Paper tunnel. New Year's souvenir made in paper tunnel technique “Forest guest. Tunnel "Romantic mood"

Hello everyone! My name is Ekaterina, I am 28 years old and I live in the sunny city of Krasnodar. Scrapbooking entered my life 2.5 years ago, and since then it has taken up all my free time and most of my room. In this kind of creativity, first of all, I am fascinated by cute postcards. So I decided to make an MC for you to create one postcard as a guest designer from Fantasy. I hope my MK will be interesting and useful to you. You can always find me on VK:https://vk.com/kate_loran.

MK is dedicated to a shabby chic tunnel postcard.

What we need:

  • scrap paper 15x15 cm (6 sheets);
  • punching knives: three round knives of different diameters (if there are no knives, then you can use a circular cutter or compasses and scissors); curly cutting knives suitable for the topic (I took napkins, leaflets, a ballerina, as well as large and small flags from Fantasy);

  • decorative elements (half-beads, pebbles, brads, etc.) and carvings;

Postcard making process:

Cut out two rectangles of 12x15 cm from the cardstock, bend them as shown in photo # 2.

We bend, fold and glue our cardstock sheets with double-sided tape as shown in photo # 3.

We measure the length and width of the "back" of each blank, cut out two strips from the beer cardboard and glue them on the "backs" of the blanks (this is necessary to strengthen our future structure).

Cut out two rectangles from a sheet of scrap paper (the length should be equal to the length of our "back" of the workpiece, and the width should be equal to the width of the "back" + 3 cm), bend them and glue them on the back of our workpieces as indicated in photo No. 5. So the sides of our future postcards are ready.

Now let's start making layers. Using circular knives, cut holes in three sheets of scrap paper (see photo # 6). It is important to know that scrap paper should not be very thin (if you take sheets of thin scrap paper - they bend under the weight of the decor and the design may turn out to be crooked).

The diameter of the holes must differ from each other by 1 cm,
so that when our layers are superimposed on each other, it looks like a tunnel.

With the help of curly cutting knives we make cutting. Using paper clips, we attach each layer of scrap paper to the "petals" of the previously made sidewalls, estimate the location of decorative elements on each layer of the tunnel postcard (for convenience, we fix the decor with paper clips) as shown in photo # 8.

Carefully remove each layer from the sides, do not remove the decor - so it will be easier for us to remember where to attach what (see photo # 9). We glue the entire decor. Another trick: so that the two inner layers of scrap paper (in photo # 9 these are sheets with the smallest and middle circle) do not go in waves in the future, you need to slightly trim the side edges of these layers (literally 1 mm on each side).

After all our layers are ready, we can start assembling the postcard. At this stage, the most important rule is: DO NOT HURRY! You need to collect the postcard from the very back layer (so to speak, the back wall of our postcard). We take a sheet of scrap paper without a hole (back wall), on one of its side, from the seamy side, apply glue with a strip of 1.5 cm wide. We apply a sheet of scrap paper to one of the "petals" of the side, level, smooth and wait for the glue to set. Now we repeat this operation with the second side panel. You should have a design like in photo # 10. We glue three layers in this way.

The paper, or book, tunnel is a subspecies of the English hand-made paper craft technique. It is also often called a paper cube or tunnel. Cubes can act as an excellent gift for a loved one on February 14, or as an interesting element of the interior.

Also, the product can be used as a cute postcard. For its manufacture, accuracy and accuracy are required, since such a craft contains many small details.

Tunnel "Romantic mood"

To make a cube-tunnel "Romantic mood" you will need:

  1. Thick multi-colored paper.
  2. Glue stick or wood glue.
  3. Scissors.
  4. Cutter with a sharp end from a set for woodcarving.

Having prepared all the necessary tools and materials, you can get to work. The cube is assembled like this:

  1. First of all, you need to decide on the colors. They can be matched exclusively to the taste of the master. Usually two are used: the main one - for the walls of the cube and the secondary one - for the inner layers of the "book". For example, orange sheets of dark and light shades were taken.
  2. First you need to prepare the inner layers of the paper. The tunnel will have five layers, three of which will be internal. Therefore, on lighter sheets, squares with sides of 10 or 15 cm are drawn. It is also necessary to draw a drawing that will later be cut out. You need to paint on strips a centimeter wide to the upper faces, they will be needed during assembly.

  1. After drawing work, you can start cutting. To do this, you first need to cut out the squares with scissors. Then cut out the background. To do this, you need a special cutter. Its edge should be sharp so that it does not tear the paper. A few minutes of painstaking work, and in the end you should get the following images:

  1. Almost the same is done with the base color paper. But unlike the previous type of work, here it is necessary to draw a drawing only on the front and back walls. In this case, one of them with the upper edge should be connected to the center of the strip 10 (15) cm high, and 30 (45) cm wide. It will be the lid and sides of the cube. The gluing strips should be on the side edges. It is also additionally necessary to cut a solid square without a pattern with lines for gluing on all four sides.

  1. But before gluing, it is recommended to walk along all the fold lines so that the assembly does not turn out to be very painful. You need to bend all the places for gluing, as well as the joints of the front wall with the lid and the sides of the cube.
  2. It remains only to collect all the details. First, the internal parts are glued at an equal distance to the middle of the strip of the base color. In this case, you need to make sure that they are parallel to the front wall.

  1. Next, the lower part is glued, which is a solid square with four gluing strips. The back wall of the "book" is attached to it and to the top.
  2. At the final stage, the side faces of the cube are closed by gluing the edges of the main color strip to the front, back and bottom parts of the cube.

The result is a small fairy-tale cube, which does not even have to be decorated. If you look inside, you can see a multi-layered picture.

Spring cube

There is an alternative way to make a paper cube. It will require all the same materials. The difference lies in the manufacturing technology.

How to do:

  1. As in the first case, you can choose different colors, or you can make the craft one-color.
  2. All inner squares are cut in the same way as in the first case, but they will have slightly larger lines for gluing.

  1. The outer squares are cut individually and must have four gluing strips. From paper of the main color, you also need to cut a strip with a width equal to the side of the square and a length of four of its sides.

Today I read about the new TUNNEL BOOK technique. In Russian, I still do not know in what form this name will take root. See if you also enjoy making such multi-layered booklet postcards!

Butterflies are circling like in a tunnel! And this is a top view

As you can see - nothing complicated!

I got the idea from the designer Ekaterina Bogomolova. Here are two of her works:

Song of Summer Venice

For crafts, you need to take thin cardboard or thick paper (like whatman paper, for example). Cut out the circles in the center. Five white "book" leaves ...

And two colored ones for the "cover" (the main cover has a slit, and the back is just a plain sheet).

Then we make two accordions at the rate of 15 cm for the bending part and those centimeters that correspond to the height of your product. The accordion is divided into 1.5 cm.

I draw your attention, in the "book pages" when cutting circles, we leave small "pins". We glue the details on them (in my case, butterflies).

First, we collect, by pasting the pages, the inner part of the "book", and then - we glue the "covers". Everything! Ready!

And this is the work of Carol Barton, the very artist who revived this half-forgotten technique.

Fantasy, imagination, desire to create beauty - these are the main components of any technique!

Here is a winter master class in the same "Magic Forest" technique (size 36 * 30).

My son and I made such a magical forest in one evening. The size of the work is 36 * 30cm. We tried the "Paper Tunnel" technique for the first time. I liked it very much. It turns out just a fabulous result.

In the background, blue foil is used, which gives a special festivity, depth and additional shadows. For decoration - sequins in the form of holographic stars and ornaments for the Christmas tree. Decorative snow is sprayed on each layer, it turns out a real winter!

These are the blanks we needed.

Hello friends! In between the pre-New Year's chores, we managed to carve out time for small experiments. The result of one of them is this souvenir squirrel tunnel that can be a stylish decoration for your interiors. Moreover, making it is not at all difficult. They will help you to make such a paper souvenir Olya Kachurovskaya and its templates.

Materials and tools:

office paper (for printing templates) and a stapler;

thick paper (for example, pastel / watercolor paper), scrap paper;

breadboard or standard knife;

creasing tool;

glue "Moment Crystal".

Download templates for cutting out the details of our New Year's souvenir in the required format here:

If using a plotter, you can flip through the description a little before gluing.

With manual cutting, we start traditionally - we print templates. You can do this on plain office paper or immediately on thick paper, from which the details of the tunnel will be cut.

Cut out the inner layers and the base of the product. As usual, first we cut out the inner patterns, and then along the outer contour (along the ruler).

It will look better if the squirrel is cut from paper in a contrasting color to the inner layers.

We crease the details along the fold lines and fold.

We glue the squirrel to the second part of the inner layer 1.

The base of the tunnel consists of 2 parts. We glue them together.

If you have large paper (A3 and larger), then you can glue the parts of the template printed on office paper, and then cut out the base pattern using a solid template.

On the inner back surface of the base, glue a rectangle made of paper in a contrasting color. This background will accentuate the inner carved layers of the composition.

Let's start assembling the tunnel.

On the inner surface of the side face, we glue the valve of the inner layer 3, aligning with the fold line, as shown in the photo.

We fold all the layers, wrapping the valves inward. And glue the opposite side edge.

Then we glue the front face of the tunnel to the side flap.

We decorate our souvenir tunnel with contrasting background details made of colored or scrap paper. We give the tunnel a three-dimensional shape.

That's all! The New Year's souvenir is ready! You can add them to your own festive interior decoration or give it to someone as a gift.

By the way, did you recognize the squirrel? This forest visitor moved here straight from "" - a new set of window decorations from Oli Kachurovskaya.

Using all these templates, you can create a whole festive decorative ensemble: the window composition will overlap with a voluminous paper souvenir. Great!

You can dream up and come up with something else. For example, you can decorate New Year's gifts with some carved elements. Create for your pleasure! :)

In general, how do you like the idea of such souvenir tunnels? Want to continue the series?

We wish you inspiration!

Yours, Inna Pyshkina
