How to make solid perfume. Solid perfume based on wax and natural oils

Dry, or, as they are also called, solid perfumes are the origins of the art of perfumery, which goes back thousands of years, going back to the times of Ancient Egypt. In those ancient times, perfume compositions had not yet learned to create on the basis of alcohol or ether. The basis was a mixture of aromatic oils and fats of vegetable and animal origin. With the help of special resins, this base was transformed into a concentrated solid substance. Precious spices, musk, essential oils, amber and frankincense were added to this odorless, neutral base of unscented fat and wax. Thus, an invaluable aroma was obtained, accessible only to a select few.

Five thousand years ago, Egyptian beauties began their morning toilet by attaching a small aroma cone based on refined animal fat with the addition of an aromatic composition to their heads. Under the influence of the sun, the fat melted, flowing down onto the face and body, moisturizing it and giving a fragrant trail. By and large, aromatic oils and the dry form of perfume were the only form of perfume for many centuries, from ancient Egypt until the heyday of the Roman Empire. The Greeks and Romans especially revered dry perfumes - it was considered good form to rub with a fragrant musk block after visiting the thermal baths.
Over time, Europeans also inherited the ancient Romans' penchant for using solid perfumes. So, in the Renaissance era, dry aromas from myrrh, ambergris, Frankinsens became widespread. Such perfumes were very expensive, because all the components were worth their weight in gold. The same ambergris (or ambergris), being a pathological discharge from the glands of a sick sperm whale, was called "floating gold".

In the Middle Ages, wealthy coquettes from high society used the so-called pomanders , which made it possible to store, transport and sort dry perfumes. The pomander was a metal ball, in which the smell came out through the openwork holes, resembling an orange, divided into slices-sections, each of which contained a particular scent. Women of fashion competed in the art of composing a fragrant composition from a not too rich and varied material - fragrant oils and flower essences.

Simpler pendants, without "cloves", for one fragrance were also popular. I think it was not in vain that the beauties appreciated such jewelry and perfumery products for their elegance and functionality, because the fragrance spread regardless of whether the owner of the perfume had time to apply them to the skin. By the way, in the Middle Ages, such vapors were credited with healing properties that help drive away the plague, strengthen female organs and increase male potency.
For many centuries, dry perfume has been produced in the Arab East as well. Initially, the popularity of dry perfume was brought by Arab women who used it as a skin care product, which was quickly adopted by men as well. It was they who began to come up with a variety of aromatic compositions and all new types of this product. Showcases of oriental shops were full of bottles, boxes, caskets, colored labels and jars, which flew like hot cakes. I think that the climatic factor nevertheless played a role here - a perfume with a solid base of wax and fat retains its properties as best as possible in a dry hot climate. I must say that to this day in the East dry perfumes quite successfully compete with perfume based on volatile compounds.

In the first half of the 20th century, the perfume market began to change rapidly. The mass production of perfumes on a liquid base familiar to us began to supplant the production of solid perfumes. And by the end of the 20th century, they were also replaced by sprays that allow you to apply fragrance in a light concentration with a single press of a button.

However, in the Russian perfumery market, interest in solid perfume, it seems to me, is reviving. And for good reason. Solid perfume is akin to a stylish delicacy, and often an expensive accessory. They are many-sided, multifaceted, surprisingly persistent, but at the same time unobtrusive. In addition, it is a great alternative for those who, for whatever reason, cannot use an alcohol-based perfume. Usually dry perfumes are made from solid vegetable oils (for example, based on shea butter, jojoba, coconut) with the addition of wax, propolis or a similar component and, of course, the actual perfume composition. This perfume composition can be composed of essential oils, aromatic oils or contain any "original" aroma. Dry herbs, flowers or shimmer can sometimes be added, so the dry perfume leaves a slight shimmer when applied. A good quality dry perfume can also be a good moisturizer for your skin. In short, the risk of allergies and skin irritation when using solid perfumes is minimized. And also solid perfume - as they say now, travel-friendly, it is very convenient to take them with you on the plane, they are very light and compact.

Now I'll tell you about how to apply dry perfume ... The undoubted plus of dry perfume is its ease and comfort in use. Solid scents are applied to pulsating points - on the wrists, behind the ear, in the hollow between the breasts, on the inner side of the elbows, under the knees, in the armpit or wherever you like. Be careful not to put dry perfume on your face! It is also important to "try on" dry perfumes, especially of Arab or Indian origin, and apply exactly as much as necessary. It is very easy to overdo it with oriental perfumes. The aroma is usually "typed" without any special devices, with a finger. In general, it depends on what "home" the scent has, that is, in which jar, box, pencil, medallion, ring, etc. the scent is enclosed.

Jewelry for storing solid fragrances is a completely separate topic. Could there be anything more harmonious than the connection between jewelry and perfumery, which has been so exciting for women of fashion all over the world since time immemorial? The shape of the "jewelry container" for dry perfumes is, in fact, limited only by the jeweler's imagination. Today there are medallions, rings, bracelets, beautiful jewelry jars that resemble small boxes where the fragrance is placed. If you wish, you can order a unique "container" of your own design from a jeweler and fill it with dry perfume of your own production for yourself, your beloved, or present it as a luxurious gift for a loved one. Dry perfumes are durable, their shelf life is unlimited, so the scent can last for years and remind of you. As promised, I will tell you about the original dry perfume recipes in one of the next posts.

So, the method of applying dry perfume, firstly, depends on the "house" of the aroma and on the consistency. Some dry dry perfumes are softer in consistency closer to cream (for example, such perfumes may contain petroleum jelly), there are harder ones that feel like a hard wax candle or even a salt crystal. Rub your finger over the dry perfume several times. Some people use a cotton swab or toothpick to scoop up a small amount of solid perfume from a container, then rub the contents between their fingers and apply to the pulsating points. If the dry perfume is enclosed in a "pencil", then it's even easier - put out a small amount, like lipstick, and immediately apply wherever you like. If the scent is shaped like a stick, then just take it and rub it on your wet body after taking a bath or shower. You can rub it on a dry body. The duet of the same aromas - solid and ordinary will sound especially beautiful. There is another way to apply dry perfume if you are using an unscented crystal antiperspirant. Rub your armpits with dry perfume after using it. The perfume will open a little later, when you start moving and warming up their particles. Also try adding a small amount of dry perfume to the aroma pendant - I think you will be pleasantly surprised! -)

Slightly more complicated, in my opinion, with inexpensive oriental perfume in cubes. Difficult in terms of a little more effort to slightly warm it up. So the solid oils of vegetable origin or beeswax, which retain the aroma, begin to melt a little. Apply the fragrance with gentle circular massage movements. At first it may seem somewhat unusual and even uncomfortable, but the scent is usually worth it! Delicate, enveloping, persistent, with a bright character, memorable ...

Personally, I prefer oriental (Arabian) dry perfumes. As a rule, even the cheapest perfume is of very high quality. The Arabs are allowed to use them, since there is not a single prohibited component in the composition, all ingredients are strictly selected and tested. Their prices can range from $ 1 - $ 2 for a regular scent bar in plain parchment or cardboard box to $ 150 - $ 200 for a balm with a luxurious composition of pure essences in a marvelous inlaid box. So, going on your next trip to the eastern countries - Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates - be sure to look at the oriental bazaar or the oriental shop with all sorts of things and buy a box or box with dry perfume. It will not only be a great scent, but also a refined interior decoration.
I like that in the East you can find perfumes according to traditional recipes that are kept secret. Their aroma is always dizzying, unique, exclusive - you will definitely not find this in ordinary stores or on everyone you meet. Thanks to this tradition, one can find out what scents were worn hundreds and thousands of years ago, what they preferred, how they seduced and carried away ... Just imagine, after all, Scheherazade herself could have smelled like that!

Dry perfume from the Arab brand Tariikh
You can use dry perfume for aromatherapy or fragrance of a room, car, etc. If the fragrance is in the form of a bar, you can take it out of the box or open the box (jar) with the fragrance enclosed in the firmament and put it in the closet with linen. And sometimes I do this: I take a block and paint part of it with a knife or similar object. I distribute the resulting handful of crumbs on the shelves, in pillowcases, in the folds of the sheets, in the duvet cover, etc. This method will not spoil either clothes or bedding, but the aroma persists for a long time even after washing. It seems to me that if the aroma is to your liking, then insomnia will be removed as if by hand. Try it.
However, no matter what perfume you choose - solid or regular, alcohol-based or oil-based - the main thing is to store them correctly (in a dark, cool place) and be able to use them. Be on top, feel great surrounded by a light, warm cloud of your beloved, merged with the skin, a scent that can become your most real aromatic autograph!

Spirits are a powerful female weapon that can defeat all men on the spot. The main thing is to skillfully use it so as not to turn its action against yourself.

How to properly apply perfume so that the sillage lasts longer. General recommendations

  1. The body should be as clean as the hair. Oily skin retains the scent less and reveals it in a different way, distorting the real scent.
  2. It is necessary to apply perfume on clothes correctly so as not to leave stains that are difficult to remove. It is necessary to spray the perfume at a distance of half a meter and immerse the dress in the formed cloud.
  3. The scent should be applied using the pad of your finger, if there is no dispenser, rather than pouring the contents over yourself from the bottle.
  4. The smell of perfume should be felt by people who are nearby within the radius of an outstretched arm.
  5. It is worth applying perfume in places where the pulse is felt, a few drops are enough in the area of the knee and elbow bends, on the wrists.
  6. One and the same perfume cannot be used for all occasions and different seasons.

Sooner or later, your favorite perfumes begin to grow boring, so periodically they need to be changed to a similar scent.

In order for the perfume to last a long time, it must be properly stored, it must be a dry, dark, cool place, but not a refrigerator, a wardrobe or chest of drawers would be ideal.

Before you start figuring out how to properly apply perfume, you should first learn how to choose it. Because it is very difficult to find your own fragrance from a variety of perfumes.

How not to make a mistake with a purchase

  1. To go to the shopping center for perfume should be “clean”, that is, without putting on perfume.
  2. Better to shop during the day, when the brain recognizes scents more easily, and rely only on your sense of smell.
  3. You can taste several scents at once, but only three of them drip onto special paper, then choose one and apply on your wrist.
  4. The alcohol stain formed on the hand from the perfume cannot be rubbed with the intention of opening it as quickly as possible, you need to wait until it evaporates in order to feel other notes of this fragrance.
  5. The sound of spirits is not revealed immediately, at least twenty minutes later. It is better, after applying them on clothes, neck, collarbone, to go home and see how the aroma will manifest itself during the day. Then it will become clear what the density, durability and sillage of this perfume are. It happens that a delicate, soft aroma lasts for a long time, and the sonorous, screaming one quickly disappears.
  6. It should be borne in mind that all spirits unfold in different ways, some do not change over a long period, others open gradually.

After acquiring your scent, you need to know where to apply the perfume correctly.

Places for application

  1. Neck below the ears.
  2. Wrists.
  3. Popliteal and elbow areas.
  4. Ankles.
  5. Places at the temples.
  6. Collarbone.
  7. Center point of the chest.

Here's how to properly apply women's perfume, because they are different.

How to use dry perfume

  1. First, they need to be warmed up by rubbing with simple hand movements on the skin.
  2. Then apply to the pulsation sites.
  3. opens up on hot skin after water procedures.
  4. They are suitable for an aroma lamp, and they can also be placed in a linen cabinet to create a light and pleasant scent.

The application of dry perfume to the body will also depend on the consistency. If the texture is soft, just swipe over them and take the desired portion. A solid perfume that resembles a wax candle will need to be rubbed with the pad of your finger several times. You can use a sharp or cotton swab to collect the required amount, then rub the perfume with your hands and apply to pulsating places.

Pencil perfume is the most convenient option. Pull out a small amount and apply directly to the skin. The block is also easy to use, it is simply rubbed with it on a damp body.

Oil perfume

Oily perfumes can be diluted with alcohol, which is more correct, or mixed with an odorless base oil. But you can apply it like that.

They should also be stored in a cool, dry place out of the sun.

It is not recommended to apply them to the skin and hair in extreme heat, because natural oils can cause allergies. Better to drip on and pin to the seamy side of the garment, or put a piece of cloth with perfume on in your purse.

How to apply perfume for a long lasting effect

  1. Care should be taken when using, as oil base can cause stubborn stains. To do this, you need to apply two or three drops to the outer side of the palm, this will be enough for the aroma to reveal hidden notes and remain on the body for a long time.
  2. For greater effect, they need to be applied to the popliteal fossa, as well as to the inner elbow bend.
  3. In general, they are applied according to the "triangle rule", these are the places at the temples and a dimple under the throat.

The main thing is that when using any perfume, you need to not overdo it, because a high concentration can cause a headache and an allergic reaction and even nausea.

Therefore, you need to know how to properly apply perfume so that there is a trail.

  1. Do not spray perfume in the neck area, because the aroma does not unfold there well due to the temperature regime, and this can harm your health. The vessels are located deeper, not in pulsating places. And the perfume begins to sound on warm areas of the skin, behind the earlobes, on the shoulders, on their inner sides, and so on, where they should be applied.
  2. You can apply a few drops of perfume on the comb and comb your wet hair, or use your fingertips to touch the hairline at the temples, this will allow you to maintain a pleasant train for a long time.
  3. For greater effect, you can sprinkle perfume on the underwear from the seamy side (on the seams), so that the scent will increase and the clothes will remain clean.

Now it is clear how to properly apply perfume. It is also worth knowing that the bottle must be closed tightly after use so that the aroma does not evaporate. Do not store perfume in the open sun, this leads to a change in the formula and smell.

  1. Better to use a few drops of perfume than overdo it.
  2. The scent spreads from bottom to top. This suggests that it is better to apply them not only behind the earlobes, but also on the popliteal region and on the wrists.
  3. If there is a desire to spray clothes, remember that woolen items and fur products can retain aromas for years, so it is better not to do this at all. Perfume stains may remain on light-colored fabrics.
  4. It is good if all perfumery cosmetics are kept in one fragrant line.
  5. Do not use the bottle for more than three years.

Knowing all these simple rules for applying perfume to the body, you can avoid many mistakes. And finally: if one perfume is constantly used, our sense of smell gets used to this fragrance and we stop hearing it, but this does not mean that others do not feel it.

There is a saying: "Any woman can make a salad, a hat and a scandal out of nothing." We are inherent in a creative nature, we, women, in our flight of fantasy - are capable of much. In cooking - for famous recipes we invent some of our own "cartoons", in clothes - we prefer a special style, at home we create a unique cosiness. How many things we come up with to look beautiful, be fashionably dressed and smell good. In choosing a perfume, each of us is also very individual. How to make a solid perfume with your own hands?

Now with the advent of such a "miracle" as the Internet, there are many opportunities for the realization of creative abilities. In the cosmetic direction, there are enough recipes for homemade creams, lotions, masks and even perfumes. Since we, women, are meticulous, painstaking and neat, making solid perfumes at home will not give us much trouble, rather great pleasure and self-satisfaction, because you can feel like a real perfumer.

To prepare solid perfume at home, you need the following components:

  • Almond oil or jojoba oil, or vitamin E oil solution.
  • A variety of essential oils to suit your taste can be purchased at the pharmacy.
  • And also beeswax, you can buy it on the market, in specialized stores of beekeeping goods.
  • You will also need containers for ready-made perfumes, preferably glass, or metal (medallions, pendants).

To obtain the desired scent of solid perfumes, you need to know some secrets of perfumery - all perfumes are three main "notes":

  • "High - the head of the spirits"- the aroma that we feel in the first 5-30 minutes - the lightest essential oils (lemon verbena, lime, bergamot, grapefruit, mint, basil, tangerine);
  • "Heart of spirits"- this aroma of essential oils evaporates within 12-24 hours - this is the basis of the scent of perfumes (myrtle, ylang-ylang, rosemary, oregano, nutmeg, palmarosa, juniper, cypress);
  • "Perfume base - bottom note"- very persistent aroma, lasts the longest (sandalwood, jasmine, patchouli, neroli, rose, myrrh, vanilla, cloves).

To obtain the desired aroma, cut the paper into thin strips, put a drop of oil on each piece of paper and sign them (so as not to forget). Cross the paper strips together and choose the scent that suits you.

Mix 1 tbsp. a spoonful of crushed beeswax with 1 tbsp. spoon of almond (or other) oil, put in a water bath until the wax is completely melted (do not boil the wax). While the wax is melting, mix the selected essential oils in a few drops in a separate bowl. When the wax is completely melted, remove it from the heat and quickly pour in the essential oil mixture (15-20 drops), stirring, and immediately pour into prepared containers for ready-made perfume. Do this quickly as the wax hardens instantly. After 30 minutes, your unique scent is ready.

Solid perfumes have been trending for several years now. And although this type of perfume is unusual for us, it is dry or, as they are also called, solid spirits that became the progenitors of all other types and types of spirits.

The history of the emergence of solid spirits
The first dry perfumes appeared in ancient Egypt and were aromatic balms, the composition of which consisted of refined fats and flavored fillers. Such aromatic compositions were applied to the whole body, the melted fat saturated the skin, spreading the aromas of incense around. Gradually, this practice of using dry perfumes was adopted by other peoples and this type of perfume spread throughout Europe. But the type of dry perfume changed, butting the body with a musk bar was popular, another common type of perfume was ambergris, consisting of fragrant oils and whale secretion.

Gradually changing, the perfume acquired the form that is used today. Pendants with dry perfume were worn around the neck, but at that time they had a slightly different purpose - therapeutic, perfume was applied to the temple area for headaches. The perfume consisted of natural aromatic oils, wax and fat.

Today, solid perfume is more of a tribute to fashion, an accessory that adds a stylish note to the image. Basically, dry perfumes have oriental, rich, spicy aromas, and not every store can buy this form of perfume. However, the dry or solid form of perfume has a number of advantages over conventional classic alcohol bottles and there are several reasons to purchase such perfume.

Reason # 1
Saturation of aroma. Most solid perfumes have a more persistent and richer scent than their liquid form. This is due to the fact that wax, which is the basis of dry perfume, is not absorbed into the skin, but melts from the heat of the body, creating a thin film on the skin. The wax, oil and aroma are mixed with the natural skin scent to create a one-of-a-kind scent.

Reason # 2
Naturalness of the product. The vast majority of dry perfumes are made from natural ingredients, which are beeswax, rose wax, jasmine, apricot, high-quality solid oils. In dry perfumes, there is a minimum of preservatives, dyes, talcum powder, and alcohol in general is extremely rare to be found in such a product as solid perfume. The waxes and oils that make up the fragrances have a beneficial effect on the skin - and although we are not smeared with perfume from head to toe, nevertheless, this can be considered an additional plus.

Reason # 3
Another reason to buy dry perfume is its economical use and a fairly reasonable cost. Good quality perfumes that leave a fragrant trail for a long time cost a lot, and eau de toilette spray, as a rule, is completely unstable. All this cannot be said about solid perfumes, for many of them the price is much lower, and the quality is not at all inferior to alcoholic counterparts. A small jar of solid perfume will last for a long time, because only a tiny amount is needed for one use, less than a match head.

Reason # 4
Aesthetics and practicality. Many dry perfume manufacturers pack their products in beautiful jars that fit easily into even the smallest handbag. A small jar of dry perfume will be indispensable when traveling, going to the theater or on a date. You can often find dry perfumes placed in beautiful pendants and rings, it is beautiful, practical and can add an exquisite note to any look. This version of solid perfume can also become an original gift.

How to use solid perfume
Using the solid form of perfume is no different from using the regular alcohol form of perfume. A small amount is applied to specific points: wrists, neck and other places where you can feel the heartbeat. In these places on the body, the temperature is higher, so the scent will last longer.

Home experiments
If you do not have the opportunity to acquire a solid form of perfume, but still want to try it, having wax, base and essential oils in your arsenal, you can create your own absolutely unique scent. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to the melted wax and hard oil and pour into the desired small container. Wait for solidification and your personal perfume is ready!

You can experiment by mixing essential oils and getting unique compositions that no one else will have. Of course, such home perfumes will not be as persistent as industrial ones, because such a component is needed that can be called an aroma fixer.

It doesn't matter whether you buy a solid perfume in the store or make it yourself, in any case, a beautiful jar of natural perfume will help you create an interesting look and replenish your personal collection of fragrances.

You know what a solid perfume is, no? Read this material and find out what, it turns out, the possibilities are available in cosmetology.

In fact, solid or dry perfumes are a very old invention, we just forgot about their existence. In the world of perfumery, dry perfume is by no means an innovation, but, on the contrary, is one of the oldest types of perfumery. Solid dry perfume is an invention of Ancient Egypt (more than five thousand years ago). To this day, manufacturers of solid perfume for their perfumes use technologies that have survived since the times of Ancient Egypt, among which there is the main one - the use of solid perfumes as a basis.

To our great regret, the production of dry solid perfumes is not occupied by so many cosmetic brands, which is why solid perfumes are practically not common, unlike classic-type fragrances and are simply unfamiliar to many. Nevertheless, this fact in no way diminishes all the advantages and benefits of a solid perfume over its liquid version. Having appreciated the benefits of dry solid perfumes, you will not give up on them. So what are the benefits of dry perfume?

The benefits of solid perfume

  • Intense long-lasting aroma. This is undoubtedly an advantage, because it is the persistence of the aroma that determines its quality and popularity.
  • Acceptable cost. We sometimes spend a lot of money to create a scent trail, because real liquid perfumes are very expensive. But solid perfumes are much cheaper, but imperfectly inferior in quality.
  • Naturalness. Be aware that solid perfumes are usually made from natural ingredients. If there is an artificial component in such perfumes, this can be called an annoying exception.
  • Lack of alcohol (alcohol). Alcohol, like synthetic elements, rarely becomes an ingredient in a solid perfume. Solid perfume contains a minimum amount of fragrances, talc, preservatives, coloring pigments.
  • Emollient and moisturizing ingredients. This perfume will not only create a plume, but also soften and moisturize your skin.
  • Profitability. Jars of solid perfume are small in size, but at the same time they are consumed much more economically than the usual liquid perfume.
  • Practicality. Solid perfumes are placed in simple small jars with lids, which makes their use very convenient and practical - space is saved in a small handbag.
  • Aesthetics. Quite often, solid perfumes are placed in pendants or opening rings - this is beautiful and practical.

Perfume in this version is always a great gift!

How to use solid perfume?

It is nowhere easier to use. Opening the jar, pick up a solid mass on your finger (the amount is like on the tip of a knife) and apply to certain points - where the pulse is felt, that is, on the wrist, on the neck. In these places, our body temperature is higher, as a result of which the scent lasts longer.

Solid perfume is a unique style, an interesting image. In addition, the box with solid perfume can be put in a wardrobe, and after a while, your things will acquire your individual scent.
