I said on Instagram that I consider knee-length boots ideal for a basic wardrobe. More precisely, any boots that end at the narrowest point of the leg suit me, in principle. This requirement comes from the same rule of beautiful horizontal lines: to show yourself in a favorable perspective, you just need to demonstrate the most advantageous horizontal. Models with long stick legs may not make a difference, but for ordinary people this winning line for boots, as a rule, is located just under the kneecap.

The second reason for my wary attitude to anatomical curves is the difficulty of choosing boots "for myself". I do not know where are those ideal legs, which fit different patterns of different boots, but very often the anatomical upper does not sit stupidly. Pay attention on the streets: for many, boots slip down the leg with crooked creases and a hood on the calf. Plus, they are often knocked off by lightning, which also cannot fit perfectly on the leg. Straight boots in this sense are simpler: they are a priori devoid of these difficulties, therefore they sit down with fewer flaws.

But again, do not forget about the nuance - even wide straight boots do not sit properly on strongly prominent calves. There are two ways out: either again to look for low straight boots and trim them, or to sew with nitpicking to look for high anatomical cut under the knee. Everything will depend on individual characteristics.

And a few more words about the lightning: all my complaints relate not to it as such, but to the way it lies on the leg. If exactly and without distortion, then for God's sake. But practice still throws up more jumbled examples. That is why, at the slightest physical opportunity, to the last, I look for boots without a zipper at all. But in the case of the same wide calf, this is unrealistic (I am not considering stocking boots yet). Therefore, lightning from behind can be considered the lesser of evils. The truth is to find such well, sooooo difficult.

And there is also a high rise of the leg, where there is no way without a lightning. Here you can try straight boots, but with a half-zipper in the ankle area. In most cases, these options work well both physically and aesthetically. The lightning still sits exactly, so it almost does not infuriate :)

Now along the width of the bootleg. This is especially true for straight boots. With both hands I am for all sorts of fashionable things, but for the base I would choose boots without hysteria - relatively narrow. This is necessary so that the boots can be safely worn with any skirts. And a boot that is too wide next to thin fabrics can look rude. Therefore, I am in favor of the left option:

But fashionable games in contrasts, I would give at the mercy of non-basic boots. Then you can have a wider boot, and at the same time a more accent shade - so for sure. This is how it looks in the new Isabel Marant pre-fall collection:

I think there is no need to speak separately about stylistic neutrality. Everyone already understands that universal basic boots require brevity. And all this with hussar knee pads, cowboy straps and buckles, stacked heels and other decorations does not suit us by definition.

How to warm your feet in boots?

    I will advise a simple folk way to keep warm.

    Legs need to be wrapped in newsprint and put on boots.

    As an option, I can offer the option easier - put on plastic bags on your feet in socks, and boots on top. The bag helps to keep the feet warm. But as soon as you come into the room, it is better to take off the bag so that your legs do not get worn out.

    Putting the bag on your feet (under the boots) will also save you from getting wet feet in rainy weather. Do not forget to dry your boots only afterwards.

    There are thermal insoles that keep your feet warm. And the simplest technique to quickly warm your legs is to first wave one leg back and forth, then the other. The circulation increases and the legs get warm. So the cabbies in Russia warmed themselves. Suitable for hands too.

    I don’t know who prompted us and when, but we tried at one time this method - you take two mustard plasters, fold them with the mustard-covered side inward, with each other, and the left side outward, and so you put it on your feet, under your socks. The right side is very hot, probably, but the left side is the most. Mustard was already advised here, but it is less comfortable than applying just paper, somehow more hygienic.     In order to keep feet in boots or other shoes from freezing, each person can independently make special insoles for themselves that retain heat.

    To do this, you just need to buy a foil reflector at a hardware store or in a building materials store. These are reinforced on the walls of the apartment behind the radiator, so that the heat from them does not go in vain to the walls, but is reflected into the room.

    The insole is removed from the boot, placed on a foil reflector, circled with a marker and cut out with scissors. Then it fits into the boot, and a regular insole is placed on top of it.

    Everything is ready, you can put on your boots and be glad that your feet do not freeze.

    I like to buy thermal insoles for myself, for my husband and children, they have one side covered with foil. They are put into boots with the shiny side up, and then the usual insole is not put on. The effect is fine.

    The stores sell special warming insoles and warming shoe inserts. Unfortunately, I've only seen disposables. You can simply add extra insoles to your boots and wear warm socks. Only the boots should be one size larger.

    So that your feet do not freeze in winter in the cold, it is good to lubricate them with a warming ointment. For example, ointments to relieve back or joint pain. These ointments should have a warming effect. For example, finalgon ointment, it has a warming effect. Lubricate your feet with ointment and in cold weather your feet will be warm.

    In fact, the legs may freeze at that moment because there is poor circulation, because the blood slowly moves in the vessels, it thickens, and this occurs from the cold and sub-zero temperatures.

    Now there is a way out, you can buy thermal insoles, now this is not a problem. And of course you need to move a little, at least dance at the bus stop, so as not to get cold. And the best option is to constantly move your toes right in your boots and this is easy to do.

    Winter boots or ankle boots on a corrugated elevated platform can be a good way out of the situation.

    And there was a method in Soviet times to wrap a leg in a newspaper, and then put on boots and it helped.

    So that your feet do not freeze in cold weather, especially while waiting for public transport, and also if you work on the street, and the work is quite static, then an old, proven tool for many decades will help you best. Pour 1 teaspoon of dry mustard into the sock (the less synthetics in nm, the better!) Pour 1 teaspoon of dry mustard, shake it more or less evenly in the sock. Dry mustard has a good warming effect, the main thing is that the sock is worn on bare feet.

    The easiest way to keep your feet from freezing at the bus stop is not to stand in the form of a motionless statue that has been worn from head to toe, but to move, move, walk back and forth. Of course, you need to pay attention to your shoes. If you have a thin sole, then such shoes are not suitable for long waiting in the cold. We'll have to buy boots or shoes with thick soles - semolina. Then there will be no cold pull from below. Shoes should be roomy enough and not with narrow toes.

    I remembered the old proven tourist way - wrap your feet in newspaper which keeps warm well.

    In general, nothing has been invented better than boots. Now they produce boots-felt boots with patterns in the folk style. Quite decent shoes if you don't want to get sick.
