DIY micellar water at home. Micellar water: indications and homemade recipe. Lavender Micellar Water

Good day!

Recently I found out a great recipe for a homemade facial cleanser. This is a micellar makeup remover. After all, one of the important stages in skin care is its cleansing.

The main task is to choose the right cleanser that effectively removes makeup residues, grease accumulated during the day and settled dust. In this case, the cleanser should not violate the protective lipid layer of the epidermis.

When the skin is well cleansed, it easily takes in the nutrients from the skincare products. On such skin, cosmetics evenly lays down.

And today I suggest you make micellar water yourself at home to remove makeup and cleanse the skin.

Micellar water is a gentle cleanser suitable for both dry and mixed, oily skin. At the same time, we will receive cleansing and moisturizing of the skin.

Micellar water gently dissolves makeup thanks to micro-compounds in the form of a micelle sphere. Micelles are surfactants that dissolve grease, impurities and makeup residues. Then they can be easily removed with a cotton pad and then with water.

Micellar water is the first and preparatory stage for complete cleansing of the skin, especially skin prone to oily content. It does not cause irritation or tightness. This tool is a great helper in those days when you are so tired that you simply cannot take off your makeup.

Can. of course, buy ready-made water in the store, but it's interesting to make it yourself. Those who are engaged in the manufacture of handmade soaps and cosmetics will do it without difficulty, the rest, if desired, too. The main thing is to buy the necessary components, but you can find all this in online stores.

Micellar cleansing water recipe.

First, let's remember a little chemistry. If you make 100 g of a solution, then each percentage of the components will correspond to 1 gram. If you want to make 200 g, then 1 percent is 2 grams. It's simple.

First of all, we must treat with alcohol and sterilize the tools and containers in which we will make and store our product. Otherwise, pathogenic flora will enter the micellar water and shorten its shelf life.

It is convenient to use small scales, but if they are not there, conventionally consider that 1 ml is 1 g.

Add the main component to a glass or ceramic container - 10% (this is the maximum input) of the micellar concentrate (micellar solution). We buy it in cosmetics shops. Micellar concentrate contains active ingredients - phospholipids of two types of plant origin, similar to natural skin phospholipids. Plus the concentrate already contains an active moisturizing factor.

Dissolve 5% of water-soluble vitamin C in the concentrate.First of all, it is an antioxidant. Vitamin C takes part in the formation of elastin and collagen - proteins that provide elasticity, firmness of facial tissue and blood vessels.

We introduce 8% betaine. It is a natural asset derived from sugar beet. It is a moisturizer for the upper layers of the skin, which protects the cell membranes, relieves irritation, especially on sensitive skin, helps to maintain moisture and softness of the skin due to its ability to retain water in the cells. Betaine is a conductor of water-soluble components. It also softens the effect of surfactants.

Betaine helps to dissolve allantoin (even at room temperature), which we administer at a maximum dosage of 2%. Allantoin regenerates the skin, especially sensitive, prone to allergic reactions, rashes. Regulates the activity of the sebaceous glands and prevents clogging of pores. At the same time, it moisturizes and softens the skin.

The next component is ultra low molecular weight hyaluronic acid - 1%. It has a low molecular weight, due to which it penetrates better into the layers of the epidermis. Stimulates the formation of collagen fibers, due to which the skin will maintain its tone.

The water base will be hydrolates, or otherwise they are called flower waters.

Add 50% damask or rose water hydrolat. If you are, in Bulgaria or Crimea, be sure to buy such a tool. It is a symbol of beauty and femininity. Both the scent and the hydrolat itself tones the skin, giving it a fresh look.

Rose hydrolat relieves inflammation, redness. It is especially useful for those who suffer from rosacea. Rose water enhances the action and accelerates the penetration of moisturizing assets, which is important because our product is rinse off.

The following hydrolat enhances the effect of rose water. This is mint hydrolat, we take 24% of it. In contrast, mint water is very mild and therefore suitable for sensitive skin. It relieves puffiness, has an anti-couperous effect, soothes inflammation, and mint hydrolat refreshes, cools and evens out the complexion.

Instead of mint hydrolat, you can take water or cornflower hydrolat, then it will be very good to remove cosmetics from the eyes with this water.

Hydrolates are fairly concentrated substances. Therefore, you can take them in half the dose, replacing the rest with distilled water. That is, 25% rose hydrolate, 12% mint hydrolate and 37% water. But you should try it as you like best.

Mix the solution thoroughly and move it into a convenient container, you can use a spray bottle. Micellar water can be stored at room temperature for 3 months under a tightly closed lid.

1. Make-up is removed as follows: abundantly wet a cotton pad with micellar water and along massage lines, without stretching the skin, remove makeup. Move from the center of the face to the periphery. This water can be used to remove eye makeup, as it does not irritate the mucous membranes.

RECIPE FOR PREPARING MICELLAR WATER

Lavender Micellar Water

We will need:

lavender hydrolat - 85 gr.
hydrogenated castor oil - 5 gr.
honey extract - 3 gr.
almond sweet oil - 5 gr.
optikhen-plus (preservative) - 1 gr.
essential oil (lavender) - 4 drops
By heating lavender hydrolat in a water bath, it has a soothing effect on the skin, reduces irritation, soothes and has a regenerating effect, making it look healthy.

Almond oil and castor oil also need to be heated in a water bath. Castor oil softens the skin well, it serves as a protective film that prevents moisture evaporation. Also, castor oil is a non-ionic emulsifier-solvent that has a pronounced cleansing effect. Almond oil gives the skin elasticity and silkiness, while it has a healing effect.

In a water bath, melt the castor oil to a liquid state, and mix with lavender hydrolate, stir at the same time.

Honey extract gives the skin hydration and a feeling of freshness. It must be added to the previously obtained consistency.

Optichen-plus preservative is necessary for the development of microflora in micellar water.

Add 3-4 drops of essential oil to eliminate the strong smell of lavender hydrolat.

Menthol micellar water

Menthol gives an excellent sensation of freshness and helps to tighten pores.

We will need:

hydrolat - 40 ml
water-soluble oil - 3 ml
panthenol - 2 ml
fucogel - 2 ml
menthol - 0.25 g
essential oils - 10 drops
preservative phenoxyethanol - 3 drops
Essential oils need to be matched to our skin type, but remember that not all oils should be added to a daily toner.

For example, such as:

leuzea
cinnamon
grapefruit
citronella
limet
Carnation
bergamot
schizandra
lemon
caraway
lime
Orange
They often provoke the appearance of age spots. Distilled water can be used instead of hydrolate.

Aloe Vera promotes a fast healing effect.

We will need:

hydrolat (any, water) - 91% - 91 ml
caprylyl - 1% - 1 ml
NUF - 4% - 4 ml

Beauty from a woman does not require sacrifice, but constant care, and this will be helped by micellar water, which was previously used only in professional cosmetology. It is a mild cleanser, free of various oils and alkalis. This article will tell you not only how to use micellar water correctly, but also how to make it yourself.

How to use micellar water for the face?

A certain percentage of manufacturers assure the buyer that it can be used not only as a moisturizer and cleanser, but also as a tonic. The traditional "No rinse" lettering emphasizes the versatility of the composition.

But you should not take everything literally, since this inscription is a marketing device. Scientists conducted repeated studies, which were based on the fact that girls rubbed their faces with it throughout the day. And after a while they developed an allergy to it. This is due to the fact that the internal potential of the skin is not so great to cope with new doses of preservatives and surfactants.

To answer the question of how to use micellar water correctly, 2 directions will be proposed:

  1. It can be used as a makeup-free cleanser. To do this, moisten a cotton sponge with this composition, wipe your nose, cheeks, chin, neck and other areas of the face and décolleté. After that, it is recommended to wash it off with warm water. If it is not possible to do this, for example, on the road, you can wipe your face with wet wipes or completely refrain from using micellar water until "favorable" conditions, since it must be washed off. To the question: "Why?" the answer will be given a little later.
  2. It is also used in cosmetology as a moisturizer. First, you need to carry out the make-up removal procedure, then remove the remnants of cosmetics with micellar water, moistening a cotton pad abundantly. Then wash your face with clean water.

And now let's answer the question: “ Should micellar water be rinsed off?", As promised earlier. It is simply necessary to wash off this cosmetic product, and there are at least three reasons for this:

  1. To avoid the feeling of tightness and dryness of the skin, as sometimes a sticky film remains on the face after using it.
  2. Allergies are possible. If manufacturers add essential oils (mainly plant extracts) and other additional components to the water.
  3. By purchasing the foaming consistency of micellar water, its benefits, expressed in the form of gentle facial skin care, are minimized.

In general, there are no strict contraindications to the use of micellar water, so it can be used by everyone, but with the obligatory observance of all previously described norms. But we also draw a certain conclusion to consolidate the topic: "Is it necessary to wash off the micellar water?"

How to make micellar water at home?

Despite the fact that this cosmetic product is available in all beauty stores at a completely affordable price, many women of the fair sex do not stop actively thinking about how to make micellar water at home and share the recipes they found with other ladies on well-known thematic resources. This material will also suggest a method of home cooking.

So, the necessary ingredients for its manufacture:

  • lavender hydrolat: 86 gr.;
  • hydrogenated castor oil: 5 gr .;
  • honey extract: 1 gr .;
  • sweet almond oil: 3 gr.;
  • lavender essential oil: no more than 4 drops;
  • a preservative called "Optichen Plus": it is about 0.5 gr.

The peculiarity of the effect of these components on the epidermis of the face is that almond and castor oils cleanse the skin, making it elastic, velvety, and also create the thinnest film that prevents the evaporation of excess moisture. Lavender hydrolate has a beneficial effect on the skin of the face, eliminating irritation and regenerating its condition.

The sequence of its preparation is as follows:

  1. Put castor and almond oils in a water bath. Lavender hydrolat will need to be heated in the same way, but this whole process should be carried out in different dishes.
  2. Mix all the melted ingredients from the first step. As a result, you should get a homogeneous mass.
  3. Now it remains to add honey extract and preservative to the composition obtained in the second paragraph. They will protect the finished product from the formation of unnecessary microflora in it.

Some ladies tend to make certain adjustments to each recipe, regardless of its purpose. For example, more essential oils are added, which are not in the instructions, and other similar actions are carried out. This is strictly not recommended in this case, since the main purpose of micellar water is to remove eye make-up.

It is also important to know that there is already a component in it that does an excellent job with this task - it is lavender hydrolate. It has a beneficial effect on the skin and has a rather pronounced attractive pleasant aroma that will appeal to even the most demanding lady.

What is the difference between micellar water and tonic?

In fact, the whole difference is obvious, a tonic is necessary for toning the skin, which usually includes herbal extracts. And the main direction of using micellar water is to deeply cleanse the skin and remove makeup.

That is, in principle, all that distinguishes micellar water from tonic.

Micellar water is a solution for cleansing the skin and removing make-up. Typically colorless and odorless.

Micellar solutions were originally used to care for babies and treat skin conditions (eczema, psoriasis, acne). Then the cosmetics manufacturers finalized the composition in their chemical laboratories, and the result was an "innovative tool" for personal care.

What are micelles

Marketers present micelles as a supercomponent that magically removes dirt and makeup. But it's a little simpler.

Mica means "particle" in Latin.

Micelles are particles in any solution, including a solution of surfactants (surfactants).

Surfactants are compounds widely used in cosmetology and household chemicals. It is the main ingredient in detergents and shampoos.

Surfactant molecules have fat-soluble (hydrophobic) and water-soluble (hydrophilic) moieties. They are similar in shape to tadpoles: the head is hydrophilic, the tail is hydrophobic.

Haircolor.org.ua

When dissolved in water, hydrophobic components are attracted to each other, forming spheres. The result is balls with fat-soluble tails inside and water-soluble heads on the surface. These are micelles.

The micelle structure is not rigid. When we rub a cotton pad dipped in micellar over our face, hydrophobes absorb sebum, while hydrophiles work like water, leaving a pleasant feeling of cleanliness.

So micelles are not a supercomponent at all. These are microparticles that form in a solution of surfactants. Which one exactly depends on the manufacturer.

Micellar water composition

Almost all cosmetic brands have a product called micellar water. And all these funds differ from each other in composition.

Three types of micellars can be distinguished, depending on which surfactant is taken as a basis.

  1. Micellar water based on "green chemistry". It is produced from nonionic surfactants: most often from lauryl glucoside and cocoglucoside. They are made from sugar and. These surfactants effectively remove sweat and dirt without damaging the skin.
  2. Micellar water based on poloxamers. These are artificial, but absolutely harmless substances. They dissolve and mix well. There are many poloxamers: in cosmetology, poloxamer 184, 188 and 407 are usually used. Such micellar does not irritate the skin and does not require rinsing.
  3. Micellar water based on polyethylene glycol (PEG). PEG is a classic emulsifier. Safe at a concentration of less than 20%, but may cause dryness and irritation of the skin.

In any case, the composition of micellar water should not contain soap and alcohol.

But to enhance the cosmetic and marketing effect, manufacturers use additional components: plant extracts, minerals, fragrances.

Pros and cons of micellar water

Micellar water has many benefits:

  1. Cleans delicately. Micellar water removes impurities well, while moisturizing the epidermis and, as a rule, does not cause irritation. Suitable even for owners of dry and sensitive skin.
  2. Removes makeup quickly. No rubbing, no streaking, no panda eyes. Some micellars do not require rinsing (more on this later), which is especially handy when traveling.
  3. Suitable for eye makeup remover. Micellar water does not pinch the mucous membrane and does not cause redness. This is especially important for contact lens wearers.
  4. Suitable for women of all ages. Micellar water is equally good at treating acne sufferers as well as intact skin.

However, micellar water is a versatile but not ideal remedy.

Some micellars are sinister in the formation of a sticky film after use. Others - by the fact that they dry the skin and give a feeling of tightness. Both of these phenomena are usually associated with an imbalance of micelles in the solution and individual intolerance to additives.

Supplements can also trigger allergic reactions. By itself, the micellar solution is neutral, but the essential oil added to it may well lead to rashes and itching. Therefore, if one brand of micellar water does not suit you, try another.

How to choose micellar water

When purchasing cosmetics, one should not be guided by the principle “The more famous the brand, the better”.

The ideal micellar water is the one that suits your skin type and meets your skincare needs.

If you do not have problem skin that is not prone to oily and acne, and you only need micellar for removing makeup at the end of the day, you can use budget products with PEG. The main thing is to remember that such micellar water must be washed off.

If the skin is prone to oily, opt for "green chemistry". Products with polysorbate (a nonionic surfactant) close the pores, reducing the production of sebum. It is not necessary to rinse off such micellar water, but after cleansing it is recommended to also wipe the face with a tonic.

For owners of dry and sensitive skin, “green chemistry” is also suitable, but it is better to use products based on poloxamers. They are delicate, do not require rinsing, and therefore are suitable for refreshing the face during the day. It is good if micellar water contains additional moisturizing components.

How to use micellar water

  1. Moisten a cotton pad with the micellar solution.
  2. Wipe your face along the massage lines.
  3. If you are removing eye makeup, press the swab against your lashes for five seconds. Then move it from the inner to the outer corner of the eye - mascara and shadows remain on the disk.
  4. If your micellar requires rinsing, be sure to rinse your face with warm water.

After cleansing with micellar water, you can use other skin care products.

Micellar water ≠ tonic.

Micellar cleanses and tonic tones the skin. It is used on a clean face to prepare for applying a cream or serum.

How to prepare micellar solution at home

If you figure out the ingredients and get a little confused, you can prepare micellar water yourself. There are many recipes on the Internet: for daily cleansing, for removing waterproof makeup, for various skin types.

Here is just one of them.

Output

Around the micellar water there is a cloud of marketing dust: “Innovative formula with micelles”, “Deep cleansing”, “Does not require rinsing”. But if you brush it off, you just have a good self-care product.

Correctly selected micellar water perfectly cleanses the skin and removes makeup easily. If the composition is correct, micellar can be used every day without dryness and irritation.
