orange, pink, yellow or blue.

If you want to look more strict and sophisticated, then you need to muffle and dilute the excessive catchiness of this color. Pay attention to wardrobe items in navy blue, white, beige and black.

Bottle shade

The bottle color is considered one of the most conservative shades of green. However, it looks appropriate both in the office or at a business meeting, as well as on the red carpet or under the spotlights. The bottle shade is very self-sufficient, so it is unreasonable to combine it with flashy bright tones. It will turn out to be too saturated and overloaded ensemble. Black, gray, white or deep brown are great companions to bottle color.

Fashionistas who love to dazzle should pay attention to metallic shades. They will harmoniously complement the image on the base and will play advantageously in contrast.

Emerald color

The emerald hue is one of the trendiest colors of the last season. He easily won the hearts of women of fashion around the world. Often, it is emerald outfits that are chosen by Western celebrities for the red carpet procession. A deep emerald green shade will give the ensemble a touch of luxury and elegance, no matter how it is combined in clothes. This rich tone is very versatile. The emerald shade can be freely combined with blue, black, white, orange, yellow and many other colors. If you have an evening reception, the combination of a rich emerald tone and bright metallic shades will look especially impressive and elegant.

The selection of colors is an important and responsible business. Shades are important in clothing, makeup, interiors, and design. For a respectable appearance, clothes in 2-3 colors are selected. This is a versatile variation that allows you not to overdo it in colors. The same goes for interior decoration.

After all, the variety of incompatible palettes leads to a deterioration in the appearance of the room. Therefore, it is very important to know the combinations. The article will tell you how to choose the right tones for clothing and interior items.

There are three ways to select the desired color variations:

  • For a monochromatic motive. This refers to the combination of one color with different shades. Example: red-light red-dark red.
  • According to the antipode principle. This refers to the selection of the antipode by the palette:
    1. Red to olive.
    2. To light green - pink.
    3. To yellow - violet.
    4. To orange - blue.
  • By contrast method. This refers to the selection in one color palette. Example:
    1. For red, violet is suitable.
    2. For violet blue.
    3. For green, olive.
    4. For olive - mint.
    5. For yellow - sand.
    6. For pink - fuchsia.
    7. For blue, blue.

The psychological side of color selection

When decorating the interior, we pay attention to the color of the walls and finishes:

  • Red - causes depression, apathy, reduces sensitivity, causes hypertension.
  • Black - visually reduces space.
  • Brown is discouraging.
  • Gray - causes sadness.
  • Blue is an uncomfortable shade for a room.
  • Yellow - adjusts to a good mood. Invigorates.

When choosing color solutions, you should be very careful and attentive. After all, incorrectly selected palettes will ruin the entire appearance: they will make the image inappropriate and the interior uncomfortable.
