What to do if a dog has lost puppies. Preventive measures to keep your dog safe

The loss of a pet is a real tragedy for any family. Therefore, in order that the dog is not lost, and in order to find it in case of loss as soon as possible, there are several ways.

How to find the missing dog and where to look for it, you will learn on this page. You will also receive information about what the brand means on a dog, where exactly it is located and how tags are made on a dog's collar.

Where and how to find a dog

The answer to the question of where to look for a dog is unambiguous - it is necessary to look for a dog exactly where he was lost, and in places of constant walks. The dog is guided by the smell, so if you put your thing on nearby places for walking, then it can come to the smell and stay waiting for the owner.

One of the important conditions on how to find a lost dog is posting messages about the missing pet. Give a photo and a detailed description of the dog's appearance, it will not be superfluous information about the reward. If the dog is a rare breed, do not mention it: there are many scammers. Make the tear-off strips large, briefly duplicate the text with the signs of the dog on them, since many are not able to remember what kind of piece of paper with the phone is. Post advertisements in all veterinarians, pharmacies and pet stores, in nearby crowded locations, near dumpsters and in traditional dog walking areas. If the dog is lost in the country, go around the nearest villages. Do not forget about schools and playgrounds, because children are excellent detectives and are happy to get extra money.

Another tip on how to find a lost dog is to go personally to all dog retention centers, veterinary lagoons and shelters, and distribute notices to employees.

If the dog has a stamp (chip), then notify your club, breeder or kennel.

How to Find a Lost Dog: Chip

The best way not to lose your dog is to use technical (chip, brand, collar tag), as well as psychological and training techniques.

A chip is a device the size of a small grain of rice that is inserted under the skin at the dog's withers. Biometric information about the animal and its affiliation (brand, owner, etc.) are recorded here. The chip is used to identify the dog, in particular when crossing the border. At the moment, the export of animals abroad is only possible with electronic identification. An electronic passport is the key to your peace of mind.

Despite protests from some organizations (for both privacy and religious concerns), RFID chips are already widespread. Chipping animals is a mandatory procedure not only for many canine organizations. For example, a dog must be chipped to fly to Japan. However, if the chip is of a different standard than the ISO adopted by Japan, then you must also bring a suitable RFID scanner with you.

The microchip will function throughout the life of the animal without changing its identification number. After chipping, the owner receives a registration certificate, made in the form of a secure plastic card, which contains data about the dog, the owner, by whom and when the individual chip was entered. In addition, the certificate is an official document approved by the government and confirming the right to own an animal. In case of controversial questions about the ownership of the found animal, the certificate has the force of a legal document. Each dog that has received an individual chip is entered into a single electronic database, where you can get more detailed information about the chips. The national electronic identification database Russiapet.net combines data on Russian animals, identified by microchips and tattoos, and their owners.

The price of a chip for a dog is not high and is only 400-500 rubles. Therefore, all pet owners should have a chip implanted in their wards.

What does it mean and where is the dog's stamp

Every purebred dog must be branded. Any breeder knows where the dog's brand is - it is located on the inside of the right thigh or right ear. This is actually a common tattoo.

The brand is placed on the place of origin of the dog and speaks of which club or kennel it comes from. It usually consists of several letters (designate a club or kennel) and numbers (determine the serial number of the dog in this club or kennel). The owners of the exhibition specimens know why the dog is best known - it serves so that the animal cannot be changed at the exhibition, that is, bring one dog instead of another.

However, it will be most beneficial if the dog gets lost. Then the people who picked up the animal will be able to find its owner by the brand - after all, the club almost always has information about the owner of the dog.

The RKF deals with the issues of branding purebred dogs. On the official website of the organization, you can find the Regulation of the RKF on breeding work (approved by the Decision of the Presidium of the RKF of 07.12.2005), according to which: branding of puppies is the duty of the canine organization or kennel; all dogs in the RKF system must have a stamp; the brand is placed in the ear or groin of the dog; the hallmark code is registered in the RKF; microchip - an addition to the mark, implanted by a veterinarian.

Dog collar tags are "dog passport"

A tag on a dog's collar is a "dog passport" designed for human honesty, sometimes it turns out to be useful - and the lost dogs return to their owners. Even if you do not hope that the dog will be returned, the new owner (or in the shelter where he will be given), it does not hurt to know the name and age of the animal.

Training to keep your dog from getting lost

The second group of preventive measures so that the dog does not get lost is the peculiarities of training, the owner's attention to some features of the environment and the nature of his dog.

At the very beginning of the training, pay special attention to the commands and. Bring them to the absolute, then you don't have to be afraid that the dog will get run over by a car, scare someone or run away. Do not run after the puppy shouting “I will kill! Come to me immediately! ”, But on the contrary - run away from him, choosing a safe place for such activities.

Each voluntary approach is accompanied by encouragement, admire the mind of the dog, treating it to a treat, and soon release it again so that he does not associate the approach with an instant cessation of the walk. If you failed to teach the dog to approach the owner at the first call, then take private lessons. Experts will find out the problem and teach you how to act correctly, but for now - walks only on a leash.

The most common reason for the disappearance of a well-bred dog is rather commonplace - sexual instinct. Both females during heat and males who smell an empty bitch completely forget the commands and rules of conduct in a decent society. It is especially difficult for the owners of males - the bitch is in heat a couple of times a year, and the male always keeps his nose to the wind.

If dealing with a dog's sexual behavior is too burdensome, castration may be the way to go. But not in 100% of cases, sometimes the instinct is stronger than the presence of genitals. If you have a bitch, then during estrus, walk with her only on a leash and away from all other dogs. You can purchase a special spray "Antikobelin".

Another reason for the loss is the period of holidays and fireworks. Of course, urban dogs are more resistant to stress than those raised outside the city. But not every dog calmly perceives the roar and flashes of light. thunderstorms, fireworks and firecrackers are a common cause of dogs' stampede.

According to statistics, the last reason for losses can be attributed to the age of the dog. Old dogs may suffer from loss of flair, memory, poor eyesight. Choose for them familiar routes and gentle walking mode. If you are planning to take your four-legged "grandfather" to the dacha, then make sure that he does not get lost on the way. Use a leash, carrier (for small dogs). At the summer cottage, also try not to lose sight of the dog and do not forget to close the gate.

Many owners panic if their dog is lost, but this method (at least) will not work. Until your pet returns home, your task is to gather strength and do everything to help him. There are a lot of dangers waiting for a dog on the street, and the more efficiently you search for it, the more chances it will return safe and sound. Quite often, tetrapods themselves find their way home, but this can only be counted on if the pet is lost in a familiar area.

Searching for lost dogs is, one might say, science, you need to take into account the maximum number of factors and all the features of your ward. Service dog breeds have a certain degree of independence and their chances of returning home in their own footsteps are much higher. Decorative tetrapods are not so brave and collected, they can panic, run without looking back, in addition, they have a less keen sense of smell and territorial memory.

Important! The best prevention against losing a pet is a tag collar or GPS device.

In the city, not far from the house, almost all pets will move in the direction of the house, but the four-legged can get in the way:

  • Cars- quite often frightened animals run out under the wheels, get serious injuries or die.
  • Doghunters- two-legged creatures that enjoy the suffering and death of animals.
  • Catching- in almost all cities there are communal services dealing with the capture and killing of animals. In some cities there are municipal shelters and quarantine sites, where the life of animals is limited to 10-14 days.
  • Brutal teens- sadly, but thousands of animals die in agony every year just because children are interested in trying their hand at the weak.

Quite often, dogs do not return home, as they die from poisoning. You need to understand that after 3–8 hours the pet will begin to be tormented by thirst and hunger, instinct will force the dog to look for sources of food, and this can lead to:

  • Poisoning with baits- Utilities often throw poison baits (although illegal in most countries) to reduce the number of stray dogs and cats. From hunger, the dog can begin to hunt rodents. An inexperienced hunter can only catch an already poisoned rodent.
  • Food poisoning- again, hunger, can provoke the dog to eat the missing food, for example, near the trash cans.

At the time of the prosperity of cynology in the USSR, each dog owner taught the ward to fight, or rather, to defend himself. This approach was considered completely normal, since four-legged brawls could even happen in walking areas. Today it is believed that teaching a dog to "bite" is bad, as its skills can be reflected in humans. However, what would such a "toothless" pet do when it encounters a larger stray dog or pack of dogs? No, this is not a call to action, this is a reason to think. Any dog must be able to defend itself, and if its character is too constrained, the danger of its being on the streets is extreme.

It's not just dogs that pose a threat, but also cats... It is important to wean your pet from chasing purrs even as a puppy. Of course, many cats will be frightened by dogs and will run, but there are fighters among the street tailed striped cats. Cats that know how to fight do not run away from the dog, they attack, moreover, cruelly and desperately. If you've seen a cat in anger at least once, it's easy to guess that the purr will not hesitate to rush to the dog's face, damage its eyes or cause other serious injuries.

Unfortunately, not only animals, but also people are considered hazard factors. Intentional cruelty is a mental disorder, but even healthy people have covetous, envious individuals. If your pet is an expensive or popular breed, it may be picked up and deliberately not returned. This can be called theft, but no ... you yourself have lost the dog, and returning it or not is a matter of decency.

Advice: if you know that your dog has been picked up and are not going to be returned, try to get in touch with the "invaders" and offer a very solid reward or a gift in the form of a puppy of the same breed, more often than not, it works.

Search in hot pursuit

Having discovered that the dog is missing, the main thing is not to panic and think in cold blood, even if your pet is still a puppy. Moreover, in the second case, you need to gather all your will into a fist, mobilize all your acquaintances and act as quickly as possible. Do not wind yourself up, imagining that the pet has already died, look and do not retreat! Despite all of the above dangers, remember that there are more sympathetic, sympathetic and decent people than their antipodes.

Having dropped your hands, you will reproach yourself for years and let your pet down, because he will look for a way to you and need your help. Take it for the fact that troubles do happen and do everything to prevent them. If the pet is still lost, in your mind there should be a clear picture of when and what to do.

So, the first factor that influences the search tactics is the circumstances under which the dog was lost. Globally, all options can be divided into three categories:

  • She ran away for a walk - the most common case. Dogs can run away, frightened by loud noises, so you should not walk your pet off a leash during mass celebrations and until the call has been fully worked out.
  • She ran out of the house and ran away - often happens with non-castrated males and unsterilized bitches during estrus.
  • You found out that the dog was not lost right away - you were away, forgot to close the door, the dog jumped over the fence while you were at work, woke up in the morning and did not find the dog in the yard.

Only in the third case, you need to start with mass posting of missing announcements; in the other two cases, the tactics are slightly different. The more people will help you with the search, the more likely you will quickly get your pet back home. For several hours after the disappearance of the pet, you (your family member or friend) must remain in place, because if the dog is able to go back in its own tracks, it will. If the pet has fallen off the leash, he may not go to the place of escape, but home - this also needs to be taken into account.

Advice: if you have no one to ask for help, at the place of escape you need to leave some of your things (jacket, sweater, sock), go home, return with a bowl of water and food and go home again. When dogs run away for a walk, most often they return to the house.... If possible, ask your neighbors to be on duty at the house, and go in search of yourself.

Stay in place and constantly call your pet as soon as it disappears from sight... Control your tone of voice without annoyance or threat. The pet understands perfectly well that he made a mistake, he is already scared, and the threat of punishment is not the best incentive to return. Inform all the people you meet that your dog is missing and be sure to give a phone number. For the first few hours, the four-legged circling not far from the place of loss. By the way, it is not always true to look for a dog in the direction in which it ran away. Pretty quickly, the pet will realize that it does not see you and will start running in circles.

It makes sense to go through all the routes you take walks... Your pet may have favorite play areas. Be sure to check the territory in which the dog walks in the company of relatives, very often the losses follow exactly there. Some of the owners found their charges near the ponds (if the dog loves to swim) and shops that you happen to go to while walking.

Advice:if your pet is shy, follow the route to inspect bushes, spaces under benches, behind garages, under stairs and other shelters.

Although this method looks passive, the more unfamiliar the terrain for the pet, the more you must stay in place. If the dog is lost in the forest, you need to leave its ammunition (leash, muzzle), some personal belongings, water and snacks at the scene. You need to check the area once every 1-2 hours. Very often, dogs return to the place of escape and, finding their own, things are waiting for the owner.... If you came to the forest by car - start the engine... Your voice is not as audible as engine vibration. If you have forgotten your dog in the forest (yes, it happens), it is highly likely that it will be waiting for you at the "camp" site.

The most difficult case is the loss of a pet in the country (in season) or on the coast - the area is unfamiliar, there are a lot of people and smells. Only in this case it is reasonable not to stay in place for a long time. Again, inform all the people you meet about the loss, ask if they saw the dog, give your phone number, insist that your number be saved in the phone book.

If you have a car, special attention should be paid to owners of vehicles of the same make and with a similar engine frequency. In case of loss in summer cottage villages, it is people who help to find the lost dog (most often), do not hesitate, even if your behavior is intrusive. You've lost a family member, it's worth the inconvenience to get them back!

The most "simple" option is the loss of a pet that ran out of the apartment. In this case, the dog almost always comes by itself, and if it didn’t come, it probably needs help. Remaining in the apartment (if there is no printer), write 10-20 announcements by hand and go out into the street. Advertisements must be posted at the entrance to the entrances and near nearby shops.

Advice: if the dog ran out of the apartment, it is worth searching the neighboring entrances. Very often, a frightened dog sits on the same floor as he lives, but in the next doorway or even a house.

Where to look for a dog?

What to do if the day is over and the pet cannot be found? To listen to the advice above is not to give up. Your dog (like any other creature) has basic needs for food, water, and sleep. In order to get some sleep and gain strength, the dog will hide. The street is too unsafe, the pet knows about it, and in order to fall asleep deeply, the dog needs to be at rest. The search for food and water will lead the four to:

  • Garbage cans.
  • Places where birds are fed.
  • Places where dogs and cats are fed.
  • Shopping, because the dog's instinct will tell the dog that there is food.
  • Stops, as people congregate on them.

You need to go in search at dawn, and in stock you need to have 150-200 announcements about the search for a dog. When the sun rises, the streets are usually quiet and the air is thinner. Call your dog constantly, for example, like this: "Black, let's go to eat, Black, let's go home, Black boy, where are you, Black, come here, my good one." We pronounce the nickname constantly, we change the supporting arguments. Pay attention to the tone of your voice and do not shout too loudly, this can make your pet look threatening. If the dog is accustomed to the whistle - whistle, yes, you will hear plenty of disgruntled people, but this is a forced victim.

You need to stick ads near all of the above places. Fasten them with adhesive tape or glue, but make sure that your searches do not turn into damage to someone else's property. This behavior will obviously not help you, and the ad will be ripped off as soon as they see it. Try to find guardians of stray animals, that is, those people who feed dogs, cats and even birds. Be sure to leave your number and promise a solid reward for the return of your pet.

Advice: ask people (if a dog is found) to keep the pet in sight until you arrive. Promise to pay for assistance and time.

Before leaving the house, bring some bowls, food and water. Leave bowls near your home and in areas where you usually walk your dog. Attach an ad near the bowls (on a post, tree, bench). Having found gifts with your scent, the dog will stay near the bowls for a while. Leaving provisions should be checked 3-4 times a day, as they may be noticed by stray or passing animals.

Important! If you see a pet, but he continues to run away from you - do not panic and do not chase!

So stress affected the dog, she no longer knows who is friend and who is enemy. The most effective method in this case would be to sit down on the ground without making any sudden movements and calmly call the ward, patting yourself on the knee. This procedure can take from several minutes to several hours, but in the end, the pet will come to you.

Ads and other search methods

The longer your pet is away from home, the more intensive it should be to educate others about the loss. Remember that there will always be people who will not be satisfied with the fact that someone has pasted a piece of paper. Update your ads at least once every 3 days. In one go, you need to re-glue (or glue) at least 100 leaflets. You will most likely need help at this stage, so ask everyone for help.

If you cannot find helpers, you can contact the schoolchildren, who will gladly agree to help with posting for a small fee. The only caveat is to make sure that the parents of schoolchildren know what their children are doing. By the way, teenagers and children are much more attentive to animals. If you managed to get the students involved in the search, explain to them that you are willing to pay to return the dog. Usually, such actions lead to the fact that adolescents mobilize entire search teams. There is only one caveat - the amount of the reward should be sufficient so that the children can share it among themselves.

How to create a missing animal announcement?

The success of your search largely depends on the correctness of your ad. The information provided by you should be remembered and as clear as possible. If you write simply: “The dog is gone”, a phone number and a photo, the likelihood that only scammers will call you is very high. The minimum data that needs to be placed in the ad is:

  • Breed dogs, if she is purebred. This point should be deliberately omitted if your pet belongs to a very expensive breed.
  • Gender and age pet.
  • The size- not in centimeters and kilograms, but in comparison: knee-deep, very small, etc.
  • The structure of the coat and its color.
  • Your contacts- phone number, address, district or landmark. The area must be indicated, as people must understand how far the ad is from the dog's place of residence.
  • A photo dogs, preferably colored.

When composing the text, uses the same font in different sizes and bold highlighting. Too overloaded (underlined, italicized, color-coded) text pushes attention away only because it is hard to read. On each ad, you need to make 7-10 tear-off spines with the inscription "The dog is gone" and a phone number. Use short sentences and align all lines except the title to the left of the page - this format is more familiar to reading and is better perceived.

Be sure to indicate in the announcement that the finder is waiting for a reward. It is advisable not to write the exact amount if it is not really large. Better to write "great reward" or something similar. Do not use common phrases: “the children are crying”, “the whole family is suffering”, “we are very worried”, etc. Better to use more powerful stimuli: "the dog needs treatment", "the dog is allergic and needs expensive food", "the dog has epilepsy." It's okay to cheat, but leave your remorse behind until your pet gets home.

Advice: if your dog is worth a lot of money it doesn't need to be mentioned. In such a case, it is wise to constantly monitor message boards and markets in case your pet is tried to be sold.

Paper ads are not the only method. The information needs to be disseminated on all available resources, namely:

  • On Internet Bulletin Boards, more often than not, they are free, so it is better to post ads every day and in several pieces.
  • On trading platforms online.
  • All available social networks and thematic communities- try to choose active groups in which there are discussions and "re-posts" of entries.
  • On urban informative sites.
  • On urban TV channels and radio stations.
  • In local magazines and newspapers in which ads are published.

Don't give up, update information and wait. It happened that lost dogs were found after several months and even years, in other cities and shelters. Try to go around everything veterinary clinics, there is a possibility (albeit not a great one) that your pet will be delivered by the finders or those who cannot pass by the dog's misfortune.

Do not think that dogs are lost only with irresponsible and inattentive owners. A four-legged friend can suddenly chase a cat, get lost in the crowd, loose from the leash, or run away, frightened by a loud fireworks or firecrackers. It is useful for any dog breeder to know what to do if a dog is lost.

First steps

The probability of finding a dog will decrease with each passing hour.

The lost dog near the house, most likely, will first follow in the footsteps of its marks. Perhaps he will even come to his own entrance, but not finding the owner there, he will leave the familiar territory and go wandering.

Therefore, immediately follow the route of your daily walks. Ask someone from the family at this time to be on duty at the entrance to the entrance in case the fugitive shows up there. Such measures are effective in the first two hours.

If a dog is lost in the city, within a few hours it may be in any, even the most distant from your home, area.

Who can help

Police, security guards, sellers, janitors, movers - everyone who gets in the way of the search should know your phone

Local dog owners and janitors can be of great help. To do this, give them small pocket business cards with a photo of the dog, its special features and your phone number.

Dog owners are attentive and observant. Having full information about the lost dog and your contact details, they will definitely inform you in case of its appearance. The janitors will not miss your pet, as this is an opportunity for them to receive a reward.

Children can be your helpers. They are curious and observant, always taking an interest in animals.

Posting ads

Information about the reward in the ad is an additional incentive to search for an animal

This method is also very effective. You just need to correctly compose the text, indicating in it detailed information about the missing pet. Ads should be colorful and catchy.

They should be pasted all over the city, and not only in the area where the dog is missing. Pay special attention to dog playgrounds and pet stores.

Video: what to do if the dog is lost - instructions

No matter how much time has passed since the disappearance of your dog, do not give up and keep looking. After all, we are responsible for those we have tamed.

Every third dog is lost at least once during its life. 90% of lost dogs do not return home.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to insure against this misfortune ... But you can prepare!

Until the dog disappeared

Here are a few things that will help your dog be in the lucky ten percent in the event of a loss:

Collar tag

The name tag is a metal token or plate that is attached to the dog's collar. On this token, the engraver engraves information about the owner of the dog, his address and telephone number.

If your dog does not have an address tag on the collar yet, get it soon!

You can buy an address label in almost any pet store, the cost will range from 250 rubles to 1000 rubles, depending on the size and design.

If you do not have the opportunity to buy an address tag, write your phone number on the collar with a permanent marker.

Microchip

Microchipping animals is by far the most reliable identification method. The chip number will not become overgrown with hair and will not blur from time to time, like a tattoo, it will remain with the dog even if it is lost without a collar with an address tag.

More and more veterinary clinics, shelters and other zoo organizations purchase equipment for reading microchips, and if the dog's chip number is entered in the database, it will not be difficult to find the owner.

Chip your beast - this will greatly increase its chances of returning home.

The cost of chipping in a veterinary clinic will be about 1000 rubles. You can also buy a chip and inject it under your dog's skin yourself - it's no more difficult than giving a regular injection. The cost of a special syringe with a chip is from 300 rubles.

The photo

If the dog gets lost, it will be necessary to write an ad. A high-quality photo will be more informative than just a verbal description. May you always have a good archive in your archive colored a photo of your dog. Update the photo periodically so that it always matches the dog's appearance.

After the dog disappeared

To find a missing dog, you need to notify as many people as possible about the loss.

You need to use all possible options:

Post a missing dog announcement on the website

Print your ad

After publishing the announcement on the site, you can print out it by clicking on the "print" button. The text in the ad can be edited if necessary.

Post your printed ads

A large number of dogs are found precisely thanks to advertisements on poles... Post advertisements in your area, in parks where you went for a walk with your dog, in pet stores, in schools, at bus stops, in veterinary clinics.

Talk to people

While you are walking around and posting ads - contact the dog owners, janitors, children, vendors in tents, traffic police inspectors - everyone who spends time on the street and can meet your dog. It is best to print out small flyers with your contacts and a description of the dog that you can distribute.

Expand your search area

On the Internet: contact large cynological forums, v animal support groups in social networks. The members of these communities are caring people who are ready to help.

In the real world: report missing dog to shelters and veterinary clinics in your city. Remember that the dog could have been hit by a car and taken to a major veterinary center on the other side of town. Also, the dog could be caught and transferred to a shelter.

Never give up

Most effective search for a dog "in hot pursuit"... With each passing day, the chances of finding a dog, alas, are decreasing. However, we know many stories when missing dogs were found many months later and very far from home ... Do not lose hope, look for your pet, and we will do our best to help you!

When your dog is lost, the first step is to calm down and collect your thoughts. As you panic and cry, your dog moves further and further, and the chances of finding him are reduced. Therefore, pull yourself together, remember the details of what happened and go in search.

Plan A. Operational searches:

1. Spend the first 2-3 hours exploring the surroundings. Be careful, look everywhere, call your dog loudly or whistle if it responds to the whistle. Be sure to bring a photo of the dog with you. A photo on your phone will work as well.

2. Talk to people along the way and show them a photo, perhaps one of them saw your dog, noticed where it went or whether a person took it (if suddenly it was stolen). Talk to everyone who meets: with passers-by, sellers of kiosks, tents, open points of sale, with janitors, people in parking lots and stops, with elderly people at entrances, with dog owners, with children, etc. The search result may depend on your sociability and persistence!

3. Leave people your coordinates (phone number). Many people cannot immediately remember the information they need, but it is highly likely that over time, the information you need will pop up in their memory, and you will be already far away.

4. Take a partner with you, or better involve as many people as possible for the search. This way, you can survey a larger area in less time, and you can also interview more people.

5. Involve children in the search. Children love animals and new interesting games, they will surely help you. In addition, children's thinking is different from that of an adult - they may search where you would not even think.

If your quick search is unsuccessful, do not despair and go to plan B.

Plan B. Alert everyone and everywhere:

1. When a dog is not found during a survey of a nearby area, you should immediately notify the organization in charge of capturing stray animals, if any, in your locality. Remember, it is imperative to do this to increase the chances of finding your four-legged friend safe and sound ... It is best to visit these organizations in person, as it will be more difficult for them to refuse or lie to you when talking with employees face to face. In addition, by talking to you in person, workers will remember you and your grief in fulfilling their duties. Talk to them “without raids”, do not reproach them and do not demand anything, but humbly ask them to tell you the truth, if the dog is no longer alive, so that you don’t have empty hopes, ask for help, let them know that you value your pet very much ... Don't forget to leave them a photo of the dog and your contact details.

2. Then get busy with ads. In your ad, describe the dog as accurately as possible, without using terminology. Write in simpler, short sentences. This way you can be sure that everyone will understand it after reading the ad. Be sure (!) To include a large photo of the dog. To get more people interested, use a colored print paper or a color printer (color photo). These ads are striking and stand out from the crowd. Make the ads with tear-off roots with coordinates and very brief information about the dog so that the person who tore off the piece of paper does not forget whose phone it is. Contact information must be indicated in the main part of the advertisement, so that, if all the roots are torn off, you can still be contacted.

So, state in your declaration:
- the phrase "the dog is gone" in large print,
- breed (or "similar to ..." such and such a breed),
- color (including minor features),
- age,
- floor,
- distinctive external features (for example, one ear hangs, the nose is pink, there is a scar on the face, the tail is docked, etc.),
- nickname,
- availability of an address tag, token,
- information about the collar (material, color, etc.),
- information about where and when the dog disappeared,

-indicate that you guarantee a reward to the person who found and returned your dog to you... Some people only react to this. Do not think about their morality, your task is to interest as many people as possible with your problem. But remember, since you promised a reward, then be sure to give it to the one who deserves it - do not tempt fate by deceiving those who helped you.
- presence of a microchip and a stamp. BUT! Do not indicate the brand number in the ad, otherwise you may be deceived... The stamp number and location will help you find out if the caller found your dog. Do not say aloud the number of the stigma yourself, ask to name the caller. If a person refers to the fact that the brand is illegible, then you know exactly which letters and numbers can really be distinguished and which cannot. Do not list anything to anyone until you receive your pet.

3. Print business cards with brief information about the dog and your contact phone number. You can distribute them to everyone with whom you will talk during the search.

4. Then go posting ads everywhere and everywhere. If operational searches have not yielded results, now you should search everywhere. Dogs are fast and smart: they can jump into public transport, chase someone and run away, thereby, far from home, follow a stray bitch in heat, and the like. In addition, they can be picked up by people and taken away from the place of detection. Therefore, you will have to search and post ads for the WHOLE locality, even if it is a megalopolis. If other settlements are located near the place of the disappearance of the dog, then you should look there too. Post ads wherever you can and wherever they are allowed. Do not forget to explain the situation to people and ask for assistance where permission is needed to place an advertisement, for example, in yards there are janitors, in shops - managers and administrators, in public transport - at least a driver.

5. Patrol the area where the dog is missing every day, expand the search area, talk with people, hand out business cards, stick up announcements where they were torn off or the tear-off roots ended.

6. Show your imagination (without breaking the law) in posting information about your trouble. You can write with chalk on the fence, paint on the pavement, and so on.

7. Contact your local radio and local newspapers... Advertise there. It is not as expensive as it might seem. Free classifieds are also placed in newspapers. You can order a creeping line from a local TV channel.

8. Place your ad on the Internet on at least 3 sites (message boards).

9. If your pedigree dog, notify your breeder and club, as well as RKF, about its loss, ask for all possible help. These organizations can and should be informed of the brand and microchip number. This will help prevent fraud if thieves, for example, try to cash in on mating or selling your dog.

10. Inform all the kennel clubs and kennels in your locality, as well as veterinary clinics, dog training schools, go to pet stores.

11. Involve, if possible, all your friends and acquaintances, work colleagues, relatives.

12. Review newspaper and electronic ads every day. Perhaps someone has already picked up your dog and is looking for you. If your pet has a pedigree, then pay attention to the sale of dogs of the same breed in your and nearby village. Dogs with good breed data (especially males) can be offered for mating, so look through these ads as well.

13. Try to answer all calls or call back people who are calling if you do not have time to pick up the phone. Any information can help in the search, and maybe complete them!

14. Don't be discouraged even if a week or more has passed and the dog has not been found... Situations are very different. There are many cases when it was possible to find a pet after months.

Remember, for Plan B to work, you need to LEAVE YOUR COORDINATES AND PHOTOS OF THE DOG ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE.
